LOL I was JUST calling my local TRU to make sure it would work. So corporate said Yeah, no problem but call your local store to make sure they don’t have different rules. I called my local store who just said No, I don’t think that will work…you are not allowed to use a promotion & a coupon together…the register just wouldn’t allow it. So, I say…So if the register takes it, its ok to use or you won’t even try it? She says Oh..we can try it but just be warned it probably won’t work. 🙂 So, we’ll see tomorrow I guess. Luckily I was headed out that way for Walgreens anyways!

    • Tifani

What did you say when you called? 🙂

  2. SaraJC

darn!! no toys r us in my area =[

  3. stella

i got 2 of the Princess and the Frog DVDs that were buy on get one free and used 2 coupons no issues at all.. as long as it scans shouldnt be an issue.. I hate it when they accuse of pretty much stealing..HELLO YOU GET PAID BY THE MFG!

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My local Toys R Us AND the 1800 number BOTH said I could only use 1 coupon per transaction. So these deals won’t work. Is there a coupon policy that the customer can view??????

    • Megan

Her first scenario only uses 1 coupon per transaction.. Did any of you go to the Egg Hunt thing last Saturday!? If so there was a $1 off TRU coupon in their goodie bags!

  5. sheila wright

tried to get the pony bigif coupons and says print limit reached, darn!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Did you get the playsaver insert from last weeks SS?? They are in there too!

  6. Angela

does anyone know if you can use manufacturer’s coupons at Khol’s? I saw some Playskool coupons I’d like to use and I know they have the item at Khol’s.

    • Melissa

I’ve used coupons at kohls, last xmas I got a sit and spin for $1 with sales and coupons.

    • Katie G

I tried to use the man. coupons at Kohls about a month ago and they wouldn’t accept them. They totally took the wind out of my sails. I was going to get the Leapfrog tag JR system for under 10 but had to settle for 14 without the man. coupons. I say it can’t hurt to try though. right?

    • Susan

I’ve asked my boss about using manufacturer’s coupons at my Kohl’s and they told me no. I would get some sweet deals there on some toys if they did.

    • jodi

I have used them at Kohls before but in my experience not very many cashiers know they take coupons. It is very rare they see any so they just don’t know that they do indeed take them.

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Curious to know if this will work. Our TRU is about 45 minutes away so I don’t know if it’s worth the trouble.

    • Rebecca

Our Toys R Us is about 30 min. away, but I think I’ll check it out… I attempted to get in on a similar promo Monday at Fred Meyer (Kroger) – they had a Buy 2 / Get 1 deal on these. I took 2 Hasbro BOGOs hoping to purchase 4 and just pay for one (Hasbro purchases 2 making the 3rd free and I pay for the 4th) NO GO. The cashier said it wasn’t working. I explained why I thought it should and she attempted to run it through again without luck. I notice the Hasbro coupon has language on it about not combining with another offer and I know of at least one individual whose coupon was turned down for that reason at Target (combining w/a Target coupon). All that to say I’m not sure it will work. My thoughts on this are that either A) the manufacturer does not wish to see their product devalued in the mind of the consumer by allowing folks to walk out with “free” merchandise OR B) This specific “STORE” promo is really a store/manufacturer negotiated deal in which the manufacturer has agreed to reimburse the store which makes stacking ineligible in this instance. Regardless, it is confusing for the shopper; I’d always believed the combo lingo on these coupons meant you couldn’t use two MANUFACTURER coupons (ex: a manf. cents-off coupon cannot be combined w/a BOGO) but since my Kroger experience and hearing of other individuals running into the same thing elsewhere, I’m thinking there’s more to it than that. I’ve also noticed more coupons lately that include the “do not combine with any offer” language. Anyone else noticing this as well?

      • Megan

I think it doesn’t work at Kroger/Fred Meyer because they don’t ring up an item at 0.00 when they have sales like these. The register automatically adjusts the price of each item down so nothing rings up as 0. At least this is how my store does it. So when I go in with buy one get one free they take the price off the register which has been adjusted down and I still pay something.

Scenario.. My Little Ponies $6 each. Bogo Sale with Bogo Coupon.. Rings up at $3 each. Hand over the coupon the cashier takes off $3 and I still pay $3 for both items. HTH

        • Melody

I did this deal at FM the last time it came around (B2G1) and it worked just fine. I paid $6 for three ponies after the store promo and coupon. The cashier did have to manually enter in the price of course and made sure to read the coupon thoroughly, but in the end it went through just fine. Just an FYI that it’s not all Kroger stores.

