family with rv

November is the perfect time to start planning your winter adventure. You have over 60 national parks and more than 150 national forests to add to your destination inspiration! No matter where you live, chances are you’re close enough to easily take advantage of those RV camping opportunities.

Last year, my family and I had the most amazing time exploring Utah and Zion National Park.

zion national park entrance

We found great owners on RVshare who were willing to deliver an awesome RV to the Zion Canyon RV Park which made things so much easier when planning our Zion National Park adventure in Utah. They set it up and took the time to show us everything we needed to know inside. It had a kitchen with a stove, oven, dishes, pots, pans, and everything else needed to cook.

And that’s another great thing about RVshare–they’ll actually deliver your RV rental to you!

family in zion national park

This makes renting an RV sooooo much easier, especially if you’ve never done it before. Instead of having to hunt down an available RV close to where you want to camp, you can coordinate with the owner to have them deliver it to a location that’s right for you (or meet them halfway if that’s easier for everyone). Just filter by “Offers Delivery” to find owners who will drive the RV to you!

It’s such a great perk to have the owner show you everything you need for a successful trip, whether it’s glamping with the girls or having more upscale camping accommodations for hard-to-please teens. 😉 Plus, having the delivery option makes RVshare just as easy (if not easier) than sticking with hotels because it’s exactly right where you want to be!

woman coming out of an RV

With fuel costs at an all-time high, it’s such a relief that I don’t have to fill up the RV’s tank or even attach it to my car. I just drive to the camping site, stay in the RV for the duration of my trip, and drive home. Now, that’s convenience!

Note that there’s no set RVshare delivery price. It will vary per owner of the RV, but rest assured there are no hidden fees for delivery. The price you see listed on RVshare.com is the actual price!

RV kitchen

After seeing our RV, I was so impressed at how everything was so clean inside including a larger-than-expected bathroom, which is always so convenient to have for a family stay. Staying somewhere with nice bedding, plush towels, and a fully-stocked kitchen is the BEST.

kitchen area in RV

Renting an RV was the easiest camping I have ever experienced because we had electricity, comfy beds, and hot showers in a nice bathroom. Best of all, after three nights, we walked away and let them do the deep cleaning afterward – so awesome!

Zion National Park is so incredibly beautiful, and those Red Rock canyon views were AMAZING. 😍 I think visiting Zion should be on everyone’s bucket list since it’s such a gorgeous environment. Late fall and winter are perfect times to camp out for a few days in the RV. If you like to hike, the Canyon Overlook trail is stunning this time of year!

However, if you aren’t close to Zion, I’d recommend checking out some of the other popular National Parks to get some inspiration.

Even better, remember to keep an eye on RVshare’s blog!

From what to know about upcoming holiday travel to how to travel by RV in the winter, RVshare has a blog with tons of useful tips. These posts will help maximize your vacation budget while providing some helpful information! 🙌  No matter where your RV travels take you, they even have insight on travel impacts and how rising gas prices won’t severely impact your trip.

RV SHare - Grand Canyon in winter

Check out some of these popular November & December RV destinations:

