Rite Aid Resolution Program:
Each time that you use your wellness+ card from now through January 22nd, you will be automatically entered to win one of 775 prizes to help you be healthier and more active in 2011. Prizes include: Polaris All-Terrain mountain bikes; Nintendo Wii game consoles, complete with Wii Fit and a balance board; Life Fitness ellipticals or treadmills; Apple iPod Touch and $50 iTunes gift card packages; Rite Aid gift cards; and the grand prize, a 4-day/3-night trip for two to the Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona. Click here for more details.

Video Values Update:
This month’s selection of Video Values includes a special new Beauty Bonus that is different than what you’ve seen in the past. The Beauty Bonus is $4 off your purchase of $20 or more. In order to get the Beauty Bonus, you will need to watch all of the videos in the special beauty section, which will combine for this high-value offer. There will not be individual coupon offers for each video for this section only.

$5/$25 Total Purchase Coupon Update from Rite Aid:
All legitimate $5 off $25 coupons will be honored at Rite Aid up until the expiration date as marked. Due to some internal changes, they may not scan correctly for a few days, but instructions have been given to stores that these legitimate coupons should be accepted. Please note that they are, as always, limited to one coupon per customer, so multiple versions of the same coupon cannot be accepted. Questions and concerns about coupon acceptance at Rite Aid stores should continue to be directed to our customer service team, who can be contacted by visiting our secure chat service accessible at www.riteaid.com or by calling by calling 1-800-RITEAID (1-800-748-3243).

Through January 22nd, get a $20 +Up Reward when you buy $100 of select items. The list of eligible items can be found in the January 2011 Rebate Directory. Look for the starred items in this post. For the very latest Rite Aid coupon policy, please go here. I would encourage you to print a copy to take with you to the store.

I am sick and tired of greedy hoarding couponers that clear shelves and ruin deals for everyone. I hope RA and the rest of the stores continue setting limits like they did on the TP deal.

  2. HeidiP

Yes, hopefully a limit of one for everything in the future, similiar to CVS. Then there would be no hoarding. Just think of all the free time everyone would have if they didnt have to leave a comment about the hoarders. Yes, limits would be super!!!

  3. Cindy

The Rite Aid in my area was out but they were giving out very generous rain checks so I don’t mind a bit!

    • Melissa R.

Wow! Our store had a sign that said one RA paper product per household and no rainchecks.

Mine was limit 4 on the tp and all the tissue was gone.

      • MarEstGer

No Raincheck?? that’s crazY!!! – I would call the 800 rite aid # and see if that’s even right! I have found some stores to just make up stuff….

I was UnLucky to not find on Thursday when I got there …. BUT very Lucky I got a raincheck for the roll , 4 pack and tissues for 10 each on Thursday and another on Friday way before the 1 per family limit was issued! so hopefully I will get some FREE TP next week or so when they restock!!!!!!!!!! YAY

  4. Melissa R.

Our store is limiting customers to one RA paper product per household (after people bought cart loads yesterday according to the clerk).

I bought two TGIF chip bags and didn’t get any UPs for those. ???

    • Liz R.

I’m pretty sure only the potato skin ones produced ups, I bought 2 today and they gave me $1 up each, but the Quesadilla one was not marked on sale and not marked for Ups where as the others were,

    • Jennifer

I got UP’s for the potato skin ones and also the mozzerela sticks ones. Only two my store had.

    • Amy

I got three different flavors and received an up reward for each one. Mozzarella, potato skins, and quesadilla.

  5. Roger

I got 4 – $1 ups and 1 – $1 up from the Hormel chili tonight. Also got 4 bags of TGI Fridays cheddar and bacon, and produced 1 – $1 up each. However, I also found jalapeno TGI Fridays and they rang up $2.19 each minus my discount, so they had to override the price and mark them down to $0.97. But no $1 ups on those varieties.

  6. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Confirming again, the limit is now 3 per household/card, 3 total of tissue or toilet paper whatever the combination. I kind of feel sorry for RA they really took a beating on this one.

    • Christa K.

