NEW UPDATE: Sorry, all! It appears this awesome candy deal is no longer working.

So I am on cloud 9… I just got back from Rite Aid a little while ago and well, I LOVE Rite Aid… seriously! I was able to score all 12 packages of candy pictured above for FREE! Plus, I left with EVEN more +Up Rewards then I began with!

Here’s what my transaction looked like…
Purchased 2 bags of Dum-Dum Pops 11.4 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Blow Pops 11.4 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Skittles 14 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Starburst 14 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Jolly Ranchers 14 oz  2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Sour Patch Kids 14 oz 2/$5
Total = $30
Used the $5/$25 coupon found here or here
Total now– $25 (+ Tax)
Paid with Rite Aid gift card and +Up Rewards earned from last week
Got back $30 worth of +Up Rewards ( 6 $1 +Up Rewards and 12 $2 +Up Rewards)
Final cost FREE + a money-maker!

So as you can see from the picture above, even more candy products qualify for the $1 + Up Reward and $2 Mystery +Up Reward! Here is the full list of items I know work…

* Skittles 14 oz
* Swedish Fish 14 oz
* Cow Tail Minis 10 oz
* Starburst 14oz
* Jolly Ranchers 14oz
* Caramel Cremes 12 oz
* Sour Patch Kids 14 oz
* Jolly Rancher Pops 10 oz
* Charms Blow Pops 10.4 oz or 11.4 oz
* Dum Dum Pops 11.4 oz
* Lifesaver Mints Wint o Green 13 oz

Here’s a recap on this deal for all of you that may have missed my post earlier…

Buy 2 candies listed above (make sure to buy the exact ones listed) on sale this week 2/$5
Pay $5 (Or less if you have any coupons for the above candies)
Get a $1 +Up Reward for buying 2
Plus, get 2 $2 Mystery +Up Rewards
Final cost 2 bags for FREE!

*It appears that the $1 +Up reward for buying 2 is limited to 6 and the Mystery Rewards don’t appear to have a limit (?). I would suggest buying 12 mix and match bags of candy from the above list for a total of $30, then use the $5/$25 coupon found here or here. You’ll end up paying $25 + tax out of pocket and then get back $30 in +Up Rewards to turn this into a money-maker!

Woohoo- I am totally going to do this!! Thanks for the update Collin!

    • cbear1415

On redplum.com there is a $1/2 starburst or skittles which would make a really good deal!!!

      • Heather

Isnt this Q for fun size, which would be the halloween style candy packs?

        • Erin

Yes. It won’t work for this.

      • Meridith

Nope I tried it. It beeps. I got 6 bags, 15 dollars back on UP.

  2. KP

I have 4 UPS from the Nivea from earlier this week. Can I use all 4 of them to pay in one transaction or can you only use one per transaction? They would be great to use on some candy! Thank you so much for posting this deal!

    • Lighthousefam

Yup! The Up rewards are just like ECB’s.

      • KP

        Awesome! Thank you!

    • Wendy Douglas

I bought two more Nivea lip, and used the up rewards towards the candy.

  3. Stacey

I bought 2 packs of Red Vines yesterday and got the mystery (2)$2 +UP!!

  4. Libby's Library News

Gee – I wish that I had a Rite Aid nearby!

    • steph317

mee too! no rite aid for like 100 miles!

      • Paulette

Me too 🙁 no rite aid here 🙁

        • Erin K

We have Riteaid / CVS right next to eachother but no Wags for 50 miles, I get sad on those deals but happy on the Riteaid / CVS ones.

  5. Sommer

Thanks so much – going to try this tomorrow – will let you know how I do.

  6. Tishab0407

    WAHOO!! I’m SO excited!!!

  7. Mary

Does anyone know if this is working for separate transactions???

    • Loretta

Yes, it works for separate transactions. I got 12 bags, bought 12 more, and then 4 (last 4 in the store). Three separate transactions … NO PROBLEM!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

No wonder there was 0 candy left.

        • Wilhelmenia

Oh, STOP IT!! I get tired of everyone whining about the shelves being empty!!
You have the same opportunities as the rest.

          • where's the deal

No not all have the same opportunities – obviously. If one person comes in an clears the shelf, tell me how the 15 others have the ‘same opportunity’. The seven sins – one is gluttony.

          • julie

Stop about shelf clearing? I hate when the unethical deal hunt. Makes it hell for the rest of us who are CONSIDERATE TO OTHERS,

        • Alea

I agree about clearing shelves out, my Rite Aid had a TON left, so my purchase left plenty for others to get some. The only thing they were out of were Sour Patch Kids and some other candy that I wasn’t sure what was there – I just knew the Sour Patch because I was hoping to get some for my husband.