  • Yosemite National Park: Does this one need an introduction? 😆 Not only can you experience thousands of square miles of beautiful wilderness, but Yosemite also hosts popular sporting events, galleries, conservancies, and more. Come late fall and early winter, the park is less crowded. You’ll still be able to visit Lower Yosemite Falls, the bottommost part of America’s largest waterfall.
  • Joshua Tree National Park: Fans of this national park know that summertime can see scorching hot temperatures. Luckily, come late fall and early winter the weather is often a pleasant 60 or 70 degrees. It’s the perfect time to visit the park. With the mild temperatures, your family can enjoy hiking, camping, or horseback riding much more comfortably.
  • Grand Canyon National Park: Avoid the big crowds when you visit the Grand Canyon in the late fall or winter instead. You’ll be able to view the park much more comfortably given the cooler temperatures. In the fall, you’ll catch some breathtaking views of the trees changing color. In winter, try hiking the South Rim or Bright Angel trails. Both are open and offer beautiful views of the canyon.
  • Rocky Mountain National Park: This infamous park offers 415 square miles of stunning mountain landscapes. From glistening alpine lakes to towering mountain peaks, there is much to see and do! In the early winter, there are plentiful opportunities for hiking or snowshoeing. Try the Emerald Lake trail or head to Chasm Falls to visit the waterfall. Both hikes are just about 3 miles and offer opportunities to see wild animals.
  • Dry Tortugas National Park: Escape the cold with a trip to Key West, FL! Here you can take a boat or seaplane to visit Dry Tortugas National Park. This unique park is comprised of 7 different islands and even includes a historic fortress and lighthouse to visit. When you’re done seeing the park, you can explore Key West in your RV rental!
  • Saguaro National Park: If you’re heading to Arizona, November and December are wonderful times to stop at Saguaro National Park. It’s home to some of the most breathtaking cacti the United States has to offer. You’ll only find the infamous Saguaro cacti in Pima County, AZ so the park is worth a stop. Plus, if you visit in late fall and early winter, you’ll avoid the blazing temperatures of the Arizona summer.
  • Guadalupe Mountains National Park: If you plan to travel later in the fall season, consider Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The park is home to Guadalupe Peak, also known as Signal Peak, the highest point in all of Texas. If it’s changing leaves you’re after, you’ll catch fall colors as late as mid-November here. Take the McKittrick Canyon Trail to see the big-tooth maples changing color. It’s a stunning view you won’t want to miss! If you plan to visit in winter, that’s okay too! This park is open year-round.

As a fellow National Park lover, I highly recommend checking out one (or a few 😁) of these sites during your RVshare camping trip and booking your reservations ASAP (more on that later).

If you’re not interested in visiting a National Park this year, another great destination for winter is Disney World! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Park is a huge RV resort located within the park. You’ll enjoy mild temperatures and fewer crowds. It’s great for glamping, so if that’s your style, consider taking a trip to visit Mickey this Thanksgiving or Christmas.

rvshare website on computer

Wanna get started? Check out which RVs are available for rent near you.

You can browse the nearby vehicles on RVshare, and even filter by whether or not they accept pets (around 30% of them do).

Here’s how to find a great RV on RVshare:

  • Find the perfect RV for your trip by using RVshare’s detailed search settings to filter by location, features, RV type, etc. to find exactly what you’re looking for! If you want to get one delivered like me, just remember to filter by “Offers Delivery”.
  • Talk directly with the RV owner to arrange your trip. When they deliver the RV, they’ll also show you how all the systems work so you’ll feel right at home.
  • Check the fine print of your rental since you may have to empty water tanks or fill gas tanks before it’s picked up.
  • Take advantage of your hassle-free trip and let the owner take away the RV when it’s time to head home!

Note: You’ll notice that RVshare rental prices will vary a great deal by location and vehicle. There is usually a cleaning fee involved and a deposit. You’ll definitely want to factor all that in for your vacation budget.

Planning the destination is fun, but if you’re looking for a late fall or winter getaway, it’s best to make reservations NOW.

So here’s the thing about RV rentals… the actual RVshare process is the easy part, and you can even do that last minute via RVshare’s Instant Booking feature. In my experience, there was no problem finding available rigs that fit our needs. So it’s the perfect option for the upcoming season.

The hard part is finding the campsites.

RVShare - Zion National Park In Winter

If you’re looking for primitive camping places, you’ll have better luck doing things last minute. But you’ll probably want to use the RV’s electric and water hookups and it’s not uncommon for those sites to be booked months or even years in advance. 😬 Especially for those popular sites I mentioned earlier!

If you’re planning to travel to one of the more accommodative camping sites, I highly encourage you to start getting the site reservations squared away now.

That being said, I did encounter a slight hang-up while trying to book our Zion National Park trip.

