So I am on cloud 9… I just got back from Rite Aid a little while ago and well, I LOVE Rite Aid… seriously! I was able to score all 12 packages of candy pictured above for FREE! Plus, I left with EVEN more +Up Rewards then I began with!

I tried getting starburst and skittles but I only got the $1 up reward. But the sizes were different than what is posted above. I found the dum dums and tootsie suckers and thats what worked for me. 12 bags of suckers. I am glad it’s not chocolate or I would have ate it all before Halloween! HAPPY DAY! THANKS COLLIN!!!!

Had to laugh at this one, especially since I bought 8 bags of candy and turned around & used some of my UP rewards for three 12-packs of Diet Pepsi.
This is working on candy bars too. I shopped on Sunday and used the BOGO singles for 3 snickers and 3 twix. I also had the free M&M’s coupon and bought a single of that, and two large bags of Swedish fish that were 2/5 with +1up and had a BOGO from facebook. I needed fillers, can not find the travel Tresemme or Ace in my stores. Anyways, I got back the +1 up for the Swedish fish and then got 2 +2 up rewards that said chocolate on them. I didn’t truly know why or what but when it works in my favor, I simply don’t ask too many questions. Unfortunately, I turned around and spent them on some free Huggies so I can’t tell you all exactly what it said on them.
hi! they read “compliments of club choco” but they do not work on any chocolate, the 2 2up’s were generated by the swedish fish. oh how i did wish it worked on chocolate, i’d build a chocolate mansion and eat my way out:)

Wow this was an exciting deal! I live in Oregon so it works here. I bought 12 bags of candy. 6 of those bags were swedish fish and sour patch kids so I could use the $4/6 coupon I had. I then used the $5/$25 RA coupon. I was out of Up rewards so I had to pay out of pocket $21 and earned back $30 in Up rewards! I just sat and showed my hubby and kids the candy, receipt and explained the deal! They think I am nuts! : ) Furthermore Collin the 3 bags of swedish fish I bought had 2 oz bonus in each bag, so like 6 oz more free! We are set with candy for a long time!

I got my receipts together will return 20 dollars worth. That still means I spent 15. I have 20 in ups rewards now. I started with five. So I am still pondering what went wrong. I used a five off 25 on one to so I should have made money? But i still payed three dollars out on that trans.So if I take the ups as a wash for the money I spent then I am back to where I started.

It is only free candy IF you have enough UP rewards to pay for the out of pocket cost first and then you get back more UP rewards and you get back more than you put out which makes it into a money making deal. As far as returning, it is a mileage may vary type of deal. They will not give you any UPS back, but if you are lucky they will refund the full purchase price of the candy. Some of my stores will do that, others will not. By law they should return the money to you since they are being reimbursed from the manufacturer for the UPS (just like regular manufacturer’s coupons) and therefor if they do not then they are double dipping, getting reimbursed and getting the product back to sell. Maybe contact 1 800 Rite Aid prior to going and confirm that they will return the full candy amount (or if that is all you bought the full amount minus the $5 Rite aid coupon). HTH explain where you went wrong. Whenever Collin posts deals like this it usually involves purchasing stuff with UP rewards that we have previously received to have as little out of pocket expense as possible and then we get back more Up rewards to use towards another deal.
I am still confused a little. I had five dollars in ups to begin with. I bought some of the wrong size candy so my bad. I am hoping to return that tomorrow. Hopefully that will give me 17.50 back.But I still spent 38 total. So I should have been able to keep rolling my five bucks and then leave with that same five bucks right. I wondered how riteaid made money with all the ups now I know that the manufacturer pays for them thanks for that info.
I need some help! I love Rite Aid…I’ve never had a problem shopping there and have scored some awesome deals over the past few months that I’ve been couponing. So I guess it was only a matter of time until I had an issue 🙁 I went to do the candy deal tonight and NO +UP rewards printed…so forget about the mystery ones, I didn’t even get the advertised ones on stuff that I purchased. Has this ever happened to anyone? They told me to call 1-800-RITEAID and somehow they’ll reimburse me.but I’m sure that I won’t get the extra $2/bag 🙁 I am so bummed!!