Hey don’t feel sorry – they put out their own deals & ads! And since in the past they’ve had limits on things, it was reasonable to expect that if no limit was going to be a problem, it was their own lack of foresight that they ran into this. I don’t mind limits but to impose a limit after the sale has been advertised & running a day or 2 is just not professional. It’s also not fair to the people who aren’t able to get the store til the middle of the week vs. first thing they open the day of the sale.

  7. Ali

I agree with you guys, there is such a thing as “coupon etiquette”! I went today to my local RA to get the toilet paper, which I was only going to get the 10 rolls to score the extra $3 (btw, this would not have cleared them out, they always stock plenty of everything), but there was a sign that said a limit of one per card! I asked the cashier while checking out my other stuff, and she said they called corp. about that because they had a lady come in Sunday morning and get every single roll on the shelf! Not two people, not three people, ONE lady! Im all for a good deal, but Im also all for letting others take advantage of it too! I had to think for a minute also, this store always stocks plenty like I said, Ive never had to get a rain check for anything, so Im wondering just how many rolls she walked away with?? But I guess on the other hand, the cashier at the current time could have asked a manager before checking her out about a limit then, maybe this would have prevented the 1 limit now…O well, atleast I have one free roll 🙂

  8. Simplysara

I just got back and I’m a little annoyed about how they handled the toilet paper situation. I found 2 in paper products aisle and went up to the register. I noticed that behind the counter there were several carts filled with toilet paper and I asked if there was a limit on the toilet paper, the lady said no (I didn’t know the official limit had changed to 3 but I’d heard some stores were limiting it), there wasn’t, so I asked if I could have 8 more to get a total of 10 (was hoping for the $3 bonus). I paid for my stuff and only three UPs printed out. The lady got her supervisor and the supervisor went to check with the manager and he told her the limit was 3. I said, “You know, the ad doesn’t have a limit and you didn’t post it AND I specifically asked if there was a limit”

Then the supervisor said, “Okay, well we will let you get away with it this time” and she returned the 7 toilet papers and handed me cash (which seemed great since I’d used UPs to pay. I was leaving and she said, well, aren’t you going to take the toilet paper? And I said, “I thought you returned them?” Then she said “We’ll let you get away with it this time but from now on there will be a limit on your card.”

I am glad I got the toilet paper and thrilled they gave me cash, but twice she said “we’ll let you get away with it” like I was doing something wrong by trying to buy toilet paper. I was obviously ready to walk away from the toilet paper. All they had to do was post a limit, or tell me there was a limit when I asked. All three cashiers gave me dirty looks. I don’t really appreciate the attitude I get from the cashiers at the rite aid. I’m not a shelf clearer. I adhere to the limits and I never try to “get away” with anything. I’m just trying to make ends meet, just like everyone else in the world and I don’t appreciate being made to feel like a criminal for it.

Rite Aid really needs to revamp their system. I don’t mind limits, but don’t surprise me and act like I’m stealing if I try to get a good deal. I rarely get multiples on the deals, and the shelves are usually cleared when I get there but the one time I buy a lot of something that I really need (I live in So Cal and we never get free TP deals). I’m about ready to give up on couponing at Rite Aid. They obviously haven’t taught the staff at the stores in my area that couponers are customers too.

    • Ali

Its not just your area, mine is getting horrible about the coupon policy! I actually called corp. just last week because of a miscommunication with a cashier (luckily I had the policy), but still I told them its one thing if your trying to scam the system, but when your just following their set policy, your doing nothing wrong, and they should make sure that their employes know their policy!

    • anon

call corporate-all Rite Aids got emails from corporate about couponers-we are bringing the majority of their sales and they are to treat us with respect. we are not doing anything wrong. they were told not to give us a hard time if our stuff is right(i know this because my husband is a store manager) call corporate and report there rudeness!!!!!

  9. Jennifer

I bought 2 single rolls of tp yesterday and 2 4-packs yesterday also. My store was fully stocked and I have a good supply of tp at home so I just grabbed a fair amount since it was free. We have 2 stores, each across town from each other but both bad about being stocked. One store was almost gone by 11am and the other had a ton at 6pm still. I’d have to say I agree on a limit this time around after hearing some stories from the cashier last night. However, 1 seems a bit tight. Luckily one store has a super nice manager who tells me all the time my coupon is cash to them! He always makes sure my deals work especially if the ad says so.