Coleman RV in Zion National Park

It was nothing major, but it’s worth noting that you often can’t reserve your campsite before reserving your RV as they’ll need to know the vehicle dimensions before approving the reservation.

To get around that and avoid any surprises, I looked for locations with available campsites first. Then I called them directly to ask about their cancellation policies and see if they had any tips for picking a space. Once I found one I liked, I booked the RV and then quickly booked the campsite so I could enter the dimensions and get everything taken care of ahead of time.

Moral of the story: try to book early, and be cautious with last-minute planning!

Even though you can book on RVshare pretty easily at the last second, I’d recommend saving yourself a LOT of trouble by reserving both the RV and campsite early. There’s no better time than the present!

Looking to rent out your RV instead? RVshare makes it so easy!

With the RVshare platform, owners can easily list their RVs for renters to find – and it gives RV owners the opportunity to earn a little money while they’re not using their RV.

Here’s how listing an RV on RVshare works:

  • List your RV on their site by adding photos and a detailed description. Manage exactly what potential renters see when they search.
  • Review reservation requests and work directly with renters to agree on terms. You’re in complete control.
  • Meet the renter, give them a quick demo, and send them on their way!
  • Reap the benefits of listing on the largest rental network in the world. The renter will return your RV at the end of their trip.

There are several reasons owners don’t rent out their RVs, but here are some reasons to reconsider!

Still have concerns about using RVshare?

You’ll be happy to know they have a Worry-Free Rental Agreement featuring payment protection, rental & rebooking assistance, 24/7 customer support, security deposit protection, and more. Check out the full Rental Agreement to see all the perks & rules.

Even better, here’s what one of our Hip readers said about their RVshare experience:

“We rented a 30-foot motorhome a couple of summers ago from RVshare. We rented it in South Dakota and traveled to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a blast and our family loved that way to see the country vs. being stuck in a van. We figured we saved money this way instead of renting from another company. The owner was good to work with too.” – Connie

three people standing in front of valley in zion national park

This could be a great opportunity to gift experiences instead of things!

As my kids get older, I’m really finding myself craving more quality time and unique experiences with my family. Was this the most frugal option? Maybe not as we could have probably stayed in a local hotel for a similar cost as our cozy RV, but it wouldn’t have been the same outdoor camping experience, so I thought it was well worth it!

I was grateful to spend time with my family focusing on what’s really important – making memories with each other. Spending time with family is what the holiday season is all about! That’s why renting an RV is a great idea for Thanksgiving or holiday travel.

I guarantee these kids will never forget the vacation when we rented an RV, were all stuck together for 3 days, and in an area with limited WiFi. 🤣

jeep tour in zion

Honestly, I can say this adventure was one of the most fun little getaways I have ever done, and we can’t wait until our next RV rental adventure. For Thanksgiving and winter travel, I highly recommend getting an RV delivered from RVshare if it’s within your budget!

Anyone used this before? Good experience?

    • Rebecca

We have used it before. It was a great first experience with an rv before deciding to purchase our own. It is a little stressful taking someone else’s camper with 5 kids and hoping they won’t break anything, especially with how some of them are cheaply made. But all in all, it was an easy and smooth experience. We picked our camper up from the owner and they showed us how everything worked. That took some time so make sure you plan for that.

    • Connie

We rented a 30 foot motorhome a couple summers ago from RV Share. Rented it in South Dakota and traveled to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, Rocky Mtn Nat’l Park. It was a blast and our family loved that way to see the country vs. being stuck in a van. We figured we saved money this way instead of renting from Cruise America or another company. The owner was good to work with.

      • Sarah Bill

Connie, I would love to do that! How did it work with the RV and your car? Im curious how it gets dropped off and where you stay to see the sights.

      • siena95

How much did rv cost for this trip?

  2. Hsharpie14

I have wanted to try this before buying but the cost is a bit expensive. For the cost of renting a RV I can get a 3 bedroom condo cheaper at the beach 🙁

    • Cat

I agree very $$$ but totally different experience between RV & Condo.