Yep. Even my Nivea and other advertised rewards didn’t print…including the $1 rewards on the 2/$5 candy. I thought it might be b/c my wellness card apparently didn’t scan in the beginning of the transaction. They took it, but when they scanned the rewards I was redeeming they had to scan my card again and said that it didn’t go through the first time. I asked if this was why the rewards didn’t print and they said it wasn’t…that this has happened a few times this week. 🙁
It could be their computer was offline. When their computer is offline (not on Rite Aid system), UPs do not print. I am sure the extra $2 per bag is an error so you are better off returning and repurchasing.
Ok, I’ll try to return and repurchase…I hope I don’t have to physically take all my items back. Do you think they’ll be able to do it just from the receipt?? My husband already busted into a bag of swedish fish!!
The other day some of mine didn’t print either. .I simply called the 800 number and told the rep on the phone. She was super sweet about it, took my name and address and said they would be mailed to my home. can’t beat that kind of serivce! 🙂
just call 1800riteaid about the advertised +ups that didn’t print! my +ups did’nt print on 4 scopes and flosses last week, so they mailed them to me! have your receipt in hand, they’ll need the transaction #

Kara- return to the store you purchased with your receipt and complain. Ask them to rering it since the UPs did not appear. The manager may or may not work with you. We’ve had UPs not print twice. We’ve addressed it immediately at the store level. Once, received cash; the other, received the up.
In the future, check your ups in store and address any missing immediately. If not, do not open anything in case it needs to be returned.
I am surprised you guys are finding this candy. This deal has been circulating for about four days now. It only makes sense if you need candy or have a 4/20 or 5/25 (WHICH COLLIN SHOULD TELL EVERYONE THAT RA STOPPED THE 5/25 AS OF TWO DAYS AGO). For a few bags, this is not a mm.

I’m so mad, I was watching the VV on Sunday but forgot to watch the ones for the 5/25. I went back on Tuesday and I couldn’t find them. One of the boards I belong, someone called CS and was told due to abuse, they pulled the coupon. Not quite following that logic.,,,,,

If you have the $2 off 3 or $4 off of $6 q’s from the 8/8 ss. it is a mm. Also if you watched the $5/25 videos when they first came out you do have 2 $5/25 and a $4/20 plus the ones from last month.

If you check the VV’s on their website under Rite Aid–there used to be two offers for $5/25. Corporate offices confirmed on 10/5 that the 5/25’s were pulled and no longer available. The one’s in the personal accounts are no longer available either.
5/25’s reduced each orders total tax by $10. RA must have caught on to this programming error. RA CS does not know if and when the 5/25 will return.
What about the one I printed off Red Plum that expires 12-31-10 and have been saving for a really good deal, can i still use that one?
That’s the unknown. I tell others to plan to use a 4/20 scenario or no 5/25 just in case.
Oh, I see! I had to dig out a receipt where I used a $5/25 and sure enough I calculated the tax on the subtotal should have been 2.40, but deducting $10 from the total, dropped my tax to only $1.45!!
Yes, that is what many saw. That is why many jumped their orders up to $25 instead of 4/20. RA has to pay that difference per applicable state x per order! Not great for a company in such financial trouble.
The pdf still works…
I’ll be the first one crying when they permanently pull the $X/$XX Qs–I like them a whole lot better than Ups–and I do think it’s a matter of time before they pull those Qs and SCRs and go strictly with the Ups rewards. However, RA did *NOT* pull the $5/$25 from all personal accounts. I had two in my account that I watched 10/1, and I printed them yesterday just fine. If they pulled it just a few days ago, I suspect it might be due to the recent unlimited Ups deals (such as this one and the Nivea) that people are turning into moneymakers. Sure, people found moneymakers in the past, but now it’s a lot more blatant since they know how much is being spent OOP and the Ups print right there on the receipt.
How did it reduce it by $10 – it never did for me? Perhaps it was a computer glitch in certain areas?

First, I personally think with Halloween coming up most of us are trying to stock up on candy and this deal makes candy FREE after +Up Rewards– which I think is VERY awesome! Also, the $5 off $25 coupons are still valid to use, so I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about.
I like to pass on deals that I think are great. If this one doesn’t interest you, then just move along to the next one! 🙂

There is a $5 off $25 pdf and if Rite Aid was really worried about it, they wouldn’t have those out there. I am sure they are smart enough to know people can print as many as they want. Also…the 5/25’s are supposed to be individually issued to each account holder via their card number or registration at Riteaid.com. I think these blanket 5/25’s will be denied soon (although I can not confirm). I am not trying to scare your readership vs. provide timely important information. Not nice to walk in Sunday morning to find a scenario slammed due to the 5/25’s no longer accepted.
I have not read anything saying $5/25’s are not accepted. The vv $5/25’s for October are no longer available IF you have not already watched them. As many others have stated there are other $5/25 ‘s that can be used.

