A state stimulus check might be headed your way in 2022.

Some states are providing economic relief via tax rebates.

Though the federal government probably won’t send stimulus checks in 2022, you might be receiving some help from your state. In the latest attempt to combat inflation and stave off a recession, well over a dozen states have decided to send income tax rebate checks to their residents. Most of these refunds are for small amounts (so don’t get too excited) but we do have the scoop on who qualifies and when to expect a payment!

Find your state below and see if you qualify for a stimulus payment:

  1. Family Affair

For the unemployment, what options do high risk people have for filing? Is it dependent on different states or what? Our niece is diabetic and single parent and we are worried to death for her and said file the unemployment. Our other niece has lupus and she works with the school division who keeps shutting down but now has some options coming up. We told her stay at home! My husband is well against any type of assistance but this is about their health. I was just wondering if anyone had family in similar situations and what you all did or are doing.

    • Kelly

I have lupus and I receive disability. My husband works and I stay home with the kids, who are home schooled. My health comes first before anything.

      • Family Affair

Thanks for the response Kelly! Her mother has been in and out of the hospital out of the area so we kind of feel like parents to our niece with lupus. I am going to just suggest they both consider their health and check into all options. Have a great holiday!

    • Heather V.

Unemployment is determined by each state.

  2. Patricia Goff

Arkansas never had the eviction moratorium. I know several people that are homeless because they were evicted. Quite a few of my daughters friends are couch surfing. It hurts both ways. The landlord needs the money to pay his bills etc. I am glad that people are going to get some help but I don’t agree that people who make enough money (I don’t have a dollar amount but like 100,000 a year etc.) should get any stimulus payment. I know fair is fair but if they are still working and making the same paycheck they shouldn’t receive as much help but that is my opinion even if it isn’t popular.

    • Vannie

Patricia, I agree with you I don’t make 100,000 a year but my hours did get cut but not mow I am back to normal hours, I am OK not receiving this money because I’d rather them give it to people who make 20 30,000 a year

    • celians

According to this blog post, the full stimulus amount gets reduced for a single person after $75,000 of income and is completely gone if they earn more than $87,000, which falls in line with your thinking. To some, those numbers might still seem high, but I think it is fair considering that certain areas of the country have a much higher cost of living (e.g. $2,000/month to rent a 500 sq ft studio.) Being someone who lives in one of those HCOL areas, I think the income thresholds as proposed in the bill are reasonable.

      • celians

To clarify my comment, when I said “reasonable”, I mean that the income limit does not need to be any higher. People earning more than $87,000, even in HCOL, should be fine without a stimulus check.

Personally, I have built up some savings and thus I do not necessarily need the check, so I will set it aside to make donations to people/organizations in need and purchase from small businesses.

    • Amy

what about the fact that those people making that dollar amount are still paying taxes like you? they are still paying in to social security and health benefits, so why should they just be put aside bc of a dollar sign?

      • Patty

Agreed. We’ve always ended up paying WAY more in taxes than lots of people we know but do not get ANY extra benefits. One example is we’ll never have kids in school and still pay taxes that cover them and so on. Do I get a special lane or road to drive in that my taxes paid for? Nope. So….. when there is something people receive for help, who is to say we don’t need/derserve it? A friend once said we should pay more for milk because we make more money! Yup! Paying off student loans for years on end while she didn’t doesn’t matter? Well, think about what you say before you say it.

    • Lisha

I agree. If you are fortunate to still have your income and you’re affected a bit (eg. slightly higher energy costs), just deal with it. There are those who truly need and they no longer have a regular paycheck. Blessings and peace.

    • Crystal

I totally agree with you!!! My husband and I are still receiving our normal paychecks, so I don’t want to take money away from those who need it more than we do. I don’t understand why those who are still working and receiving their normal wages are included. Yes, the money is helpful, but if it was strategically given to those individuals and businesses who are suffering due to the pandemic, those in need could get so much more. Just my opinion.

      • L

Honestly we don’t really have the infrastructure to do it that way quickly or effectively. There is a lot of job instability and underemployment, not to mention who would manage that system when things are changing regularly? The states are overwhelmed managing unemployment alone. It would likely cost more in administrative costs to hash it out more narrowly or take a long time as people fall through the cracks. The solution as it is – though certainly far from perfect- avoids these issues and also presumably has some economy stimulating effect which is another goal. I see where you’re coming from and my family personally would be happy to forego the stimulus but instead I’m happy those who need something are getting it quickly and relatively efficiently and I’ll spent our checks supporting the local economy by spending it here and tipping big.

    • Lisa

I agree. We are a single income home with four kids. Extra money is always welcome but we have always done well enough. My husband made the comment that the bulk of the money should be going to those who actually need it. Whose jobs were directly impacted. We have been lucky that, except at the beginning, my husbands job has gone back to normal.

      • Amy F;)

We felt weird about the extra money too, because we were doing ok, so we gave a chunk of the last check to the local food bank. Passing the money on to someone who needs it more is always an option:)

    • Amanda

I agree. If you were doing fine before COVID and are still doing OK now, you probably don’t need the check. And you’ll likely just put it in savings, which won’t help the economy from collapsing anyway. Anyone in that position should do their patriotic duty and use it to support a small business or local restaurant!!

  3. Emily

While $600 will be nice, it’s not enough to really solve any problems. Also keep in mind this is a $900 BILLION DOLLAR package and there are 331 million Americans… even if all Americans qualified (which they wont) that’s only $198 billion (or less than a quarter of the total package) going to Americans.

I am lucky enough to be in a financial position where I don’t “need” the help (though it will be appreciated as there are things I have been putting off due to money), but for families with little ones or those who have been laid off $600 is a little insulting.

