With New Year’s ringing at the door, we’re helping you find the best fitness apps to kick start your New Year’s resolutions! And while we’ve already shared apps that will actually pay you to work out, these apps I’m sharing today are FREE and allow you to be your own gym so you can work out anywhere… anytime, and reach all your goals this year.

Other features we’re loving:

  • It’s 100% free!
  • Professionally designed workouts
    • They’re all short and effective
  • Workouts can be done anywhere
  • No need for any equipment

  • Workouts for everyone including beginners
  • Ability to customize your workouts
  • Compatible with Apple Health to track your workouts and calories burned

“I sat around for weeks and told myself I was going to start going on daily walks outside/around my neighborhood. Every day I would have the same excuse – that I didn’t have enough time. Finally, I started downloading a bunch of different ‘workout from home’ apps hoping that would motivate me. I found that so many trick you into paying for a subscription to even access half of the workouts or they aren’t very easy to navigate. Most of the other workout apps are either 1) not free 2) too hard to do 3) don’t explain how to do them well enough 4) don’t focus on the areas you specifically want to improve or all of the above. 7minutes is by far the best workout app and so useful! It’s completely free, it targets what areas you want to work on, and lets you choose what fitness level experience you are. Within the first few days, my legs and abs were burning because the workouts were so effective! The app is so descriptive in what to do and easy to use. Best of all, it’s only seven minutes.” – Liz ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

3. Freeletics

Does anyone know if any of these apps have pregnancy safe workouts?

    • Jessica

Hasfit on YouTube. Pregnancy videos to follow!

  3. BethTamara

I love Sweat app. It’s expensive but so worth it. It’s by the maker of the BBG workout. Lots of plans to choose from too.

  4. Jen

Thanks for this list. I’m going to check out a couple of them. I *love* the free 7 Minute Workout app (when searching, include the word “free” to find the free version). Workouts are 7 minutes long. No equipment needed. Just tap on the exercise to see a video if you’re unsure how to do it. You can also create your own workout from their list of exercises!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re so welcome, Jen! Thanks for sharing your favorite with us!

  5. MCouzens

So happy to see the Nike Training app listed. It is awesome and I use it almost every day.

  6. MCouzens

I love the Nike Training app, been using it for years. But I’m going to try the 7 minute training app just to switch things up or use in combination with the Nike app.

I do like the way you have presented this problem plus it really does offer me some fodder for consideration. Nonetheless, through just what I have witnessed, I simply just hope when other comments pack on that men and women continue to be on point and not embark on a soap box of some other news of the day. Anyway, thank you for this excellent piece and though I do not necessarily agree with this in totality, I regard the point of view.
