What is “Clear the List”? It’s a nationwide movement to support teachers by purchasing items for their school supply lists.

School will be back in session soon (some districts start in just a couple of weeks!) and teachers are already working hard to prepare their classrooms for the new 2024-2025 school year. This includes stocking up on school supplies for their students!

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pockets? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and many school districts and families are struggling. This leaves many teachers to pay for school supplies themselves.

Teachers always go the extra mile for their students, so let’s show them how much we appreciate them by giving back and helping to fulfill their supply lists!

You can help by donating items from teachers’ Amazon shopping lists!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list, and then share their lists publicly. Anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list, and after donating, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Even better, if you post your list on social media and tag Amazon with #clearthelist, you may find that your list is cleared BY Amazon! So cool!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu and name your list.
  • Hover over the three dots More menu on the right, and click Manage List to update your shipping address (this is important!) and other preferences like whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse for products on Amazon and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

If you’re a teacher, be sure to share your teacher list in the comments below so that readers can help clear the list! 🙌

My 10th year as a high school English teacher at Harmony School of Excellence, a Title 1 school in South Austin, begins this week! Some supplies need replenished, and my bulletin boards have seen better days. To help the learning environment, I’m putting air purifying plants in the room ❤️ Also, our school does not have showers in a locker room, hence deodorant wipes are highly valued! Everything helps. Can you help clear the list? #clearthelist #schoolsupplies

Hello. I was a para professional for almost 10 years and I went back to school to become a teacher. Best decision of my life. I love teaching second grade. This year will be my second year in second grade. I love pouring everything I have into my students and my classroom. At times, I almost pour a little too much and cut it a little close at home with activities for my own children. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for any child! I have created a wishlist to help lighten the load for my family without having to sacrifice the experience my students get. I would appreciate any help! I pray each of you have a wonderful year!

Dear generous souls and honorary classroom heroes,
I’m Mrs. Porter, your friendly neighborhood second-grade magician! No, I can’t pull rabbits out of hats, but I can make addition and subtraction feel like a piece of cake. When I’m not corralling unicorns and mastering the art of snack-time negotiations, I’m dreaming up ways to make math sparkle and reading soar. Check out my class’s Amazon wish list, where you can help us build a classroom that’s as vibrant as our imaginations! Every item you sponsor brings us one step closer to making learning an adventure the students will never forget!

    With boundless gratitude,
Mrs. Porter and her Posse of Fantastic Second Graders
