More Walmart

If your pantry could use a little TLC, I’m here to tell you Walmart has the best food storage containers that create a clean & cohesive look for less!

Spring cleaning is calling! 🧹

I’m grateful to have a dedicated pantry in my home, but I didn’t love the chaos inside until I streamlined it with a bundle of food storage containers I spotted at Walmart. I’m hooked on before and after reveals of home organization projects so, in an attempt to create my own, I stuck with one style for clear food storage and a more decorative style for concealing goodies from plain sight.

Stick with me until the end because the before and after are totally worth it! 🤩

As I mentioned, pantries can quickly become cluttered and chaotic. If your cabinets are looking anything like mine 😳, you may be searching for some affordable pantry organization ideas, too!

Here’s a peek at what my pantry looked like just a few weeks ago. 😬😳 Thank goodness for doors. HAHA!

Walmart food storage containers and bins to the rescue!

To say I was ecstatic when Walmart asked me to be a part of this fun project is a total understatement.

However…what Walmart doesn’t know is that I loved the quality of everything so much, I went back to the store and bought more before writing this post! 😆 And how could I not when the prices are so much more reasonable than the brand name competitors?!

Here are the Walmart food storage containers I scooped up:

Come to find out Walmart offers tons of pantry organization ideas. Including their own brand of airtight containers that look JUST like the popular (and expensive) competitors.

I was sold at first sight. 😍 Plus, they have endless sizes available which were exactly what I knew I needed to get my space in tip-top shape.

There was a size to perfectly fit every one of my dry food needs and they provide such a clean and simple aesthetic!

Here are all the clear food storage container sizes I scooped up:

Although these pantry organization ideas are super affordable there was absolutely no compromising on the quality! 🙌🏻 Phew! I knew they had a LOT to live up to since I’ve owned competitors’ containers in the past.

The Better Homes & Gardens Flip-Tite containers are dishwasher safe, incredibly easy to open (even for kids!), and stackable so you can really maximize every inch of your space!

Even my kiddos took immediate notice of them and said how much they love them. Most notably, how easily we can all see the entire pantry now (without shuffling through messy boxes and bags).

Plus, they even commented on how fun (and easy) they are to open. You know you’ve got an amazing product when your kids can’t stop talking about them. 😌

Game-changing, friends!

When thinking about how to give some extra flair to my pantry organization project, I also stumbled on these gorgeous rattan crates. Four of them fit perfectly across one shelf so it felt like it was meant to be! 👏🏻

Plus, they’re durable and convenient for storing all of the odd and ends dry foods I still had sitting in my pantry. Such as cans, tortilla shells, and boxes of mac n’ cheese – all foods which aren’t ideal for the clear airtight containers. Plus, I love the mix of traditional food storage containers with these on-trend decorative baskets in my pantry.

Ready for the before and after showing off all my new food storage containers?! 😍

before and after of pantry organization

I’m beyond thrilled with my new pantry (thanks, Walmart!)

There’s no denying the entire space looks completely different and the price compared to the brand-name containers is nearly half the cost! Yet, the quality is still just as great. I’ve already found myself browsing more options in the store I love them so much.

While I already owned my turntable shown, here’s an affordable one I found at Walmart for you to complete your space.

Hip Tip: Scoop up some of these wine glass markers to take your organization to the next level! Easily write expiration dates, cooking instructions, and whatever else you need to stay organized!

By far my favorite thing about these pantry organization ideas was getting to throw out all of the mix-matched boxes and bags. I’m a minimalist at heart so there’s truly no better organization in my book!

If you’ve been debating on scooping up some new pantry organization, your home and your wallet will love these! 👏🏻

Thanks for sticking with me friends! I hope it was worth it and I hope you have SO much fun shopping for some new organization that will last for years to come! 🤩

Don’t mind me…I’ll just be taking the doors off my pantry now. 🤣

what do you do when you buy more food, but the container isn’t quite empty? Like sugar, flour, etc. Do you store it somewhere or empty, pour new in, and then top off with the old stuff?

    • ttMcG

Buy some extra containers. I bought two of the large set of 10 containers (on sale for Black Friday for $30) and a few sets of the slim rectangles, now I have plenty of extra empty containers. Otherwise a mason jar or have a basket with the partial bags that need to be containerized.

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Alyssa! I do have a few extra containers on hand but if I’m not out of something I don’t buy more until it’s gone. I tend to be pretty minimalist when it comes to food and only buy what we need according to our weekly meal plans. In the rare case something doesn’t fit in a container I stash the leftover bag in a small basket we have at the bottom of our pantry and I try to use that up first so we don’t have extra bags of food floating around. I hope this helps!

We bought these for myself and my sister on Black Friday 2 years ago. They were a great price. I like that I can get extras in the sizes I need. They definitely compare to the OXO in keeping things fresh.

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

So glad you love them too! Thanks for sharing!

  4. mindi

We have these too and love them!

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

That’s wonderful to hear, Mindi! I’m so glad they’ve worked so well for you too!

  5. Tricia

I have these. They are nice but don’t lift by the lid. Some pop right off.

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

Good to know, Tricia. I haven’t experienced that with mine, but I’ll be sure to keep this in mind. Thank you for sharing!

  6. Pam

I have these and LOVE them! They keep everything fresh and don’t break the bank.

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

That’s wonderful to hear, Pam! I’m so glad you love them too and the price compared to other brands truly can’t be beaten! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. kevashell

The shelves are almost barren compared to mine! I think I have on one shelf what she has on all 3. Omg and only putting 5 cans in one basket. Lord have mercy!

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

LOL! You are cracking me up, kevashell! 😂 We truly don’t invest in a ton of dry foods. (the bulk of our groceries are fresh whole foods) so our dry pantry always looks kind of minimal. I can’t say the same about our produce counters, fridge, and freezer though. 😆 However, if it makes you feel better, we have cabinets full of canned tomatoes for sauces (among other things)…they’re just stored in a different area of our kitchen that works well for us when cooking. If you do try these containers I hope you love them!

Sams club has a great set too.

    • Sara (Hip Sidekick)

Good to know, thanks for sharing!

I think I may have missed the link for the turntable?

Curious what helps with brown sugar getting hard in these types of containers?
I don’t have these exact containers but have OXO brand that are similar where you have to push the top “button” down to seal/lock them & I’ve found that my brown sugar gets brick hard a lot sooner than if I were to just keep it in the bag & use a clamp to tie it off! Yes, the container was was always kept sealed if not using it.
    Any suggestions?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! I just spoke with Sara and she let me know that she uses this Brown Sugar Saver. She let me know that it has kept the sugar as soft as the day it came out of the bag.

      • Meegan

Throw a couple large marshmallows in with your brown sugar and it will always stay fresh & soft.

    • SV

I have the set of OXO and they do not keep the brown sugar fresh. In fact some of the lids come off very easily and don’t seal. I usually keep the brown sugar in the bag and in the container. It works really well that way. Easy to use but still in a container and bag. I am looking at this set but wondering if I will have the same issue? Anyone know if these seal better then the OXO?

I just bought these less than a week ago at our Walmart. The cereal sized ones were on the clearance aisle for $17! I’ve been slowly getting everything in my home and kitchen out into storage containers and it’s addicting because it makes everything look so much nicer and less cluttered.

  12. Sharon Johnson

These look nice. I’m old school I guess and have always used Tupperware round containers for my flours, sugar, and rice. I use the oval red top ones for the brown and confectionery sugars. Of course they are all considered vintage I’m sure as I am . 😊

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing what you use for storage, Sharon! Glad to hear your Tupperware is working well for storing pantry items! 🤗💕
