NEW UPDATE: Sorry, all! It appears this awesome candy deal is no longer working.

So I am on cloud 9… I just got back from Rite Aid a little while ago and well, I LOVE Rite Aid… seriously! I was able to score all 12 packages of candy pictured above for FREE! Plus, I left with EVEN more +Up Rewards then I began with!

Here’s what my transaction looked like…
Purchased 2 bags of Dum-Dum Pops 11.4 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Blow Pops 11.4 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Skittles 14 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Starburst 14 oz 2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Jolly Ranchers 14 oz  2/$5
Purchased 2 bags of Sour Patch Kids 14 oz 2/$5
Total = $30
Used the $5/$25 coupon found here or here
Total now– $25 (+ Tax)
Paid with Rite Aid gift card and +Up Rewards earned from last week
Got back $30 worth of +Up Rewards ( 6 $1 +Up Rewards and 12 $2 +Up Rewards)
Final cost FREE + a money-maker!

So as you can see from the picture above, even more candy products qualify for the $1 + Up Reward and $2 Mystery +Up Reward! Here is the full list of items I know work…

* Skittles 14 oz
* Swedish Fish 14 oz
* Cow Tail Minis 10 oz
* Starburst 14oz
* Jolly Ranchers 14oz
* Caramel Cremes 12 oz
* Sour Patch Kids 14 oz
* Jolly Rancher Pops 10 oz
* Charms Blow Pops 10.4 oz or 11.4 oz
* Dum Dum Pops 11.4 oz
* Lifesaver Mints Wint o Green 13 oz

Here’s a recap on this deal for all of you that may have missed my post earlier…

Buy 2 candies listed above (make sure to buy the exact ones listed) on sale this week 2/$5
Pay $5 (Or less if you have any coupons for the above candies)
Get a $1 +Up Reward for buying 2
Plus, get 2 $2 Mystery +Up Rewards
Final cost 2 bags for FREE!

*It appears that the $1 +Up reward for buying 2 is limited to 6 and the Mystery Rewards don’t appear to have a limit (?). I would suggest buying 12 mix and match bags of candy from the above list for a total of $30, then use the $5/$25 coupon found here or here. You’ll end up paying $25 + tax out of pocket and then get back $30 in +Up Rewards to turn this into a money-maker!

    Did the deal at 5:30 in Northeast Ohio and it was a no go. Sigh. Oh well it happens.

    The cashier at my rite-aid knows me well by now and when she saw me going through the candy, she came to me and said that she’s aware of a bonus up reward that was being printed and that rite-aid has since fixed the problem. I did the deal anyway, hoping she was wrong and she’s not. No more $2 rewards are printing, but the $1 ones still are, as they are supposed to. Bummer!

  3. Carmen

    I went today and no ups printed. I bought 10 bags of the candy on sale, I went bCk in the store and was given $5 refund.

    Does anyyone know if I return all the candy thenI will get my up rewards back? I bought 10 bags and did not receive the $1 ups or the $2 up rewards? I should of at least received the $1 ups???? Thank you

    • Flying angel

      Same here. I am returning my candies. I am wondering if i will be able to get back at least the up coupon value that I paid for the candies?

      • Stacy

        I did the deal at one store, and it worked, so I went to the next closest store about an hour later, and it did not work there.. I only received the $1 +Up for every two bags bought. Since I used a bunch of +Up’s on that purchase (and the rest I charged to my credit card), I returned all the candy right away. Not only did they refund it all to my credit card, but I was able to keep the $1 +Up’s that printed out! I kept asking the cashier and manager “are you sure?? I don’t want to cheat the system! Are you suuuuure you don’t need the +Up’s back??!!”… Anyway, I guess it is a YMMV, but if you go back no later than tomorrow, they should at least give you a store credit for the amount of the +Up’s you used. If not, definitely call customer service.. I find that Rite Aid is pretty good about keeping it’s customers satisfied. As long as you return the stuff ASAP, they should be able to refund your +Up’s one way or another.

        Sort of OT, but: When I went to the second Rite Aid, I tried to pay with about 14 different +Up’s, and the cashier told me they can only accept one +Up reward per item! I was like “WTH!”, so I asked him if that was something new, and he said it was, due to people getting overage or using the +Up’s towards tax, or something like that. I said “oh, ok”, but inside my head I was thinking “yeah, right!”… looks like I won’t be going there unless I absolutely have to. I don’t understand how these stores have one corporate policy, but make their own rules up anyway!

        • Samantha

          Yes, it is in their policy to accept multiple rewards pre-tax; they just can’t give cash back. I would call corporate if this seems to be the norm for that store.

