Walgreens: Do You Have Issues Stacking Coupons?

I receive emails on a regular basis regarding various issues “stacking” Walgreens Instant Value store coupons found in the monthly coupon booklets with manufacturer’s coupons. It seems that several of you are being told by managers/cashiers that the coupons in the booklets are manufacturer’s coupons that cannot be stacked with other coupons.

Well, I have great news for those of you who are being told these coupons are not stackable. If you flip to the back page of this weeks (8/14-8/20) Walgreens ad, you should see an advertised Cottonelle deal (like the pic above). This deal clearly promotes stacking an Instant Value Walgreens coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon! I highly recommend sticking this ad in your coupon binder in case you run in to any cashiers or managers who tell you they no longer “stack” coupons. Also, be sure to bring your Walgreens corporate coupon policy with you every time you shop, as it clearly states the following:

When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure why the Walgreens store coupons are giving so many of you problems at the register. All I can say is to come armed with a positive attitude 🙂 and your Walgreens corporate coupon policy + an ad page promoting “stacking”. Good Luck!

I have not had that problem, but about a week ago I had a cashier who wouldn’t let me use manufacturer coupons and RR together. She said that because I had a coupon for each item I couldn’t use my RR. I wasn’t even using store coupons or anything. It isn’t even that it would have made my items free. I don’t know what she was thinking.

    • C

your total MQ + RR count can’t exceed the number of items you’re purchasing…if thats what you’re talking about.

    • sashagrace

Based on what you said, it sounds like she was right — check Collin’s site for more explanations of the coupon-to-item ratio at Walgreens. Sorry if I misunderstood, though!

    • ANNA

You have to have a filler item if you have the same amount of coupons as items if you are wanting to use your rr coupons. Rule of thumb unless stacking the manufacture and store coupons is 1 item one coupon. so if you have coupons for all items get cheapy items for each of the rr you are using

    • Rochelle

I was told the same thing by the cashier…I couldn’t use the register rewards on the next item that I purchased because I was already using a manufacturers coupons and that they consider the RR as a “manufacturers” coupon. Bologna if you ask me…I’ll be sticking to CVS for all my shopping needs!

ok guys im a wags employee worked here 7 years and u are supposed to be able to use all wags coupons and a mfg coupon as in an in ad coupon an ivc any other ie beauty baby the speacail inserts in sunday papers like the revlon and a mfg rr dont count those are conserded mfg and the reg will not let it work inless u get a cheap filler ie candy bar or whatever u find cheap they also do not include tax so if u have a 2 rr and only spend a 1.99 pretax it wont take also we are supposed to take coupons in the following order in ad ivc mfg and rr and that order only only because we dont give overage it is in the policy we are supposed to price adjust the coupon down though for example u get the dry erase markers two paks at 1.98 and have a 2.00 coupon we are suppose to adjust it to a 1.98 buy crossing out the 2.00 on the coupon write in a 1.98 and manually enter in the register 1.98 coupon button with the coupon order the real mfg will beep but we are suppose to manually enter it in ie 1.00 coupon button and it will take i advise u like colin says take the policy with u and to keep this ad flyer with u but not all wags are bad or have bad cashiers i coupon myself so i try to be fair and do my job right following our policies but we also cant take mfg coupons if they have a competiors name on it we dont get credit for these and lose profits also no expired ones my advice find a good wags or good wags cashier and stick with them happy shopping everyoneor go to someone that knows how to do there job

I have found that the Walgreen’s system will not allow more coupons than items.
Therefore, if you have 1 item and 2 coupons (1 manufacturer, 1 store) it will not work.
It is just how their system is set up.
The way around that I have found is always to throw in an extra little bag of candy!

    • tiffany

ok thanks i was wondering why the cashier at walgreen was asking if i had a coupon per item!