  3. pokz007

So you plan a vacation..rent an rv….drive it..pay to park/sleep…need another transpo once u parked ur rv to explore around…pay for cleanup…uhhmmm what else?…im sure this the “the thing” for some families…i have tried it and i have 2 toddlers…im sure its fun..convince me more?

    • Sophie

What’s there to convince? You tried it and didn’t like it.

      • Mary

        LOL 🙂

    • nicole-14

There are ones to rent that are set up or delivered to the location you want so you can do it and avoid most of those cons on your list.

    • julie

You can stay on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land for free.

      • IB

        Thanks for clarifying acronym…lol

      • Susie

How do you look into this?! Sounds very interesting!

  4. Jan

We actually rent our camper out through RV share and it has been one way to add a little income to our family.

    • Ann Marie

      Hi Jan,
I want to give you the heads up to make sure you notify your insurance company for the camper that you are doing this……….if anything happens and you don’t you won’t be covered.

  5. MarMar

What a beautiful family! You and your family look like you all had a wonderful time at such a breath taking location. The RV looks modern and comfortable for a family of 4. Thank you for sharing your experience and including your personal pictures (:

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks so much Mar Mar!

  6. Julia

Looks like an incredible family trip! Love all the great photos!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks so much Julia!

  7. Tracy

I’m in KY and many campgrounds here are booked for the next 4-5 months.

  8. everybodyluvsmonkeys

I so want to try this. We want to go to Destin beach this July. The question is will we save money renting an RV vs renting a condo or hotel for 5 days. Last time I checked RVshare it was pretty pricy to rent an RV for a family of 5. I’ll check it out again and see but most camp sites are probably already booked up for the summer.

    • Rebeccaperson

We rented a house in Shalimar via AirBNB and it was great. Tons of space and great location to jump off to other attractions nearby.

  9. Michelle

OUTDOORSY.COM is a great option for RV rentals 🙂

  10. Juliee

Lina, did you take a turn to drive it? Wondering how long it takes to get comfortable driving with no previous experience?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Juliee! I did not drive it. We drove our own car to Utah and the owners live there and set it up for us. Then we camped in it for three days, then left. But they have had people drive it to other states and back. Seemed manageable since it wasn’t a huge one. 🙂

      • Juliee

Ooooh! I get it!! Ready, set, camp WITHOUT the driving headache!!! Thanks for explaining. My driving skills for anything bigger than my minivan are questionable at best 😂

  11. katiem

Thank you for this great post! I have been wanting to try an RV with our family but we have never driven one and do not know how to do the hookups etc.. Can anyone let us know how RVing is for a family that has never done it before? Thanks 🙂

    • Sophie

We’ve had 1st time rv-ers, say it was easy to drive our 30ft class a. We go through how everything works and the hook ups, as all owners should. You have to be an outdoor person to enjoy the rv experience.

    • mamahosh

Our family of 6 (all boys, ages 15-5) did our first RV trip in early Oct 21. We all agreed that it was our favorite trip we’ve had as a family! We rented from a smaller company in Denver (B&B RV) and spent three weeks driving through 7 states, clocking in just under 3000 miles. The company we rented from was wonderful, taking the time at pickup to show us how to do all the things needed to feel comfortable using the RV. We rented a 24 footer and my husband said it was very easy to drive (he did all the driving). We paid a little more to rent from a smaller company, as we felt that they would provide better customer service, and we were very happy with them. We can’t wait for our next RV trip!

  12. pokz007

    Anyone used this from nj?..thanks

  13. Betsy

We went to Zion in January. It’s SO beautiful! We stayed in a hotel in Springdale, but I’d enjoy trying something different like this next time.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh thanks for sharing Betsy! Yes, it’s a fun experience!

