Black Friday and the 2024 holiday shopping season are around the corner and retailers and delivery companies are preparing for a peak shopping season by hiring seasonal workers and offering thousands of jobs.

If you’re interested in picking up a little extra work this holiday season, these companies are some of the nation’s largest seasonal employers and they’re trying to attract part-time and full-time workers with competitive pay and perks!

These seasonal jobs are definitely worth checking out, and there’s bound to be more with the upcoming holiday season approaching quickly!


These 17 companies are hiring seasonal and holiday employees in 2024:


1800 flowers

1. 1-800-Flowers plans to hire some 8,000 seasonal and year-round employees.

According to Reuters, 1-800-Flowers has announced its plan to once again hire some 8,000 seasonal and year-round employees. Many positions are located in Illinois, Ohio, and Oregon, as well as some work-from-home positions. To learn more, head to 1800Flowers.com.

2. Transportation and logistics provider, Geodis, plans to hire 3,700 seasonal employees.

Geodis is prepared to handle the holiday volumes! The company plans to hire 3,700 seasonal employees across the U.S. and Canada. There will be plenty of warehouse openings for job seekers. 3. Macy’s will be hiring thousands of seasonal workers in 2024.

Do you like perks such as a weekly paycheck, early access to pay, store discounts, and an opportunity for full-time employment after the season ends? Macy’s might be the employer for you!

This year they are hiring thousands of seasonal workers, and it’s likely these job listings will increase as the holiday season approaches. Visit Macy’s website to see seasonal jobs near you!

The company, along with Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury, plans to hire some 31,500 seasonal workers. Many of these jobs are located in NJ and NY and the pay ranges from $16 – $28 per hour.

4. Target aims to hire 100,000 seasonal employees. 

Target was just named one of the best companies to work for by Forbes Magazine and the company just announced it plans to hire 100,000 seasonal employees. Some of the roles include warehouse operations specialists, fulfillment and general merchandising experts, store attendants, food and beverage specialists, and more! Target’s minimum starting wage is between $15 – $24 per hour and seasonal employees receive perks like flexible scheduling and a store discount.

5. UPS is hiring 125,000 holiday workers. 

UPS is preparing for the holiday rush by hiring 125,000 workers! Part-time and full-time positions are available with many being package handlers or delivery drivers. Even better, UPS stated that 75% of these jobs don’t even require an interview and part-time workers make at least $21per hour!

In addition to attractive hourly pay rates, eligible seasonal employees who are students can earn financial college assistance through UPS’s Earn and Learn program. As far as we know, this benefit still applies to holiday workers. Interested applicants can apply at www.jobs-ups.com.

6. Amazon is hiring a whopping 250,000 employees this season.

If you’re in need of a seasonal job, Amazon has got you! The company is hiring at least 250,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees. Wages start at $18 per hour and Amazon offers flexible scheduling. Amazon’s website already has several seasonal openings listed. Most we spotted were in sorting warehouses and fulfillment centers. 7. Bath & Body Works gives employees a 40% discount.

Do you love the smell of Bath & Body Works fragrances? If so, this seasonal job might be for you! The company has announced it is hiring 30,000 seasonal employees across its 1,800 stores and 2,700 distribution centers. Stores are looking for part-time sales associates and the distribution centers are hiring several full-time positions. Seasonal employees receive benefits like a 40% discount on store products, Daily Pay, and flexible hours!

8. Dick’s Sporting Goods is hiring up to 8,000 workers.

The popular sporting goods store is looking to hire seasonal staff and the company was recently listed as #14 on FORTUNE’S Best Places To Work In Large Retail.

If interested in working at Dick’s, apply at first apply online at dickssportinggoods.com/jobs. Then, visit a local store or distribution center on National Signing Day – October 8th –  to meet the team and be interviewed. If you cannot make it out on National Signing Day, still apply online. Hiring will continue until positions are filled!

9. FedEx has seasonal positions and many start at or over $18/hour.

Though FedEx has not made a major announcement about hiring, there are several seasonal positions listed on their website for locations across the country. They’re looking for temporary warehouse employees, delivery drivers, and administrative employees. Visit the FedEx website to learn more about working for FedEx or apply for a seasonal position.

10. JCPenney is hiring more than 10,000 seasonal employees.

JCPenney just announced plans to hire some 10,000 holiday employees. The company is hosting a recruiting event in-store and online from October 16th to October 18th. Employees get a 25% store discount, shift flexibility, and do not need to work Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. 11. Joann is hiring over 5,000 holiday team members.

Joann recently announced plans to hire over 5,000 seasonal employees. The store did have two major hiring events in September, but there are still positions needing to be filled! To learn more, visit Joann’s job board.

12. Kohl’s is hiring thousands of workers for the holidays!

Kohl’s has a plethora of job listings for seasonal workers at their stores and distribution network. While the hourly pay varies by position, Kohl’s associates are all offered a 15% Kohl’s discount every day and the company also offers flexible scheduling.

13. Aldi is hiring 13,000 seasonal employees and at a higher rate than last year!

Affordable grocer Aldi is planning to hire 13,000 seasonal employees. Employees can expect between $18 and $23 an hour for store and warehouse positions. Plus, those who work more than 30 hours a week can get access to PTO and healthcare. To look for jobs, visit Aldi’s career site.

Michael’s is ranked highly when it comes to how they treat their team members and they pride themselves on celebrating passion and creativity among their team. If that sounds like a good gig to you, check their seasonal job listings. At the time of this post, there are over a thousand positions open nationwide.

15. United States Postal Service is actively hiring seasonal employees.

As the holiday season approaches, USPS knows that this is definitely their busiest season. Their website mentions that they are “actively hiring” holiday employees. The USPS offers competitive compensation, on-the-job training, and opportunities to potentially become full-time, if desired. 17. Burlington Coat Factory is hiring over 24,000 seasonal workers.

Those in need of seasonal work may want to try Burlington Coat Factory. The retailer announced it was hiring at least 24,000 workers. Apply online, in-store, or head to one of their hiring events. The next event takes place October 29th and 30th.

Roles include 1,500 full-time seasonal warehouse associates for first, second, and weekend shifts. There will be 23,000 part-time seasonal roles available at stores including cashier associates, retail sales associates, and retail stocking associates.
