holding a package of leggings depot leggings via amazon

There’s nothing better than comfy leggings!

They’re just so versatile, and they’re basically a must whether I’m working from home or on the go. Comfort is a major priority, so a great tunic top and pair of leggings is my jam. This means I’m always looking out for different brands of leggings to try out.

wearing super thin leggings from amazon

I recently came across a popular website article recommending these highly-rated Legging Depot leggings. In fact, the article said these leggings “were taking over Amazon”, so I had to try them!

I bought a size XL in a color called marsala for only $12.99 and was really looking forward to seeing these magical leggings.

bottom seem of legging depot leggings

Result: I didn’t love them…. at all 🙁

Such a bummer when that happens, right? These Leggings Depot brand leggings are super thin and not great quality. I mean, look at that popped stitching.

They are soft but already faded looking (more like tights, in my opinion). They show every bump, lump, and dimple – and they, unfortunately, didn’t match my expectations from all the great reviews on Amazon.

pair of 90 degree leggings

Marshall’s or TjMaxx will no doubt have a better pair of leggings for a similar price – or at least slightly thicker and more substantial. In fact, my favorite brand of leggings are 90 Degrees, and also Tuff Athletics brand I sometimes find at Costco.

thumbs down to these amazon leggings

That said, maybe we all like our leggings a little different, and these just weren’t for me.

Online, it’s tricky sometimes to tell texture, how stretchy things are, and how thin the material is going to be. These leggings weren’t for me, but plenty of people seem to love Leggings Depot leggings, and maybe you’ve even purchased them.

Fortunately, Amazon clothing returns are easy, so mine are going back!

I agree with you! Bought them Bc women at work have them and love them. Well, I’m used to VS leggings that feel very supportive, are not see through, and really hold up. The Leggings Depot were a huge disappointment. I wore them twice and then noticed all of these holes in the waistband—I had never even put them into the dryer! Let them air dry so they wouldn’t fade. Maybe I’ll get them if I need a certain color or holiday theme—I work for the school system so we can dress dorky like that—but they are definitely not made for regular wear.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sorry you were disappointed too! You’re right, no support at all. LOL

    • ash.krist

You clearly have not bought vs leggings lately because they are definitely not as you described anymore which is super disappointing.

      • Ashley

You need to know WHICH Vs leggings to buy. When I buy new ones I search “foldover” They are much heavier and hold up VERY well! I buy 3-4 pair a year and wear them all of the time. They smooth out my 3 c-section belly and hold up great

        • Snowflake1211

Agree! I have had some foldover that I’ve had for 3 or 4 years and I work out in them (air dry them) and they are the nearly the same today as they were when I got them!

      • Karen

Will you post a link to the folder leggings?

        • Karen

          FOLDOVER LEGGINGS

        • Karen

          I meant folder leggings

    • Lisa

Lolz about dressing dorky in school work. I make fun of my sister who works in a school all the time and tell her to shop at cjbanks for the embroidered denim jumpers.

      • Jennifer

        😂😂😂

  2. Julnjim

    90 degrees all the way.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      YES!!! So good. <3

    • Sar

Love 90 Degrees. My gymnast daughter wears the shorts to practice every day and they last forever!

      • Renee

My dancer daughter loves 90 degree shorts and leggings. I get them at Marshall’s and tj maxx

  3. Meredith

I only wear the Hue brand. They can be found at Belk, Dillard’s and online. I like the ponte style with the pockets. That way if I wear a blouse that’s not long you can’t see all my lumps and bumps. Plus who doesn’t like pockets? I’ve had 3 pairs for over 3 years. No fading at all and only one has a small hole but I wear each pair at least once a week. I just purchase two more a few months ago. They are a bit higher in price but higher quality and last longer. Also, I only wear that style. I do find some of their others to fit differently and the fabric doesn’t feel the same.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Meredith! I love pockets and will check them out! 🙂

    • Bunny

Thanks for the recommendation Meredith. Macy’s has the Hue style with the pocket (gets five star rating) on sale (plus 6% back with Rakuten).

  4. Dawn

Here’s a tip worth sharing – download the Fakespot app. Many items in Amazon have fake reviews to boost the stars. Fakespot analyzes the reviews and gives a letter grade A-F based on repetitive verbiage.
That said – I ran a analysis on these leggings and they got an A rating, so people really do like them.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Interesting, and that is a Great tip! Thanks for sharing Dawn 🙂

    • Lily

Hi! I downloaded the app and there’s no search bar or anything. Not sure how to use it.

      • Carolyn

To use the Fakespot app in a browser like Safari, when you’re on a page with an item, click on the “send to” option on the browser bar at the top right of the link address and Fakespot will show up as one of the options, so you just click on it and a pop up box will show up on your screen. If you use the Amazon app, you click on the “share” option located on the right side of the screen, next to the “add to list” option, Fakespot link is there.