  14. becca

Thank you for sharing Lina. I love that you have shared an alternative to camping for people who do not want to rough it but want the beauty of being so close to nature. And too that you did it in a way you didn’t have to drive the RV – so you then didn’t have to worry about that and had your personal vehicle to use. Such a great idea. It looks like your family had an amazing time and good memories were made.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

YES! Thanks so much Becca – it was a fantastic time <3

  15. Lulu

We had a great experience renting an 25′ RV through Cruise America for our family of 5 a few years ago. We flew across the country to Las Vegas and rented from there (and had placed several pickup orders ahead of time from Walmart & Sam’s Club to quickly stock the RV) and took it for a 3 weeks route through many of the National Parks (Bryce, Zion, Yellowstone, Badlands, Sand Dunes, Grand Canyon, etc.). Neither my husband nor I had driven or lived out of an RV before, but it was very easy and straight-forward and the perfect vehicle to accomplish the trip. I booked campgrounds directly in the National Parks, and ALL meals were home-based to save time and money. It took a LOT of advance planning for the trip to go as smoothly as it did, but it was a wonderful experience my family all values and are grateful to have done. Kids were just the right ages too (16, 14, 11) – young enough to not have summer jobs/commitments yet, but old enough to keep up on all our physically demanding adventures as well as help with RV/campground tasks.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow that is AMAZING! I agree- those are awesome ages. Thanks so much for sharing about your epic trip. 🙂

    • Mamamia

My friends and I Label those ages as the sweet spot as a parent.

  16. Sharon

We borrowed an RV 20 years ago and bought a 5th wheel the following year. We camp most every weekend. Two weeks ago we traveled to the U.P. Of Michigan and a fabulous time. So glad you enjoyed the time away.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow that sounds awesome! Thanks Sharon!

  17. Lissa C

It’s a hotel on wheels and camping without roughing it too much~what’s not to love? I would think you save by not eating out or paying for airfare to get to where you’re going. Additionally, you can bring your pets- a huge plus for us animal lovers. Thanks for sharing your adventure! It gives me fun vacation vibes!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yay so fun! You’re correct on the pets. Some owners let you bring pets, which is awesome. 👏

  18. Tamara

Just beware for those of you who like to plan ahead. I booked a trailer last July (2020) for our annual camping trip this July (2021) and I got a notice Memorial Day weekend that the owner is moving across the country so he cancelled my reservation. I never thought this would be a possibility and it was devastating for our family since there is NOTHING available for July 4th week this late in the game. Just an FYI.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that happened. 🙁

  19. NubianGoddess

You have such a nice family!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thank you so much 😍

  20. xkitkatzx

Thank you for suggesting this kind of trip! It sounds amazing and great to hear you had a good experience!! It might be the kind of thing for my family’s nxt adventure!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure! And yes it was a fun adventure -try it! 🙌😍

  21. Sue

What a beautiful looking park, my husband and I will have to go there. I didn’t know that you could rent an RV and that is really great. I don’t like sleeping in tents anymore too scary now at least that’s how I feel about tents. Thanks for the information.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure! It was a fun time Sue!

  22. Becky

I really wanted to try this RV-sharing thing until I see the deposit fee. How does that make it a good deal?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes there is a deposit just like AirBNB and renting a house/condo. I got mine back pretty quick after the trip though.

  23. pattydunton

The best family time is while camping.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      YES! Agree.

  24. dee

My family loved doing this..We used outdorsy which is similar to rv share. Our kids meet some terrific friends camping. I am cinsidering purchasing a rv since we feel confident that we are able to navigate using an rv.this is a good first step before deciding if it is for you. If not let rv share/ outdoorsy set up and take care of the maintence

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

How awesome, I agree! Thanks for sharing!