  8. Megan

Just called the Toys R Us in Puyallup, WA and they said they would not take the BOGO coupon because they can’t let us get them both for FREE. I explained that the coupon is like cash and I would be paying for 1 but with a coupon that they would be re embursed from the manufacturer, after being on hold for quite some time they said the Manager said no and to save the coupons for another time.
I did inform them of the many upset couponers that will be disappointed tomorrow and she just apologized to me, I in return apologized to her!
I will be going tomorrow to use the $5 off coupons though. She said they allow 3 per transaction.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

If anyone gets this to work tomorrow please let us know!! I have 3 kiddos and live 40 mins away from TRU but i would love to use all of my bogo coupons on these!!

  10. Felicia

I am def. going to try this deal out tomorrow. I will also be purchasing a few other “small” items to see if they maybe just push them through rather than just buying the two my lil ponies and paying nothing.

  11. Felicia

I am sure with everyone calling TRU they will be giving the heads up to the cashiers not to accept the coupons…. We should just try it out.

    • Jennifer

That’s what I was thinking. Now they’ll warn all their cashiers not to take the coupons. I wish these were at Babies R Us too! The one near me is super coupon friendly but the Toys R Us isn’t so much. Oh well, it’s definitely worth a try!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’ve always read it’s never a good idea to call stores ahead of time asking about using coupons. If the register takes the coupon why bother with explaining to what we’re doing? For those that live far from TRU, I’m sure many people will come post tomorrow if it worked for them or not, I would take that as a better indicator then calling a manager and over the phone trying to explain a situation that has not even taken place yet. JMO

  12. Felicia

I sure hope no one called the TRU in my area…

  13. Jenny

I totally doubt this will work at my TRU, but I may try it. I have used coupons at Kohl’s and it worked. I asked the manager first.

  14. Linda

The TRU I usually go to in Pleasant Hill, CA has let me use multiple coupons before. They had Leapster games BOGO and I was able to use 2 coupons without a problem. I always worry about thee BOGO/BOGO deals though. People just can’t wrap their brain around them both being free!

    • rachelle reyes

      Hi Linda,
I just went to the TRU in Pleasant Hill tonight to use a coupon for Elefun and Gator Golf. They told me tonight I could only use 1 coupon per transaction. If I wanted to buy both using both coupons, then I had to separate the transactions. I said that was strange since I bought Toy Story 1 and 2 last week with two coupons in 1 transaction as well as Baby Einstein DVDs on Sat with 2 coupons. A cashier said the computer will not take both coupons and that it just changed this week. Will try to do more investigating on this.

  15. Susan

Can you price match that any way at walmart’s?

    • Holly

No they will not price match it. All of the stores I am aware of do not price match BOGO’s, % off, doorbuster or limited time sales, gift card deals, etc. Hope that helps!

      • Tilla

as a former walmart employee…we didn’t match b1g1’s percents off, free items yada yada…

  16. Rebecca

This just in – Here’s what I gleaned from another blog site about Toys R Us official Corp. coupon policy. See the language related to accepting manf. coupons w/store promos. My guess as to why so many of us have had varying amounts of success &/or failure using manufacturer coupons w/store promos is that 1) some Toys R Us stores are unaware of this policy and/or 2) customers have success the first time but then the clerk “gets a talking to” and the NEXT time, the clerk is on alert to not accept these…..

My Message: Good morning! I was wondering if Toys R Us and Babies R Us have an official coupon policy? I’d like to find out if you accept manufacturer’s coupons, if manufacturer’s coupons and store coupons can be combined on the same item, if you have a special policy for printable coupons, and if you accept competitor’s coupons, like Target or Safeway. This information would great be appreciated. Thank you!

Their Response: Thank you for contacting the “R” Us Team regarding this matter. At this time we do accept manufacturer’s coupons as well as coupons from any of the stores in the “R” Us Family. We do not allow the use of dual coupons or mixing a coupon with a promotion or sale on an item. Multiple coupons may be divided up for separate transactions to ensure they are used properly. While it is not policy to accept competitor coupons, some stores may elect to do so at Managerial discretion. Please inquire further at your local store for more details.

    • Kim

I wonder if they mean mixing a Toys R Us coupon with a promotion or if that includes mixing a manufacturer’s coupon with a promotion. What would be their reason for not accepting a manufacturer’s coupon? That doesn’t make sense.