  4. Vanessa

It got so bad for me trying to stack coupons that I just completely started overlook any deal posted about Walgreens just not worth the trouble!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was having trouble too and avoided Walgreen deals for a while but I tried a couple of weeks ago with a toliet paper deal and did not have any trouble. I was also able to stack coupons for coffeemate and then this weeks dry erase markers. I am hoping that the cashiers are now all aware the coupon stacking is allowed.

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

also to let u guys know if u could hold off on doin the saturdate deals till saturday it really helps our cosmetics depts as we are competing district wide to outsell each other on these items this week is the dove items if u feel u need more of the items u could place an order with a mgr and they should be able to order more we beauty advisors would greatly apprecaite it im in cosmetics on saturday and sunday and on the front mon wensday and thurs and i see so many of the saturdate items go up front then and then saturdate none move at all and the corprate yell at us so just to give u guys a heads up esp if u love ur cos girls

    • dfwgirliegirl

Yea and it would be nice that IF we did wait to buy these on Saturday, Walgreens would have some on the shelf. The cosmetic cashier at one place told me they did not have them on Saturday and another said they had so few that it sold out with-in minutes. I would love to help out and buy the item durring a contest or whatever y’all are doing…but you have to have enough on the shelf to make it worth the wait. The Keri, for example, was so hard to find that I personally had to get some when I saw it.

    • Leticia

OMG.. On sunday of last week i got 3 KERI lotions so i said i would wait till saturday to buy my last 3 from the Cosmetic LADY.. me being nice.. SO i get there on saturday 10 am and i looked around so i could get the KERI lotion.. NONE were there.. So i kindly ask her if she had any more on the back.. She told me That she had some but she was saving the 10 lotions for someone.!!!!!!!!!!! I was real angry..

      • Allison

why are you angry at someone for buying 10 when you were planning on buying (6) total???? I went on a Monday for ONE and there was none left :/

        • Leticia

@Allison .. just for your info i buy enough for 1 item per person in my household we’re six so i buy six.. My issue wasnt that some lady was getting 10 what made me angry was why was the walgreens BC saving product that could be sold .. They making profit out of it .. And next time wake up earlier.. =)

          • Lane

Sounds like she had promised to save them for someone. Maybe next time you should ask her to save you some too instead of getting mad 😉

  6. Criss

did it today in wilm, nc and it worked great!

  7. M.Jackson

has anyone else had a problem with your local wags setting their own “limit” policy on sale items? I tried to get a raincheck today for the expo markers – I wanted 4 of them and the cashier AND the manager said that there was a limit of 2 per customer. When I told them that this was not stated in the ad, the manager said that each store could set their own limit. Hmmm…..

    • irene

Sounds fair to me. At least they didn’t limit it to 1, then you wouldn’t have been able to use the $2/2 Q.

    • Leticia

YEEESSS!!!! ONE transactions per visit per day!!! Whats up with em…

  8. ANNA

My problem is we are in a test area in Kansas city and all of our rrs are being turned into stupid points to go on line and get stupid items. I am not happy with this and if it is a sale that has the points instead of rr I do not buy it. I have spoken to so many who do not like this new points thing and they are all going to the other store to do their shopping as they have rrs on the items. By this I mean the competitions. So if anyone in management is reading this please help us. Anna

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I went to walgreens and used my buy one get one free Axe coupon. Since they were running the deal in store Buy one get one 50 percent off she would only give me $2.75 for buy one get one free. I dont think this was fair. But is it right? Had no trouble with stacking and used $40.00 worth of rr. Just so you have more items then rr you are ok.

    • Kristy

It depends on how their registers ring up the items. If it rings up say $2.75 for one and $2.75 for second instead of full price and 0.00. Then all they can subtract is the $2.75 unfortunately. I had no probs at one store. Then next town over the registers rang product up different so they would only take half off.