  25. ziggy10

We have been debating on doing this for quite a while now. As avid travelers all over the country for many years now, we know a great deal when we see it. And I agree, the deposit is steep and honestly the nightly fee is too. Unless you live near some awesome park or something and the owners just drop it off for you to stay in, it doesn’t seem like a good deal at all. And Hip2Save ladies seem to be pushing this not so great deal pretty hard. Must be getting some serious kickback lol

  26. Tara T

We did this to experience Yellowstone! We used outdoorsy.com but have heard great things most rv share sites. Sure camping is not for everyone but we had an absolute blast! There is something to be said for camping right in Yellowstone with elk munching grass 15 yards from your camper. I recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure!

  27. Talinardh8172

We’ve owned a camper for almost 8 years and go every month from March to November and absolutely love it!! Our family bonds and it’s an awesome experience. My daughter was 18 mths old when we started and she’s almost 9 now. I recommend camping for everyone. It is hard work setting up and tearing down but it’s worth it!! 💜

  28. burksaving

We just ordered one for next weekend as a last hurrah before school with all the teens and my parents! Easy transaction and the rental will be dropped off and picked up by a local guy!! Cannot wait for our short trip!

  29. dee

Thank you for the reminder! Will be using outdoorsy to book my trip to Lancaster PA this fall..love camping

  30. Evie

Humm, I think the price of rentals and housing is going up so fast, all of us may be living in one of these.

  31. Mari

I LOVE that adventure framed map!!! Where is it from??

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

It’s cute i agree! This was a rental RV for us so unsure the origin of that map. Sorry!

    • Tammy

I own an RV and keep seeing similar maps while looking for decorations on Amazon. They have a ton of different styles, framed and unframed. Or you can buy a map (or print one), get a frame and add adventure in vinyl in any color. I think I will do that with a map from our town.

  32. Sushi

We rented through a business vs RV share. They delivered the RV to our site, set all up & cleaned up after. It was such a unique experience to stay in one.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! Yes, I love this as a unique travel experience <3

  33. Mary

Parents of 4th graders! If you google 4th grade national park pass every year, beginning Sept 1 all 4th graders and their families in the fourth grade have access to their own Every Kids Outdoors pass. (www.every kid outdoors.gov). This pass provides free access to national parks across the country. You must print the pass to be able to use it.

    • mamahosh

We have a 4th grader and used this while on our RV trip in October Just from two parks we visited, we saved over $200 in park entrance fees for our family of 6 and our vehicle!

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yes that is a great deal! Thanks for sharing!

  34. Laura Cook

Yes just this last weekend we had booked one because it was recommended by H2S. They cancelled on us a week before. Too late to find another one for our sized family. We were refunded but we’re still out the fees at the campground and it was an autism fundraiser we were a Platinum sponsor for. We’re out a couple thousand dollars and it made our business look bad because we weren’t able to show. I would use extreme caution if your dates are set in stone.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

We’re so very sorry to hear about this, Laura. Do you have a good email address that we can share for customer service to reach out to you?

      • RVshare

We were so sorry to hear about Laura’s experience. This was an unfortunate situation, and we wanted to make it up to her. We have been in touch and are working to compensate her and her family. – The RVshare Team

  35. Pat Goff

We love traveling. We load up the car and head out on 3-4 day trips every month and then a week in Iowa with family and the yearly two weeks in Europe. Haven’t done it since last year. Really miss it. We go to visit Family in LA, AR, MO, OK, TN, IA, and KY. Everybody gets at least one visit a year and we all have a blast. Love my army family too.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow yes that sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing Pat!

  36. Tori

We had family book through RVShare for a vacation with us in July. Owner cancelled the day they were to pick up the RV, due to previous renters trashing the motorhome. They could not get another rental that last minute, it was a nightmare!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! So sorry to hear about your experience, Tori. Do you have a good email we could pass along to customer service for you?

I had a similar experience with Turo cancelling my car rental 5 days before the trip, because previous renters stole the car! Turo car rental were great about getting me into another car though!

