With nearly 70K 5-star reviews, we couldn’t wait to give this scalp massager a try…
Treat yourself… or not?
However, one affordable trend that recently caught our attention had us running for the bathroom to lather up our locks. We’re sharing if this simple shower tool is really as dreamy as the 69,000+ 5-star reviews say it is.
Introducing the HEETA Scalp Massager on Amazon – JUST $7.98!
It’s hard to put a price on self-care, especially when there are simple things you can do on your own at home to unwind & relax after a long day. So when my Hip teammate Bryn and I heard about this scalp massager we were stoked to give it a try!
This scalp massager is supposed to wash your hair & scalp more thoroughly, ease itchiness (great for those with dry scalps), and promote better circulation. Plus, it’s supposed to feel super good too, so who wouldn’t want to try something like this for such an inexpensive cost?!
Here are some other key features that drew us to trying the scalp massager:
- The amazing reviews. When something has nearly 70,000 5-star reviews raving about a product, it’s hard to resist!
- Ergonomic design. Easy to use, lightweight, and fits perfectly in your hands.
- Better for your nails. Whether you have thin nails or don’t want to mess up your perfect polish, this scalp massager won’t damage nails.
- Hangs up to dry. It comes with a convenient string so you can hang it in your shower to dry which is also more sanitary.
So is it all it’s cracked up to be?
I’ve got to be honest, friends, this thing just isn’t doing it for me! I was dreaming about daily scalp massages in the shower but found it to be way more of a hassle than I anticipated. And quite frankly, it’s a little too harsh for my scalp too. 😬
No one likes adding extra steps when they’re getting ready, so for me, this thing is a no-go.
I first tried washing my hair after putting shampoo on the scalp massager, but it wasn’t easy to move around with my long hair and it got stuck everywhere! Then I tried putting shampoo on first and moving the scalp massager around but got the same lousy results.
This leads me to ask, how the heck does this thing have almost 70K reviews?! 🤣 All in all, I’m thankful this is the worst of my problems, so I can’t really complain!
To top it off, the entire scalp massager feels pretty cheap, so I don’t suspect this will last too long. Plus, the handle which is supposed to be ergonomic, feels tiny in my hand and isn’t very comfortable to hold.
Phew!… This is one time I’m thankful for free Amazon Prime returns! 👏🏻 It’s probably worth mentioning that I actually did try returning my scalp massager before writing this post. Not only did I get a refund, but I also got to keep it too! I guess it was worth a try after all, huh? 😂
All of that said, if you still want to give this scalp massager a try, I think it would work WONDERFULLY on any dog with short hair.
I imagine it would become your dog’s new best friend, great at scrubbing down their short hair, and likely very easy to hold while you wash your pup. Although, I don’t have a dog to test it out, so it will remain a mystery to me until I hear from one of you if you’ve tried it before! 😂
Here’s what my Hip sidekick, Bryn, had to say about this scalp massager:
“After seeing how highly rated this product was, I was excited to order it and try it out! Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Since I have fairly long and thick hair, I quickly discovered that this brush easily tangled my hair.
I was also excited about the possibility of using it to shampoo my hair to prevent my newly polished nails from chipping/peeling but it did not work for washing my hair either as it didn’t create enough of a lather. With that, I was not able to easily move the brush along my scalp due to it getting caught in my hair. Amazon FAIL!”