  10. Paige

WOW, I must have the greatest RA ever, I went in yesterday and got 10 rolls (I made sure to leave plenty for others, and I was not there at open either) then I went to another RA today and purchased 4 more and the SA told me that I could get a rain check for 6 more! I asked how the UP + would work since I did not think they would be getting more in this week and she told me that I would just have to bring in my rain check and they would just give me 6 more packs WOOT!

  11. Victoria

Has anyone been able to purchase he sinex products with the bu 30 and get 10 ups? I don’t want to buy them just to find out the ups didn’t print….I know some people had problems with the coupons being accepted but I’m not worried about that. They usually take whatever at my store 🙂

    • Nicole F

Yes!! I did this last night. My $10 UP printed!
      I Purchased-
      3 Vicks Sinex $4.97 each
      4 Gillette Deodorant $3.97 each
      1 Vicks NyQuil $4.97
      Total: $35.76
      Used-
$4/20 Beauty Bonus Q from Rite Aid Video Values
      3 $4/1 Sinex Q’s from the 12/26 P&G
      2 BOGO Gillette Deodorant Q’s from the 12/26 P&G
      1 $1.50/1 Vicks NyQuil Q from the 1/16 P&G
      Total Coupons: $25.44
      Total $10.32 OOP

  12. melissa

Just FYI, only the TISSUE is giving the Bonus $3 UP. When I went yesterday afternoon with a friend, we knew the limit had changed per reports on other boards. But she needed tissue for her classroom. So we went to the store she shops, was able to get 10 boxes (the store did not limit total quantity, but there was a sign that said limit 1 UP per paper product) However, when she checked out, 3 $1 UPs printed along with the $3 bonus UP.

  13. Liz

I bought 10 TP on Sunday and it worked fine. I was going back to get 10 more tissues yesterday, but I ended up getting sick. Guess I will skip it then!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Didn’t you post this same comment on another coupon savings site?? Sounds like you are trying to drum up YOUR business.

  15. Sara

I don’t think RA handled this one that well. When they have something that they are clearly advertising as FREE with no limit, what did they think was going to happen? I know this sort of thing has happened before. They should have printed a reasonable limit in the ad. The fact is people will take advantage of a situation like this and RA should know that! Limiting 1 per household is like a punishment or to make up for people buying a ton. It could have been a lot more fair for everyone.

    • SimplySara

They aren’t handling this well at all. They have the power to make their wishes clear in wording of their ads or their coupons, and if they don’t, it will be interpreted many different ways. Stating in the ad, “Limit 3” is extremely clear, and there aren’t likely to be many problems with it. But Rite Aid doesn’t do that and instead decides to treat their customers like criminals when people are doing a deal or using a coupon.

  16. Melanie

So what is the big deal about the toilet paper? The Scott deal does not look to be so fantastic that people would be “hoarding”. So am I missing something? I also think that the people who complain about “couponers” are just jealous and don’t want to take the time to get the good deals so they moan and complain!

    • Liz

      Your comment is ridiculous.

    • Jenn

It’s not the Scott deal. It’s on the single rolls–$1 each with 1 UP rewards. People were buying them all because they were essentially free.

  17. Katie

For all of you who are going crazy about the deals you weren’t able to snag, here’s a few options to help you get a deal. Actually TALK to your local Rite Aid about the following (note, this can be applied to other stores as well–minus any parts about the ups):

    1. “It seems that more often than not I don’t get the items I’m hoping for because Rite Aid runs out well before the sale is over. I usually find out about Rite Aid deals the Saturday before the sale starts. Would it be okay if I bought some items in the upcoming sale on Saturday (the day before it actually starts) and then brought them back during the sale to return and then buy again at the sale price?” (Note: the answer my be no, but it also might be yes!! Also, if you do do this, then I recommend that you don’t use any of your coupons or ups when you buy the items on Saturday… Use your coupons and ups the second time you buy the stuff at the sale price.)

