Make Pumpkin French Toast with King’s Hawaiian Rolls!
Fluffy soft sweet rolls get dunked in a pumpkin spice custard and fried on a griddle for a cozy golden pumpkin French toast for breakfast!

Give your favorite French toast a delicious fall makeover! 🎃🍂
Instead of using ordinary bread, consider upgrading to thicker, fluffy Hawaiian rolls! It changes the texture and makes it ten times delclious. I am not even a huge French toast lover, but I thought this was over-the-top delicious!
The result is warm, fluffy, slightly sweet French toast with all those cozy pumpkin spice flavors we love this time of year. And because we’re using King’s Hawaiian rolls instead of traditional bread, every bite is extra soft and buttery-tasting!
This is such a fun breakfast idea for a crisp fall morning, weekend brunch, or even a special breakfast before school. Add some powdered sugar, maple syrup, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of extra pumpkin spice on top, and you’re ready to dig in!

Pumpkin French Toast with King’s Hawaiian Rolls
yield: 4 SERVINGS
prep time: 10 MINUTES
cook time: 15 MINUTES
total time: 25 MINUTES
A fun fall twist on classic French toast made with soft King’s Hawaiian rolls, pumpkin puree, cream, eggs, vanilla, and cozy pumpkin spice.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 3/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground pumpkin spice
- 8 Hawaiian Rolls, cut in half
Directions
1
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, pumpkin puree, vanilla, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and well combined.
2
Cut the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half. You can leave them connected for a fun pull apart style or separate them into individual pieces.
3
Dip each roll into the pumpkin mixture, turning to coat both sides. Don’t let them sit too long or they can become overly soft. (No longer than 10 seconds.)
4
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter or cooking spray. Place the dipped rolls onto the pan and cook for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
Here are some extra tips for making pumpkin French toast:
- Other interesting alternatives to King’s Hawaiian rolls include sliced brioche, French bread, leftover dinner rolls, or croissants!
- Want bite-sized pieces? Cut the rolls into smaller pieces and make bite-sized pumpkin French toast for a fun brunch or breakfast board.
- Don’t have heavy cream? No worries! Swap the cream for whole milk or half and half if that’s what you have on hand. It may not taste as rich, but will work!
- Want a nutty topping? Top with chopped pecans or walnuts for a little crunch.
- Try adding a handful of mini chocolate chips to the egg mixture for a pumpkin chocolate chip version.

Have a little pumpkin puree leftover from another recipe? Don’t let it go to waste! Whip up this cozy Pumpkin French Toast and make your next fall breakfast a little more delicious. Grab your favorite toppings, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and dig in! 🎃🍂