  10. Kristy

I sometimes have problems, so I usually try to explain to them what they already should know lol. Then if that doesn’t work I say, so you’re saying these are manufacturers coupons, so I can use them at other stores? And they say well no. And I say of course because they are your store coupons. They are even coded differently. If they still give me a problem I tell them to take the items off my order, and I will come back another time. It’s been awhile since I’ve had problems. They like to try to take my walgreens infant care coupons….yea right! lol

    • rakahdominguez

I never thought to ask them about using them at other stores. I will be using that next time. I hope I don’t have trouble.

  11. rakahdominguez

The coupons in the Walgreens ad are not considered manufactured. The monthly Walgreens coupon book show manufactured printed on them. Per the policy you can not use 2 manufactured coupons on one item. Our Walgreens stopped stacking the Walgreens ones that show manufactured printed on them with another manufactored coupon.

    • Kristy

They do say manufacturer on them, as do the Rite aid in ad coupons. Yet they are not manufacturer coupons either. I don’t know why they say that. As far as my understanding…they do not have a redemption address on them like all the other manufacturer coupons, there for making them not manufacturer coupons right?

  12. Gina

I don’t shop at Wal-greens that much because I always seem to have trouble stacking coupons and using their RR. I have gotten some good deals in the past but it has to be something I really need or want to get me in that store. I am glad lots of others get good deals at Wal-greens but most of the time it’s more hassle than it is worth for me. I don’t like have to hunt down a cheap filler item so I can use my coupons. Thanks to Collin I do know how to “shop” at Wal-greens if I want to. I love hip2save!

    • dianna101

yes gina i agree with you, its such a hassle 2 shop at walgreens, if you go 2 cvs u dont have 2 fuss with how many coupons u have, compared 2 how many items u have, & then even when u do have the same amount the register still beeps. ive come 2 the conclusion that walgreens just doesnt want us customers 2 use coupons.

  13. dangelofamily

Thank you so much for this post. I will def be saving a copy of this ad!!! I often pass up deals like the expo markers because I know our Wag’s won’t let us use a store coupon w/a mfr coupon. I don’t even pick up the monthly coupon booklet because of it. I might just have to get one tomorrow! Woo hoo!!!

  14. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I went to do the cottonelle deal today and the crest deal, so I thought.. The cashier rang 2 12pks toilet paper and 2 crest. I had $10 RR, 4 $.75/1 mq’s,+ wags cottonelle q and only one coupon took! I even asked for a manager who just stared at me like an idiot. Not sure where I went wrong? I never have trouble at my usual store/time! Ended up getting 2 12pks and 1crest $2.63 oop. Not a great day!

    • cjatthesea

I’ve only couponed for about three months…..so, nothing I say is written in stone. But, it sounds like you were trying to purchase four items with six coupons…..the RR is considered a coupon. Any other opinions ?
I have to say….I shop alot at Walgreens and never have a problem.

  15. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I had an issue recently when trying to stack coupons at Walgreens. The checker had to call her manager over. The manager explained that the coupons will not process in their register, unless the manufacturer coupon is scanned first. Sure enough, they cleared out my purchase, re-scanned my items, re-scanned the coupons (manufacturer coupon FIRST), and she had no problems with the remaining coupons.

  16. Sunflower07

Hey guys, quick question. Is it true that you can’t use a manufactures coupon on a clearance item at Walgreens? Today I ran into an issue at Walgreens because the manager said that I couldn’t use a coupon on a clearance item… that he would have to change the price of the item and price it higher and i could use the coupon (of course so i can pay the difference and not get it for free with the coupon).

    • Allison

I had a cashier try to tell me that too. It’s not true, you can use coupons on clearance items. Unless in a rare case (never seen it so far) you run across a coupon that says otherwise. Like, you couldn’t use a CVS 30% off total on a clearance item because it says “excluses sale items”.

    • Eve

They are wrong you totally can. We had some revlon nail polishes on clearance today I and I used coupons on them.