  8. Bobby

I really hope this deal is still going tomorrow and hopefully it’s not a glitch!

  9. dana

can you stack the “up” rewards when renewing them? usually I don’t like the rewards where you have to return to get them – but I might try this one=)

    • Amber S.

I did three transactions and got 10 bags each transaction. I rolled the +Up Rewards each time and only spent $1.56 out of pocket for 30 bags of candy AND got $25 in +Up Rewards for next time! This is a great deal!

      • cyndy

can u pls tell me whch 10 candies u bought? and did u hv UP rewards to start with?

  10. Kristie

Going to try tomorrow when I go to pick up my free 8×10.

  11. Ann

Just trying to figure out why to get 12 bags for $30.00 instead of 10 bags for $25.00 and still being able to use the $5.00/$25.00 Q.

    • Pam

Yes, I would like to know as well…….

    • Francoise

Because the 5 extra bages are free with the $1 up you get on 2… the one that has a limit of 6.

      • Collin

Yes, that’s why I did it. I also wanted to test out that amount for you all to make sure it worked correctly and it did! 😀

        • Michelle L.

          Collin,

I’m still not understanding this. Please forgive me.
Either way the candy is free and you make $5 so why would you spend $5 past the $25 to use the coupon?

          Thanks for your patience.

          • Collin

            Hi Michelle,

I didn’t spend any money out of pocket because I paid with +Up Rewards I earned last week and a Rite Aid gift card, so I just decided to purchase what (I think) is the limit for this deal. I also was curious to see if the deal would work and all the +Up Rewards would print. I hope that makes sense! 🙂

          • Mary Beth

I’m not sure if this is why Collin did it this way, but there were coupons in the 8/8 SS for $4/6 bags of Swedish Fish & (I think) Sour Patch Kids. So if you bought 12 bags, which would be $30, then you could use the $5/$25, two of the $4/6 coupons (if you had them) and have an OOP of $17+tax, and get back $30 (?) in UPs. And, according to a note on her scenario, there may be a limit of 6 to the $1 UP rewards, so why not do it all in one transaction, get them all, then roll them. Don’t know this is the right answer — because that puzzled me too — but it seemed logical.

          • Michelle L.

            Thanks for the response Collin.

So there’s really no benefit of purchasing 12 bags over 10 bags other than to test the limit of the $1/2 UP. Right?

          • Collin

Correct! 🙂 Sorry for the confusion.

        • tilla ham

just so everyone knows, there is no limit on either the 2 or the 1 dollar ups

          • Michelle L.

            Tilla Ham,

Do you also know if the $2 UP lasts all week?

          • tilla ham

i have heard rumors that it lasts until Saturday, but that is just speculation from slick deals readers, but usually they are hard core and in the know:)

          • tilla ham

okay well i have just heard that this is a glitch and should be “fixed” by tomorrow, so if you want candy, run

          • Michelle L.

Boo-hoo….my stores are closed and tomorrow afternoon is the soonest I can get there. Bummer!!

  12. Olivia

I sooo wish we had a Rite Aid here. Looks like you got some amazing deals!

  13. Krista Smith

I just went and bought 6 bags… worked fine 🙂

  14. BETH

I just got home and did the same thing and had to tell you !!!! Isn’t it soooooo fun!!!

  15. Mommy Octopus

    Werther’s works too!!!!

I’ve done 8 pairs on the $1 Up reward so I don’t think the limit is 6, or at least there wasn’t in Danielsville.

  16. Lighthousefam

I’m really hoping this works tomorrow morning! I might have to stop by before going to a coupon meeting.

  17. sartman

Does anyone know if Northern Pittsburgh has the rite-aide long ad? I don’t see the candy deal!

    • skye

sartman, I am in Cranberry Twp/Mars area and it worked for me. The candy at my store wasn’t marked as being on sale (it said 3.19 ea) but I had the cashier price check it and it rang up 2/$5 so I took my chances and did it and I got every single +Up reward detailed here.

      • Adrianne

I’m in Murrysville area and it did not work for me..but I am glad it worked for you ladies!!

    • Allison

The candy here was marked full price, so the cashier checked the prices for me before I bought them.

  18. Janice Greene

I just purchased 10 bags. I paid $16.50 oop (used a gift card from the Oral Care bonus that I didn’t even try to qualify for) and got $25 in UP rewards. I teach middle school students and they are highly motivated by candy!

    • Alexis

I’m a teacher too and that was totally my thought when I saw this deal! My students are going to be thrilled! 🙂

  19. Jill

I read on another blog that the mystery reward will only be printing til today???