    2. If I get a rain check, then how do ups work? (My local Rite Aid usually subtracts the amount of the ups from the sale price. For example, I got a rain check for the Huggies a while back when they were on sale for $8.99 and you got a $3 Up back. They wrote the rain check for $5.99. Unfortunately so many people have been complaining to my local Rite Aid about things not being in stock that they now limit most rain check amounts to 6 or less. However, if you go different days then you might be able to get more than one rain check…)

    3. If you don’t want to go the rain check route, then ASK if anything is being substituted for the item that the store is out of. That is what I do most often.

There are ways to work things out!!!!!! I’ve been anticipating that more often Rite Aid will be putting limits on things, but I also sincerely hope that they do not. If only we could all get along!! In my opinion, when you go to a store unless there is a limit on an item, then it is first come first serve. Yes there are people who buy a ton of stuff at a time, but it seems that more often than not a store will work with you. That’s the purpose of rain checks, and substituting items and things. A store’s goal is to sell as much as they can and make as much money as they can, right? So, ultimately, it seems that they don’t care who buys their stuff as long as it is bought!! They of course want happy and returning customers, but like I said, if they really want to keep customers happy, then they will work with you to help you get the things you want/need!! Just have some patience, and think a bit about how you can work things out with your local store.

MAJOR HINT: Stores are much more apt to work with you if you are patient, respectful, talk in a kind voice, etc.

I hope we all can strive to be better people and more considerate of one another. Happy couponing!! 🙂

    • Megan

HOOORRAAAY for friendly couponers!! Seriously considering starting a Friendly Couponers United Club lol!! Would be hip to have some Coupon Ambassadors for Ethics and Morals of coupon use! Couponers I think begin to feel entitled to deals, instead of greatful for them!!

On another note.. Your theory does work! I am friendly with ALL the cashiers at my local Rite Aid! We all know eachother and chat about everything from couponing to our personal lives!! They are always helpful and friendly and I am always patient and kind with a no worries attitude when a deal doesn’t pan out. If it doesn’t work as planned, it’s no big deal!!

  18. misti

is it limit 1 on the clearasil or can i do it twice? anyone know?

    • Katie

It might be YMMV, but I just got back and bought 6 in one transaction. I got all 6 ups. The in-ad coupon does state ‘one per customer,’ but a manager at my Rite Aid said I can use as many as I want in one transaction. I was totally surprised to find that there were any left, and that there were still some left after I took my six!!! 🙂

      • misti

thank you! should i use 1 in ad coupon or 2?

        • Katie

I used 6 $2/1 in-ad coupons and 6 $2/1 coupons from the clearasil site. Sorry, I think my earlier comment may have been a bit confusing. So, one in-ad coupon (can be combined with one manufacturer coupon) per one item. Hope that makes sense!! 🙂

  19. littleblessings

Kinda funny to be arguing over TP LOL. Just want to let everyone know of a few great deals I found some mitchum is on clerence for 75%off making it free with the in ad and you 75 cent off man. Another is the dixie paper plates are $3.99 BOGO then there is a VV for $3 off 2 makin them less than 50cent each. The third is the oscillococcinum kids BOGO with $2 up they are $6.99 at my store with the PDF file I think from there site you can print 2 $2 off coupons making it 99 cents for 2!!! YAY!

    • Elizabeth

I did this deal, and a $2 UP printed for each one, making it a $1 MM!

  20. savysaver

Our stores were hit too! One lady went store to store and wiped all the shelves clean. They said between a few stores she had over 120 rolls of tp. They didn’t say how many tissues she got but they were all gone too. I just got a few packages of tp and tissues, obviously at a store she wasn’t at, so others would have a chance to get the deal too and I’m sure the quality is not the softest either.

    • KP

It was probably the lady from Extreme Couponing that had enough toliet for 40 years – or the lady from the show before that the had the extreme habit of eating the toilet paper! Hope this gives everyone a laugh break from all the TP drama this week!