  17. Carol

I am a Walgreens employee and I can say that I know the coupon policy well. It is very clear that you can use one Walgreens store coupon Plus one manufacturer coupon on the same item. On the other hand, you can only use one manufacturer coupon per one item. With that being said you cannot use 7 coupons if you are only buying 6 items.
So why does the register still beep when you are following all the rules? I cannot explain why but what’s wrong is that our system just has its mind of its own, and I don’t know if it just gets confused when there are multiple coupons scanned. But there is a solution, with my 5 years of experience at Walgreens. Always MAKE SURE THEY SCAN THE MANUFACTURER COUPONS BEFORE SCANNING THE WALGREENS INSTORE COUPON. I find this working at least 90% of the time. Try this and let me know if there are still issues!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I totally don’t get Walgreens coupon policy, so I just don’t try to shop there anymore. 🙁
So if I have a coupon for $1 off 2 items, does that count as 1 coupon per item or 1 coupon for both items, in the scheme of the one coupon per item policy? Does that make sense?

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You can definately use a mfc on a clearance item:) custoners do it all the time at my store! if anyone is having problems with their walgreens i would strongly suggest filling out the cusyomer service survey that prints on most receipts(plus you have a chance to win $3000). I personally am coupon friendly and try to be fair.

    • dianna101

ive had nothing but problems & i calld that number, spoke with someone & they said someone would get back 2 me in a few days & its been a few months & im still waiting 4 that call.

  19. Lori

I have given up on shopping at Walgreens. Life is too short for such frustration.

    • dianna101

lori i have so got 2 agree with you. im so frustrated wth walgreens.

  20. sashagrace

Counting my Wags blessings over here! I knew some of you guys were having trouble but had no idea how widespread it is, or how varied the problems are. The cashiers at the store near me are great. Their registers are screwy and I always have to check the RRs, but they go out of their way to make sure I get what my purchases entitle me to. Thank you, Walgreens employees in the greater Madison, Wis., area 🙂 I think I’ll double-check all their names this week and email corporate now!

  21. dianna101

ive had no problems with stacking of the 2 coupons, but i havent been going 2 walgreens 2 much lately because of other reasons, walgreens makes it soooo hard 2 use coupons, the register is constantly beeping, the cashiers dont no what they are doing, but its not there fault, they have not been trained properly, but how could they, because the mangers dont even no what they are doing, i think i no more then they do, because i do my homework b4 i go 2 the store so i dont have no problems, but even though i do that, theres always still a problem. so ive taken a lil break from walgreens because i had a lil problem with 1 of the mangers in june & he really made me mad ( he talked 2 me & treated me like i was stupid ) & he was the 1 who had no clue what he was doing, & u no what i spent alot of $ in there ( so there loss & cvs gain ). ive been going 2 cvs now & no problems at all. with all the problems i always have at walgreens, stacking of the 2 coupons may be the only thing ive never had a problem with!!! wow

  22. monica

There is a deal on buy one get one free on Stayfree pads, and I have a buy one get one free coupon, can I combine this deal and coupon at walgreens?? Help, I tried already and they said I couldn’t but of course I don’t believe them.

    • sashagrace

Check Collin’s listing of the Walgreens deals this week. I didn’t buy those, so I can’t say for sure how it would play out, but I think because of size restrictions it doesn’t come out to be free…a little more than a dollar, maybe? Still a good deal. I know she updated that listing to reflect the restriction on the coupon, so I think you’ll find the answer there. Hope that helps!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, you can combine them. If you have trouble, speak with management

  23. Janetta

Our Walgreens is fabulous. Not only do they accept stacking, but if I missed a coupon or missed out on a deal they are quick to point it out to me. They also allow several separate transactions and because my shopping/couponing can take extra time they will do all of my transactions in cosmetics so that I am not holding up the line and making other customers upset. They always have a smile even when I feel that I may be a difficult customer!!