    • Rose

oh, that will be a bummer. I can’t go til tomorrow morning. Either way, I do need the candy and planned on getting 2 bags of starburst as filler anyway.

  20. Michele

I tried to do this deal tonight. Luckily I only bought two bags of Jolly Ranchers. I paid $5 and only got the $1 UP reward! I was not happy so I called corporate and they had no idea what a mystery UP reward is!! So, I’m pretty bummed, but happy for the rest of you!

By the way, I’m in PA.

    • ej

I am in Pa too and had the same experience, I had only written down the sizes for 2 kinds of candy and couldn’t find those exact kinds/sizes, so i bought some werther’s and some toostie pops and it didn’t work. Don’t know if I screwed up or if my town just isn’t doing it.

How do i tell if i have a LONG ad or a SHORT ad??? and which one would let me in on this free candy???

      • Meredith

Short ad is 8 pages, I think the long ad is 12. This deal works for both!

        • michelle

I am in PA and did the 10 bag deal (got skittles, blowpops. werthers, dum dums) and it worked fine for me!

          • Kelly B

About where in PA, I’m in the Philly area (just north actually) and was wondering if it’s working here…

      • tilla ham

from what i discovered in my trial and error, you have to purchase 2 of the exact same kind in order for it to work. even when i mixed my starburst flavors it didn’t work.

    • Kara

I am in PA near Harrisburg and it worked for me. I was there two minutes before closing. I bought 10 bags and got 5 $1 UPS and 10 $2 UPS that said Club Choc. on them. I used a 5/25 and two $1/2 coupons. So I made $7 dollars:) Make sure you buy the correct size. They should be marked 2/$5 in the candy aisle. I hope it works for you.

      • Erin K

I live in Northern California Sacramento area… I purchased 1/ Werthers 1/ Cow Tails 1/Tootsie Roll Pops 1/Blow Pops 1/ Caramel Creams and 1/Air Heads and got all the $2’s and $1’s Collin listed above. We have the short ad here.

  21. Laurie M.

WOOHOO! I ran out of the house and drove straight to Rite Aid. Scored 12 bags of candy and used the $5/$25, some balance I had on a gift card and some +UP Rewards from another deal. Paid $7.50 in cash and ended up with $30 in +UP Rewards!!!! And, just to repeat, I got 12 bags of candy while making over $20!!!!

    • Christa K.

Lol, I’m glad I’m not the only one who immediately ran to the store upon reading this! 😉

      • Mommy Octopus

Nope you’re not the only one 🙂 I drug my 3 kids out!

        • Tiana

I grabbed the kids and headed out before we got dinner on the table! Now it is candy before dinner. Lucky kids!! And I saw a lady in line doing the same thing!

          • Christa K.

LOL, I doubt the kids were complaining! Hmm, let’s see, dinner or CANDY?! 😉

          • Tiffany

I took my 4 kids, ages 9,6,3, and 11months out as soon as I read this. It was one of the first coupon deals they have ever been super excited about!

          • Amy

lol me too! I told the kids to grav there shoes, we gotta go! My 2 yr old latched on to a bag of jolly rancher suckers….I think he might have to sleep with the bag tonight! We got 12 bags for free! The cashier then went and grabbed 12 bags for herself. I dont thnk there will be any left tomorrow…..anyone try to see if the limit is higher than 6? Just curious

    • tilla ham

my friend told me about this deal last night at 930, rite aid closes at 10 but i sure was up there by 935 getting my first batch lol i was completely hyped about it!

  22. Christa K.

I also got Tootsie Rolls, Tootsie Roll Pops, and Werther’s Original which worked with the deal. (Seems to be any in that candy section on the 2/$5 sale)

    • Rose

what size bags are the tootsie rolls? I just saw in my other sons folder his class donation is tootsie rolls for the trick or treat trail….

      • Christa K.

Tootsie Roll “Midgees” (12 oz.), Tootsie Roll Pops (10.25 oz), Werther’s Original (10 oz.). They were all included in the 2/$5 sale (pg. 11 in the ad) and were all together in the same section of the regular (not Halloween) candy aisle.

    • Francoise

CHRISTA — Did you still get 1 $1 UP and 2 $2 Up rewards (total of $5) for each 2 bags you bought of werther’s tootsie rolls, etc? Just clarifying because I’d prefer these. Thanks

      • Christa K.

Yep, for each 2/$5 candy I bought (Werther’s, Tootsies included), one $1+up and two $2+ups printed out, giving me $5 back and making them free.

        • Rose

          Thanks! Hope its working tomorrow!!