Great post – thank you for sharing. Any chance you could do a post soon about more trip ideas for over the holidays and winter break? Maybe weekend ideas and week-long trip ideas. We are looking for different ideas for this upcoming December/early January. Coming from the cold Midwest, a big plus for ideas of where to go where we might enjoy warm weather. (PS not looking for Disney or Disneyland – we have been and at the holidays so looking for something completely different). Thanks so much for any ideas you or any readers might be able to provide.

Thanks Becca! Our midwest family enjoys coming to see us for the holidays as I live in sunny Arizona and it’s perfect weather here as an idea! There’s also lots to see at Grand Canyon, Sedona, Saguaro National Park to name a few <3.

thank you Lina…Arizona is a great idea. I appreciate your quick response today.

We bought a pop-up camper early on in the pandemic, and it has just been the best thing for our family. We were able to camp on the beach for 4th of July, with A/C, a stove, and real mattresses. Way better than tent camping! We’re huge fans of Air Bnbs, when we travel, but this has opened up a whole new world of opportunities to explore. I would suggest that a anyone try it at least once!

Thanks so much Sol! What a great way to travel!

Lina, send me good vibes as I have been writing owners and they haven’t been responding and we need to book an RV because our flights are already booked and the goal is to get from Denver to Yellowstone! Thanks!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh I am definately sending good vibes! Yellowstone is so beautiful 🥰

    • Sophie

Try calling rvshare. They can actually call the owners and try to get a response quicker.

Anyone concerned about diesel price? It would costs $$$, to fill the tank! 🤷🏻‍♀️

We rent a 38ft trailer every year. We camp at a campground at the beach. It’s nice having a shower and it’s easier than setting up a rent and all the bedding

What a fun vacation. I bet this would be something they would remember.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes in fact my daughter says this was her fav and keeps asking to go again. ♥️

What city did you travel from to Zion and how much was total cost of rv rental? Thanks

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I traveled to Zion from Arizona and the owner of this RV who rents it out met us at the campsite with it and hooked it up for us. It was around $200-300 a night plus a little extra to have them deliver I believe. My daughter says this has been her fav trip and we have stayed at lots of hotels lol – I think it was more memorable. 🙂

Check out ‘Outdoorsey’ too. They have RV and Pop up trailer/campers. I live in Salt Lake City area and have a pop up camper we just listed for rental on that site. Not the same as an RV but probably less expensive. You’d need a vehicle that could tow a pop up though. (I was surprised at how many can sleep in our trailer.)

Who can afford gas for this anymore?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

In our case we didn’t drive it, but rather rented it at the park…But yes gas is something to consider. Could still be less than flying though. We looked up flights today for a future trip and they doubled.😳

      • Baker's Wife

Yikes. Thank goodness for you all and this site to help us save where we can!

  46. Patricia Goff

Wish I could drive it to Germany. Only place we get to go lately due to trying to get my mother moved here.

  47. MaineMom

This is great to know! I’ve been eyeing a campsite rite on the beach here on the coast of Maine. My pop up needs some work and I’m a single mom and don’t really like to drive too far. So maybe I can go this route. I used to love tenting but with age I’m over it. Lol and even with the pop-up its so much work for 1 person. This sounds like a great option. We’d rather stay in a camper then a hotel any day!I more privacy and your rite on the site no traveling. I hope I am amble to find something! Thanks for all the great info!

    • MaineMom

I meant drive far with the camper.( Had a bad experience)

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes! It’s perfect, and so convenient and cozy. 🙂

  48. Holly

I love that you had a great experience but I did not. I did not rent an rv because I could not get owners to respond to me and then the owners that did drifted in conversation. I was a newbie to RV’s and asked standard question and of course was very polite in my communication. I got the vibe like if it aint easy they arent interested. I spent 1.5 months trying to find one off RVShare and ended up renting off Cruise American and had a great experience.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh Darn! Sorry to hear that Holly. Thanks for sharing, and I am glad to hear you still were able to experience an RV.

Imagine the cost to fill an RV tank! We are at $5+ a gallon
