soo like how early is early like if they open at 10 would you get there at like 9:45 or 9:30? or earlier than that? i mean i want free stuf, but not to stand in line for like 3 hours… with kids….

    • Sarah

I called my local store and they said 8:00. note: they were pretty rude too, so I might skip it 🙁

  3. Tami

My store opens at 10am but the mall opens at 8 am so I would definately get there about then 🙂

  4. Ty

I am definitely going. Taking both kids, the rules say 13 and older. Both mine fit the bill, taking the rules with me just in case! 🙂

  5. mamabear

    whoa! holy guacamole’!!!
i asked my mom (who was in the mall) to run by there and scoop the deal out for me and she said they had ppl asking if they could camp out in front of the store!!!!! lol- Obviously the mall will not allow this, but at least i know not to waste my time waiting in line! She said the manager said to come by anyways as they will be passin out freebies all day long in honor of the holiday or whatever… sooooo just a heads up it may be crowded at your pac sun…

  6. Laury Kossoff

I called my local store and they said the customers are saying that they will get there at 7am.

  7. toni r

I’m getting there at 7am and bringing my 13-yr. old daughter w/me! Definitely bringing a couple chairs and some books. If we get the trip to Australia, it will totally be worth it! Even if we don’t it will be a great mother/daughter bonding time 🙂

  8. Angie

Can’t wait to hear what happened and if you guys got your gift bags!

Okay, need to read the print carefully…..’stuffed with A piece of major swag’… That’s what I got 1 item, in a big shopping bag, but 1 item…. a music download card for 5 songs… Cause if you read PAC SUN face book pg, it does sound like your going to get a bag stuffed with goodies…. Lesson learned….read, read, read….I got there 20 minutes before they opened (store is in MASS) and was #22 in line. And when I left they still had about 10 more ‘bags’ to give out, but not enough customers…I walked over to the food court and told a tableful of teens eating bagels to go over and get some free stuff….. anywho, thought I’d give an update… my first time I’ve commented, and thought folks should know they are not getting a BAGFULL of goodies….when I left no one had won any trip, don’t know if EACH store had a trip to give away, doubt it….

Thanks Colin for all the hard work you do on your site, it is much appreciated.

I hear you! My DD talk me into going, based on the facebook page we thought we were getting bags of stuff with the possibility of a big prize like a trip. We sat outside the store for 1.5 hours and were #21 & 22. I got a hat even my husband said is too ugly to wear and my DD got a nylon bag. By 10 they had more than 50 people in line. I think the people that were past 50 got a coupon. I would have rather had that than a hat. I expected to get a least a coupon or something else not just one item. Oh well, DD and I had quality time together.

I was so disappointed, not at all what I thought it would be. I got to my store at 8.30 am, the store didnt open till 8, everybody waiting in line was disappointed. They gave out only one item per person and it was really lame stuff, one kid got socks 🙁 I stood in line for 2 hours for a 7 dollar nylon satchel. I thought there would be way more than that.

  11. Tabatha

store didnt open till 10*. not 8, lol my bad

  12. melissa c.

We went this morning only got one thing in our bag….bummer! but they had goo specials going on.

  13. Jenna

I got headphones for my freebie. I also got there about 10 min before the store opened and I was #17 in line. I thought the headphones were really cool. The people there were very nice and excited to hand out the goodies. Any freebie big or small makes my day! Thanks Colin!

Lucky ducky. On the page it says the value of those is $60. I was hoping for those.

Feel very dumb I woke up at 5 am so I could drive to a mall with a Pacsun in it. I got there around 5:45am waited till 6:36 for the mall to open and then waited in front of the store because the store opend at 9:45. I got a XL Teal T-shirt that said RVCA in hot pink it was not roxy, hurley, or anything else I have ever even seen sold at Pacsun it had to be a shirt made for charity fundraising. I was 1st in line and that is all I got. I wouldn’t of even bought an XL or that kind of shirt. I facebooked about how I was 1st in line to get a bag of stuff and all I got was a stupid t-shirt!

  15. Shannon M

We got there right at 1o, with 6 kids I wasn’t going to wait in line or anything. I got a store bag with a roxy trucker hat in it. It’s a freebie and I didn’t have to wait 4-6 weeks to get so, YAY!! Also, I was #31 when I walked through the door.

  16. Lisa

Ok, it was fun if not very productive. Nobody was there but me! The employees were walking the mall trying to get people to come. Got a few lame tote bags in ours. But they were sweet, and were giving away snacks, so it was fun.

  17. Pam

We got to our store about 9:15. We were told by the people in front of us that we were in the top 50 but very close to the end. A few people ended up cutting after we were in line but we were lucky. My daugther was #48 and I was #49. She got a T shirt and I got the hat. We thought that gifts were nice enough for not waiting more than 45 mins or so. Most of the people in our store won the Ts and hats. I heard one person say they won the flip flops. After #50 they handed out free downloads to songs on their website. Someone threw it on the ground. We picked it up and then my daughter gave it to a nice girl who came by after they had already passed out the cards. I posted a pic of the prizes on my blog (I linked directly to the post) if anyone would like to see what they looked like. Just click my name.