  17. Melissa

I’m definitely going tomorrow. My daughter is having a My little Pony birthday party in a couple weeks so these are a must have! My TRU has been pretty good in the past so i think as long as i don’t bring a lot of attention to the coupons and purchase a couple of other things so my total isn’t zero, i think i should be fine. I think that the computer will ring it up in our favor so if you don’t bring attention to it, it should be fine, or hope 🙂

    • Ann Dee

Ha, ha. I am the same way. As long I am discreet and buy a few other items…maybe the convertible and ferris wheel, I think they will let me do it. I have noticed at Wal-Mart and Target, too, that if I buy a few other little item, the cashier doesn’t freak out. LOL.

FYI: I slipped one $5 coupon along with two $10 coupons for Toy Story 1 and 2 just to see. They took it no problem and IT DIDN’T BEEP. So I pulled out another $5 coupon for the other movie. TRU let me use two $5 and two $10 coupons for Toy Story 1 and 2 last week for a total of 3.98 plus tax. I was shocked and ran home and printed more coupons from neighbors houses to get this deal for family members. Wish I would’ve known for Princess and the Frog and the buy one get one free sale. Those Princess and the Frog $10 coupons are expired. And my TRU was out of that movie Saturday morning. Darn.

      • Laura

Unfortunately, TRU won’t get reimbursed for both sets of coupons even if the register “allowed” it. I always try to be aware of the coupon policy at each store and not abuse it. A lot of stores don’t allow the use of coupons at all for this reason.

        • Dana

I don’t think it is ok to use these coupons since it is not the intended use but Toys R us will get reimbursed for it. They just send in the coupons, they do not need to show proof of the purchase. As long as they don’t receive more coupons than they had stock for they will be fine. But still we need to make sur that we are using them as they intended.

      • Ashley

Umm, 2 items, 4 coupons. If these were all MFR coupons, thanks for ruining for the couponers that use coupons correctly. If I am wrong on your usage, I apologize.

  18. Candice

Called in southern california and the manager said yes, no problem if it’s a manufacturer’s coupon. Corporate said the same. Sounds good!

    • Kari

      WAHOO!!!!!! I’ll be there at 9am 😀

  19. kristen

Last week at my TRU I was able to use 12 coupons on the B1G1 DVDs in one transaction. They said they did not care beacuse they were going to get the $$ back from the manf.

    • Ann Dee

Ya, me too! Got 12 Toy Story 1 and 2 for $3.98 plus tax per set. (Don’t worry. There were plenty left) But darn it if my TRU was out of The Princess and the Frog and those $10 coupons expired Saturday. Boo. Excited for the next DVD sale. I will be there when it opens with my coupons READY! I might even go the day before and buy a few and then return it the day of the sale and re buy them with coupons….My brain is scheming so I don’t miss the next sale.

SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW MANY COUPONS THEY LET ME USE TOMORROW.

      • Andrea

I’m just curious—what in the world would you do with 12 copies of the same movie?

        • kristen

          Andrea
Oh no I did not get dupilcates 🙂
I got toy story 1 and 2 and then baby einstein and some other cartoons, new moon and twilight, blind side

  20. Kathryn Overbeek

I just called my Toys R Us and they said that you may call with the coupon hand and read them the numbers off of the coupon and then they will scan the toys and ring up the transaction over the phone and then they will be able to tell you if their system will allow it before you make the trip out the your nearest Toys R Us location. Hope this helps someone out!!!

    • Andrea

Ummm,. or it will just alert them as to which coupons to tell the registers to refuse….

  21. Kari

BLAH … All you people keep calling corporate!!! Right now a fax is being sent to ALL TRU locations being told not to take the coupons!!!! BLAH 🙂 I’m still super excited to try though.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I called my TRU earlier & talked to a lady that said it should work. She was happy to give me her name so I am going to try it tomorrow.

  23. Janice

I’d like to try this. My son just got invited to a birthday party Saturday and this would be a perfect gift!

  24. Melissa

well think Ill try anyways. Maybe if I sneak it in with a few of those games everything will go smoothly!

    • Leah

Last week I asked the cashier if I could use both Toy Story coupons and she cheked w/ her manager who said if it scans, we’ll take it. Got both Toy Story 1 & 2 for $3.98 (don’t pay tax here)!! So at my TRU, if it scans, they will take the coupon w/o question, per the manager…this is a really sweet deal! Hope it works too!!

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

why can’t we combine Scenario #1 and Scenario #2 and get 4 toys for $9.99?

    • Kelly

      you can!

      • ginger

No you can’t you have to do it seperate otherwise your smaller priced items will be free…and you will end up paying full price for the bigger ones.

