This Reader Makes Her Own Granite Cleaner Using Just TWO Everyday Household Items
Destroy germs and save 💰!
Cleaning supplies, especially disinfectant sprays are a bit harder to find these days and the prices have gone up as well due to the high demand from consumers this past year because of Covid.
And, since we are using so many more cleaning products right now, it can be hard on the old wallet. One way to help save on the cost of supplies is to just simply make your own! Making your own cleaner can sound daunting and impossible but it’s actually super simple and most can be made by using products you probably already have on hand!
Check out how Hip reader, Natalia makes her own cleaning sprays using just a couple of products!
I make my own cleaners. My favorite is my granite cleaner. To make it, I mix half a cup of rubbing alcohol with a drop or two of dish soap and fill the rest of the bottle with water. The alcohol disinfects and the soap cuts through grease!
You can even add some citrus essential oils for bonus cleaning powers and a refreshing smell!
Thank you, Natalia, for sharing with us how to make our own granite cleaner! Granite is extremely trendy right now and many people aren’t sure how to clean it and end up buying costly cleaners they may not need. These tips and instructions will help save readers lots of $$! 🙌

I also use just water and an eCloth to clean my mirrors! – Natalia
Citric Acid will etch Granite or other natural stones, and that dish soap you have pictures does have citric acid in it. I would be careful to check labels first. Could be an expensive mistake.
70% alcohol can be sprayed and allowed to sit a few minutes to disinfect and then rinsed off with water/cloth.
Good to know. I actually use Dawn currently!
I use a mixture of water and alcohol in a spray bottle and it works great I don’t add any soap and it disinfects and shines my granite extremely well without added Ingredients. For those nervous about citric acid, just alcohol and water works perfect!
What ratio do you use? I’m interested 🙂
I literally eyeball it BUT if I had to say I would say maybe 1/2 cup alcohol to the rest water. You can play with it and find your right mix but I’ve always just winged it with no problems and always a shiny clean counter top🥰
A half-strength or even quarter-strength mixture of Mrs. Meyer concentrate works great on my granite. A bottle of concentrate last for YEARS at this strength.
I’ve used this for years. Works like a charm 🙂
If you haven’t heard of Force of Nature, it is incredible. I have used it to replace all of my cleaning supplies and it is 100 percent natural, works amazing, and is less than a dollar a bottle.
