What price do you put on beauty products?

Following the latest trends in beauty and self-care can sometimes get pricey, but at what point are you willing to draw the line? A couple of months ago, my teammate Sara and I splurged on the insanely popular Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant to see what everyone seems to be raving about.

Sara was immediately not a fan of this spendy $32 deodorant, so I fully expected not to like it either. But the opposite actually happened, and I can now see why this is so popular. In fact, I just ordered it again because it’s finally back in stock! Keep reading for all the retailers who carry this viral deodorant.

This deodorant is rarely in stock, and, when it is, it’s also rarely on sale; right now, you can get it for 15% off at Macy’s!

Ever heard of Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant? Here are my thoughts!

If there was a luxury deodorant, this would be it!

I have been wearing Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant for several months, and the performance of this stick deodorant is undeniably superior. I live in extreme heat and dislike being sweaty! Plain and simple, it stops sweat and smell — I have no sweat and also no stress sweat! LOL! 😆 I am just honestly super impressed and it’s pretty unexpected for me.

It also appears I’m not alone as this deodorant has over 500 5-star reviews and seems to be sold out quite frequently!

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant

The light scent of this deodorant for me smells feminine like a mix of soft baby powder and sweet floral. I don’t mind it at all and in fact, I kind of dig it! I have honestly never smelled Donna Karan Cashmere Mist perfume, but I assume it would be similar.

thumbs up for Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant gets a thumbs up from me.

The deodorant’s texture is smooth and soft, and it totally makes me feel fresh all day. For reference, I normally wear Secret Clinical deodorant. This actually does a better job for me at both stopping sweat and odor all day long, and I feel super clean and feminine when wearing it.

The main downside for me is the steep price, so I’m thinking this could be an awesome special occasion deodorant for when I want to feel fancy! It does seem to last a long time though and could last as long as 2.5-3 months during super hot months for me.

But all that said, here’s what my Hip sidekick, Sara, thought about this deodorant:

Hey, ladies… Sara here!

You all know I take my beauty and self-care pretty seriously. I try my best to always use as many natural & organic products. If you ever saw my homemade deodorant post, it’s a telling sign of how passionate I am to live healthily while saving a buck where I can.

That said, sometimes ya just want to splurge on something high-end, and for some reason, I felt jumping on the popular $30 Donna Karan deodorant train would be worth my while. 😂 Don’t judge. Haha!

To be honest, I assumed at the price point of this deodorant it would contain only the best ingredients and be full of so much goodness, so I didn’t bother reading the ingredients to see if they aligned with my lifestyle. 😬 (Of course, that’s my fault, not Donna’s.) 🤣

Before trying it I was totally turned off by it. 😰

For me personally, I didn’t like that it had aluminum as the active ingredient along with fragrances – two things I like to avoid at all costs. I also felt calling it “deodorant”, when it’s actually an antiperspirant, was extremely misleading (and ultimately not my jam).

However, given the amazing reviews everywhere, I was still fully expecting it to have an amazing smell; one quick sniff and I was immediately overwhelmed by the strong floral smell – I guess fragrances just aren’t my thing either! 😖

All in all, I’m so thrilled that Lina does love it, and, being the Earth-lover I am, I’m so glad it’s not going to waste! ❤️

On the bright side, a Donna Karan aluminum free version is now available!

Only $27.20 shipped (regularly $32) on Nordstrom.com!

If you’re looking for a slightly cleaner formula, Donna Karan has now released an alcohol-free and aluminum-free deodorant! While it’s always good to have these options, a few reviews mentioned that they found this deodorant to be less effective than the original formula.

This deodorant notoriously goes out of stock frequently, which always sparks the rumor it’s being discontinued. However, its popularity has always brought it back time and time again. 👏

So here are the best retailers that may have this popular deodorant in stock:

I got two of these larger trial size in an advent calendar you guys posted about last year and I do love it. Unfortunately it is an antipersperant which I try to avoid so I don’t wear a lot sometimes I will just layer it on over my Tom’s deoderant if its going to be extra hot and I’m going somewhere special. Not worth that price tag though IMO. Here is the link for the calendar it was an amazing deal! https://www.macys.com/shop/product/created-for-macys-25-days-of-beauty-advent-calendar?ID=9453710

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing Maria! That’s a neat calendar!

