My Son’s Five Star Binder Was Replaced for FREE!

Ever buy a new item and have it break almost immediately? It’s so frustrating!

I have a son who started junior high last year, and the one item he wanted to buy for back-to-school was a huge binder with the handle because he said that everybody in Junior High used a binder like this. So I took him to Target and we found a binder for around $20.

As you can see from these pictures below, it only lasted a few months and it slowly started falling apart. So when he brought it home one day and said it was no longer functional, I was super frustrated since it had been such an expensive investment and it only lasted a short period of time.

I begrudgingly went to Amazon and ordered another one and when it arrived, I noticed that it had a tag that stated: “Lasts All Year – Guaranteed!”

So being the Hip2Saver I am, I immediately started searching online and came across the Five Star product warranty. It basically said that ACCO brands (the manufacturer) will replace any Five Star binder that is returned within one year from the date of purchase.

It was super easy for me to submit for this guarantee—I simply emailed warranty@acco.com with pictures of the damage and an online receipt that I had from Target. Within a week or so, I received a brand new Five Star binder in the mail (the new one is the blue one in these pictures).

I am SO happy with how simple the whole process was and the end result of having the broken binder replaced, with minimal effort no less!