  23. cyndy

i dont have any UP to begin with…can i buy 2 and pay…and den use dose UP and do another transaction….pls help…m a newbie ..:)

    • Alea

You can do exactly as Collin did – pay $20 out of pocket and earn back $30 in ECBs.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

to get you stared, buy some of the single airheads at $.20 each and get 2x $2 mystery Ups for each one. (see my post below down the page) That will be low cost to ge tyou started. I do not know if they will roll into the candy deal after that or not, but you could use them to buy other stuff like the toothpaste at $2.69 -$1 MQ 9/26 P &G and then roll those into the candy deal. HTH

      • Kathryn

These all roll into each other. Those airheads might be a good way to see if this deal is working tomorrow without spending much out of pocket.

    • Amy

I didnt have any to start with so I bought 2 first then used that 5 UP rewards to purchase 2 more until I purchased 12 bags, I paid 5 out of pocket but i still have 5 Up rewards to use on something else

  24. skye

sartman, I am in Cranberry Twp/Mars area and it worked for me. The candy at my store wasn’t marked as being on sale (it said 3.19 ea) but I had the cashier price check it and it rang up 2/$5 so I took my chances and did it and I got every single +Up reward detailed here.

I think the point of buying 12 bags was because Colin thought the limit on the $1 +Up rewards was 6 so why “waste” that one by not getting it when it is free in the end anyhow? You are paying $5 for every 2 bags of candy and getting $5 back….

  25. SwagSaver

    You should have used these!!!

$2/3 Trident, Dentyne or Stride, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch or Halls, exp. 10-31 (SS 8/8/10)
$4/6 Trident, Dentyne or Stride, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch or Halls, exp. 10-31 (SS 8/8/10)

    Thanks for the post!

    • Jessica

Used these coupons to buy a total of 10 bags of swedish fish and sour patch kids…ended up making about $10 on the deal…I was so excited about it…I should have gotten some more without the coupons that were individaully wrapped for Halloween!

  26. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Cool, I did the deal, too, and it worked like a charm. Now I have lots of candy UP+ rewards to spend. My question is this: Can I roll those rewards into another candy transaction tomorrow and still have it give me my UP+ rewards?

  27. sartman

thanks skye, I near there also.. Ill have to check it out!!

  28. Samantha

If someone can clarify whether the mystery +up will be printing tomorrow ( see previous posts), I would appreciate it. I can’t get back out tonight but was going to try to go Fri am. Thanks!

    • Rose

Guess we won’t know til tomorrow, huh? I can’t make it out either, but I still plan on getting the candy. If the mystery UPs print, then its a bonus. I’m

  29. Deanna T.

Mine wasn’t marked on sale either but rang up on sale. I got 3 bags of Swedish Fish, 4 bags of Starburst, and 5 bags of the Jolly Rancher Pops. I needed to buy some candy to give to the school for Fall Festival coming up and this was perfect (except for the Swedish Fish and 1/2 the Starburst which is for the house stash…lol).

Then I was fortuante enough to find a good deal on the generic version of Prevaid OTC – the Rite Aid brand had a coupon in the sales paper for $6.00 off (making it $11.99 – orig. $17.99) – well there were a couple of “double” boxes where instead of just the 28 it was 50% more free. I had one of the cashiers check since the ones with the 50% free were mixed in with the regular 42 ct. boxes (that were $22.99) and sure enough they were on sale for the same price as the 28 ct. boxes and the coupon did fine with it as well. If I hadn’t seen the post for the candy I wouldn’t have seen the medicine sale and missed out on that too. The cashier was talking about people couponing and I made sure to tell him about hip2save and how valuable it has become to me 🙂

  30. Paola

Does anyone know if this deal works in the NY area?

    • Christa K.

I’m in upstate NY (Finger Lakes area). It worked for me this evening… but now it’s after 9pm EST so they’re closed for tonight in my area. So I’ll be anxious to see if it’s working for people tomorrow too, might be worth another trip!

  31. Lisa

RAN to Riteaid and Got this deal!! Thanks so much!! I wish we knew if the deal was ending today? Any clue anyone? 🙂

  32. Kathryn

Any idea if this sale will be going tomorrow?!?!?!? Because I got there tonight, but wasn’t sure what sizes so bought two bags and it worked! I planned on going back after work, but don’t know if it will work 🙁

  33. Wendy Douglas

As soon as I got home from work today, I saw your post about the candy. I ran out to both Rite Aid stores in Ogden, Ut. and ended up with 28 bags of candy. Besides the ones you had listed, I was able to get Tootsie Rolls, Cow Tails, and AirHeads. I used some of the up rewards on the second transaction that I did. After all was said and done, I figure Rite Aid paid me a couple of dollars for all the candy I bought. And I didn’t even use any coupons. SWEET DEAL. I laughed all the way home!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Janna

That is quite the deal…I want to come to your house on Halloween Night 🙂 Quite the good candy haul Collin!