  5. babymair

Thx , 4 post ,same 4 me .I thought I was the only one that hated them .The one leg was tighter than the other .I got better leggings on sale at kohl’s. Thx to hip2save . I often sometimes wonder about that many 5 star reviews. keep up the good work and God bless .

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aw thanks so much- you too! And that’s a bummer about the legs!

  6. Juma

That is a pretty color. Marshall’s/TJ Maxx/Ross/Burlington are my go to for leggings/capris/ shorts. I can pull stretch inspect them to make sure they aren’t see through. I have a pair of cotton leggings that are 10 years old (Reebok), so soft and comfy. Ugh they are on their last legs lol starting to see small holes in them. So now I just wear them in the house, such good quality and cool in the summer (well they used to be). They will eventually become a dust rag. Glad that you are sending them back.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I have a pair of sweats that I have taken to a seamstress to fix because I can’t give up! LOL Yes Love Marshall’s and Ross too for items like this! Thanks Juma!

  7. Crystal

Good to know, thanks for the review. Sometimes even after reading good reviews I can still get skeptical!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure and yes, so can I!

  8. Colleen D.

My favorite are FABULEGS by Melissa. It’s a private company. She releases 12 new prints every month.( 2 kids sizes, small, med, large, xlarge , and capris) prices are reasonable. And she really is amazing and runs a lot of great sales. She also sells a few other things. My fiancé loves the fabulegs for men boxers and pillow cases both made of her super soft legging material.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh thanks for sharing Colleen!

    • Karen Pond

1000% agree! Fabulegs by Melissa are my go-to leggings! Great prices, tons of sales, easy to use website!

      • Amy

I completely, agree! I love Fabulegs By Melissa. The prints and patterns (and solid colors) are amazing. Best of all, the leggings are so comfortable!

      • TeriFLA

I’m checking her out now. All the leggings I buy now, seem to be really poor quality. Thx guys, for the tip. And I’m stopping by Costco tomorrow.

  9. Beth

I love the great deals on clothing that I score on Amazon, but I’ve learned not to even bother unless it has free shipping AND free returns. I’ve had to send quite a few purchases back. But, I’ve also found some gorgeous stuff that I’ve kept.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing Beth. Yes online clothing shopping is a bit harder for me in general and feel like it’s all a guess, so free returns are awesome!

  10. Fish

Amazon has a lot fake reviews now. Some of the reviewers can get the product for free if they provide a positive review.

  11. rae

I ordered the 90 degree 90 Degree By Reflex – High Waist Power Flex Legging – Tummy Control and loved how they felt and looked but the fabric got wierd after a few washes. I would buy more and wash them more carefully if they went on sale but I haven’t seen one. The best ones I’ve gotten from Amazon have been

Fengbay High Waist Yoga Pants, Pocket Yoga Pants Tummy Control…

For a smooth look. I only buy leggings from amazon with prime because they are so easy for returns:)

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I agree with prime! Thanks for the rec Rae- I’ll check those out too!

  12. Lindy Adamavage Trimble

Oh my goodness, if you want the best leggings from amazon, I swear by the IcyZone leggings. They feel just like lululemon if not better quality for a fraction of the price. I got gifted a pair a couple of years ago and have only bought from them since.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh interesting! I will check those out too- thanks Lindy!

    • Sarah

Thanks for the tip! I bought the featured Amazon legging as well. My paired had an inner thigh seam miss resulting in a 4″ hole

  13. KS

I hope this doesn’t discourage people from trying the Leggings Depot leggings. I live in leggings and I LOVE them. I also love the No Boundaries sueded jersey leggings from Walmart for $5.88. I probably own 30 pairs between the two. I generally get my black leggings from Amazon Leggings Depot because finding black leggings in your size is sometimes like finding a unicorn at an actual store! I am not skinny and have plenty of bumps and these leggings are fine! Do they suck in your stomach bulge? No, but they are super soft and comfortable and a long shirt fixes that anyway!! 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing!

  14. Kayla

I’ve heard great things about Queenie Ke leggings on Amazon! I haven’t tried them yet, but people compare them to Lululemon. They have a lot of styles and colors.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Great! Thanks for sharing with us- I’ll have to check those out!

  15. Lauren

I have actually bought two pairs of these leggings and I LOVE them! So I think it’s just a preference thing. I do agree they are more of a legging type, but they are buttery soft and stretch really well. I actually am not a huge fan of compression type leggings because I find them to just get uncomfortable if I wear them for an extended period of time, so these are great for me. My favorite around the house or running out for some quick errand leggings.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing your positive experience Lauren!

  16. tibby

Same experience here. I bought them for my daughter & she really disliked them. The 90 degree ones are great!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing Tibby!