  26. Tilla

i’m just wondering why people call? it seems like you are doing something wrong when you call to ask permission. If folks weren’t calling Kmart about the 10 off 20, they never would have pulled it as it worked just fine the first 2 days until folks started calling. It’s a manufacturer coupon combined with a sale, shouldn’t need to ask permission or put the store on HIGH ALERT:)

    • amanda

does it matter that the coupon says can not be used in conjunction with any other sale or offer ( or something like that)

  27. Olivia Smith

I hope that this would work out– the cashier last time was not sure if she could do the coupons for the movies, and then her manager said no– because they cannot combine coupons with another offer. I went to Babies R Us and there wasn’t even a question!

  28. Ovl

Am I the only one who’s Toys R Us will NOT take printable coupons (unless they are from the toys r us site)?? I thought it was just my store but the manager said it’s corporate policy, they don’t get reimbursed for them and the supervisors get in trouble. But it surely seems most toys r us take them!!

    • Jen

I used many printed coupons at TRU today when I split the hasbro games into 5 different transactions. I had a coupon for every game so . . . 15 games and they took them all. Sounds like your TRU store needs some education!

    • Michelle

I’ve never had a problem with my TRU taking a printed coupon. They’ve never even said anything about the fact that I’ve printed them. Now my Walmart on the other hand, is another story!

    • Kathleen

I used 3 printable MQs at TRU today.

    • Courtney

My tRU in Ohio will not take printables either 🙁 they say cause of fraud/

    • Kristy

My toys r us takes printable coupons no problem Northern Ind.

    • Brooke

No my in VA said no to printable coupons to

  29. Tara

I hope it works for me tomorrow!

  30. Susan

I love the people at my Toys R Us. I might head over (15 min away) and pick these up for Adopt-A-Family or Toys for Tots later as my little boy won’t be needing them.

  31. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just remember please dont clear the shelves people, I cant get there til later this evening and I hate it when the shelf is cleared!

    • Amy

I cant stand people that clear shelves. My mom went to Rite Aid to get two of those Lysol soap dispensers and she was too late. The cashier told her that a lady came in and bought the whole shelf. (about 20 of them) She also bought all of the Air Wick’s too!

    • Sarah

I second that motion– I’m at work until 4:30 and it’s too far to go over lunch. I’m not sure I’m even going to bother.. by the time I can get there I doubt there will be any left.

    • Joe Money

That’s what I am thinking too… my Toysrus is 30min away and I cannot go there until late afternoon. So, I just pass this one and wish for everyones good luck with this deal!
      .

    • Andrea

Yes, I agree!! It’s for that reason I think that some stores limit the deals (ex. CVS, but I’ve heard of people having multiple CVS cards). I really wish people would not take more than their family can use.

  32. Tallymomma

    Please come back with stories!

  33. LaTonya

Thanks Collin….worked like a charm. I got my neice and a coworkers Easter goodies for .90.

  34. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

can you share the location you went to?? Did the computer have any problems taking the coupon?

  35. Dorothy

I just returned from TRU. The cashier was great! I purchased 2 Ferris Wheels, 2 convertible cars, and 8 ponies (I’m in CT and they had shelves over-flowing of all! I also purchased for 2 friends that couldn’t get out to the store). I did it all in 1 transaction and my total came to $15.88. (I think the cashier scanned one of the B1G1 pony coupons twice). I’m so happy by my experience, as well as my daughter will be on Easter morning!

    • Cheryl

Which store did you go to. I’m also in CT and would love some free ponies.

      • Dorothy

I went to the one in Waterbury.

        • Cheryl

Thank you. I can an least use the “my friend went to the waterbury store and they did it.” I am going to the West Hartford store. Hope it works.

          • Dorothy

            Good luck Cheryl!

  36. amanda

Roseville Michigan wouldn’t let me use the coupons! Bummer

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I did two different transactions at the Roseville TRU this morning. I went to the one on Gratiot! I had to do my transactions at the service counter and they manually entered the coupon. I also did this transaction at the TRU on John R in Madison Heights ( a little bit of a struggle – but they did it).

I paired the hasbro deals with the pony deals in Roseville also which probably made it a little easier 🙂

      • amanda

really? Using the b1g1 free? They wouldn’t let me do it!! How many did you purchase?

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, I was able to use (2) coupons at the Gratiot store and (1) at the Madison Heights location. I had to do it at the service desk first thing this morning.