    • kristi

It’s because it includes such ridiculousness such as: $10M for ‘gender programs’ in Pakistan. Perhaps because people not knowing which bathroom to use takes priority over Americans getting food on their table…

      • Notforus

This!!! Our government is not here for us. Every single person in Washington right now needs to get the boot and we need REAL people in those offices NOT millionaires making these decisions. They aren’t listening to the people at all. Unfortunately, it is only going to get worse. Majority of people just don’t get it…

        • Sonia

I totally agree with you! These useless politicians are only looking out for themselves. They all need to be fired! It only took them 9 months to come up with this garbage. The president should veto this garbage. Most Americans are clueless about what these do nothing politicians on both sides are doing and how corrupt they really are.

          • Emily

You could always run for office – or encourage those that you know to run for office.

          • Damien

Of course if he vetos it people get $0 and congress spends another 9 months discussing things.

      • Sue H

Absolutely. People have no idea what BS places this money will be spent. When you see that, it’s a slap in the face to Americans to not only take this long but only end up with $600/person.

      • Emily

There’s value in those things too… but not necessarily in the context of pandemic relief.

      • riss

I read about that! Isn’t it ridiculous? It’s a stimulus package, to stimulate the economy in the US, and help Americans. Why is there a need to appropriate millions of $$$ to other country? I’d say help Americans first! SMH

        • DebJ

I was told we give money to other countries to get favors or whatever in return. It’s not that our government does it out of any goodness in their hearts. It’s all about greed. I was a republican for over 30 years. I changed to independent about a year or so ago. It didn’t feel right anymore. Mitch McConnell is a disgrace. I hope the Dems win in GA and take over the senate. I have NO regrets switching parties.

        • L

Actually the foreign aid money isnt “part” of the stimulus. It is a regular budget bill that passes yearly and was negotiated bipartisanly with presidential involvement. The stimulus was tacked on to a preexisting bill. It wasn’t part of the negotiations about the other stuff. But yes I agree with the overall premise that Congress needed to step up to the plate much sooner. Some members of Congress have been trying for a while though.

      • Michele

It’s not for “people not knowing which bathroom to use”, lol! It is for gender equality issue. Women and girls are treated very poorly in Pakistan. This is to help girls go to school and to provide woman’s abuse assistance and things of that nature.

    • Sharon Kay

The little ones get $600 each so I don’t feel sorry for families with kids.

  4. Robin L Brown

What I don’t understand is why Dependents that are adult (College Students) don’t receive a stimulus. Most of them are home and cant work due to the restrictions. Doesn’t seem fair as they need it as much as a little kid. Just because the parents are trying to help out their adult children while in school.

    • lee

Robin I concur! I think I pay more for my college student because they are home and can NOT work. Just because they are 18 doesn’t mean they self-sufficient!

    • Karen

My 17 year old senior didn’t get money last time either. And he’s absolutely my most expensive child of the 3. 😂
Now he’s finally headed to college next month and I’m sure he’ll still get zero. So frustrating. I would love if he could get $$ for expenses. He needs it much more than us.

    • Lisa

I agree. I have two college students who have leases on apartments they cant get out of. My one couldn’t find a job for 6 months and the other hasn’t worked because its a college town and the campus has no jobs, because MI campus’ are closed, and the other places try to hire locals. They’re going through their saving so fast and they get nothing from the government both times.

  5. Sarah

Well, the president didn’t sign it.

  6. IB

Thank God for President Trump..he is demanding $2,000 for every person.

    • Emily

I hope our leaders call his bluff on this and put $2000 in the bill, and send it back to him. Democrats have been calling for that amount since the beginning and the Republicans pushed for the lower amount.

      • Lauren

High five to you, Emily. You seem like you have a healthy perspective on this stuff backed up by actual facts. I’ve seen several of your comments throughout the thread.

      • Peaches

You can thank Mcconnell that no one is getting $2000. He has refused to present a vote on just the stimulus check increase and instead is tying it to two other items on Trump’s wish list that Democrats will not agree to. There are tons of people weighing in on this issue, some for the $2000.00 and some against. If you can stomach some of the really vile remarks it makes for interesting reading.

    • JMcRayde

      🙏🏼

    • Stella

Trump is the reason our economy has tanked, we lead the entire world in COVID deaths and infections, we are socially, culturally, racially and economically divided as a country. Good riddance to this horrible, petty, vile cretin. People continue to die and suffer and all he does is play golf. Disgusting.

      • Mary Anne

Our economy was in great shape before Covid and Trump inherited $20 trillion in debt from Obama! Trump has been backing US citizens to receive more money, from the start of the second stimulus bill was brought up! Democrats can’t pass a bill unless they add their pork and $$$ for their pet projects into it, democrats put into the bill all the money for foreign aid and more millions for the arts. This is 2 separate bills that were actually combined and Trump put a redline on all the senseless spending for foreign aid, Pelosi could careless want US citizens receive, she has fought Trump all the way for 4 years. CA gave illegals stimulus checks, maybe people should research the bill and all the needless pork the Democrats added to the bill.

        • MellisaB

I agree, the Democratic Party wants to give the US away to foreign countries. The amount of money that went to other countries via the “pork”, like Pakistan and Egypt and others. Why do we give any money to foreign countries???? Why is the US responsible for every country in the world? Not fair, stop sending our money out of our country!!

        • Guest24

I disagree… Check out your REPUBLICAN Ted Cruz , In this “stimulus” for “the people” ……Hidden in this bill is his “favor” to the Fracking industry, to the tune of $35 MILLION….. because they “donated” to his 2016 election…. and NOOOOOO, CA illegals DID NOT receive stimulus checks, You, in my opinion, need to check YOUR facts… The “pork” was added by the Republicans.

      • Kelly

No, if you pay attention to the state level, the states that are run by Republicans are doing fine. The states run by Democrats are the one with tanked economies and huge death rates.

        • v

          THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!