Didn’t the end have to be near anyways? Regardless of how little everyone pays, that doesn’t eliminate the cost of production, shipping, shelving, etc etc. That stuff still costs somebody money. Only difference is now its them not you. They’ll get wise to it though, and realize CVS and Walgreens aren’t giving away their pharmacy profits like Rite Aid is.
I highly doubt they will STOP $5/25 coupons all together. If they did; they would probably give some sort of notice. I speak to a Rite Aid PR rep very often when situations like this come up-and I’m pretty sure he would give some sort of notice to those that he speaks with–ie, bloggers. So I don’t think it will effect us too much. With the UP’s, Single Check Rebates and the like it seems as though we will all still find great deals even without them. Just think more strategic shopping 🙂 This deal is a perfect example of this! No coupons needed and you still get it FREE!

Just curious…where did you find this deal four days ago? I’ve googled it and every coupon site I’ve found has it posted today.
If anyone is going at 8am tomorrow could you post if it worked? I might stop in on my way to work but didn’t want to waste a trip. Some sites are saying it ended today. Hope not! Also if you do 2 transactions can you use the UPS on the second transaction and still get more UPS? I’m not sure if Rite is like CVS where you can, or Walgreens where you can’t. Thanks!

I’m a hardcore Wagger and can assure you, if you use RR’s at wags on a product that is producing RR’s, you WILL get another RR. 🙂 I have no idea about CVS and extra bucks though.
I think Julie meant that if you use a Register Reward from one item to purchase that same item in another transaction, you will not receive an additional Register Reward, which is true. Even if it is from the same parent company, you will not receive the Register Reward . However, if you take a Register Reward from one company and use it to pay for a Register Reward generating product from a different company, it will work!
The deal rolls means the UPs can be rolled into the next transaction with the same items. I’ve done this with Nivea products, candy, etc.

There is still a $5/25 PDF from last month good until the 31st. I used one yesterday and didn’t have a problem. 🙂 hope this still works tomorrow!
I’m wondering on the PDF, does it waste a lot of color ink (the blue background) My yellow is already down to half due to that darn ink wasting background on the VV. If I print them in draft
(I don’t have a b/w option on my printer), they don’t scan!
The coupon is strategically placed near the middle of this particular pdf file. I found that to minimize the ink wastage I rotate the file to make the coupon vertical. Then while printing, I manually cancel the print after the printer (which prints the coupon sooner than if left unrotated) prints the coupon. A lot of work I realize, but I burn through a handful of these each month, and don’t like to waste ink.
you can actually maximize the image to about 250%(for my computer) and scroll it so that the coupon is in te middle. Then you can press print and choose current view so you dont have to print the blue part (or at least print just a small part of it lol)
Do you have a setting for high quality/black ink only or something similar? That works for me, but the minimal black settings will not scan for me on the PDFs or the Video Values coupons.
Read too many posts about mgmt rejecting $5/25, $4/20’s due to b/w vs. color. Sadly, every store is different.

The ups is a program which pays you to come back and shop. There is an intial investment up front (your first order which will produce ups). But, after the first time, if you manage your ups, you can pay with ups, receive ups, and back again over and over. So, technically it is free in the long run, but up front, you will pay the entire order balance, and on your receipt there will be bunches of up rewards to use the next time you shop.
Super fun deal!! Just wanted to post that I got more than 6 on the $1 UP. Went to 3 different stores and bought 6 bags at the 1st and 3rd store and 8 bags at the 2nd store. All printed as posted in the deal at store #1. At store #2 I got 3- $1 and 7-$2 UP’s . I thought this was right from the limit posted except one of the $2’s did not print . . . had q’s so still free. Debated not going to store #3 but decided I would and got all the UP’s again! 6-$2 and 3-$1 UP’s!! So total of 9 of the $1’s for me—Not expecting those $1’s but super happy!!

just wondered, want to do the candy deal, but i also had other items i wanted to buy.
The two Rite Aids in my area (Carmel, NY) will take more than one $$/$$ coupon in one transaction, as long as the subtotal is more than the required amount on the coupons.. so if you have two $5/$25, you need at least a $50 subtotal. HTH, but it is probably a YMMV…
My Rite Aids In So CA let me do 2 transactions and use 2 5/25 coupons (one on each) so yes give it a try.
When the rewards first started I got some that said only valid on certain purchases like Garden Items. What exactly did the RR say on them? Will they be good for any purchases at Rite Aid? Thanks Collin for your great site.