  37. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m in Pa and after i tried to explain that the manifacturer would reinburse, the cashier said she didn’t think they would– first off does that ever happen? cashiers accepting coupons and then the store not getting paid for them???? She called a manager and the manager read through the coupon and told me i couldn’t use it because it says not to be used in conjunction with another offer and their sale was another offer. I didn’t fight any more than that, but i did try calling TRUS after in the parking lot but when I finally got through the menu it diconnected, so I took that as a sign that these b1g1 ponies were not to be. Congrats to those that did get it to work!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      good attitude!

  38. Natalie

    Got some!

  39. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This is not about TRU but Target. I went to Target and took my raincheck for 4 Monopoly games from last week ($7/Monopoly game) and my $5 coupons. I got 4 Monopoly games and noticed you can get free card games with each purchase. SO I thought why not try it. End of story, I got 4 board Monopoly games and 4 Hasbro card games for $8 (retail $63.32; savings 87%). Xmas/b-day gifts and Angel tree gifts. These kind of deals seldom happen to me!

  40. Danielle

I was able to get 4 single my little pony packages for free!! I used two coupons and the cash register accepted with no problems!! I do have a question about the hasbro rebates though…I got the gator golf and elefun in one transaction so I could get the gift card but I don’t see how I can get both rebates with one receipt?? Could I use the gift receipt on one?? Also the form says one rebate check per household????

    • Susan

I just put both Hungry Hungry Hippos and Gator Golf on one rebate form. The cashier said I should send them in seperately (he thought), but I read that one per household thing.
On the front, it has boxes to check and an area to write the final rebate amount. So I sent my rebate with two receipts, one rebate paper, in one envelope. Hoefully it works

    • Laurie

I sent my Christmas ones all together and I had no problem – got one check for the total amount I got 8 (different) games total in 4 different transactions/receipts. I plan to send them all in one envelope.

  41. Mrs. Jones

I hit up my TRU store this morning first thing and had no luck. Sad, and I walked away. They acted like I should buy them anyways. Haha. They don’t understand us couponers! I wish this would have worked. Makes me love stores like RiteAid, you know?

  42. Angela

Was there at 9:25 .. 25 min after the store opened. Not one left. I asked the cashier and he said that 3 women came in and wiped out the store they were waiting at the doors when it opened. I only wanted 2 of them. He said these 3 women each had at least 20 or more of them. I wish they would of put a limit on these. Not cool to take them all as soon as the store opens.

    • Anon

I hate people like that, that is so freakin rude! Come on people!

  43. Elizabeth

I just returned from my TRU where I got the last 2 single ponies! I couldn’t believe that they sold completely out in 1 hour! Thank goodness I didn’t wait any longer.

  44. Sarah

Got my ferris wheel and van for $8.87:) Had 2 $5 off coupons and a $3 birthday club coupon! They wouldn’t let me use the BOGO on the ponies. (jacksonville, NC)

  45. Stephanie

I guess my TRU has turned nazi about coupons. They wouldn’t let my friend use 2 $10 Qs for toy story 1 and 2(i was able to last week). Today I tried the My Little Pony deal and they wouldn’t let me use the B1G1 Qs. I also wanted to get 3 hasbro games (there;s an in store rebate and if you spend $20 you get a $5 gift card) but she said she’d have to ring them up separately to use the Qs and then of course, I wouldn’t get the gift card. My friend just did this deal over the weekend. Inconsistancy makes me angry.

  46. Melissa

I went this morning in Philly and i got 4 ponies, when she scanned the B1G1 coupons they beeped. she said that since the computer shows 2 free that i could only use 1 coupon for the two i was “paying” for. so basically i got 4 for the price of 1, not too bad! I might try another TRU later, these would make great favors for my daughters My Little Pony party.

  47. Alisha

I just got back from the West Valley, Utah Toys R’ Us store. I had 4 b1g1 coupons (printed 2 each from 2 different computers). They rang my entire purchase up and the coupons in one transaction with no problem…I didn’t even use filler. I got 8 My Little Pony figures for $1.50. Not too bad, I must say!

  48. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m writing from my phone in the parking lot of TRU! Hahaha, just did 5 transactions, got 11 games, 4 plush toys, and 8 My Little Ponies, cashier let me roll the gc everytime! After rebate everything comes out to about $3-$4 a piece. FYI- if you didn’t go yet, the gc is based on the PRE-SALE price, not the sale price!!!!, I tried it on my first transaction and it worked so I based the rest of my purchases on that!!! Awesome deal!! Good luck everyone!

    • Kristy

Hey is your gift cards only good on games or can it be used on anything in the store thanks

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It can be used on anything, it’s just a TRU gift card.
