With our advice, you might be able to shave off big bucks from your next big purchase. Plus, we’ll tell you the cheapest place to buy tires. Try these tricks and both your car and your wallet will thank you!
How to get the best tire prices:
1. Buy at the right time! Get a tire discount on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and during certain months.
There are a few times during the year when you can find the best prices on tires. If you can wait to shop until these times, you have a better chance of finding a tire discount or rebate offer. You’ll find great deals that will save you hundreds come Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Another smart time to buy tires is in October right before the holiday season and during the December holiday sales. Also, check for tire deals in April which is National Car Care Month.
2. Use coupons and rebates whenever available.
If your retailer isn’t offering a discount, that doesn’t mean you can’t score a deal! You can find manufacturer coupons and rebates online. An easy way to find out who is offering a rebate is to check the website Tire-Rebates.com. At the time of this article, Goodyear, Michelin, and Bridgestone are all currently offering rebates.
My husband replaced his tires and I can verify that the Goodyear rebate shown on Tire-Rebates.com is valid (and Goodyear has even increased the value to $200). This website is regularly updated so when you’re ready to buy new tires, check it out. You can also find these rebates listed on the manufacturer’s websites along with any other discount offers.
Another place to look for tire discounts is Coupons.com. You’d be surprised just how much you can save when you use these deals!

3. Discount Tire is often the cheapest place to buy tires.
Discount Tire is one of the cheapest places to buy tires and they will even price match (including sales prices)! Each tire listing has a button that says, “Found it lower?” If you see a better price, click that button to request your price match!
Each listing alerts you if there are savings available, and the hottest deals can be found right on the front page of the website so you won’t miss them!

4. For other cheap tire deals, check out TireRack.com.
Tire Rack is another great place that has some of the best tire prices. This website was even ranked #2 by Car Talk as a favorite place to score deals. They offer FREE 2-year Road Hazard Protection with roadside assistance included! They also give you free shipping for any orders above $50.

5. Buy from Costco’s Tire Center when they have a manufacturer’s savings deal.
You can always count on Costco for a good deal! Their tire center often has manufacturer deals and sometimes these offers beat out the discounts found on other sites. There was one recently in September that would have scored you $150 off a set of new tires! CNET recommends Costco for its wide selection of reputable tire brands.
6. The Road Hazard warranty is included when you buy from Sam’s Club, Costco, or Tire Rack.
Get the most out of your tire purchase! Not all offers are the same. When you buy from Sam’s Club, Costco, or Tire Rack, your 2-year Road Hazard warranty is included. If you are in need of this coverage, purchasing a warranty separately will cost you either a flat fee per tire or a percentage per tire. Getting one included with your tires can, on average, save you anywhere from $40 to $200!
These types of warranties can cover damage to the tire that is not due to driver negligence. If you run over a nail or a piece of glass, a Road Hazard Warranty can come in handy. You may already have this coverage under your AAA plan or auto insurance. If so, you don’t need to purchase it twice.
7. Shop around for the best tire prices and compare each deal closely.
What is included in the cost of your tire? Are you only getting a tire or are you getting extras like a Road Hazard Warranty, free shipping, new valve stems, old tire disposal, or lifetime services like tire rotation and balancing?
Also, don’t pay for anything you don’t need. Some tire prices are inflated with extra freebies that aren’t actually benefitting you. Consider what each tire deal includes and choose the best deal for you.
8. For cheap tire installation, use the Walmart Tire Center.
Walmart offers some of the lowest installation fees around and they will even provide some lifetime services like tire rotation! It’s a good choice for the cheapest place to buy tires. Just check out this recent cost comparison!