  21. Stacey

On the buy $30 get $10 on the front page I used my BOGO old spice body spray coupons from the Nov/Dec P&G?? Worked like this
Buy 8 Old Spice Body Spray on sale for $3.97=31.76
    Use 4 BOGO -$15.88
    Pay $15.88
    Get back $10 RR
So it’s like getting 8 Old spice body spray for $5.88.
I am glad I hung on to these coupons. They expire 1/31/11

  22. Jennifer K

I bought the Sundown Vitamins today BOGO with my $3/2 and $1 video value, and there was a $2 +UP reward so it was a moneymaker!!! Yay
Also my Dixie Ultra plates were only $3.99 so I got 2 for $.99!!

    Thanks for the great deals!

  23. LACEY

So i just wanted to say how much I love Rite Aid! I got tissue, toilet paper, chili, tgi friday snacks, rice, a christmas, and the paper plates and still got a profit of $1.86 =] so exciting!! I also went back and got 2 Hershey Syrups for $0.99 each!…(they are printing the +UP and they have $1/2 coupon on smartsource… =]

    • Melis

So are the Hershey Syrups .99 and printing $1 UPS on each one you buy? TIA

    • Melis

Can’t find the hershey’s syrup q on smartsource. Could you please add a link? Thanks so much!

  24. Jessica

DOes anyone know if you can use an expired Rite Aid Up reward? just found it in the car..its expired 1/8/11..someone please let me know.

    • KP

No you can’t, but I had $7 that expired 12/25 and called customer service and they said as a one time curtosy they could send me a $3 UP maximum, so you could try calling.

    • Alycia

My Rite Aid manager said she’ll take them. You should just ask.

  25. cashier

    I WORK FOR RITEAID.
the latest alert we got from the headhonchos is,

on rainchecks; limit ONLY a TOTAL of 3. mixing or matching any of the single rolls, tissues, or bath tissue 4pack. PER household (meaning per person pretty much)

(Because to be blunt, its not like cashiers are dumb, i know many people will get several wellness cards with different phonenumbers yada yada and its not like we wont remember faces or call other stores to know the 411…so be respectable and dont be all greedy with the paper.)
so in other words you can ONLY get 3 free products.

    – if generous rainchecks have been given out they may/maynot be rewarded because this is the latest news from Riteaid, and will be enforced at my store the least….and I rather listen to corporate and not lose my job because im not doing what is asked, ( as with what many other cashiers are thinking)

Its only fair, so that EVERYone can enjoy a good deal.

Im all for coupons!!!! I use them myself AND I got my self a rain check for 2 4pck toilet papers and 1 tissue box = 3 total.
But because i am on the other side of the register it is ANNOYING for the ones who actually do abuse the coupons, and get greedy.

Its alot of network and chains to get the news to the stores and to get all the stores on the same page. Riteaid does things that even makes their own employees question the problems being formed from inadequate reinforcement on limits. Sometimes its hard for us to make the decision so that everyone wins. But when something goes bad we look bad and we become the escapegoats for the head honchos trying to be on your side.
And it does suck when we get blamed from our own corporate, WHO HONESTLY DOES NOT look out for they own associates working the nitty gritty for this company. BELIEVE ME i know the inner workings.

    soooooo…………

Please SHARING IS CARING take what you reasonbly NEED, and dont shoot the messengers … ehem the cashiers we are only trying to do our jobs! : )

    • esther

thanks for sharing your thoughts! yea, a lot of times I see cashiers are there just to do their jobs. And when rules are not passed down or advertised correctly, cashiers are the first that people argue with. We hear ya. But thanks for sharing with us what’s the latest news. I didn’t know about the mix and match of the 3 free tissues deal. I thought it’s 1 of each type, at least that’s what the corporate person told me when i chatted. Also, do we get rainchecks on those tissues with price = FREE? i asked for raincheck one time on a free after UP deal, and the cashier only put down the sale price and not the price after UP.

  26. hoovla78

Does anyone know if the Hormell Chili mm is working? I just want to make sure its not something they ended or changed midweek.

    Thanks!

