woman holding Arm & Hammer natural deodorants

An aluminum-free deodorant that actually works and doesn’t cost a fortune? It’s true…

For the last decade or so, we’ve witnessed the rising trend of natural deodorants along with some controversies over which brands are the best of the best. We’ll never know for sure which natural deodorant truly is “the best” because at the end of the day, everyone has different pit sensitivities and everyone has a different aroma preference.

One thing we do know for sure though is that most natural, aluminum-free deodorant is EXPENSIVE. You’re lucky if you can find a stick under $7 and the majority retail for over $10. That’s a good chunk of change for deodorant! Thankfully, my favorite natural deodorants retails for under $3 🙌. Pretty Hip, right?!

Here’s why I love my under $3 Arm & Hammer Essentials aluminum-free deodorant:

A hand holding a deodorant stick in a bathroom

It’s literally the cheapest aluminum-free deodorant on the market.

I’ve been riding the natural deodorant train for about 10 years now and have tried numerous brands and compared their prices at popular retailers like Target, Amazon, Walmart, and a few drugstores. No other brand even comes close to the price tag of this aluminum-free deodorant.

Three deodorant sticks on a table

In fact, for the price of one stick of the popular Native natural deodorant brand ($11.97), I could get around 4 to 5 sticks of Arm & Hammer’s natural deodorant. If you get as excited about those savings as I do, I’ll give you a minute or two to go stock up on the most affordable aluminum-free deodorant there is. 😉

Hip shopping tip:

To get the best deal on your Arm & Hammer Essentials deodorant, first compare prices at Walmart and Amazon as they typically have the cheapest options. You can also find the deodorant at Target (can be more expensive and hard to locate) and get it price-matched to the best Amazon or Walmart price.

It smells just as good, if not better than other aluminum-free deodorants.

With scents like Juniper Berry, Orange Citrus, and Rosemary Lavender, you’ll be looking forward to applying your Arm & Hammer Essentials Deodorant. Their citrusy aromas are even neutral enough for men to wear!

The scents are fairly long-lasting compared to some other natural deodorants that need to be reapplied constantly throughout the day and I can usually get by with just one reapplication in the afternoon (and I’m an abnormally sweaty person 😳).

Three deodorant sticks in some grass outside

The plant extract ingredients are great for absorbing odor.

When it comes to fighting pit stench, not every aluminum-free deodorant gets the job done. Even after numerous reapplications, some brands just can’t overcome a level 10 stink situation, but Arm & Hammer can.💪🔨

Each of their Essentials deodorants contains a number of natural plant extracts that not only smell amazing, but they also help absorb a lot of the smells released from your underarm pores.

A hand placing some deodorant in a stocking

Need a stocking stuffer idea? Give the gift of fresh armpits! 😉

If you need something more than just candy and socks to throw in your loved one’s stockings, introduce them to your new favorite aluminum-free deodorant! I have a feeling they’ll like it just as much as these other Arm & Hammer deodorant users do:

“The Arm & Essentials works great! No irritation and the smell is really nice. I use the fresh scent and my husband uses the clean scent. They work great in keeping us smelling fresh, even after play soccer and getting really sweaty.” – Amazon reviewer

“Unlike other natural deodorants I’ve tried, this one actually does kill odor & lasts all day without any reapplication needed. The smell is pretty unisex, and “clean” is an apt description for it. There’s no irritation after shaving, either. I’m really happy with it, and will be using it from now on.” – Amazon reviewer

A friend turned me onto this product & I will NEVER go back to anything else. The smell is out of this world amazing & refreshing. I love they face that it does not have the harsh chemicals that other deodorants have but also works!”– Amazon reviewer

If you’re switching from regular deodorant to natural deodorant for the first time, do this at-home armpit detox first!

Thank you. I was buying Doves aluminum free at $7 because that’s the only one Dillon’s had. I didn’t even consider looking on Amazon 🤷

  2. Mmommyof3

I’ve been using aluminum free deoderant for many years. I’ve tried it all. Read Taylors last article and someone said Arm and Hammer is at Dollar Tree. Hooked ever since! I love the scent! It lasts all day, no irritation. Rarely, I may need a second application right before going to bed. But compared to most other aluminum free deoderants that’s pretty good with a price you cant beat!