I also used the 50 cents off two bags RA Qs in my deal, but when I tried to use the $1/2 Starburst/Skittles/Lifesavers Qs, the machine beeped & would not accept the Q. Turns out it was for the fun size variety, which is not part of this deal.

I think any Rite Aid that still has the candy will be out today at the rate people are buying them up – 36 bags for some people! One site I read that someone bought 100 bags altogether from different stores. Some people get way carried away with deals like this. *shrugs*
Worked tonight in San Diego! Got 12 bags free just as posted. It worked on the Tootsie POPs too! I had printed my $5 off $25 over a week ago and used that tonight. It worked no problem.
The only bummer is that in San Diego our new week begins on Friday so this would be the last night for this to work in San Diego. I barely made it. I rushed to the store at 9pm!

i went to my rite aid and for some reason their computers weren’t working right so it didn’t print any up rewards but their computers weren’t working all day. i didn’t do the deal and told them i’d be back in the morning. they were awesome about it. I went to my Rite Aid here in Orem, UT and there were only jolley ranchers, cow tails, and dum dums left which I of course bought. Still awesome to get six bags of free candy! The cashier was very helpful and knew exactly which ones were the mystery rewards candy. She actually showed some to me from behind the counter, and so I asked if their were more in the back since she was showing them to me, and she said “Oh, no these are for me. Once I saw this deal, I stocked up myself! (Kinda funny) Also, I asked if this deal expired tonight or they would be available tomorrow, and she actually said it was a GLITCH in their SYSTEM! I went right to Rite-Aid after this post and there was not one single bag of candy left. I went and asked the register if they were going to get more and she said not until Saturday and said that 1 lady game in and made 4 different transactions and bought about 36 bags of candy!!!! I was pretty ticked. I didn’t get a single one.

Also, my RA has accepted multiple $5/$25 coupons on the same transaction and I kindof feel guilty now! Has this happened to anyone else? Should I go talk to the manager? I don’t want to be a crook! I just hand them my pile of coupons every time and they scan them and the computer takes them fine but I still feel guilty!
In the policy it does state that only one may be used per transaction. HTH

I am new to couponing so I have a stupid question, sorry. Ok i have a +Rewards card but i don’t get how you get the rewards? Is it something stored on your card or is it printed like a catalina coupon? HELP? Also, is this deal good tomorrow, Friday?

The rewards print out on the end of your receipt if you buy the items that will generate them. Make sure to scan your card though or you won’t get the sale price or the rewards. No idea yet about the deal working or not tomorrow
Thanx for this post. After reading your post and seeing your picture, I headed out to the store for the 3rd time today. I was able to get 10 bags and didn’t clear the shelves. Someone before me bought most of them already. I went to two different stores. My first trip was with my favorite cashier, she was really sweet. My second trip was to another store about 20 minutes away. This time the closing manager checked me out and indirected called coupon shoppers as “cheating the system”. She didn’t think I heard her talking to another associate. But I asked her how and explain to her how the coupons work and how they are basically making a profit from coupon users. To top it off, I purchase some red bull (late night study) and the price didn’t ring up correctly. There policy states that if the item isn’t ringing up at the correct price, I would received the item for free. But I didn’t fight it, the manager was already treating me like a criminal. She really did make me feel like I was doing something wrong when I know I am not.
I just read your post at 11:20 and I live in So. Cal, so my the ad ends today. Made a slightly rushed trip to score this amazing deal! Got 8 bags of candy total was $20, paid with $4/20 riteaid coupon, a $4/6 swedish fish coupon and 6 $1.99+ups from all the nivea I got earlier this week. Paid .6 cents out of pocket and got back $20 +ups!!!!! Wow!! Thanks Collin!

I’m not a hater – I love getting deals! But, if you pay $5 for two bags of candy and get back $5 in ups, and you can do this deal enough / or roll it enough to get 36 bags of free candy, you might want to exercise some restraint. Even if you’re donating it to your school, church, etc. Rite Aid is a business that we want to keep in business.

Ran out at 8:30 last night and got 4 candies, vaporizer, nivea lip, and a twizzlers (for my hubby). Used 5/25, 5 off vapo, 1 off 2 werther, 1 off nivea. Spent 15.06, but made 12.99 in UPs. Very nice! Thanks for posting!
Sweeten the deal with manufacturers coupons! Coulda saved even more! There was a vicks coupon, nivea, and weathers for sure.