  24. dianna101

1 thing i did 4get 2 say is, the cashiers that ive gotten 2 no at walgreens are wonderful & very helpful, none of this is there fault they are just doing there job, since they no me, they do go out of there way 2 try & help me, but when the register starts beeping its out of there hands, they have 2 call in the manager & thats when the really bigger problem starts.

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

@monica i rang someone up with that same purchase and coupon yesterday. Im not sure why the cashier said it wouldnt work. Ask for a manager, they should know the coupon policy. 🙂 good luck!

  26. sig

had a problem with the expo deal today. i tried doing it with a bunch of suave products i have free coupons for. would not work. called over the manager and he said it’s not that they don’t WANT to do it, it’s that they CANNOT. i told them about the coupon policy, showed them the cottonelle deal and everything, but it was no use. they wouldn’t give it to me 🙁

  27. Kyra

I have not shopped at Walgreens but thought I would after hearing all these great deals everyone is getting. After reading all these comments, I think I’m going to stay clear of that store and stick with CVS. I havent had any problems with them and find great deals.

  28. Eve

Does anyone anyone elses walgreens keep a bunch of manufacturer coupons under the cosmetics counter? Our does and so I always talk to our senior beauty adviser lady and ask for the coupons I see here to score free stuff so I don’t have to bother buying newspapers.

    • laura

My favorite walgreens goes one step further than keeping coupons under the counter for you to use…. the manager brings in her own newspaper coupons that she doesn’t use and has her employees actually cut them out and tape them onto the product you can use them on! It is such a fun surprise everytime!

  29. Amy

i tried that expo deal last week… the $2 off any 2 pack the lady kept ringing up the wrong barcode & said i had to buy the item on the picture she only tried it once & refused to do it again so said i had to buy the 4 pack or not use my coupon & threw it back at me cause i pointed out the coupon stated ANY 2 packs she was very upset & asked me to get out of line…!!!! i never went back to that store so now i drive an extra 5 minutes to go to another walgreens!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just priced matcehd at Wal-Mart last week for the $.99 Expo markers with the $2/2 Q. It was actually a $.01 money maker for each 2-pack.

    • Yoseph

I recently was able to use the Walgreems Nicorette coupon and the MFGR coupon at WG. However, avoid shopping at WG like a plaigue. I am a pain patient and they used to treat me like a drug addict when I try to fill medications that I need so I can work and suport my family. One time the pharmacist even said out loud that he dies not have my specific medicatino, so everyone in the waiting area could hear it. WG sent me a $25 coupon when I transfrred my non pain neds to another pharmacy. Not worth it to me. Shop at CVS, not aother Walgreen. CVS service is better, stores are better and they treak ther customers with respect. If you go to another WG then you are supporting a company with poor customer service. Shop elsewhere, instead of supporting a company with pathetic customer service..

  30. Sunflower07

Hi guys, is is true that we can’t use manufacturers coupons on clearance items at Walgreens? I read their policy and it doesn’t mention it. A manager told me I couldn’t use the coupons on an item that was markdown or clearance. I’m confused! Thanks.

    • Jess

Sunflower07 YES you can use a mfc on clearance items. I do not know why anyone would tell you anything different. Sometimes an item will go on clearance at my store that is buy one get one half off and it has a manufacturers coupon attached to the bottle and the coupon works and so will the buy one get one half off. You can get an amazing deal this way!

  31. Sunflower07

Disregard my prevous comment I thought my comment from yesterday didn’t go through… thanks for everyones response.

  32. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Try using your wag ivc last. They mess up your other coupons if used first sometimes.

  33. Jess

I am a manager at Walgreens and the coupon system that we have is VERY confusing to customers and was to me at first…. All of our coupons will say Manufactures coupon if they print out at the register (catalina coupons) except for some AARP rewards. There are even times when RR’s wont work for orders such as, three boxes of cereal come to $5.23 and a customer wants to use a $5 RR and for some reason the computer will NOT take any coupon at all. If you have a smart and NICE manager they know how to trick the computer into taking the $5 off. It took me a long time to figure out how. RR’s wont cover tax but in that situation food is not taxable. Our computers are tricky sometimes. I couldn’t tell you why.

