bh cosmetics products on a table

We all want high-quality makeup, but at a bargain price.

I’ve spent a bit of time perfecting my daily makeup routine and curating a makeup bag filled with the tried and true products that I rarely deviate away from. I decided to shake up my day-to-day makeup application by swapping out my go-to’s with bestselling BH Cosmetics beauty products.

My makeup brands range from inexpensive NYX to pricey Urban Decay, so I was interested to see how the BH Cosmetics products would perform in comparison. Here’s how they stacked up.

BH Primer vs The Ordinary

bh cosmetics primer vs the ordinary primer

How they compare: My current primer by the Ordinary did its job in smoothing out my face before my foundation, but I was beyond impressed with the BH Cosmetics primer. It has a slight foundation tint and blurs my skin before I even have to reach for my foundation. Plus, it glides on without making my skin feel greasy.

I’m keeping: BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Foundation Primer

BH Liquid Foundation vs Naked Skin

bh cosmetics foundation vs urban decay foundation

How they compare: I’ve been splurging on my Urban Decay foundation for some time now because it’s just that good. Well, not anymore! The BH Cosmetics foundation is ultra-creamy, blends like a dream (even with just my fingertips!), and is under $10 at full price. Its coverage is a touch better than Urban Decay’s – and without feeling heavy.

I’m keeping: BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Liquid Foundation

BH Studio Pro Concealer vs NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop

bh cosmetics concealer vs nyx concealer

How they compare: I have about 5 or 6 tubes of NYX concealer scattered between my room and various purses, I really love it that much. But again, BH Cosmetics truly wowed me with their insanely pigmented concealer. I don’t love the application quite as much as I liked the wand from NYX, but I get way more bang for my buck since no product is wasted being absorbed by an applicator.

Oh, and when they say total coverage, they really mean it! This concealer works wonders on my dark undereye circles.

I’m keeping: BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer

BH Liquid Eyeliner vs Maybelline Eye Studio

How they compare: I’m not really surprised by the outcome of this comparison—nothing can break the bond I have with my Maybelline eyeliner. Honestly, I would pay double for it because it’s really the best I’ve ever used.

The BH Cosmetics eyeliner works well, but the applicator tip is wider and shorter than Maybelline’s which doesn’t give me much control over the thickness of lines.

I’m keeping: Maybelline Eye Studio Liquid Eyeliner

BH Cosmetics Palette vs Sleek Eyeshadow Palette

bh cosmetics eyeshadow vs sleek eyeshadow

How they compare: This is very subjective given a) I don’t wear eyeshadow often and b) I keep my makeup in a small bag since I travel with it often. The BH Cosmetics shadows are wonderful, decently pigmented, and come with a wide variety of colors, but the size of my Sleek eyeshadow palette works much better for my lifestyle.

I’m keeping: Sleek MakeUP Eyeshadow Palette

bh cosmetics vs emily's cosmetics

Overall, BH Cosmetics really won me over in a big way by replacing what I thought was the best primer, foundation, and concealer out there—and also saved me roughly $35 in the process!

The BH Cosmetics website frequently hosts sales and promotions as well, so I’m getting ready to try more cosmetics. Let me know what you’re loving!

The foundation is $7.12 with free shipping if you’re a cardholder at Kohls. They also have a lot of BH eyeshadows half off.

    • Emily (Hip Sidekick)

What a great deal! Thank you for the heads up!

  4. Liz

I love makeup but this is my first time hearing of BH cosmetics. Im curious to try it out now:)!

    • Emily (Hip Sidekick)

I was a BH Cosmetics newbie too, Liz. Let me know what you end up thinking of the products if you purchase!

  5. Saiza

BH Cosmetics has awesome eyeshadow palettes and brush sets very affordably priced! But on their website they do sales all the time, and you can stack with coupon codes and a spend x amount get a free gift. Last time I bought an eye shadow palette I wanted that was 60% off that day, found a coupon code, also got a brush set for 50% off and I spent over $40 and got a free eye shadow palette.

    • Emily (Hip Sidekick)

Whoaโ€”that’s promotions galore! I totally agree, the BH Cosmetics website always has tons of sales, which is awesome since the items are already pretty affordable to start!

  6. OregonLexy

I do highly recommend eye-studio-master-precise-liquid-eyeliner – wish Maybelline provided frequent coupons they RARELY Ever have any

  7. patricia

What is everybody’s idea on makeup made in China? I can’t get myself to buy them ๐Ÿ™

    • sona

They give me pause as well. Not sure of their regulations, plus their human rights violations are heart breaking/terrifying. Asian skincare/makeup from Japan/South Korean might be good to learn about.

  8. Catie

Is this only sold online? Or do any stores carry these products?

    • Cassandra (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Catie! You can find BH Cosmetics products at ULTA if you prefer to shop in-store. Hope that helps!

      • Catie

        Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Saiza

Kohlโ€™s usually has them too. Iโ€™ve gotten a few items at Kohlโ€™s 50% off after the holidays.

  9. Jackie

Love BH cosmetics! Their eye shadows are SO PIGMENTED and they have really fun themes. They always have awesome sales too, I never pay full price. They do take some time to ship though, so just be aware.

  10. Diana

That maybelline eyeliner is the one that i got in my target beauty box! I love it! So it totally made the price of the box worth it!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
Im still to cheap to pay full price for it- i will work a deal @ cvs and use extra bucks ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Emily (Hip Sidekick)

I think I originally tried it from a Target Beauty Box too. I’m so happy I gave it a whirl because I’m obsessed ๐Ÿ˜„

Forgot to mention, this is for the Maybelline Eyestudio Master Precise All Day Liquid Eyeliner Makeup, Black, 0.034 fl. oz.

  12. Sasha

This makeup doesn’t have very great ingredients. Sadly, I won’t be buying it because of the propylene glycol. Spring for a better product f your biggest organ.

  13. Hannana

I have been stalking BH online for a couple of weeks now because their price points are AMAZING. Thanks for the reviewโ€” going to go ahead and checkout with the cart Iโ€™ve been steadily filling up ๐Ÿ˜‚