  17. amy

I love Legging Depot! I have bought so many from them. I love the styles and they fit me just great. I have only had an issue with one pair- out of countless. Amazon even let me return them.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Perfect! Thanks for sharing Amy!

  18. Nels

Had the same experience with the “most popular dress on amazon” that was posted couple of weeks ago. It was so awful that I can’t help but think that reviews were bought with free products. I mean even Walmart clothes is better than that cheap Chinese garbage

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh no! lol I love that dress 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts though!

    • Camille

100% agree about the dress. It is now a stay at home dress only if I have nothing else to wear.

  19. silverfanatic

Oh no! I love LuLaRoe. It’s practically all I buy anymore. With that being said, I was totally expecting this to be a surprise type post. Something along the lines of “I hate them so much because they are amazing and I had to spend my money and buy every single color”. Haha.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh ha 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • Lis

Ditto about the Lularoe! They are amazingly soft and a zillion patterns, prints and colors!

      • Dawn1029

Lularoe is garbage. They are a terrible company that caused many women to go into debt. Not only that, the quality is lousy. I can’t tell you how many pairs I have that got pinholes or worse…complete butt blowout.

  20. Seeking

I love these leggings. I’m not really looking for compression style leggings when I wear these. I don’t think you can compare the two styles! I don’t consider them the same legging style.

  21. Angel

I like this brand of leggings. I don’t wear leggings as pants, only under dresses and I like capri leggings too. I guess if you wear leggings as pants, these are definitely too thin for that. But really … leggings aren’t actually pants so …

  22. KetaCar

Yes! LOVE the 90 degree leggings I got within the last month with the Sam’s Club deal posted here. The fabric is amazing & provides just the right amount of compression

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing! Yes, love those too.

  23. dawn

Thanks for the review. I’m always in search of leggings. I love the maternity leggings from target! Lol. I no longer need them for that reason but they are comfortable, wash great and are not too tight in tummy area (special panel) and come up high so they look great (no lumps) under tops. Good prices and colors, too!

    • Heidi

Lol Iove my motherhood maternity leggings for the same reason… Still wear them and lo is one 😁

  24. tia in boise

I have an olive pair and a black pair of these. I love them! Yes, they are a bit thinner–but when I’m in a classroom of thirty 10 years olds and running around all day, I don’t need extra clothing/heat! I accidentally purchased a size-too-small in the olive pair, so they are REALLY like tights–but they still work for what I bought them for.

  25. Valerie

I’ve purchased two pairs of the depot joggers. They are super comfortable with pockets. I’m happy with them. I have not purchased the leggings.

  26. Meg

I’ve bought these two, and I love them.
They feel and look the same, so they may be from the same manufacturer, and possibly the same as Leggings Depot! lol They truly are, “Just like butter,” as far as how they feel, and they’ve held up nicely after washing. Disclaimer: I wear them around the house, or like they’re tights under stuff to work. I am not one who wears leggings as pants, so I don’t necessarily have the same expectations of them, if that makes sense.

  27. Dee

Ann Taylor used to have amazing leggings that weren’t so thick that they flattened you out in the places you may want a curve but they had great elasticity and thickness to smooth out. Not the leggings you would wear under a skirt like tights. More like pants and not see through. I am on a quest to find the perfect pair as well. Question, how should leggings be sewn on the inside to have the most flattering shape? For example with built in control top possibly?

  28. Jessica King

I’m short and slender and find that childrens leggings in size 16 fit me better and are also so much cheaper than womens or juniors. I like childrens place stuff alot and kohls. It saves me so much money buying in kids rather than ladies dept and I get free shipping online with childrens place too. Win win.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s awesome! My mom in law can do that too, and I’m jealous! ha

    • Holly

Agreed! I buy clothing and shoes from childrens place for myself too. Many kids clothing have cute prints and I like to wear them as pajamas for fun😝

    • LT

Ditto!!! With a petite stature, juniors is my go to or Children’s place and in Walmart as well!!! Even some name brands like Buckle can fit me without breaking my bank and find it in EBay. Thank for the dear x-hubby who thinks out of the box in terms of clothing lol 😆

    • *Angela-Miles*

I shop in the kids alot too. JCPenney kids clothes fit me really well. I rock the kids workout clothes and always wonder if anyone notices Lol 😝💁

  29. Casey Meyers

When I think of leggings I think the ones you wear with tunics not the workout kind.

  30. Lisa

I actually love these leggings. I mean, they aren’t the best quality leggings ever, but they are comfortable, look good and are cheap. I’ve never had seam issues like you show with any of the pairs I have. I also don’t have a problem with them showing ever dimple of my body. Then again, I’m 5’5 1/2 and weigh 97 pounds.

  31. Jennifer

Maybe you received a bad pair, I have tons of them and love them!