    • Beth

Question for the WAGS manager….I had a BOGO coupon for the Skinny Cow candy which was on sale for 2/$5 last week. The coupon beeped (of course), so the cashier called over the manager. He put the coupon through, but only took off $1.31….apparently the system rang the products in at $3.59 & $1.31 and said I could only get $1.31 off – I was not happy. What’s the scoop with this? I always have issues when I go to this particular Walgreens, so I wasn’t really surprised…they are not coupon friendly – but they had the TP in stock so I strayed from my wonderful Walgreens I regularly shop at. Never again….

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

that coupon was only on the single bars which was up to .99 so u commited coupon fraud the one for the boxs was a 1.00 off each

        • Beth

No, It was for the box of crisps – it was not the coupon from the newspaper insert, it was one from the internet. I know the difference and wasn’t trying to commit coupon fraud.

          • Beth

I love the Walgreens I regularly shop at…the people are helpful and quite pleasant. I make sure I fill out the surveys on the bottom of the receipts to let Walgreens know what a great team they put together at this location. On the other hand, this other Walgreens, which I won’t go to again, really does not like couponers. I’m not sure if they have some obnoxious couponers so take their feelings out on the rest of us or what. I’m not a shelf clearer, I use about 5 coupons a week at Walgreens (I just get stuff my family or friends will use). My coupon really was for the box, not the small bag. I know the coupon you are referring to – I am very conscientious about what coupons I use as I don’t like the “beep”, I find it very embarrassing.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

am sorry i wasnt aware there was any other coupons for that i think the problem may have been that they were ringing werid like one price for one and then something else for the second so the2/5 was done werid we always have to take the coupon for the less priced item in bg1g or big1 half off i know its dumb i agree it is it our dumb system

      • Leticia

I had the same problem with the sale of the HEAD & Shoulders a couple weeks ago 2 for $8 and get $2RR.. In one Walgreens the 1 H&S rings up at 6.. and the 2nd on 2 or something like that so with the BOGO they would only take of the $2off which wasnt that great. Since we alll KNOW that 8 divided by 2 =4.. Also This week A lot of ppls were having this same problem with the DOVe treatments the first 3 items that are scan first are prive at 4.49 and the last one is price 1.49 i think .. so you would have to scan the treatments first so the cashier would take the 4.49 and not the 1.49. on the BOGO MQ.

  34. joanne

Walgreens always seems to give me some problem. If the coupon is more than the amount they say I can’t use it, when they clearly should adjust the price down. They always do once they get the manager. I once had a coupon that said “can be used at Pick N’ Save ( my local grocery store),” and the lady was giving us the biggest attitude about it. The manager wasn’t there at the time so I wrote a letter and she apologized, saying the only way those coupons can’t be used is if it says “only” at that store. It did not.

  35. Katiria

I always have trouble with Walgreens, The deals never come out for me the way you post them , either I give them in the wrong order and the machine beeps or I need to have 1 item per coupon used or the rewards don’t print because I used a reward during the transaction, its always a hassle, I have better luck at CVS.

  36. joanne

I also do not like the register rewards program. They expire quickly and you can’t use them if you alread have the maximum manufacturer and store coupons. They try to advertise this program so much in their weekly ad, but It’s really just to make consumers think they are getting a good deal. You are not really getting money back if you get more register rewards than what the item cost. It’s good advertising, but people shouldn’t buy it. It’s kind of like Menards rebates. You mail them in only to get store credit-not cash. I was disappointed when I found that out.

  37. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Walgreens has become very difficult about using more than one coupon. I also was told by cashier that I had too many coupons and I could not combine with my register rewards. By far CVS is much easier to get the deals with. Cashiers at CVS happily take all the coupons and ask for tips on how to be a smart shopper.