    • queen62

Where was he at before? Now all of a sudden he wants to give $2,000 a bunch of BS for a president that is playing golf while so many people are dying. He could care less about you his concern is to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Don’t think for a minute that he cares. Just like the health plan that he’s working on.

      • Mary

Queen62, you nailed it! Agree with 100%.

    • Darla

This bill has been in the work now for over a month and he said nothing about it. He’s checked out. He just wanted to make it look good. What he did instead was delay the bill over a week now and unemployment benefits have run out. Democrats wanted $2,000. Republicans did not.

  7. Lillianna a Watkins

$900 one time is not enough.
    $2000 per month, is.
President Trump is on the right path, compared to this pitty bill coming for him to sign.
Shame on Biden speak up for more.
Is this your actions once in office, sit back and let others have their way on pitty bills.

    • kristi

Biden has been in politics for nearly 40 years with nothing to show. He’ll just be a puppet president until he no longer remembers his own name.

      • Sonia

Biden is a corrupt politician and he is totally incompetent! The Democrats fraudulently stole the election based on lots of evidence that the main stream media and big tech want to hide and censor! I hope President Trump is victorious so that this country doesn’t become like communist China or North Korea.

        • Emily

Sonia – there is no evidence of election fraud. I’d be more than happy to provide you with some fact-check sources.

I voted for Biden; most people I know voted for Biden. America voted for Biden this year.

          • Elena

What a joke! There is plenty of proof. You just don’t want to see it.

            • wifeandmomof3

              Exactly! There is proof.

              • Amy

there is no proof. also, you can’t disagree with the electoral college. trump lost, get over it. everyone is acting like small children when they don’t get their way. this is what democracy is, we vote, we change. So if you are unhappy, make sure you canvas and poll for your candidate in 2024!

                • Family Affair

That’s just such a callous thing to say. We literally spent 4 full years listening to every excuse as to why the 2016 election was rigged BECAUSE Trump won then. I just don’t understand all the nastiness surrounding this election when we need to get together as a country. We must stop all of the politics and just love thy neighbor.

              • Joa

So why have the courts continued to reject the suits? No one has been able to provide proof of fraud.

            • Casey

              lol, seriously?

I live in PA. We do have proof of fraud; 2 folks registering their dead mothers to vote for Trump and 1 guy coming back to vote posing as his son… to vote for Trump. There is not, however, proof of any widespread fraud.

Source: I work in a county elections office. It would be near impossible for have that kind of fraud with the systems we use.

            • 5pink1blue

              Yes!

          • Baker's Wife

            Ha Ha Ha!

        • Tina9222

Get OVER the fact that the election is done and over with! Let’s hope we can have a decent MAN instead of a FAKE DUPE in OUR HOUSE!!! We deserve peace, all we did was go backwards the last four years. Now as for all the money we’re getting, we will be paying for it for years to come. NOTHING is FREE!!!

          • TrueAmerican

Tina9222. This decent MAN you speak of, has tried for FORTY years to become President, there is a reason he was denied and rejected by the American people. But now all of a sudden we are supposed to believe 80 Million Americans voted BIDEN?? No way. Do NOT tell Americans that we deserve peace NOW, when for the last 4 yrs, people like you and the Democrats gave Americans nothing but grief because they couldn’t handle the fact that Americans VOTED Trump as President!! Now we have to ‘get over it’ and deal with Biden as President?? NO!! You are right, we deserve PEACE. We will not see peace for the next four years:(. I have a challange for you, tell AMERICANS 5 reasons why Biden is the best leader for OUR HOUSE, without mentioning TRUMP once!!

        • simmonsd

I’m a republican and voted for Biden! Many of my republican family/friends were done with the insanity of Trump and voted against him. Republicans can try again in 4 years! Thankfully that’s how our elections work.

          • melissast

            👏 commendable comment!

            • joni shandle

mine kind of person good for you!

          • Mary

            Nice 👍

        • 5pink1blue

          👍

        • Mary

Sonia, Biden won. It was a fair election but you all can’t deal with the fact that Trump lost. Trump supporters please to accept it and just move on. Trump lost as he should have for letting the American people down when we needed him the most. Bye bye!

        • Casey

          LOL

        • V

          BIDEN WON!!!

      • Emily

Are you serious right now? Biden oversaw the one of the biggest economic recoveries in America back in 2009, brokered bipartisan negotiations in 2011 to avoid a government shutdown, expanded healthcare to millions of Americans, sponsored the original Violence Against Women Act, introduced the senate’s first climate change bill (leading to a taskforce on global warming), and sponsored legislation to protect children from predators… just to name a few things.

        • SavingsMama

That’s going to be any everyone’s own viewpoint argument. Personally, the medical coverage through Obamacare was a higher amount than what we already had previously so it didn’t save any money. The stimulus plan was extremely low. A family member had a horrible case of H1N1 and there was really no help for them. And several of our family’s jobs got shut down and basically left the US for foreign countries to profit on the same business. A lot of positive gains were made through the past 4 years and we have a lot more to show financially and our more self sufficient. But…that is just one viewpoint same with the election argument. The most important thing we can all do is support each other, respect differences and accept that all readers on Hip2Save want to save their money no matter what political background they have 😁

          • mrswagley

            Well put!

    • Sam

Trump is the president right now and the last four years. How u going to bring up Biden name? Lol

    • Darla

This bill has been in the work now for over a month and he said nothing about it. He’s checked out. He just wanted to make it look good. What he did instead was delay the bill over a week now and unemployment benefits have run out. Democrats wanted $2,000. Republicans did not.

    • Darla

You need to pay more attention and read a newspaper. Still has been in the works for over a month. Democrats wanted $2,000 the Republicans did not. Trump has been golfing and not paying attention to anything. it’s the Republicans fault that we are only getting $600. People need to get there news from reputable sources. Liliana you can blame the Republican held senate for this one. Not Biden OMG SMH

  8. Tina

Unfortunately President Trump sent the bill BACK to the house saying he wanted more! While that is what everyone really wanted they felt American people needed a payout NOW. So unless the President agrees to the current agreement We will Not see Any Money anytime soon.

