Do you have the hatch? I have it and have never paid a monthly or yearly fee. As I just posted below to someone else that the unwind section is not free but the sleep section has many free sounds (like 8+). The wake alarm has free sounds too (though more limited than the free sleep sounds).
Tell me more about how you use this without the subscription. I am able to use mine without the subscription just by pushing the buttons on the top and the side but I can only use one function and that is the rain sound that was the last sound that I had used.
It has some free sounds, but a lot of the meditations and various features require a monthly subscription. I feel like for the price it should have more free content.
Does anyone know how to get the free sounds? Mine is just a super expensive paper-weight because I didn’t want to continue paying the monthly sub.
There are several sounds that are free. I did not do the free trial on the sounds and when I open my app, I have options like light rain, heavy rain, fan noise, tranquil night, ocean waves, a stream, pink noise and one that sounds like a camp fire (I cannot remember the name). I have never paid for anything except when I purchased the unit.
Looking at the app – the “unwind” options all require a subscription but the sounds under “Sleep” that I use are free. I have 15 minutes of light rain set with the night light and then 2 hours of heavy rain (no light). I wake to the birds (chirping) and a sunrise each day. All free.

I think it depends on the Hatch you got. If you got the free one I think it doesn’t contu=inus to let you use the options at all. But I can still use the buttons on the unit itself to turn on the light and the sound to the last one I had played. The app itself won’t let me do anything.
I love my Hatch! I used to wake up stressed tf out from my phone alarm but now I wake up feeling so much more calm and refreshed with the morning sunrise routine. I pay annually which I find is the best deal over the monthly sub.

I don’t have this device…so can’t speak to it. Our family uses our google minis to play white noise at night. Doesn’t cost extra and there are various sounds you can play. Just a suggestion if you are looking for something ‘cheaper’.
That sounds like a great suggestion. Another mom suggested Hatch for my toddler though now I know about the monthly fee that’s going to be a no.
I just use YouTube. It has lots of choices – I like howling winds and ocean storms.