  32. Shari M

I absolutely love hue leggings they had some it Costco last year that I absolutely adored they were to pair for 1699 I think and I even went on eBay this year or two by several more pair because I love them so much they have just the right amount of body they’re not real thin they don’t feel cheap and even when you stretch him a lot you can’t see through them like some of the less expensive ones are will even some expensive ones aren’t as nice. My understanding is Macys has a whole line of them I haven’t been there to check it out yet but I think they are fantastic and high quality

  33. Laure

I think it’s a preference thing. I bought these leggings and love them, and they are as thick as I want go in leggings. If they were thicker, I’d return them. However, I only wear leggings with dresses or skirts, usually dresses that I think are a tad too short to be worn without leggings (or tights) i.e. I want more coverage, or I want more warmth. I never wear leggings instead of pants, like with tunics, so it makes sense you are looking for something totally different!

  34. QueenieNYC

This actually happen to me when I bought the Amazon recommend iPhone chargers…. It only last like a month and also the tea pot I bought only last like a year… I don’t trust those review any more…. The charger I bought in .99 place actually last longer…lol

  35. N

Not sure why this is on hip2save.

  36. Julie

Has anyone tried Pop Fit leggings? They are more compression, not workout worthy, but not like a regular cotton blend either. I have not worn mine officially yet, but I tried on and washed them and they looked okay. What I think I will love about them is a built-in pocket for a cell phone or keys. I think I saw the ad on FB and I took a chance. I’m a big gal and they have sizes from petite to a real plus size woman modeling the leggings.

    • Luna

My Favorite work out leggings are underarmor and also love express pointe leggings great style and quality! Thanks for the post will check out some of them but can anyone compare them to underarmor express etc

  37. Leavesbegintofall

Thank you for the amazon clothing review!!! Please keep em coming!! I do so much clothing shopping online these days and some of the reviews on Amazon are so iffy, I’m never really sure if they’re real or not. I usually go right to reviewers photos to see them for myself. I love to have such an in depth review from you all and then read other posters input too!

  38. Stephanie

My favorite leggings are from Wal-Mart 😊 the Time and Trues are amazing 😍 but I also buy the No Boundaries since they are $3.88….they are more like tights though since they can be a little see through but great to wear with dresses and really long tunics.

  39. Karen Bartlett

I only buy jeggings that way I never get anything see through and they wear well. They are not heavy either. I have gotten them from kohls and also watch on groupon deals!

  40. *Angela-Miles*

Might be a weird place to get them, but my number one leggings is a pair I got at Kroger!! 😀. I love leggings and live in them, wear them as pants with no shame LOL. I’m also petite so I shop in the junior section alot. I Have a ton of leggings from the Walmart juniors collection. Even tho kids clothes still fit me, my legs are still on the thinner side and by butt and hips are growing larger Haha, so the kids leggings dont always fit me in the butt area, although kids shorts do 🤔. Anyway…. surprising CVS has some good ones too in pretty colors!! Ones as CVS washed well for me too👌
Thanks for your review Lina, love reading your posts 💛

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing! I agree about Kroger! I love the Dip brand and I pick up pieces there too. Ha!

  41. Amy Herriman

Wow thats all i buy is legging depot brand. I have never had a problem with them. Ive had them over a year. I love them they are my favorite

  42. Paige

I also bought these leggings a while ago and hated how tight they were; even though I had ordered the correct size for my body and had read many reviews about them. Such a waste of money and amazon won’t take them back!

  43. Jessica Zeffery

Legging Army! They are great for the price and are long enough for taller ladies like myself! Which is why I became an affiliate for their company. Plus they ship free to Alaska and no sales tax. If you live in Alaska, free shipping is a huge deal! Lol

  44. Michelle R

I totally agree with you on these Legging Depot leggings. I was not a fan. Thank goodness for Prime free shipping and returns. After trying (and returning) several different brands, I finally came across one that I love. And I’ve bought five other pairs each time they go on lighting deal, which is often. The brand is called VIV Collection. They have all sorts of colors and patterns, but my favorite are the black. Soft and buttery, and have the wide yoga waistband, which I love. They come in two sizes. One Size, which is 0-12, and Plus, which is 14-24. I wear a 12-14, so I fit in both, but I find the plus more comfortable of course. They remind me of LuLaRoe a teeny bit, but I actually like these better. Even without the Lightning Deal, they’re still only $12.99.

  45. Ashley

I have only seen reviews for these from incredibly thin women. I’m a size 16 and know that NOTHING will fit me the way it fits a size 2 woman. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been so curious about these.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure and thanks Ashley for stopping by!

  46. Janelle

I have these purchased from a boutique (locally) and from amazon. Love the pair that was local but the ones from amazon were junk. I wonder if they were “fake”.