    • Mollie

I will have our check on January 4th, which could not come soon enough. I have a friend that works at the bank and she called me and let me know that it would be deposited then.

  9. Materof6

So much political polarization, and though I will keep my opinions to myself, I do marvel at how Hip2Save is just trying to post helpful tips for folks to either save money or otherwise, and it turns sometimes in the comments to absolute political opinion mayhem. I can imagine Collin and the team either being amused or saying, “Uh, just trying to help, folks!” Hahaha! Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Hip2Save!

    • Ed

Because people can’t help themselves from bringing their polarizing views into every situation in life. It must be a very miserable life.

    • rocme2

They can turn off the comments. They do so on any post regarding their app (no idea why, I’m interested to know if other users have the same issues I do). I appreciate this site, but I don’t appreciate that over the years they haven’t turned off comments that will undoubtedly lead to the poopstorm you see here and it’s because they want the clicks.

  10. BinnieBabyMom

What does $3.54 mean, last time my husband received stimulated check of $3.54 and not sure about this time, why some people only received this amount

  11. hip2trade

Checked last night & this morning. Nothing yet.

    • elizabeth-17

I don’t think the amount is finalized. The Senate is discussing upping the amount to $2000. The House has approved $2000 but the Senate has not voted yet.

      • amanda

The $600 already passed, McConnell will not bring the $2,000 to the floor for a vote. Therefore, they are proceeding with the $600 payments.

    • elizabeth-17

The amount has not been approved. The House has voted to increase to $2000 at the President’s request. The Senate has to vote to approve the $2000.

    • hip2trade

Last night on the news they said direct deposit would be in possibly as early as last night. 3 people on another site already have their deposits in the bank as of this morning. I know about the 2000 final total that may or not be approved. If it is approved you will get the $2000 minus $600.

  12. Amy

Mine never was pending last time. Just there one day 😁

  13. Yuliya

I wonder if anyone knows the answer… my mom is a green card holder and lives with us but doesn’t work. Will she receive a check? Thanks

    • spuds1142002

I think if you don’t claim her as a dependant and she has a SS card then yes. if you claim her or she does not have a SS card then no…. I am not 100% sure on that though.

      • Yuliya

Thank you. We do claim her but she does have SS. Not a big deal just wondering since they expanded the payoff to mixed families.

  14. Amy

Noone seems to realize this is a slide into socialism. We as Americans should not rely on the government to fed us, shelter us or clothe us. Get a job. Save your money. Learn to budget. And vote out career criminal politicians. Please put aside the polorizong R vs D politics. We need to stand together to save our country from being taken away from “We the People”. God Bless all Americans in the new year.

    • Kancha

I so agree with this. People need to learn to budget and save for rainy day.

      • dealzgurl

Wow. That comment was surely spoken from a level of privilege that some people don’t have.

        • Amy

Privilege? Why not try harder. Opportunities are out there for EVERYONE. Create a budget, cut expenses and save more money. And please don’t use the tired cliche of “privilege”. You just gotta want to succeed and be willing to grind everyday. Hopefully you will in the new year.

          • Sue

My husband & I budgeted & saved for years. Due to an unexpected medical diagnosis for our daughter & thousands per year in medical insurance, we are on the tightest budget ever with no extras to cut except for cable & internet. I shop at multiple stores to save on groceries. We don’t go out to eat or on vacations. All my daughter’s clothes are secondhand & we haven’t gotten new clothes for ourselves in the last 2 years. We can’t afford a loan to replace our 12 & 15 year old cars. Our wages haven’t gone up, but all my utilities, insurance costs, taxes & fees have. Yet according to you, we are not working hard enough & don’t want to succeed. Coming from someone who said they had to hustle all year, you would think you’d have some empathy for others. You said you are tired of the privilege cliche, yet you assume people struggling are too lazy to get off the couch & that it’s easier being on welfare. Most of us are doing the daily grind and still not getting ahead.

            • DealGetterRN

Call Dave Ramsey… we’re here to help ❤️

            • Amy

              Sue
I get it. Life is not fair some times. I have live through rough times several times over. It sucks. But why should I rely on others or a government handout? That “victim” mentality is our greatest downfall. Instead of listing all the woe is me things start brainstorming ideas to change your situation. Think out side of the box. We can’t rely on the government to take care of us!
I truly hope the new year brings you blessings! Think positive and keep hustling.

              • L

I disagree. I think our selfishness is our greatest downfall. We all benefit from society, whether it be roads, schools, resources or other benefits. To pretend we pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps with no government or societal benefits is just foolish. This is a once a century pandemic. Emergencies are a large reason why we pay taxes. I for one don’t particularly want this for myself but I know many in my community are struggling from underemployment and I am happy if my taxes for once go towards that and not towards bloated military contracts like they have for decades. A little empathy would go a long way.

                • RRTNME

                  well said!

              • Patricia Goff

I agree. People just wait to get bailed out. I have always worked for my money. I worked for 20 years 7 days a week and raised my daughter (she went to work with me except when she was in school) I worked my day job alone and took her with me on my evenings and weekend jobs. I was only off on state holidays when I was off my day job still had to work most of my evenings and weekend jobs though. The government isn’t supposed to support you. I was raised it was your job to support yourself with help from family if needed.

          • Tricia

So what do you say to the first responder who makes $9 an hour with a kid and a disabled wife who got sick from covid and is now on a ventilator and his wife and kid need the stimulus to eat? Was that bad planning or laziness? You can’t tell me a family of 3 can save any money on $9 an hour. Please stop thinking you know it all. More than ever we need compassion in this world. Be a part of the solution.