  2. Kristi

I’ve been using this for years. It is by far the best performing deodorant on the market and I’ve tried them all.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing Kristi! I was super surprised at how awesome it works 😬

      • Sherry

I hate the new Donna Karan cashmere mist it’s oily sticky just like the old one better please bring back the old one I have been buying this for years when it was just 18 dollars now 32

    • Susan31652

I’ve been using it for over 10 years. It is the best! It goes on sale for a 3 pack at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year, so I stock up then. A tube lasts me a long time also fwiw.

  3. Jane

Lol, I feel guilty paying extra for the pretty dove spray I like so this one is too $$$ for me to consider!

  4. Sue

I’ve never tried the deodorant, but I use the perfume on a daily basis. It’s also expensive, so I usually ask my husband to buy it as an “only” Christmas gift. I’m hard to buy for, so it’s an easy purchase for him and everyone is happy!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ah I like that! It’s nice to splurge ona special scent. Thanks for sharing Sue!

  5. Jillian

Sara, have you tried Earth Mama Organics deodorant? It’s my absolute favorite. I love the ginger one, but lavender is great too! By far my favorite deodorant.

    • Sara

Thanks for the recommendation, Jillian! I’ll have to look into it when I’m due for some new deodorant! My homemade one is lasting so long – I love it! 🙂

      • Fabiola

Sara, Can you share your homemade deodorant recipe?

        • Sara

Yes! It’s linked above in the post, but you can also CLICK HERE and it will take you to the recipe! 🙂 Enjoy!

    • Virtualmare

Does Earth Mama stain all your clothes? I use it too and it ruins all mine. Ugg

  6. acgold

I have been buying this for my sister for years. It is always part of Nordstrom Anniversary sale. The price has gone up every year, but still a good deal.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh good to know about that Nordstrom’s sale cause now I’m hooked! Lol 😝 Thanks for sharing!

      • Susan31652

        Yes, it’s a 3 pack!

      • COCOHIX

I have been using DK’s deodorant for years and I have “loved it” ever since I was introduced to it at a local high end department store here in our small city!!! When I first purchased it I nearly gasped at the priced tag being $16 back then; but now at near double the price is almost unbearable when my income is the same or less than it was that many years ago. However; I love it so much and it works for me so well; goes with ANY fragrance I choose to wear that day, that I am stuck paying the price. I “never” knew about Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale! I will have to purchase it online as we do not have their store here, but I will be looking for their sale from now on!! Thanks ladies for the “heads up”!!

  7. andyscottage

It is the only one I use now. Every other one including the natural ones like Native and the crystal one did not work for me. Buy it on eBay. I have bought many expensive creams etc there.

  8. AshleyS

This is my favorite scent! I’m sensitive to scents and can’t handle much. Tommy Hillfiger cologne makes me physically ill…. along with several other overpowering scents. This “fun” quality about me seems to get stronger as I get older, ugh. Anywho, Donna Caren line is a light powder perfume that is delicate and perfect in my opinion. The only product I purchased several times over the years was the deodorant. I too now avoid antiperspirants but I love the idea of layering as mentioned above. So tempting!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes that is smart I agree!

  9. reginasavini

Be careful guys… I have gotten several counterfeit deodorants on Amazon, I’ll only buy in store or from Sephora now.

  10. Mirela

I bought this couple years ago from Kohl’s. Paired with $10 coupon when you buy $50 worth of. Love it! And yes, the price is going up…

  11. JenB

I got a (slightly smaller?) one in a Macy’s beauty box, probably the same one in their advent calendar since they make them with their beauty box items. It was nice but it didn’t do anything to rock my world.

  12. laura-24

It’s an antiperspirant with aluminum. No thanks

  13. Love Cashmere Mist

Its been a few months since I was able to find this… Now I got excited reading your post hoping I can order some… but its out of stock everywhere!

  14. Su

I’m ready to try anything! I sweat like pig! My Armpits stink right after shower!

