"Follow You Monday" Publix and Target shopping!
Alright, so as most of you know, I was in Florida over the weekend and had a blast! My “Follow You Monday” giveaway winner was an awesome reader of mine named Sarah! She was a fantastic sport throughout the filming process (and it took hours and hours). Plus, she put up with me and that says a lot! 😉 Thanks, Sarah!
Today’s “Follow You Monday” two part video is mostly about Publix shopping. We also go to Super Target, but as you’ll see from the video, Publix takes up the majority of our time—which was fine with me! I’m in LOVE with Publix and I think you will be too after watching these videos!

I didn’t realize that Publix stacks their coupons, that’s terrific. We’ve shopped there when going to Disneyworld. I wish I would have known about the stacking and about their overage policy.

This is my favorite store!!! I love Publix and they have the best coupon policy and anytime a cashier questions the coupon the managers always allow it! My friends and family cannot believe the crazy amount of money I save every week!!! Thanks for the awesome view …love it!!!!!

I know, we can’t even get stores that double coupon on a regular basis…why all the good policies, programs, and stores on the east coast?!?
The grocery stores by me will not take any printed coupons at all, much less double them!

Collin, did you say that Sarah got a $10 coupon for the Kotex? Is there a Kotex rebate?
I am wondering about that too…. I have tons of receipts with Kotex on them….. (from all of the $2 off of 2 and $1 off of 1 coupons….)
Yes, there is a Unilever/Kimberly-Clark Rebate in that “Little Book of Big Buys” coupon book she showed. If you spend $30 on certain products by 2/13/10, you get a $10 Publix gift card. I found the rebate form online, so maybe you can search for it and find it too.
I did a goggle and found the $10 Publix Gift Card Rebate. Here’s some of the details:
*Offer good only on purchases made between 1/11/10 and 2/13/10. Products must be purchased in one shopping visit. Circle your purchases of any of the participating Kimberly-Clark and Unilever brands listed that total a minimum of $30.00 on your original Publix receipt.
Since there is NO PUBLIX in CT, I’m out of luck!
you could still get the gift card and either give it to someone as a gift who has a publix close by… or trade it with someone for coupons or a gift card you need 🙂 just suggestions!

I told my husband that if I could find a cheap flight from Boston to Tampa on a weekly basis, I would still save if I shopped at Publix. Suprisingly, he did not bite at that LOL

OMG! My 4 year old daughter who is a fan of “Follow you Monday” was watching tv, but was also hafl listening to the publix video… she overheard that you got $235 dollars worth of food for basically “free”.. She races over to the computer and said… did they steal it!!!??? I explained they just had a ton of awesome coupons! She understands now… it was so funny!
I noticed the Picturereka price also, some of mine came up 5.99 also….I told them the tag said 5.24 and they gave them all to me for 5.24. Never hurts to ask…..

I did not win free Dockers! 🙁 I tried, but we were having troubles getting on the site after we saw the commercial, so I had to wait and it was too late!
I loooooove Publix. and like you said they all have their own coupon policies… but I have yet to run into one that is not happy to take your coupons…. AND FYI most Publix accept expired publix coupons as long as they are in the same year….. most of their coupons are for items that regularly go BOGO so that means you can get BOGO two Publix coupons and two Manufacturers Coupons….. these can be big money makers!!!. this video was awesome!!!! you rock!
I love Publix too. I think that them taking expired Publix coupons depends on the Publix because I had one that was a week late and didn’t realize it and the computer beeped and the cashier (whom I always go through her line becuz she knows me) told me that can’t take it 🙁
My Publix does not allow expired coupons and also in the video Collin mentioned using multiple $5/$20…. In Florida and Tennessee where I’ve shopped Publix, I’ve never found a store that will allow multiples $$ off coupons. Actually, my Tennessee Publix stopped accepting all $$ off total purchase coupons from drug stores and other grocery stores.

As a newbie couponer, I was wondering if you or anyone could respond to this question: What stores besides Publix (we unfortunately don’t have publix here in PA) give overage? This would help a lot to know. Many times if I ask questions at the stores themselves I find that the employees don’t necessarily know and so I’m not sure how to find out. Are there stores besides Publix that give overage?

It REALLY depends. I’ve had most of the stores near me give overage. Target does as long as I pay all the tax, though I know that rule varies. CVS does. Kroger does. Walmart doesn’t, or at least gives you a hard time for it. Every store is different…
my Wal-mart does give overage, so it might just depend on the store!
it totally depends on the store. my cvs used to, now the new registers prompt them to adjust the coupon. kroger too, had just started to adjust my overage down just in 2010. i’ve gotten overage at our walmart before. cashiers sometimes really balk at overage. maybe they think it’s coming out of their paychecks, or they’re jealous, or they are afraid that they will get into trouble. it’s all about the register, and your cashier, and the individual store (even in a national chain store)
The Walmarts in my area give me overage too.

You three did well in Publix!!! I so envy you, guys. I wish we had publix here in North California. Anyways, this morning my DH and I went to Target to get the Monopoly and Scrabble game and the cashier did not allow me to use my coupons, saying that I should buy the board games. So I just bought the Quaker oats for $1.02 each (bought 5 and got $5 gc) and went to Guest services and called Corporate. Corporate called my Target and told them to accept my coupons as long as it scans. So after that, I was able to use my coupons. Woohoo!
I love Publix. Here in Alabama they also double mannie coupons up to 50c. For anyone new to Publix couponing, I highly recommend southernsavers.com – that’s the best site for getting your grocery list together.

i grew up in FL and moved to NC a few years ago. i can’t tell you how many times i have said i miss publix. i hate the way the stores up here limit your coups. but thanx for all the tips! collin, if you ever come to raleigh to shop, i’d love to shop with you! you seem like a really fun gal! i enjoy all your alerts and follow me monday videos!

I do have a question I have been wondering for awhile now and maybe someone can answer. You can use two coupons on a BOGO free? I tried this a few years ago at our commissary and the cashier told me only one coupon, and I never tried it again.
On the Publix coupon policy it states that you can. At other stores it all depends on the cashier.
you should be able to. think of a bogo (or any other sale) like a store coupon. and the manufacturer coupons should state that you may use one manny per item purchased. if the store had them on 1/2 off sale you would use 2 coupons right?
