They’ll be open 7 to 12 on Thanksgiving day?? that’s awful. Before I get hate comments, yes I know that some people don’t have plans or just don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but that is definitely ruining some people’s plans. Also, I know that they can just request that day off but some stores do limit how many people can request off a holiday. I’m sorry to be Debbie Downer. Love you Hip2Save team, thanks for all you do.

I completely agree with you. I remember years ago celebrating thanksgiving dinner with my family in the evening then once we’ve settled from dinner we had time to relax a little then get ready for our adventure of actual “Black Friday” midnight shopping. Now I think they are completely ruining the concept of Black Friday. Literally interrupting family time. 🙁 Now if there was something you wanted for Black Friday you better be out the door by 3pm on Thursday to rush and grab the things you needed. I honestly loved the memories with my mom being able to go shopping at midnight & it’s just not the same anymore. Family is important to us and thanks finch is a time that we all are thankful and celebrate and I would never let the “Black Thursday” lol ruin that for us. Now I literally focus more on cyber Monday.

I agree. It definitely defeats the purpose of Black FRIDAY, but every store is trying to beat each other to the punch so it’s just getting earlier and earlier.

Ive never worked at any store that didnt force you to work that day..in fact my store blocked november and december as months we cannot ask for days off

Greedier and greedier each year. Store management should learn to respect traditions; it will just pay off after all. Right now it just looks like greed feeds more greed.

I hear you, I do. I also agree, I want all workers to have the holiday back (as a nurse I know what it’s like to work most holidays). But I respectfully disagree about the greed level. I have family in retail & here’s what I know. All brick & mortar retail is in crisis, along with all of those precious jobs. At my mall, 2 of 4 anchor stores have closed; 15 other spaces are closed. Sears/Kmart announced recently the closure of nearly 100 more stores. Dillard’s, Macy’s, Penney’s -all in distress. It’s complicated & uber competitive – something retail employees are well aware of. Everyone is just trying to figure out how to keep the doors open in the age of Amazon. Peace to all! PS Big Lots Christmas decor is awesome this year…