    • AshleyS

I suggest checking out Duradry. Not their deodorant necessarily but their wash and PM stuff is life changing.

      • Su

Thank you! I had never heard of this product.

    • Zara

Ban roll-on is the only deodorant/ antiperspirant that keeps me dry. I use it in the summer and for special events. Also does not have white residue and doesn’t ruin my clothes. In the fall, winter and spring I mostly use my natural one.

    • K

Have you seen a doctor about it? My stepchild was like this, nothing would help. We saw several doctors but finally found a good one who run all kind tests… than BOTOX. It has been five years and he only needed it done twice. Life changing for a teenager. He had the worst underarm and feet smell. It didn’t matter how many times he washed or changed shoes and socks, it would never go away. It has to be a reputable doctor thought because it’s technically poison but then again most things can be.

      • Csandst1

Try soaking his feet in fresh brewed tea for 15 minutes. My son’s chiropractor says it works. He was an athletic trainer at a state college university. Haven’t tried it yet since basketball season is over 😂

  15. Christy

I heard about this deodorant years ago and also decided to try it and see what the big deal was. I LOVED it and have been using it ever since. I’m very sensitive to scent (migraines) and this smells light and powdery, not overwhelming at all. I’ve also gotten the perfume, it’s ok but I use it lightly. The deodorant is the best!
P.S. you don’t run out for a REALLY long time, lasts longer than a container of regular deodorant

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Christy!! I was wondering about that. It’s been several weeks now and it’s barely gone down so thinking it will last longer – yay!

  16. PrincessMom

OK, I’ve found over the years that I’m “a Lina” not “a Sara” (maybe there should be a H2S quiz…”which H2S blogger are you?” lol) so I tend to try things Lina likes. I’ll still pass on this unless I find a great sale price but it does sound awesome to me. 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

LOL that’s a fun idea! Thanks for sharing, I agree it’s an interesting splurge I would have never thought of! Ha!

    • Mcall26

      Love that idea!

  17. CateM

$29 for deodorant? 🙄 no thanks!

    • Laurie kerze

      Right?

  18. Jessica Lodge

Cashmere Mist is my scent, I have been wearing it for 15 years. I love the deodorant but I only use it occasionally because of the price. It is a great gift though, and I’m always happy when I receive it.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ah yay thanks for sharing Jessica!

  19. mrswagley

There are several sites that show that this brand does animal testing. I’m not sure how accurate the info is but here is one link. https://www.crueltyfreekitty.com/brands/donna-karan/ Many brands claim to be cruelty free but still allow their products to be tested on animals to be sold in China. Very sad stuff.

    • catmom

Thank you so much for the informative link for all the animal lovers on H2S. There is absolutely no reason to test on animals!

      • mrswagley

Glad to help for anyone that wants to know. I’ve been looking into it myself and I’m ashamed to admit I had a few brands around the house that I didn’t realize did this. I’m being much more careful now. Torturing animals for vain reasons especially is just so terrible.

    • Kris

Thank you for this! I was thinking of giving it a try, but not if it’s tested on animals!

  20. Amichael0323

I need some natural deodorant recommendations. I’ve tried just about everything, lume has been the best over the years but still not great.

    • Nell

Little Seed Farm deodorant is fantastic and affordable!

    • Lana

We use mineral salt crystals and they work well for us. It does not keep you dry but we will not use anything with aluminum. One crystal is about $5 and lasts an entire year.

    • ashleylayton

I am hooked on the one made by Ivory. Found it on sale at Sams club. All natural. It works well!

    • Tay

Someone’s already said Little Seed Farm, but I’ll say it again! I have super sensitive pits, and this is seriously the only deodorant-only that doesn’t give me a rash AND works all day. Kind of sad that it’s only available in a paste, but I’ll live with it for the results I get. They have a cheap “test” set on Amazon that comes with around 8 different scents, and each packet lasts for at least three uses. I can’t say enough good things about it! (Except I DO wish it was available in a stick!)

  21. Donica2013

    Hip2…. Spend?

    • CateM

This site has completely changed from when it first started. I Still love the site but some of the “deals” that get posted aren’t what I would consider a deal, like this post for example .. $29 for a deodorant all because of the brand name. There are many deodorants that work just the same if not better for much, much cheaper.