          • Stacy

            Thanks for the advice, Samantha :). I thought the same thing, and checked it online when I got home… I really need to print out their coupon policy, but until today, I’ve been extremely lucky to never have problems using coupons there. In retrospect, it was probably a new/inexperienced/misinformed cashier, because they were totally cool about refunding the full amount I paid (including +Ups), straight to my credit card (though I was expecting store credit). As I understand, quite a few people on this thread got screwed out of their +Ups when returning the candy today, but my local stores have never given me problems refunding them (usually in store credit form)… I guess it’s just a bit of misinformation and individual store managers making their own rules up..

  5. Kathryn

    So if these $2 ups are not going to be accepted, how would we know? Unless we go to the store and look crazy, or they would work just fine….guess we will all have to just wait and see

  6. monalissa

    I just got home from RiteAid 20 minutes ago. 5:10 pm PST. Im here in Antioch, CA. I bought 10 bags and got only three $1 UP and three $2 UP (I am thinking this is because of the Skittles 14oz, red pack and 2 starburst 14 oz red pack, which I bought last night.) All the other candies did not produce the $2 UP huhu. ( i bought 3 orange skittles pack, 2 starburst navy blue pack and 2 blow pops)

  7. Faith

    Can they void all of our mystery UPRs??? Surely they wouldn’t be able to since they have unique bar codes…..and man oh man would they ever have tons of people angry at them. I’m scared of that now that someone mentioned it.

    • Dana

      They would never void your coupons,,,, they will be good to use on your purchases,,,

      • Katyln

        I used mine yesterday and had no problems.

  8. Dana

    I work at rite aid and didn’t know about this deal till last night when I logged on Hip2save,,, went in to work this morning and got 12 bags and got the originial #1 up reward and the bonus $2 up reward,, had another empolyee come in later in the day and she bought her 4 bags and also got the deal this was at 330pm in TN, No one should be mad or expect Rite aid to give you the bonus coupon back when it was never advertisied,, all those who got the deal got a great deal and all where lucky to get it,,, I know I am,,, I am going to donate it to a local school

    • Liz

      Dana, does this mean we should still be able to use all the $2 Up Rewards? I have $26 in UP Rewards, I am hoping they will not tell me that I cannot use them. I understand the deal is dead, but once the rewards printed, they cannot refuse to honor them, can they? Rite Aid is always so good about this stuff.

      • Dana

        no they will not refuse to use your coupons,, you got them the coupons are yours….

  9. Elizabeth

    Will we be able to redeem these up rewards now? I know some people have rolled them but since Rite Aid has caught on, I wonder if they will not work now…. anyone tried?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      It works!

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    Went to rite aid at 8pm in MI and put what was left of the candy on the counter. The cashier asked are you trying to do that deal because if you are it’s not going to work because my manager and I called head office when some lady got$50 worth of candy for free. She said that should never happen. She said that right after they called they changed the system to not print the mystery $2 UPs anymore 🙁 it was good while it lasted!

    • Anon

      Just curious as to where at in Michigan?

  11. margaret in seattle

    i am so glad to do 3 transactions this morning. i knew it’s going, going…gone… SOON and did my last transaction just about 40 mins before it ended. got 30+ bags for my stressful coworkers, teachers at school to hand out as end-of-week prizes and holloween treat-or-treaters at the end of the month. i didn’t think i am going out control just b/c the candies are free. but i did NOT wipe out the shelf. got mine at three different stores in my neighborhoold.

  12. Joan Southwick

    Jen and I rolled this deal several times and were able to use the ups to buy other things.. came out just about dead even,,,, after rolling about 8 times between the two of us……. Utah RiteAids rock!

    • jen

      Free candy to make goody bags for my daughters classmates at dance! Thanks Collin! Our cashiers said it was an amazing deal and to take advantage of it while it lasted! 🙂

  13. Jamela

    My store did not have most of the candies listed…..still a great deal! 🙂

  14. Colleen

    What a deal! This Rite Aid beats all in deals and friendliness. I bought my $25. worth of candy yesterday but none of my UPS printed out. The clerk checked for the sale price sticker and called the manager. They agreed it should have printed out the $1 UPs (5x), so the manager said he would give me the cash. I casually mentioned the $2 UPs which should have printed and told him my daughters had already done this transaction at another Rite Aid. How nice can you get? He gave me $25 cash instead of UPs!

    • KP

      Awesome customer service! It’s nice to hear stories of great cashiers and managers, since there seem to be many more that aren’t so nice!

  15. diane

    has anyone tryed to use ups rewards today from the candy?

    • Katyln

      Yes I have. I’ve bought 6 packages of diapers and only paid around $4 oop!!!! I’ve never shopped at RA before now and wasn’t sure how to use them. the cashier was way friendly and helprd me through it. Thanks Collin!!

      • diane

        good job…………….
