Craving some delicious cheesecake?

Whether you’re heading out for a shopping spree at the mall or plan to dine at The Cheesecake Factory restaurant for your next night out, here are 14 clever tips to save you time and money – and no coupons are needed!

1. Order water instead of a $2.50 soda.

It’s no secret that ordering water is a good tip for saving cash at any restaurant and if your entire family of 5 skips the extra drinks, you can save about $12.50 off your entire bill!

2. Get the complimentary toddler plate.

One thing I loved about dining at The Cheesecake Factory when my kids were little was the complimentary toddler plate! It’s not only free, but it will likely fill them up enough, and then if you don’t mind sharing a few bites of your food, you save on an extra meal.

For our youngest guests (those in a booster or highchair) we offer a complimentary “Baby Plate” with slices of banana and fresh bread to keep them busy and happy.

Hip Tip: Speaking of complimentary, who need expensive appetizers when they offer delicious, warm bread? Make sure to take advantage of the bread and butter whenever you dine in.

3. Drink up during Happy Hour and save on appetizers.

Most Cheesecake Factory locations have a Happy Hour from 4 pm – 6 pm, Mondays through Fridays in the Bar. You can score deals like $3.50 beers or $6.50 handmade cocktails. Plus, you can enjoy their appetizers for $6.50. This may not be your biggest savings, but it’s a great way to save on your favorite drinks and beat the dinner rush.

4. Save on time and do curbside pick-up.

Ordering curbside pickup won’t save you any money, but it sure will save you time! Normally the wait at any Cheesecake Factory during lunch or dinner is pretty extensive, so order online, pick it up, and take it home to enjoy without the wait.

Hip Tip: Do you live close to a Cheesecake Factory? Make sure to check out so you don’t even have to leave your house or office. Often times, they’ll add free delivery services during specific times and even special discount codes!

5. Order from their skinny menu for $8 meals.

And if you’re worried about being hungry, don’t worry, there’s plenty of complimentary bread to go around!

#2 is brilliant, wish I knew that when I had a toddler!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I know! I was thinking the same thing!

    • R2

Ugh, right?! When my kids were that little, I used to always order something with noodles/pasta so the little one could eat off my plate. All of my kiddos would have been very content with bananas and bread.

  2. B

We go during happy hour and sit in the bar with our family. Their appetizer sliders are a meal and fill us! The chicken slides must be more meat than a chicken sandwich off their regular menu. Our tween loves ordering off the “adult” happy hour food menu and my younger two split a kids meal.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Awesome! Thanks for the helpful feedback, B! Good to know you have enjoyed their Happy Hour and appetizer items!

    • Pjane

Same for us and we pay with discounted gift cards from Rite Aid we purchased over the holidays or with the gift card we purchased during November where we get two free slices of cheesecake. Last year we had more than 12 free slices of cheesecake. I actually think it was more than 12. (we are all filled up on cheesecake factory)

Don’t forget to order the fries with a happy hour sliders for an extra buck. Good filler item.

  3. Reena

Great tips. Didn’t know about few of them.

  4. Denise

    Great article thank you

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re very welcome, Denise! Thanks for the sweet feedback!

  5. Kristie

I love when they have the free slice of cheesecake with every $25 gift card. I especially love it the few days that they do 2 free slices with every $25! I buy my mom $50 then give her two free slices and keep two for us!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How sweet! We love those offers too! Thanks for sharing with us, Kristie!

No judgement here for those who do but I thought you “weren’t supposed to” split meals at nicer restaurants. Is this an acceptable practice? What do you say to the server exactly to get an extra plate and do you receive an add-on charge for splitting? I need to know and I’m sure many others do too. Experiences anyone?

    • Lori

I had rarely split a meal before I had surgery this summer and can no longer eat what I used to. I just tell the server my hubby and I are going to split a meal and I’ve never had anyone say we couldn’t or charge us any extra. Granted the Cheesecake Factory is about the fanciest restaurant that we would go to, but if someone said we could not split, I would order a tiny appetizer and probably not go back. 😊

      • AdifferentLynn

Thanks for your reply! Good luck on your journey after surgery. Hope you are well.

    • Diane

My husband and I split meals at a wide variety of restaurants. Most servers know o bring an extra plate. If they forget or the kitchen delivers the meal we just ask for an extra plate. Most restaurants that have a charge for splitting a meal state it on their menu. In my experience those restaurants are usually ones with family style sides

    • Jeanette

My kids are always splitting an adult meal at the CF. They just always bring an extra plate for them to use. CF knows their meals are huge and don’t seem to ever mind people splitting their meals. Heck, my husband and kids will just order the chicken nachos for dinner and all eat that as their meal and I order myself a small plate. It’s a great way to save money there too.

    • Brittany

Splitting meals is normal and often expected at places like cheesecake factory where they give you enough food to feed a small army. When I worked as a server there yearssssss ago, there was a button in the computer you would press when a table wanted to split a meal. There’s no fee for that, and they will actually divide the meal on two plates in the kitchen for you. At really nice restaurants the portions tend to be a lot smaller, so it wouldn’t make sense to split.

      • MommySpendsLess

I would caution that sometimes at other restaurants there is a small fee for splitting plates. At a seafood restaurant where I briefly worked as a server if we put “split plate” into the computer the kitchen would split the entree and serve both plates with the side dishes. I don’t know if it was truly double the amount of sides but it was definitely more than a single portion. There was no fee for an “extra plate” if the customer wanted the standard portions and divided up the food at the table.

Two questions for servers. I’ve been watching my calorie count so I’d prefer to order lunch portions at dinner. If it’s truly exactly the same dish, just a smaller server could I request the lunch size during dinner hours? Specifically I’m thinking of Macaroni Grill where I had a delicious lunch today but the dinner size is over 1,000 calories. The lunch serving is $9, the dinner one $15. The chances that I’ll take half of it home and want to eat the leftovers is slim.
Secondly, if people split a meal do you expect them to tip as if they both ordered a dish?

    • Rama

I think it’s American culture not to split a meal (no disrespect, just an observation). Most other cultures order and eat family style; even if you do order 1 entree per person. What better way than this to eat a variety of foods at a meal.
Been in the country more than 2 decades and have split entrees at fancy high-end restaurants or just ordered appetizers without anyone batting an eye! Just two restaurants had rules about split dishes incurring extra costs.

  7. Shelley

We love the brown oat bread too!! We always get a loaf to take home – its’s huge and only $3!

    • Jodi Higgins

Love cheescake factory -Using a referral is the best way to save! ☺

    • Lizag

Jodi, I didn’t know you could pickup from DoorDash! I clicked on your referral and now I’ll save $ on my order. Thank you for the info!!

  8. Linda

I don’t see how using Door Dash is a savings. ?? Don’t you have to pay a delivery fee? And then you tip the driver.

    • Jodi Higgins

If you opt for picking up instead of delivery you can save $ A LOT with door dash,,, also door dash posts a bunch of deals for cheescake factory, Just last week I saved $15 off my meal -a savings of 50% ☺