  38. Barbara B

Our local Walgreen ad in Tucson doesn’t have the same wording as the example above. Ours mentions Register Rewards only. In fact we don’t even have a Cottonelle ad this week so it must vary by city.

  39. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Walgreens always has great deals but it seems that stuff sells out too quickly. I have to drive almost an hour to get to one and it’s a bit disappointing when the shelves are empty of the items that I want to purchase. Last week the Colgate toothpaste, Listerine rinse, Keri lotion, Lysol wipes, and Purex were all completely gone. Then I had problems at the register with my coupons. For the softsoap body wash I had Walgreens coupons as well as clipped coupons. The girl said that I couldn’t use both b/c they were both actually manufacturer coupons. She also wouldn’t let me purchase the Splenda deal that was listed on here b/c she said that the box didn’t have the word “essentials” on it that was listed on the coupon.

  40. dangelofamily

Thanks Collin for the post. I was so glad to take the ad to my local Walgreen’s and talk to the store manager and ask him again about the store policy. His response was that he had seen the MISPRINT in the ad but would honor the price “anyway.” They were out of the Cottonelle, so it didn’t matter. I did try the line about the fact that I couldn’t use the coupon at any other store, but he said they were still “in conjunction with” the manufacturer and could not be stacked. Life is too short to argue the point, but I try very hard to be an ethical couponer and follow all the rules. It’s just a matter of principle that THEY are the ones not following their own corporate rules. The ONLY reason I continue to shop there is the WONDERFUL cashiers!

I have yet to go to Walgreens to use my coupons but I have a Manufactured coupon for $1.00 instead of .75 so I will get my TP for $3.25…… yaaaahhhh!

It is so great to have some Walgreen’s Employees participate in this discussion. You guys/gals add a lot of credibility to the discussion and are an example of the best employees Walgreen’s hires.
As long as there are people in the know here… I do have a question about Walgreen’s rain check policy. Today I wanted to purchase the Omega Smart Super Krill Oil 60 ct for $10 with a $10 RR. They did not have any and when I was checking out, I asked for a rain check. The employee, who is super nice and pretty knowledgeable, told me that they do not give rain checks for “free items” and they probably won’t restock these items anyway. It didn’t make a lot of sense… they were promoting the product in their ad and it didn’t have any working about “while supplies last”. Didn’t want to get the manager involved until I did some homework.
Anyone have some insight into this rain check policy about “not for free items”?
    Thanks for your help…

What the employee probably meant (but worded incorrectly) is that we are unable to give rain checks for items that generate register rewards. That is because the manufacturer (not Walgreen’s) programs the catalina system to generate the rewards for a specific week only (the week that the sale is advertised in the circular.) If the store wrote you a rain check for the Krill Oil and you came back the following week and tried to redeem it, there is no way for us to force the RR to print. Hope that helps!

I have had so many problems using coupons and the employes giving me a hard time i gave up on walgreens! It is difficult to use more than one coupon and try and get rrs that it ia more than a bother than a reward!

The RR machine wasn’t working at my WG so they were adjusting the prices of the items down instead. Normally I would have cheered. But when I went to check out it wasn’t a good thing for me. I had the $10 conair hot stick (no coupons), the $10 Omega (they adjusted it to $0.01 bc of the RR that I would gave gotten, and a Revon nail polish (they adjusted to $0.99 bc of the RR I would have gotten). I handed over a $2 mfr q for the Omega and the $2 Revlon walgreens coupon). They wouldn’t take the $2 Omega bc it exceeded the value of the item. And the $2 revlon store coupon was adjusted down to $0.99. So I lost the ability to get my $3 overage.

Ok so my question doesnt really deal with walgreens.. But can you stack a MFG that says 2/$1 off with 2 store coupons? Cause with walmart they take competor coupons so I was wondering thanks. I know you can do it the other why but what about this way.
