Get the kids out of the house and into the bowling alley this summer! 🎳

If you’re looking to get your kiddos off their devices and out for fun this summer, look no further because we have a great option for you – and it’s free!

The annual Kids Bowl Free Program offers kids (whose age does not exceed the limit made by the participating bowling center) the opportunity to bowl absolutely free throughout the entire summer – that’s a $500+ value per child!

This program is offered at over 1,500 bowling centers in all 50 states in the US and Canada, so there is a good chance you’ll have this program at a bowling alley near you!

Each kiddo will snag coupons for two free games of bowling daily throughout the entire summer. To register your kids, head over here and select a bowling center near you.

Note that when you click on a bowling alley location, you will either see a registration form or a place for you to submit your email to be notified when registration is open at that particular center. Not all locations are available to register at this time.

But wait, there’s more!

This program also offers a great deal for parents and older siblings. The optional Family Pass allows up to four adults to bowl two free games right alongside the kids all summer long. The Family Pass is just $29.95 (one-time payment) and is valid for the entire length of the Kids Bowl Free program at your local bowling center. *Hours can vary by location.

Even sweeter, you can use promo code WELCOME10 to get $3 off a Family Pass. Note that the starting price of the Family Pass may vary by region.

Family Pass Deal Idea:

Buy Family Pass $29.95
Use promo code WELCOME10 (10% Off)
Final cost $26.95!

After you sign your child up to bowl for free, you will be directed to a page offering the Family Pass for $29.95 – you do not need to purchase this for your child to bowl free as he or she has already been signed up (look at the very top of the page where it says congratulations). This is purely an option to get the rest of your family signed up to bowl along with your child.

I’m guessing this doesn’t include shoes?

    • Teah

last summer our bowling ally had free shoes and instructors and discounted food Thursdays 4-6pm If you were apart of the free bowling program, depending on lane availability. We never took advantage because it was easier to get lanes in the middle of the day and pay the $2 shoe rental. I would check and see if your local bowling ally has an promo as well.

  2. mnemosyne786

Awesome, thanks! It does NOT include shoes and bowling shoes ARE required. Our family price was $39.99 for 4 adults and up to 6 kids could be registered.

    • mnemosyne786

Hours are also great at our location. All day M-R, open-5pm F, open-2pm Sa, 5pm-close Su. We definitely favor weekdays anyway so this is perfect. I was able to add our oldest (17) and Grandma to the Family Pass so they can take the kids too. Only kids 2-15 bowl free at our location but it breaks down to only $9 per adult all summer so can’t argue with that!

  3. Vikky

Our closest location is 35minutes drive time with no traffic. Somehow less and less clubs paticipate each year.

  4. mnemosyne786

Please find us some great deals on bowling shoes to go with this!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it along to the team!

    • V

I bought bowling shoes last summer for around $25 at bowling.com. We live within a mile of our bowling alley, so we bowled a bunch last summer.

      • S

how did the shoes fit? I hate to spend $4 extra per pair to be able to exchange the size.

  5. Becca

Make sure to read the fine print of your specific bowling alley. We have signed up every year since inception, and paid for the family pass. Last year I didn’t realize they weren’t offering the program on weekends. My fault for not reading the fine print of the hours offered. We were never able to use the family pass.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful warning, Becca. Good to know!

  6. Sue

The 1 bowling alley that used to have this closed last year. The other 1 in my town doesn’t work with this program. The next closest for me is 30 minutes away.

What’s the minimum age for bowlers?

    • halambe

      It said 2

  8. Tia in FL

The bowling shoe requirement seems like such a money grab when the summer camp kids (which my daughter is one of) are in there all summer with regular shoes!

  9. Valerie0408

We do the roller skating one. Pay $4.00 for the annual admin fee and they get to go 2 times a week. It’s up to the skating rink to set the days and times.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How fun! Thanks for sharing! My kids LOVE to go skating!

Wish we could do this with our special needs daughter who is 21 (she would love it) but no younger kids in our family.

    • N

You could get the family pass it’s still a great deal, or maybe even contact them and ask about what she is needing and maybe they can make an exception for her?

      • Dale in SA

According to what I read, you cant get a Family Pass unless you have younger ones in your household who sign up.

Some places offer a bowling shoe pass for $30 for the family which usually shows on the right size of the page when looking at the hours. We just bought good bowling shoes for my husband and I and cheap bowling shoes for the kids online. Now that they are teens their shoe sizes don’t move up so we have used the same shoes more than one season now. So worth it if you go 4-5 times a month. If the other adults have shoes and are added it really makes it affordable. We bought shoes from dicksportinggood online with a coupon. Other places online offer kid shoes for under $20 and really it would not be hard to resell them or pass them down to younger kids/family members.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful tips, Di!

  12. Laura

I’ve signed my kids up for this every year for 5 or 6 years now, but looks like I won’t be able to anymore. neither of the two bowling alleys in my city are on the list anymore 😔 boo.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! SO sorry to hear that, Laura.

  13. SavingsMama

Def make sure your alley has hours available for this plan to accommodate your schedule. Also, due to only 1 brand and location participating, we’d have to sit there for 45 mins waiting on a lane sometimes. You don’t get priority with these passes for sure. I’ll stay posted, but am hoping there is a better offer than $3 off. Many military families should also take advantage of lane specials…we have a $1/game deal at ours once a week, plus shoe rental is only $2.50 vs $4.50 at the lanes that participate in Kids Bowl Free.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your experience with us!

  14. Art

This is not free. As soon as I gave them all my information a page popped up saying I need to pay 29.95. What a scam! Why even post this?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

It is free for the kids. That is for an optional family pass. You do not need to purchase this for your child to bowl free as he or she has already been signed up (look at the very top of the page where it says congratulations). This is purely an option to get the rest of your family signed up to bowl along with your child.

  15. Susan Kuhn

I think it is up to the individual bowling alley to provide shoes or not or some discount price of shoes. Also, yes take note that the times are not on weekends (for weekend parents / working parents).

  16. Mary H

Article said all 50 states, but there are NONE listed for Hawaii. 🙁

  17. Loda Lasoon

yay! more places to go get coronavirus from