            • Amy

That’s is tragic. Life is hard for everyone in one way or another. I still don’t understand why so many expect the government to pay their bills. My family and I have had struggles, it’s tough. But we never sat back and waited for the government to send money to pay the bills. We are responsible for our lives. All of it. The good, the bad and the ugly parts.
Having compassion and helping your neighbor is a wonderful way to live… Yet the tone on this thread is one of entitlement and expecting the government to pay the bills. Reach out to family, friends and community.. And let’s all work together to vote out and remove the criminal, career politicians that have corrupted our country.

      • DealGetterRN

Dave Ramsey! Get on those baby steps! Or call Dave & we’ll help you get on the way to your steps to financial freedom!

    • hip2trade

Get a job? Good luck with COVID. Why do you think the checks became necessary? We all know about Socialism(history lessons). This is a temporary situation yet people freak out and go bonkers over minimum government help. You must be well off and won’t need a check of any kind to make this statement?

      • Kelly

I know lots of people getting jobs in Texas. Some new jobs out of college, others just want a new job. And I see tons of places hiring. Especially were around the holidays!!

    • Mere

Oh really? Then where are my taxes going? Why is social security necessary then? The government works for US and we PAY them to. Stop with this trash talk about “getting a job.” Jobs are GONE right now and people need to SURVIVE. What a privileged opinion you have. Our fellow Americans are struggling, lets be KIND.

      • Amy (the first comment Amy)

Yes the government works for us and should be held accountable for the wasteful spending and lining their pockets. That’s part of my point. We need to do better as a country. There are always jobs when you want to work, but welfare is easier I guess. I have personally had to hustle all year to get by. You’d be surprised the opportunities out there if you get off the couch and hustle.
PS Mere you ended your comment with be kind… That’s kinda ironic isn’t it?

      • DealGetterRN

North Dakota has LOTS of jobs right now 😁 it will be below zero weather wise though 🥶 come move here 😀 Our COVID numbers are #1 in the country- if not world- so please once you move here, stay in your new home as much as possible 😷

    • Amy

thank you! there are jobs available, people just think they are beneath them. if you are desperate for 600, then you can go work at mcdonald’s for two weeks, it’s not beneath anyone.

    • Karen

It’s not that easy. So many people live paycheck to paycheck and survive as long as they keep a job. If they or their spouse lose the job, that’s a huge blow. Not everyone can afford to save much and even if they did, this is several months into a pandemic and that savings could easily be depleted. I’m glad you’re fortunate to have savings to fall back on but many families aren’t as fortunate.

    • MellisaB

You are right except one thing, you get sick and can’t work. My husband was a nuclear health physicist and worked all over the country at different plants. He picked up a significant amount of neutron exposure and now has terminal cancer. We lost everything, cars, house, security. If he had of been able to put his income tax into a Roth IRA or some other program, then we would have been fine. He made between 7-8 thousand a month working, he now gets 1200.00 a month on disability. My point is, some people do work, want to work but things are out of their control like health. People seem to think if you are poor, it’s all about mismanagement or being lazy, or whatever, it’s not!!!!

      • Amy

        Mellisa,
That is a bad break and I’m sorry your husband is not well. It sounds like he was very successful and made quite a bit of money. I wonder if there is a lesson for others in your comment. In hindsight, maybe a better savings and retirement plan would have been better? I get that it’s hard now but I feel like we should all learn from our mistakes.

        • Liv

Are you serious? Getting a terminal illness not a “mistake” and spending whatever money you have to help that person is not an option its a necessity!

          • Amy

            Hey there Liv,
Clearly you didn’t comprend the words I wrote. Anubillnese is tragic but many of us deal with those. The mistake was not properly managing a substantial amount of money. It’s is a lesson to all of us to prioritize our wants verses our needs and make the best possible investment and saving choices we can. I never said her husband’s illness was a mistake.

        • L

I really hope you reconsider your tone. This is pretty heartless and unnecessary. I think the self reflection here should really be yours not people who have fallen on hard times.

        • Katrina

Amy, you’re being absolutely inappropriate and passive aggressive. I refuse to waste time pointing out the ways the system is stacked against even the best prepared, but I will point out and emphasize that nobody believes for one second that you meant to be kind or apologetic to Mellissa. That was opportunistic and exploitative, but worst, extremely mean.

          • Kelly

I 100% believe Amy. It ducks that people fall on hard times hut is a good lesson. She herself mentioned saving in his IRA. Why wasn’t he.

          • Amy

            Katrina,
Wow. I truly was thoughtful and meant no ill will. Maybe you took it alittle too personal? Shouldn’t we all learn from our mistakes? I have no idea what “system” you refer to. Life is unfair and everyone faces hard times, illness and death. Some are more tragic than others, yet we can’t blame the “system”. That’s pointless, immature and a waste of time. Sadly, it appears our culture has become one of entitlement and a perpetual state of being offended. Sad. And pointing out hard facts and truths is not passive aggressive. I’m sorry your feelings were hurt by my truthful observation.

            • Becca C

Just wanted to let you know you’re one of the only ones here making sense. I come from a poor income immigrant family that ran away from a communist country that murdered my grandparents. My father died of cancer, and my mom also had cancer and I had had to push through supporting during her years of treatment. Not once did I rely on the government because I believe that people should be responsible and look after themselves. It was super difficult. There were days where I wanted to give up and die, but I saved, worked multiple jobs while going to school, and life goes on. I’m doing better now because I cut off all luxury and needless expenses that many people in this country take advantage of. No vacation, no games, cheap food, no entitlement. There are charities out there and friends you can lean on, but smaller government control is the way to go. I say this from experience because my family suffered (and died) from a socialist/communist regime.

              • Amy (the first comment Amy)

                Becca,
What an amazing testimony you have!! Thank you for sharing your story and insight. You are an inspiration. I pray and hope you see better days ahead!!