    • esther

yea, i want to know too 🙂 ..but that’s only if the stores still have it. the stores that i went to have everything that’s basically free after UPs all gone

    • Jess

I went last night in Tn about 7:30 and it was still working. I bought the only four cans they had left (1 can with beans and 3 cans without beans) and got 5 ups back.

  27. breylynn

I went to my local RIte Aid to purchase the toilet paper and they were all out. I had made a few other purchases and recieved UP rewards so I went to the other Rite Aid across town. Their shelves were packed with the TP. I grabbed 4 bc 16 rolls will last and I am not a greedy couponer but thrifty. There was no signing as far as the limit but when I went to the register he told me it was 3. I asked why there wasn’t anything listed in the Ad or on the shelf sign, at which he couldn’t give me a straight answer. I had a second transaction in which I bought a folder and rubberbands and the sign stated ” Recieve $2 UP rewards for purchasing this item(rubberbands) and $1 UP rewards for purchasing this item(folder). This would have made both items free and a little overage, but neither rewards printed out. I asked the clerk to come with me and look at the sign. He too agreed it was misleading and wrote me an instore credit of $3 plus I still had $1 Up left. Overall a very confusing ad and signage but in the end I was satisfied .

  28. LEIGH ANNE

Did anyone buy any Mott’s applesauce or chef Boyardee that can confirm the extra +Ups are printing? I’d like to stock up on those 2 items if I can. My 1 yr old eats Applesauce in her oatmeal every morning and loves Ravioli!! 🙂

    • hoovla78

Chef Boyardee’s not working… You only get $1+ up when you buy 4… I tried on Monday 🙁 I was sad…lol

  29. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’ve never done RiteAid before until last week when they had the Motrin PM deal. I rolled that into this week and was starting to like them but I go on Sunday so I haven’t run into these problems yet. After reading this I don’t think I will keep up with them, just until my UP’srun out or they have another free deal. Just seems like too much drama and too much of a hassle. I hate the way wags works but at least it’s pretty cut and dry. I don’t like the direction Rite Aid is going with their limits. Limit 3 on TP doesn’t seem fair, at least not on the single rolls. I

And I just want to add that I hate when companys limit in odd numbers because it’s almost always best to coupon in even numbers.

    • hoovla78

Eh, I’ve been dealing with Rite Aid for a long time… It’s not usually like this. The + up program is new, so I think they’re still working on the kinks… I personally wouldn’t give up on them. I’ve gotten the most deals at Rite Aid vs. CVS and Wags. Although I do love all 3 : )

  30. Kelcie

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the VIACTIV deal? How many times can I do the deal ?

    • Elizabeth

I did the deal 4 times. It worked everytime! My RA is really close to my house, so I usually do my favorite deals a few times over the week. The last time I went was yesterday!

  31. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Does anyone know the limit for the get $10 buy $30 deal? I saw somewhere that the limit is 2 per card. Please verify. Thank you.

  32. Megan

I made a rookie mistake on a purchase. Oops! I didn’t consider my 20 percent wellness discount when buying burts bees lotion to score the $5 up reward. The three lotions ended up costing me a little over $19. So does anyone know if I go buy some chapstick if my reward will print, or did the purchase have to be in one transaction? I still got a good deal and am not willing to return and re-buy everything. Just wondering if anyone knows. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

im not certain, but it doesn’t seem that rite aid keeps a tally of what you spend. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal to carry it in there and repurchase it. Just be polite and explain what happened, and they should not give you a hard time.

  33. cd

so, in honor of our free toilet tissue…who wants to go tp “THE PRESIDENT OF RITE AID”‘s house???

  34. Kristen

If anyone has a Rite Aid that has the 75% off on Physicians Formula makeup, look for $5 off peelies on some of the makeup. The makeup is discounted to $2 – $5, so they are FREE + moneymaker. My Rite Aid does not have much clearance at all, but a Rite Aid in a nearby city always has huge clearance sales.

I did the hormel chili deal (used 2x $0.55/2) last night and I got all 5 +UPs. Got a couple bags TGI Friday snacks and got $1 +UPs for each bag.

  35. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    Hi Collin,

I love your site. Do you know the limit for the $10/$30 deal per card? Thank you for your help!