  35. Kristen Anne

Anyone know if this works in PA in the Philadelphia area?

    • Kelly B

I’m in the Philly area too, wondering the same thing….

    • michelle

Im in the philly area…montgomery county pa and it worked fine!!

      • Kristen Anne

        Great, thanks Michelle!~ 🙂

      • Kelly B

Awesome, now we just have to hope they’re still printing tomorrow 🙂

    • Laurie M.

Worked for me in Delaware County.

    • Wendy B.

worked for me in Berks County area too 🙂

      • Kristen Anne

Yay worked for me…got 10 bags and the cashier was literally clapping when she saw the rewards print out (after she originally had said to me..you should get the halloween ones why are you getting these?!) 🙂

  36. Noelle P

I tried to do this in Utah and NO up rewards printed. They said they could just give me the $1.00 ones that were supposed to print but since there was no advertising on the $2 “mystery” rewards, I just had to return everything. Bummer!

    • Katyln

      Noelle,
What city are you in? Wendy went to the store in Ogden and it worked for her. I’m in the Layton area and was about to head out the door until I read your post.

      • Noelle P

I went to the Bountiful store.

  37. Debbie

I so wish we had a Rite Aid by me 🙁
    Great Deal!

  38. Susan

Once again, I sooo wish we had a Rite Aid here!!

  39. kathleen

Is anyone from the Charlotte, NC area that did this? We have a Rite Aid that is about 20 minutes away that is open late, but don’t want to drive if it’s not printing in NC.

    • Mechelle

I would try it with just the airheads like the young lady said above to see if it worked. If it does then you have a good chance that the rewards will work for the bagged candy.

      • Mary Beth

In a further post, the same person said that it may not have been the individual Airheads, but the Red Vines licorice that she purchased that gave the rewards. And on another site I did see a post that the 24 oz. Red Vines are giving a $2 UP. so if the Airheads don’t do it, don’t just assume that it’s no longer working.

  40. Nancy

Just got back from my Rite Aid. It worked! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

  41. Crunchy Deal

This deal is, in fact, SWEET!!!! Did someone say it ends today? I hope not . . . I need some FREE candy! 😀 Thanks!

  42. Kathryn

Someone should post back at 8:30 am, after making an 8:00 am run and let everyone know 🙂 hahahah hopefully someone will in the morning

  43. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Does anyone know if riteaid is getting rid of the video value 5/25 coupon. I went to go watch the video so I could do the cand deal and it is not showing up.

    • Josie

Rite Aid has discontinued the $5/25 coupon until futher notice. I have confirmed by called customer service this morning-due to some readers of mine asking me about them. Sadly-I have no idea what this means.

    • terri

I just logged in and there’s a whole new month of videos to watch, so it’s still working.

      • Josie

It’s only the $5/25 coupons that are misplaced. The rest of this months are there

  44. Josie

Collin, didn’t know if you knew but Rite Aid has taken the $5/25 coupons off the Ad Perk website. Apparently, they will be gone until “futher notice” : (

    • Amanda

      That’s strange…

  45. Ella

I did this in Seattle and it worked. It was initially a lot of drama because the cashier somehow rung it up that I paid for it (when I didn’t), so they had to refund everything and start over again. The awesome part is that the manager gave me both set of UP Rewards. So I spent $21 and got $45 worth of rewards! Yahoo! BTW: I only bought ten bags. She had to fake the purchase to get it as close to the $5/25 as possible since she couldn’t use the coupon twice, otherwise I would have made $50. Since I used the same reward card, I wonder if there is really a limit? Since the rewards printed out twice, even if one of receipts ended up being “refunded.”

    • Alea

VERY nice!!! Enjoy your bonus rewards – perfect time of the year for them 🙂

  46. Tina

dangit… I was out running errands and didnt see these posts – cant believe I missed out on this deal!!! I hope it is working tomorrow.

  47. maria lopez

does anyone know if this is working in California?

    • sarah r

working in Antelope, CA (sacramento area)

      • maria lopez

Thanks I went tonight did one transaction with only two and it printed so I went back and got more, this is in corona/riverside…. thanks again.

    • Josie

I bought one bag of the Gimbals Cherry Lovers candy and got the $2 UP. I’m betting that if I had bought 2, I would have gotten the $1 and another $2 UP reward as well. Wish I had gotten 2 now … they are really good. 🙂