It is scary the “it won’t happen here”, “it’s only temporary” and “it’s a once in a hundred year situation” comments. You have lived through situations you probably thought would never happen to you either. I love our country to much to sit back and watch it be taken away!!
God bless you and I’m sending a hug of support to you!! Only best wishes for you in the new year!!

                • Becca C

Thank you for your kind words. I’m worried about the direction the United States is heading to. All these people who are pushing our country into a socialist agenda need to read and learn about world history. I noticed a certain growing sense of entitlement in people’s mindsets. Socialism has never worked. Communism has never worked. Being dependent on the government and expanding its power only strips away the power of the people. My family escaped from a country like this and I’m worried that the generations after me may experience the same thing in the US if it continues on the trajectory it’s heading. I love this country and I hate to see freedom stripped away. I don’t want the government to take care of me. I rather they interfere with my life as little as possible.

Hope you have a Happy New Year and may God have mercy on the good people left in the USA. Praying for this country!

                  • Amy

                    Amen!! 🇺🇸🤗

        • Kelly

I agree. I don’t understand why he couldn’t have put some of that 7-8k a month into an IRA?!

  15. hip2trade

I think some people are confused about the $600 and the possible $2000. The $600 checks/deposits are being sent immediately. Some already have them in the bank. (Direct deposit). The $2000 has not been approved yet as most of us know. I assume if it is approved then it would be $2000 minus the $600 being sent now? Makes sense to me.

  16. catmom

In reply to Emily, Lauren, Stella, Amy and Tina9222..RIGHT ON😸 tRump has lived rent free in our heads for 4 llooonnngg years…time to evict him! Btw…the Democrats passed the 2000.00 stimulus..Moscow Mitch, the self proclaimed Grim Reaper, denied us…again

    • Mere

Catmom, you’re awesome. Have a great week!

    • Trth45

Don’t worry Catmom, Emily, Lauren, Stella, Amy and Tina9222 Trump will win in the end, come Jan 20th Trump will be Inaugurated the President. Biden is an empty shell, anyone with eyes can see it, he can barely speak, did you see his Thanksgiving speech, he referred to the Book of Psalms as the Palmist. The election fraud is evident in all the 5 states, I saw the numbers switched on election night on my TV screen, votes deleted from Trumps total and added to Bidens. Trump stands for the Constitution, for freedom, Biden is beholden to China and used his son Hunter to sell out America. Hey, I don’t want to live under communist China and neither should any of you. Great sites like this one Hip2Save would no longer exist under China, so pray for the power of Pence on Jan 6th when he makes the final rule!

      • Amy

how much koolaid have you drank?

        • Katie

          A whole country’s worth

        • Jennifer

          Right!

      • Bellabella

Wow! Are you for real? Talk about denial…

      • Emily

Well, I see you’re comfortable making fun of the speaking abilities of a man who overcame a stutter. I’d suggest you dive into some of Biden’s backstory before passing judgement on how he speaks in public. He’s overcome a lot of adversity in his life, and will make a great leader of the United States. I look forward to his inaugural address in January.

Here are some sources to debunk your election fraud claims:
        https://www.factcheck.org/2020/12/nine-election-fraud-claims-none-credible/
        https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-ap-fact-check-joe-biden-donald-trump-technology-49a24edd6d10888dbad61689c24b05a5

        https://www.politifact.com/article/2020/nov/20/fact-checking-false-claims-about-2020-election/

And I don’t know where you get that Biden is sworn to China…

However, you might remember that your preferred candidate, Mr. Trump, was actually impeached earlier this year for abuse of power and obstruction of congress related to shady dealings with Russia. So before you pass judgement and act holier-than-thou, please take a look at your own self and what your priorities are here.

        • Trth45

HAHAHA the Palmist isn’t a speaking disability, especially coming from a supposed devout Catholic! I’m not judging Biden, he is what he is, and it’s very apparent that he isn’t all there. I’ll keep enjoying my kool-aid, it’s refreshing and honest! I don’t support Biden, Hunter’s horrific laptop or abortion, my conscience is clean – is there honestly any better way to live?!! You may want to learn some hard facts, the Russia story was made up, paid for by Hillary and proven false on so many levels, you must do your research!! Living in falsehoods and falling victim to communism could become your reality. Come on over to the light, it’s so much more peaceful and fun, and you too can act holier-than-thou or whatever it is you were trying to say????? My priorities are life, liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness and like I said – is there really any better way to live?

        • Debby

          Fake news

      • Megsie

        Lol

      • 5pink1blue

        Yup

      • melissast

        😂

      • catmom

Sounds like a commercial for FOX (fake) news! Do you also believe Covid is a Democratic Hoax? Our country is clearly devided into 2 camps. Trumpers and never-tRumpers. Im proud to say I’ve been the later since he decided to make his “King’s” entrance down the escalator at his failing Trump Tower. Happy New Year to all 🎉

        • Debby

Totally fake… it’s the flu. Oh wait funny no flu reported this year. Maybe all our “hero” doctors and nurses working beyond their capacity should stop making dancing Tick Tock videos… 🙄🙄

          • Tricia

Spoken like someone who isn’t living it everyday. Maybe you should stop sitting around making hip2save comments about stuff that doesn’t affect your life daily.

      • Alla

        BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ROFL!!!!!

      • Evie

I sure hope so. The reason the country is in dire straights is because the men are no good anymore. I have seen the steady decline since the 1970s. People really need to wise up and stop paying millions of dollars for useless educations to load cargo at Amazon.
Everything has been sold,to the highest bidder!
Good luck to Wall Street getting their $3000 rent checks! I cannot wait till it trickles up!

      • dealzgurl

        Bless your heart.

      • msfrizzle

I’m with you and Amy.. everyone needs to stop watching the FAKE news and listen to what is really happening on the ground through Twitter

        • John

There’s fake news everywhere, however suggesting to look on twitter to find “what’s really happening” is absurd. Twitter is protected by section 230, which essentially means it is not a news site and should thus not be treated as one to obtain reliable information.

