This cycler contains a sturdy commercial-grade welded steel frame with a digital smart resistance ranging from 1 – 16. This is a very quiet and smooth choice, so you’re able to get a good workout in without being super loud (great for anyone who prefers to workout in the AM!). Keep an eye out at Costco as this bike does often go on sale, and that’s why my Hip teammate Melinda snagged it when it was $299!

Additionally, it comes with a free year of iFit (a $180 value!), which will bring your exercises to the next level. Since this cycler doesn’t come with a screen, iFit is compatible with your phone or tablet, and you’ll be able to unlock countless workouts that will get your blood pumping from officially certified trainers right in the comfort of your own home!

5. Sunny Health & Fitness Bike works perfectly with the Peloton app and is nearly silent.

Better yet, happy reviewers shared it also works seamlessly with the Peloton app so you can stream all your favorite spin classes and watch them from the built-in device holder on this exercise bike! Could it even get any better than this?!

Want to improve your riding? One reviewer shared that she purchased clipless pedals to make her rides even more seamless & enjoyable.

Commercial S22i Studio Cycle $1,499 (regularly $1,999)

This is definitely a pricey option, however, our Hip teammate Paige absolutely loves it and believes this is the ultimate bike! Her husband is actually a cyclist, and they both feel like this is the best long-term, reliable exercise bike on the market.

The S22i Studio Cycle includes a 30-day iFit Family membership ($39 value) as well in addition to tracking your progress and having all sorts of workouts to choose from, some even going beyond the bike! I love my Peleton, when I use it!!! But I am so over paying a monthly fee for something I paid so much for to start with. So until I get motivated I am just tossing money away…. Anyone want to buy a bike bahaha?

    • lydia999

I am obsessed with my Peloton. You can sell yours for about what you paid for it. The demand is really high for them!

    • sandy-4

I know someone who wants one if you are in ct or mass

  2. Tammie

Love my Peloton! So worth the added expense if you can fit it in the budget!

  3. ashleybg01111

Nice post with great Info but the Peloton is really an awesome bike and membership. It’s more cost effective than going to a gym and the classes are top notch. I’ll share my referral code if anyone wants it. You get $100 in accessories. I get $100 in apparel. Code: 7NMSFA I can answer questions if anyone is interested!

  4. Adam

All for the alternatives. Pelaton is part of the anti-consumer friendly group of companies that needs a reoccuring slice of your income or doesn’t want to you to repair the device. It’s being pushed into all aspects of our life (cell phones, automobiles, farm equipment), that in order to use them, you must pay a monthly fee to use or buy new when something goes wrong.

A few people got hurt, and Peloton had a reason/excuse to force the monthly subscription, just to activate your machine.

support Right to Repair. There is no way to get away from these companies (Apple, cough cough), but preventing you from repairing your device on your own terms should be a big no-no. Apple prevents other companies from selling the parts needed to repair your phone/ipad/laptop to anyone but them, allowing them to say something isn’t fixable because they don’t fix it, when in reality it is, but the part has to be salvaged because it cant be sold to a repair shop)

I have a Sunny bike and love it- I use the Peloton app and all the classes are great! Just pay $13.99 a month for unlimited classes! I lucked out and got my Sunny at Play it Again sports but it was brand new, so you may want to check resale or Marketplace!

    • Christine

      Hello,
How do you only pay $13.99 a month for the Peloton app?

    • Riepenhoff

Just download the app to your device- I think it’s 14.99 now!

  6. Sheila

For those who didn’t care for the peloton like myself…couldn’t get past the sitting down and exercising thing… consider the bow flex max trainer. We love it so much. Going on three years now and it gets use daily between the family and no membership fee

    • H Jewell

We have a bow flex and are OBSESSED with it also!! Good work out in 15 minutes!

    • Doug

I had (just hauled out to the curb a few weeks ago) a Bow Flex Max. I like it when I first got it and it worked to lose weight, but started making noises and falling apart within the first few years. By year 5, the wheel/magnet mechanism froze up and it sounded like a printing press when using it. It’s either pay big money to find a technician to fix it or try to fix it yourself. I tried myself and got a few more months out of it, but eventually went with the drag to the curb option as I hate to work out in the first place, but this made me not want to work out at all. I expected better quality out of a $1700 machine and thought it would last a long time. I’m 6’2″ – 220 lbs, but it should be able to handle that. I bought a $220 recumbent bike from Walmart to replace it, and not having any issues with it.

  7. Dani

I found a non-Peloton spin bike on Facebook Marketplace by patiently waiting for the right deal to pop up — my patience paid off as I spent $25 for a Schwinn Spin Bike!

  8. Ally

I love my Peloton. I think what people don’t realize is that Peloton offers more than just cycling classes. They have strength, yoga, bike bootcamp, barre, cardio, and all sorts of other classes you can take off your bike. I cycle 3-4 times a week, and do strength training 3-4 a week. It sure beats going to the gym! Their resale value is very high too. If you want $100 off your bike use my promo code BEFWZ6.

  9. Joy

I have a Schwinn IC4 and use the Peloton App for $14 a month! The app has a lot of different types of non-bike exercises too.

  10. David

I have a cycleOps (now Saris) trainer for my regular bike and just use that during the winter months. Attaches/detaches in about 30 seconds. Takes up little space and a cost effective approach. If you want to do a class, there are plenty available. I just get caught up on my dvr recordings.

    • Mama1020

      My husband loves his trainer!!

  11. Meg

I love my Echelon bike which is very similar to Pelaton with the option of live or on demand classes. I got mine at Sam’s for a discount + a free year of access to classes + free delivery and set up!

  12. Christina

We got a bike trainer that uses your road bike or mountain bike. It takes up a bit more space than our bike already was in the garage and it’s a much cheaper option as they only cost $60-100. We leave our bikes on the highest gear and it’s a good workout!

  13. Amy

Thanks! I’ve been eyeing the Proform cycle. I have a treadmill and iFit and loving it. iFit has some great trainers and workouts!

  14. Casi

I use the Myx bike and love it! 1/3 the price of Peleton and the trainers/workouts on the myx/Openfit app are great! It’s a less competitive than Peleton, more about your individual growth and progress.