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi there – Yep this is more of just a fun/interesting product review and unreview actually 🤣 and not a specific deal like most of our posts.

  22. Janelle Lewis

I have tried everything natural from Lume, Native, Toms, etc. and I can tell you that a little of coconut oil, arrowroot powder and baking soda has solved everything for me. No wetness, no rashes, no smells. Super cheap and easy to make and I will never look back. May the odds be in your favor!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing Janelle!

  23. skittles91084

I’m not understanding….there is still aluminum in this which clogs your ducts and causes other issues….so why spend the $30?

  24. Marie

This is my best friend’s favorite deodorant but I can’t bring myself to spend the money hahaha but she LOVES it.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Awesome – ya it’s great.

  25. Vironika

Maybe it’s just me, but I wish it was sponsored — maybe we could get a discount on this one! Lol I just can’t afford to give this a try at that price.. :/ But filling it away, in the back of my mind! One day I might be able to! Thank you!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Haha right? I hear a three pack is often in the Nordstom’s sale so fingers crossed 🤞

  26. laurie-3

Thanks for sharing this. I have been using Lume unscented for several months now and I love it. It too is a bit pricey, but even living in the hot humid days of summer, I stay fresh!

  27. K

I am a big fan of Lume deodorant! It has a high odor control! I have never found anything that even compares!
If anyone is looking to try something new 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing K! That seems like a popular choice too!

  28. Aundrea

The best deodorant I’ve ever used is Truvani! All natural ingredients, like maybe 5 total. No aluminum. And it doesn’t make me stink! Most deodorants will make me smell even worse so I’ve been very picky with what I use and gave used clinical degree for almost 10 yrs. Truvani blew me away!!! I tried it because they had a special on Facebook, but 1 get 2 free. I use their protein & collagen powders as well and have been very happy. Even the protein powder only gas 5 ingredients! You can purchase on Amazon

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing your favorite!

  29. GG

Hi I’ve been using Donna Karan Cashmere for over 10 years , love it !!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing GG. 😀

  30. Brandon

Is there a men’s version? Lol

  31. Falcon

I liked the performance but just didn’t care for the scent. I got a sample in the Macy’s Advent Calendar and thankfully did not pay $29! I will check out some of the other products that people have mentioned. Appreciate the two different viewpoints!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing Falcon!

  32. Annie Mellen

Degree Clinical deodorant has 40% MORE of the same active ingredient and is WAY cheaper.

  33. Jen

I’ve been using Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant since the late 1990’s. I thought the price tag of $11.00 at the time was steep. One “trick” to making it last longer is to use an unscented deodorant underneath it and use just one or two swipes of the Donna Karan. The bonus to this scent is that, this is what I was told when it was released, is that it’s safe for migraine suffers: which I am and it’s never caused me problems.

  34. jennifer-65

I recently browsed the deodorant aisle in my local stores and couldn’t believe some of the prices… $30 seems to be a bit high price point, I would probably try Native at the $12 price point first, some of the more common Secret, Degree, have options that are going for almost $18 now🤦🏻‍♀️

  35. kelly

I love Cashmere Mist- as a smell for perfume- but the deodorant contains aluminum. I won’t use it. Just an FYI we all make our own choices. I already have terminal cancer- but still …lol.

  36. Tiffany

Ok I scrolled down without reading comments… but I have found the best place to buy the deodorant is at ulta.. they send out a $10 off coupon (via email) that can be used online/in store on high end fragrances and this is included. I have bought this for my daughter (using coupon) as she loves it as well. So I got it for $20 + tax retails for $30 at ulta)

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Good deal! Thanks for sharing Tiffany!

  37. Luna

It’s not misleading- a product can be an antiperspirant AND deodorant.

  38. Erin

On sale for 50 % off so $15 each on DKNY.com with code WINTER50!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for mentioning that, Erin! We’ve added that option to the post! 💕

  39. Camille McBride

I always buy a 3 pack for about $60 every December from Nordstrom. They only offer this 3 pack occasionally and it’s a good deal.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Nice! I love that deal 🙌🏼