      • Katie

        Less of this.

      • Debby

Bravo!! FINALLY someone who doesn’t drink the kool-aid! Biden is a dementia joke and the fact that MORE AMERICANS then we actually have voted makes me laugh. Take off your masks as 78% of transmission is in YOUR OWN HOME… and live your life people. Stop waiting for bailouts or lying morons like Faucci ( who admits to lying ( more like bought and paid for) ) tell you the guesstimate of “science”.

        • Tonya

People like you makes the US a scary place to live. May God bless you with a cleaner heart and a loving spirit in 20201.

    • Deal Dawg

The Democrats are sending more pork overseas than money to the American people. Why can’t Democrats just agree to help Americans? It is our money to begin with. Stop watching fake news.

      • msfrizzle

        I agree! Well said.

      • L

The “pork” was a bipartisan negotiated budget on which the president requested several of the line items. The stimulus was merely an unrelated add on. The Democrats also proposed a pork free $2k stimulus but McConnell is blocking it….

      • Ashley

Why are illegal aliens getting more money than Americans? they’re getting 1,900 and we’re getting 600. How does that make sense

    • Kelly

      Thank you cat mom! Yes!

  17. Evie

This is why the USA needs a universal income. Of course they would fail at this because it would be a $1000 a month.
That way they would be free to close all businesses they want.
No one would work in a store or pick up trash! That is what robots are for.

  18. maria

Any little helps specially when school transportation is limited and you can’t get your kids to school, you have to work part-time to be able to keep your kids in school, your income has been cut drastically. It’s just so ridiculous.

  19. Jill

My taxes got rejected from my bank this yr and so I have to wait on paper checks 👎🏼👎🏼😢😢

  20. HeatherSellers

I’m thankful for this money for my family! If you don’t need yours and are upset that you can not decline it, be a blessing and give it to someone who really needs it.

    • Katie

That’s a good idea for anyone that complains.

    • Brandonnlenee

I gave my first one away. I have been blessed this year and haven’t experienced what others have went thru. This one I will probably stash to wait and see but great ideal to bless others.

  21. Marie

The only chance at $2,000 is if Georgia votes in two Democratic Senators Jan. 05. Republican Mitch McConnell has decided he won’t allow it. BTW, Mitch McConnell is the man in charge of this country right now , as nothing will get past him as Senate majority leader that HE doesn’t like, and Joe Biden won’t get anything done as long as Mitch McConnell is in charge.

    • Deal Dawg

Whose idea was $2,000 to begin with? Not the Dems. They prefer sending our money overseas.

      • L

This is demonstrably false. The democrats have been requesting more money since March and the overseas money was an annual budget agreed upon bipartisanly (the president requested several items) that the stimulus was simply tacked onto.

  22. Sue S

Thank you for being peaches and posting about this info.

  23. DealGetterRN

Regardless of our views on these checks- they are coming it appears. Looking for the positive: Dave Ramsey! We all can be on our way to baby step one! 👏🥳 Way to bring in the new year!

    • Tina Tina

      👏

    • Amy

you mean the man who had a holiday party and wouldn’t allow people to wear masks? the man who literally can only talk about money bc he’s stealing yours?

  24. Michelle Micci

We just got ours in our account…
I feel so bad for all the local businesses and hope they get some relief soon

  25. michelle-10

So, my question is did it show up as pending in anyone’s account today?

    • huertac1

It showed up pending in my fiancé’s but not in mine. I think it just depends on your bank. His says pending until January 4. My aunts says pending until January 1. Last time, mine didn’t show up as pending at all. Just showed up. Hope that helps!

      • michelle-10

It does. Thank you. Have kids going back to in school in a couple weeks was hoping to use on clothes and school supplies. Blah.

    • Patty22jaam

      Yes pending 1/4

  26. Penny

What is going on with hip2save? Allowing this crap for almost 2000 posts. I come here to get away from that stuff. I’ve noticed a huge decline in Hip2Save in overall posting of real deals. Seems likethe fun place to come is just a place for them to make money now. So sad

    • Tina Tina

You’re welcome to not come here then… nobody is forcing you.

    • emma-2

I just sent an email. Absolutely disgusting that people who are struggling right now have to read this on a coupon site.

      • Amy

the thing is, you don’t have to read it.

    • Katie

The initial post is completely relevant as it relates to budget/income/finances. However, I do wish they could have closed comments as it turned quickly into a mess of political banter.

    • Patty22jaam

My thoughts exactly why allow it for this long…comments should be turned off.

      • AngieM

Why don’t you just not come to hip2save!

    • mrswagley

Why click the comment section just to complain about the content and comments?

  27. Tina Tina

I’m just here for the psychotic political comments… *tosses a piece of popcorn in the air and it hits my nose*

    • msfrizzle

It is quite entertaining to listen to these democrats whine and cry like babies..

      • Liz

Look at all the loser Trumpsters hoping for a miracle on Jan 20th….so sad…lost the popular vote in 2016 and 2020…u guys are a minority…..the only reason u have republicans in Congress is all thanks to gerrymandering.

        • Tina Tina

Such hatred on both sides. I never said who I was for. You assumed. The answer is neither. I’m just here to watch both sides spew their hate in the name of being “good people”… just like you!

          • Liz

And my response was MsFrizzle and not to you…

        • Lo

Lol Liz. Thanks for the laugh!! Ppl really are hoping for a miracle 🤣🤣.
Tina Tina- Ms. frizzle highjacked your comment and turned it into spewing hate so Liz just countered it. But then you took the wheel and continued the crazy drive

      • q

The be honest, Trump really exposed the loop holes of the government. I never knew Trump was so mean and he really cares about his self over people. The same could’ve said for Mitch! People really need this money, but you give enormous tax breaks to the big businesses. But you say you do not want to up it to 2,000 to give to the rich democratic who make $75,000…..hmmmm VOTE—— GA! Trump has been moved out the way, now let’s move Mitch out the way do these people can get some relief. My heart go out to all the families who lost someone during this pandemic😢

  28. mollie1234

I wish I could insert a GIF here…”Why can’t we all just get along?” 😂😂 2020 was hard enough on everyone. Show some mercy to your fellow human beings. That’s all I have to say about that. Happy New Years everyone!! Wish you all nothing but the best.