9. If you’re a mechanic, do your tire installation yourself.
If you or a family member is a professional mechanic and has the proper equipment, skip paying for an installation and do it yourself. If you aren’t a professional mechanic, look for deals that include the installation or offer it for cheap.
10. Are you a Sam’s Club member? Take advantage of their free flat tire service.
Yep, you read that right! Sam’s Club Members get FREE repairs on flat tires! You might be able to patch up that hole instead of buying a whole new tire. Sam’s is often ranked on lists of the cheapest place to buy tires.
11. Have a flat tire? Check the tread on the rest and replace only the tires you need.
If you pop a tire and it can’t be fixed, you’ll have to spring for a new one. That doesn’t mean you need four new tires! If the rest of your tires aren’t too old and are still in good condition, only replace the one that is flat. Consumer Reports suggests that if tires have less than 30% wear, just replace the one that is busted.
12. Or, buy a tire bundle if the price makes sense.
When you are ready to buy all-new tires, look for bundle deals. It’s an easy way to score the best tire prices. Manufacturers and retailers often have discounts when you buy 4 tires at once. Look for tire deals like Buy 3 Get 1 Free. Just make sure to do the math before purchasing to verify that you’re truly getting a good deal.
13. Pick out both the right size tire and the right kind of tire for your vehicle.
Don’t waste money by buying the wrong tires. Check the inside of your driver’s side door. There is a sticker that indicates which tire sizes fit your vehicle. When searching for tires online, tire retailers will ask for your tire size and provide you with suitable options. If given a choice between several, go with the cheapest tires available.
There are also many types of tires on the market – all-terrain, all-season, ultra-performance, and winter to name a few. If you don’t live in a climate that requires special winter tires, choose the all-season instead.
14. It never hurts to haggle.
Some tire salesmen are willing to negotiate. It never hurts to ask! After all, the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
15. Before buying tires, check for recalls.
Before spending money on any new tires, check to see if your existing tires were ever subject to a recall. If so, the manufacturer must fix the issue at no charge to you. This means you might get a set of tires free!
16. Make your current tires last with regular tire maintenance.
Your tires will last a whole lot longer if you take care of them properly. Invest in an air pressure gauge and keep your tires at the level recommended by the manufacturer. To avoid uneven wear, you’ll also want to make sure to get your tires rotated timely. The manufacturer will recommend the time frame to do this, but typically you need to rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.
Hip Tip: Unsure if you need new tires? Word on the street is that you can use this coin trick to find out! Hold a penny with Abraham Lincoln’s head facing you. Insert it into the tire treads (you’ll feel it hit the rubber under the grooves). If Lincoln’s head is still visible to you, it’s time for new tires.

Discount Tire is really good, especially if you buy their warranty. Theu usually have (for example) 5 year or 80,000mile (numbers are not exact!) & if say your tires are super worn or have nails, etc they will replace and all you need to pay is a $25 fee or so. I havent paid for new tires in 8 years + 😁

My dad needed new Michelin tires and got a price from Discount Tire. I went to Costco to compare — it was over $800 cheaper for the set! Discount Tire matched it rather than lose the sale–and they knew exactly what the Costco price was, even the with that month’s promotion. Costco rotates their specials between Bridgestone and Michelin, so if the kind you want isn’t on special, wait a month or two. Sometimes they offer penny installation specials plus big discounts in the monthly coupon book. The promotions are historically the best Feb-April and Oct-Dec. They can special order anything in those two lines that they don’t stock. And if you’re an executive member you get 2% back, and with the Costco Citi card, and other 2% — that’s a lot on a set of tires!

I always buy tires during Sam’s Club Black Friday sale where the installation is free and they offer like $20 off each tire. It’s always going to be a big purchase but safety comes first!

I got a new set of Goodyear tires for my SUV last May from Sam’s for under $900 with an $80 discount then paid $80 for install, flat repair – they will also rotate & balance them for the life of the tire as well as emergency roadside for 3 years. Took less than 45 min on a weekday. This was 600 less than the Firestone shop.

I bought my tires at BJs and have had to go in several times for removal of nails (or whatever causes a leak when i park on city streets), which they do for free, often without an appointment if they aren’t too busy. Prices were comparable to other places at the time.

Another tip. If you live in a big city there should be many used tire shops in the business or industrial areas. So if your car is worth $1500 and you don’t want to pay $ 1200 for tires give them a try. I got a set for 200 and it should least 2-4 years