  3. Kim

Just don’t buy in bulk until you try it. Works for my husband, DID NOT work for me 🙁

    • Mom23

Same here!! Husband has used for years for me it burns and I break out in a rash

    • Natasha

Same here. I broke out for the first time ever under my arms.

    • BlueWaterGirl

I smelled so bad when I used this!

  4. Suzanne H

Smells great at first but that disappears very quickly. I smell better wearing nothing at all than wearing this. I was so hopeful but it just doesn’t work for me.

  5. mary-14

Caution: it still contains “fragrance”. Frangance can hide so much since per the fda, companies don’t have to disclose what is in it – proprietary ingredients.

      This 👆

    • The Deal

The ‘Unscented’ and ‘Crisp’ products do not contain fragrances.

Publix frequently runs BOGO deals on this product, and if you are in store, you may be lucky enough to find products with coupons attached, which combines with the promotion. I’ve been able to stock up at around $.70 each, in the past. I make my own deodorant, but my teen uses this, and I’m pleased not to smell him! 😜 thank you so very much H2S, keep up the great work! I enjoy reading these posts on beauty and self care! 😘

  7. Lase

Makes me smell horrible after it had worn off.

  8. Diana

I’ve found it’s more effective if I switch around between a couple natural brands. I use Lume or Arm and Hammer with regular deodorant on the hottest summer days. For whatever reason they need a break!

  9. akikahr-honaker

I have tried several different (higher priced brands) and this by far (for me) last longer, even on the days I do a little workout, it has lasted. And I was lucky enough to snag at my local Dollar Tree! Thanks H2S

  10. Rebekah

I have used this for about 10 years. When I started the aluminum free journey I had itchy, angry armpits for about a year until I found this deodorant. I have been using it ever since and never looked back. Highly recommend!

  11. Mary

I started using this deodorant couple years ago and I am not going back to regular deodorants. This deodorant doesn’t irritate my under arms, I wear it even right after shaving.

  12. ccmama

I’ve been using this for years. Love it. People need to know it’s not an antiperspirant – but a deodorant.

  13. Chel

It smelled SO STRONG. It gave me a headache. It worked but if you are sensitive to fragrance, buyer beware. At this price its worth the gamble though.

  14. Sarah Wheeler

They had this at my Dollar Tree. I know American Cancer Society Hope Lodges take donations of aluminum-free deodorants to have for patients. My husband & I stayed several times when he was fighting pancreatic cancer and we appreciated the nice toiletries when we had to stay on the fly.

  15. Sarah

There is also a scent free for those that are scent sensitive. Don’t forget: if you’re coming from using antiperspirants your body actually was trained to sweat more to combat the antiperspirant. It can take a few weeks for your body to retrain, but it’s so very worth it if you read about the health dangers of the aluminum in your armpits. Just take more showers, etc. I’ve used it in Tucson summers for over 10 years now and no problems. (Winter is a good time to train your body to transition too.)

  16. RMS

My Dollar Tree has this- just saw it there today.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing! We’ve seen it there too!

  17. Laura

I have used this for years and I love it. I buy in bulk for the year. I tried a lot of other brands and nothing worked. I reapply once throughout the day. No biggie.

  18. HannahG

Definitely worth trying but did not work for me.

  19. JO

I tried this but it made my skin itch and burn really bad. I can use the regular sport version in this brand though without any irritation.

  20. Bryant

This works but tends to make my underarm feel wet. It works best as a winter deodorant if you’re one who sweats alot. I only buy it on sale for .99 at the grocery store or Walgreen.

  21. Mommaof8

I would be so let down if I got deodorant in my stocking. Never put deodorant in anyone’s stocking! Stockings should be filled with fun stuff.

  22. Vera

I have used this deodorant for about 13 years. Only other aluminum free one I’ve tried and liked was Native (from a sample box) but due to price I dont get it. Also, I only use the fresh scent of this one (it’s technically a men’s one due to the scent) but I like it because the smell isn’t so strong and I like the unscented too. I do not reapply (but I also can’t say that I don’t end up smelling sometimes by the end of the day)
Glad to see some people found it at Dollar Tree, I’ll have to look there

  23. Rn404

If there is baking soda in it i cant use it…burns me badly after a few uses

  24. Anonymous

Is that Collin? She looks different.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Nope! That’s one of our sidekicks named Taylor.

  25. Deidra

Just bought this at my Walmart yesterday. They are $2.68 at my store and Swagbucks has points back on it as of today.