  29. Pure_intentions

Let us be kind to one another regardless of our differences and choices. A blessing is a blessing whether big or small. If it’s something you feel like keeping or giving away – do it with gladness. Have a Happy New Year!

  30. Lolly

If you have your account at a credit union you should see it pending already. If you’re using a regular Bank it might take till next week to show considering there’s a holiday coming up. People will be happy for a couple of days so Mitch McConnell will think we forgot that he said no to the $2,000. Don’t forget! Georgia please vote blue and we should have it approved by February. People will be taken care of and not just corporations.

  31. Tricia

Wow people are just so cruel. After 9/11 everyone came together and the world was so kind. Now it is absolutely disgusting. How sad our world has come to this. Anyway, Thanks for the info hip2save.

    • tkdiana

      Agree 😢

  32. Jan

I can’t believe these comments on Hip2Save not at all what we do here!! Our country is so divided I hope the healing begins soon I pray for us all. And ty Hip2Save for all the blessings you have brought us this year

    • ccmama03

I agree – I contacted them asking to shut off comments. But the said no. Crazy! Why have all of this BS?

      • Bhump

Lol, but they are quick to delete comments that don’t fit their agenda so to say 🤷🏾‍♀️

        • rocme2

My comment was deleted because I pointed out that they don’t allow comments on any posts about their wonky app, but let this post go. Apparently political mudslinging is totes cool because it gets the clicks, but if I want to know if the app crashes for everyone else too when they log in through their affiliated links, that’s a nonstarter. What in the world 😂 I’m about done anyway – they crib so many deals from other sites anyway.

      • Katie

        Why won’t they?

  33. shop4mybabies

was happy to receive this in my credit union account at 9 am this morning. not pending but fully posted. currently staying in a hotel because our sewage and drainage lines broke at home. it’s a massive expensive nightmare. i wish more help was coming but at least i can get some extra food and the kids college books since they start monday

  34. Tara

I’m glad to see more and more people are realizing Hip2Save is making money off devastating division vs. shutting comments off. I’ve sent them messages before……after that is when I realized the truth unfortunately.

    • Casey

      Yet here you are…

  35. Ashley

    Got mine. Already spent.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Aww, Thanks so much for your kind words!! 🥰 SO glad we could help you grab the savings your family needed most. We truly appreciate YOU!😘 Happy New Year! 🎉

  36. I do not shop @ Walmart

Did you received your payment? I am in Washington State and bank with credit union. I do not have any IRS amount pending in my account. The deposit in April was on time.

    • Zara

Some of my Washingtonian friends have it pending already.

  37. Marie

Our stimulus money was deposited today. Hope you received yours too!

  38. Amy Ferreira

I checked mine yesterday and the first check went into the correct acct and the 2nd one went into an acct I have no idea whos acct it belongs to!!!!

    • Kelly S Fowler

Mines was deposit in the last four of my ssn what do that mean?

      • Myesha

Mines too and still nothing is pending or have been posted to my account…Have you receive yours b/c im confused

  39. Myesha

I have a question. My status on irs said my payment was deposited into my account ending in the last 4 digits of my account number but its not my account number its the last 4 digits of my social security number. Is everyone on showing that and if so how long does it take to hit your account?

  40. Queenie

My husband and I got $1200 but nothing for my child. 🙁

  41. Dana

My 23 year old son filed his taxes in 2019 , is not claimed as our dependent , is not a student. He has not gotten the last one , nor has he gotten this one :(( And we don’t know why

    • Amy

My niece is having the same issue. Not sure what the issue is for her either.

    • Zara

It’s because the way IRS processes this money

    • Zara

Maybe paper check will come in the mail which takes longer, if IRS doesn’t have his checking account# or if something not matching on their end.

    • thomas

Same thing happened to my niece. She is 23 and her mother didn’t claim her as a dependent. I read an article stating that if you didn’t receive your first stimulus check you should just file your 2020 taxes and you will receive it that way. She filed her taxes yesterday and she got her 1200 from the first stimulus and also the 600 from the second. The same thing is happening to me. I did however receive my first stimulus but when I check the status from the second it says its not available. I did some research and several articles stated if you are getting this message file your 2020 taxes and you will get it that way. Several websites are saying it’s because of when the second stimulus was rolled out so close to the start of the new tax season. So they are doing it this way to try to prevent a backlog. So he may try this method.

  42. Amy

Mine went pending NYE and I got mine very late last time so I was surprised!

  43. Casey

Got it and will spend locally. Thanks for always trying to HELP your community, Hip2Save!

  44. christine-7

SMH — we do everything electronically and the first stimulus check was electronic. Now they say the 2nd round is being mailed WTH???

    • Katie

We got ours electronically just like the first. Yours will come too.

  45. Anonymous

Got mine for my family of 3 – $20. They should have just kept it! LOL Everyone hang in there!

  46. Patricia Goff

I got my 600 but I shared it with my brothers as they are not eligible for the stimulus because they are on disability and I claim them on my taxes since they live with me.

    • Gramma C

      That was very kind.

  47. Living4fridays

Thank you for posting! We received the first stimulus payment last year as a check late in the year because we didn’t have a joint bank account on file. According to this search, its in my hubs bank account… muhahahaha…not for long!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  48. Amyr

… “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” JFK

  49. Yuliya

Still nothing. Got last one on 4/15
