More April Fools

Gone are the days of overspending at stores like Target.

The Anti-Impulse Shopping Goggles

In a groundbreaking development for anyone who has ever walked into Target for toothpaste and walked out $147 poorer with a candle, three throw blankets, and a tiny ceramic pumpkin, scientists have unveiled the Anti-Impulse Shopping Goggles.

The revolutionary eyewear uses advanced behavioral economics, artificial intelligence, and what the inventors describe as “a little psychological warfare” to prevent shoppers from buying things they absolutely do not need.

Designed with the “Target Haul Effect” in mind

Researchers say the goggles were specifically designed for stores like Target, where customers enter with a plan and exit with a cart that looks like a lifestyle influencer lives inside it.

The real magic happens in Target’s notoriously dangerous “I’ll just browse” aisles:

  • Pick up a cozy throw pillow? Through the goggles, it now appears slightly damp and smells vaguely like regret.
  • Admire a trendy seasonal mug? Congratulations, it now looks like it was found in a gas station bathroom.
  • If the system detects that you’ve been staring at a non-essential item for more than three seconds, the goggles activate what engineers call The Cockroach Protocol. Suddenly, the item appears to be covered in small, highly motivated cockroaches.

These goggles are especially effective in the following areas:

  • Seasonal decor and knick-knacks
  • Throw pillows with words like “Gather”
  • Comfy cozy sweatpants when you already own 20
  • Anything labeled “limited edition fall collection” in July

Developers are already working on additional upgrades:

  • Amazon Mode – replaces the “Buy Now” button on every Amazon product page with a photo of your rent.
  • HomeGoods Reality Filter – shows where you will actually store the giant decorative lantern… and spoiler alert, you already don’t have room for it.
  • Pumpkin Spice Protection – prevents fall purchases before September, or even August for that matter.

Hurry to get your pair before these get too viral to stay in stock!

APRIL FOOLS! While our Hip2Save team could really use some help curbing our spending at Target, this is not a real product (though the glasses pictured do serve a handy purpose).
