What is Nuuly Maternity rental?

Nuuly is a monthly clothing rental subscription by URBN (the parent company of Anthropologie, Free People, & Urban Outfitters) that lets you rent 6 high-quality pieces for a flat fee. Perfect for updating your wardrobe without buying new clothes.

They offer regular clothing, maternity, plus-size, and petite options!

How much is Nuuly per month?

A Nuuly subscription costs $98 per month and includes six clothing rentals. You can also add extra items to your box for $20 each. The best part is that you can pause or cancel your subscription anytime, giving you total flexibility.

I started using Nuuly about a year ago when my Hip sidekick, Emily, told me about it. I’m the type of person who will spend $100+ for one “special event” outfit and never wear it again, so the idea of renting 6 pieces a month for slightly less than that seemed really intriguing.

And I’ve been hooked ever since!

When I found out I was pregnant, there was no question that I was going to use Nuuly maternity when I started showing. In fact, it’s turned into so much more than just renting for special occasions. I’ve found myself renting staples that I would otherwise never invest in since they will only fit for a short season.

Since renting Nuuly maternity clothes, I’ve rented a box for nearly 6 months straight! 🤩

To rent maternity clothes every month just makes sense, and it’s more sustainable.

Pregnancy brings constant body changes. One week, your jeans fit, and the next, they’re impossible to button. That’s why I love the idea of renting instead. With Nuuly, I can pick out stylish, bump-friendly pieces that actually make me feel good, without the guilt (or clutter) of buying a whole new wardrobe. It’s such a sustainable and freeing way to dress through all the stages of pregnancy and for every season. Plus, it’s something I’ve felt good about treating myself to.

It’s also been a lifesaver for special events I’ve had since being pregnant, like bridal showers, maternity photos, a gala, and more!

If you’re someone like me who lives in four-season weather, you know how quickly the temperature (and your wardrobe needs) can change. Renting through Nuuly makes it easy to swap cozy knits for breezy dresses or layer-friendly pieces with every box.

How does the Nuuly clothes subscription work?

Once you start your Nuuly subscription, you get to keep your items for a full month (from the day you ordered) before sending them back.

Shipping is also very quick! 🚛💨📦

I’ve received some of my boxes in less than 24 hours after ordering, and none have taken longer than 3 days (and that was simply due to it being a weekend or holiday).

If you fall in love with one of your items, you can even choose to purchase it at a discounted price. Some of the pieces can be pretty pricey, but I’ve scored a few amazing deals from previous boxes. One of my best scores was a pair of Ingrid + Isabel Seamless Shapewear Shorts that I bought for under $9, and I’ve worn them countless times under dresses!

When your month is up, you simply pack your items in the reusable Nuuly bag, stick on the included return label, and drop it off at the post office. What’s nice is that you can pause or cancel your subscription almost immediately after returning your box, which I love because I tend to stretch that month as long as possible, and I’m not always ready to renew my subscription right away.

I’ve really enjoyed using Nuuly maternity during my pregnancy. I’ve ordered clothes for every season, from beach trips to cozy cold-weather staples. It’s also saved me time by not going to stores and trying things on since everything arrives right at my door, and I get to try it all in the comfort of my home.

Plus, it’s given me the freedom to try new styles and feel put-together without the stress (or expense) of constantly buying new maternity clothes.

Here are the maternity rental clothes I got in my most recent Nuuly delivery:

How to pick the best items for YOU:

Reading the reviews on Nuuly is super important to make sure the items you choose are truly meant for you and your body type. Other reviewers often share their height, size, and fit details, which makes it so much easier to know what will work best for you.

The reviews are also really helpful for setting expectations on fabric quality and condition. I’ve seen notes about pieces arriving more worn or running really small, so I always take their advice before renting. Following the feedback from others with similar body types has worked out so well for me, and almost every time, I end up really happy with how my items fit, pregnant or not.

Unfortunately, you aren’t able to return individual items if you’re unhappy with the fit or condition once your Nuuly box arrives. This is definitely the one downside to renting with Nuuly. However, in the few instances when I’ve received an item that was damaged or in noticeably poor condition, their customer service team has been incredibly responsive. Each time, I’ve been offered a quick refund or credit without any hassle, which has made those rare situations much easier to deal with.

Overall, I can’t recommend Nuuly Maternity enough if you’re an expecting mom who wants to feel stylish, comfortable, and confident without spending a fortune on clothes you’ll only wear for a short time. It’s been such a game-changer for me throughout pregnancy. From trying new styles, experimenting with brands I love, and always having something that fits my growing bump.

Between the flexibility, the high-quality options, and the ease of the entire process, Nuuly has made dressing during pregnancy feel fun. Whether you’re renting for everyday wear, a special occasion, or just to refresh your wardrobe for a new season, it’s truly one of the best things I’ve done for myself during this pregnancy.