  18. Pam

Forgot to mention.. All clearance items were 50% off the lowest price. She got a lot of great summer shirts for $5 and less.

  19. sarah

so glad i didnt go! i needed sleep this am and it looks like i didnt miss out on much

  20. Kanda

We got a bag and socks! We were happy with free! And the store associates were super nice! Thanks Collin it was worth the trip since we were on the way to our lowes store for the free build it and grow clinic! I was so happy this morning!

  21. Carolyn Gallman

My youngest son & I met up with 3 friends (they will probably post later), had breakfast, drove 30 minutes to the mall. We were #9, 10,11, 12 & 13. We made a lap around the mall window shopping, then sat around talking. Got our bag of schwag….:( Really? I got a hat, son got 5 free music downloads, 2 friends got a pair of socks each and the other scored the headphones. Not to sound ungrateful, but I could’ve slept in late!!! Lesson learned.

  22. cesar

got an ugly fox hat that i dont even like!!!the commercial makes it sound like your getting a whole new wardrobe.i had stood in line to be the 1st one there for 3 hours and for what!!!

  23. Jane

Well i woke up at the crack of dawn (6:30am) to drive to the nearest PacSun which is 30 minutes away from my house one way for one pair of lousy mens socks. I dont know what their idea of “a bag FULL of GOODIES” is but its definatley not a pair of socks…And the clearance items didnt interest me either. No goodies + no good deals = NOT A HAPPY CAMPER (to put it nicely)

    • Jamie

yea very misleading ad! And the fine print said each one of the first 50 to enter the store will recieve a prize but come on when you are already excited about going because of the commercial you see prize and think a bag full of stuff ha ha. Errrrrrrrrrr

      • Amanda

very misleading…”a piece of monster schwag”…why didnt i get a bag of goodies???

come on people, a piece is a piece, NOT a bag full!

  24. Becky

Thanks! I won the headphones and husband won a Fox hat ! Afterwards went to Lowes for the kids to build the car craft. What a great morning out !!!

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

you people are so ungrateful.. right on the facebook page yesterday it said the items that you will get ONE of them, not a whole bag full. No one forced you to go and wait…

  26. Ty

We had fun. My daughter and I got there at 8:30 the store opened at 10. We were number 14 and 15. They had donuts out there and a cute kid from the store out there for entertainment. The girls at the front of the line had been there since 6 a.m. My daughter got a T-Shirt and I got flip flops. We had a nice morning together. I will do again next year if they do it.

  27. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i was in line a little before 730 for the store to open at 10 and was 24th before 10 there were more than 50 people waiting. some prizes were kind of lame yes but i mean its free stuff guys no purchase nessecary stuff lol i lucked out and took home some headphones that were like 125 bucks on the online store. plus scored jeans for 5 bucks.

  28. Lynn N.

My sister and I got there at 8:30 to wait for the store to open at 10 and we were numbers 24 and 25 in line. By 9:45 several people had cut (they had a family member “hold” their spots in line and they came out to the mall and took their spots about 15 minutes before the store opened) but luckily we were still in the top 50. The store associates were really nice. They handed out cold water bottles (it was a strip mall so we had to wait outside in 97 degree sun) and they passed out coupons donated by local businesses. We got coupons for 3 free chicken strips at Chick Fil A. I ended up getting a t-shirt and my sister got a tote bag. The shirt is too big for me but it’s very soft so I’ll wear it to sleep. We were under the impression that we were going to get a bag full of goodies, and we definitely wouldn’t have gone if we had known it was only one thing, but that was completely our fault for not reading carefully.
So, thanks for the t-shirt, Pacsun! And thanks to Collin for giving us the heads up!

  29. Mia

Very misleading giveaway and a huge waste of time. We went to the Pac Sun store in the Paradise Valley Mall (Phoenix, AZ.). Two of the employees (one brunette and one red head) showed up and were waiting for the store manager to open the store. Very rude, they refused to acknowledge our customer questions or even our presence. Poor customer realtions skills; neither one of them could be bothered to attend to our needs because they were too busy flirting with the guy across the hall who worked at Zumiez. I had my credit card ready to go, but I decided it wasn’t worth my time because of the way that the whole thing was handled. I spent my money elsewhere!

  30. Sarah

1st customer in line arrived @ 6:00 a.m. I got there @ 8:00, and I was # 43 in line. I got a nylon tote bag that I’m happy to use as a reusable bag @ Target, etc. Was a tad disappointed in my “swag”, but I made a new coupon friend while waiting in line who also is a hip2save gal 🙂 …….(HI TERA!!!!) Friends are priceless, so I’m happy I went and scored a new hip2save friend! Now I can go to all the local promos w/ my new friend and have company in line, and be able to hold each other’s spots (because we’re coffee drinkers) when we need to go potty! Lol!
    Thanx Collin 🙂
