Are those sweet & salty bars good? Are they chewy or hard like the normal nature valley bars?

    • ohmylanta

Yes, they’re amazing. They’re chewy, not hard.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They are amazing!!! The last time I went and bought a box of the cashew ones, and my girls got into them. They were gone in a day. Now I have to hide them.

  2. Trisha

I absolutely love the sweet and salty bars. They are chewy and come in almond, cashew, and peanut. I have $2 off 2 peelies and will definitely be picking up a few boxes.

  3. Trisha

If you buy 5 boxes, will the Walgreens coupon take off $2.50 or will it only deduct in multiples of 2?

    • Emma

      It will deduct 2.50

      • Rachel !

Do need more then one Walgreens coupon or do the cashier scan the coupon multiple times?

        • melissa

1 coupon will automatically deduct for however many items you have.

          • Rachel

I am newbie couponer at Walgreens and never used their coupons before. Great thanks Melissa! 🙂

        • Sam

Any of the coupons from the Walgreens monthly coupon book or weekly flyer do not need to be clipped out (you can save yourself some time by just opening the page in the flyer and asking the cashier to scan it). Additionally, a lot of cashiers know how to use a “short cut” from the barcode. It is the last 4 numbers (excluding the very last little number) it will usually be something like 1210 for the flyer and 5360 for the coupon book. If you are familiar with the cashiers at your local store, you can ask them if they know how to do it (very easy on the older model registers: type the number and hit enter) and then save yourself even more time by putting the coupon code on your shopping list and reading it out to the cashier. Some cashiers may find this to be convenient 🙂
Yes, you only need to scan the coupon once. But! (if they have the older style of register) it has to be scanned after all the items.
Please do spread the word that you do not need to clip a coupon for every item! I hate to see customers wasting their time, all we (walgreens cashiers) do is throw them out after we scan them!

    • sturgissaver

Keep in mind that (at least for this deal) Walgreens will charge $3.99 for the 1st box and $.01 for the second, so it’s best to buy in multiples of 2.

      • katee

the computer charges the items like that for the first two(because the sale is 2/$4), then the third, fourth etc, will ring up 2 dollars! so as long as you buy atleast two you dont need to buy in multiples 🙂

        • Joni

No, I bought 4 today, and it did it the same way with all 4. The first was $3.99, the second was $0.01, the third was $3.99, and the fourth was $0.01. So I assume a fifth would’ve been $3.99…

          • Alison

Same for me, 3.99 and .01 for each set

            • katee

oh thats weird, i work at wags and our computers ring in sales the way i described. all of the stores must be different then, im sorry for the confusion! 🙁

  4. Renee

The one variety not on sale-I went to 2 different stores-is the Roasted Almond Crunch that is gluten free! This is my kids fav…I got 2 boxes of the regular Oat n’ Honey and 2 boxes of the Peanut Sweet N’ Salty and got my $2 RR.

  5. ohmylanta

Thanks for posting this. I have like 8 of these nature valley coupons and I’ve been looking everywhere for a good deal to use them.

  6. Mo

So confused… had heard on other blogs that the Sweet & Salty weren’t producing a RR???

    • Joni

I bought the sweet & salty tonight and got the RR!

  7. ALICE

I thought you couldn’t use a coupon on a free item. (Orajel toothpaste)

    • CP

From their policy: When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.

  8. CP

Worked for me, got 3 of the Sweet n Salty Peanut, one Sweet n Salty almond and the RR printed. They ring up strange – $3.99 for one and .01 for the second, similar with the Post cereals, but it worked nonetheless. Also got the Oragel for my 9 month & 2 yr old. Thanks, Colin!

  9. Jayna

Just bought two of the Orajel My Way Toothpaste for Kids and my total with tax was $2.24! Great deal!

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have $1 coupons – not a fan of sweet and salty – will other varieties work too?

    • Amy

where did you get the $1 off coupons? thanks!

      • Trisha

There were $2 off 2 peelies on the boxes a month or two ago. I got mine at Publix.

    • Joni

Yep, my Wags had the RR tag on all varieties of the Nature Valley bars.

  11. AngieJB

These Sweet & Salty bars are delicious! Got 4 boxes, my Wags had at least 50 boxes left!

  12. Mo

Okay – I’m back LOL Guess this deal had gone up early on other blogs but either the bloggers didn’t have the info right on which day the RR would print or the readers weren’t paying attention to the deal’s details. I did get four boxes of the Sweet & Salty Almond variety (with extra Box Tops for Education on each – so be on the lookout!). $2 RR printed; since my husband wasn’t home from work yet w/his laptop and I only had mine, I printed two $0.60 q’s and two $0.50 q’s and paid $0.45 a box after the RR! Great deal – can’t wait to give them to my son’s teacher (they keep extra snacks on hand for the kiddos who forget/lose/don’t have snack at snack time). Thanks Collin!

  13. Dee

No RR printed out for me today when I bought the regular peanut granola bars but I already had a $2 off 2 boxes so it ended up being $.50 a box anyway. 🙂

    • Dee

oh never mind. i had to buy 3 or more boxes. LOL. no wonder it didn’t work.

  14. Gil

Did both the cereal deal and the Sweet n Salty 4 boxes. All went perfect.
Was at Kennesaw store on Wade Green.

    • Alison

Did you do them in the same transaction? Just wanted to make sure that both the rr’s would print

  15. Denise

    what is RR?

    • Emma

An RR (Register Reward) it’s like “walgreens money”. You get an RR because you bought a specific item. You usually have 2 weeks to spend that RR, and you CANNOT use it on gift cards, phone cards, dairy, alcohol, tobacco. You cannot use an RR to get the same exact RR, and when using the RR the price of the item you are buying or items has to be above the RR amount because Walgreens does not give cash back.

  16. Carol

I did the deal tonight, got 4 boxes and $2 RR printed on sweet & salty almond Definitely no shortage at my store tonight either.

  17. ginarose

I couldn’t get out until Tues and SURPRISE! My store was fully stocked too! On everything in the ad! I was shocked because if I don’t get there on Sunday, everything is gone. Maybe the powers that be have been reading all of the complaints about low stock. LOL!

    • Emma

My store kept getting complaints about being out of stock by Sunday afternoon, so new policy one RR (you can get more than one different RR item, but not more than one same RR) per person per day. I think more stores will enforce that rule now.

  18. Thuy

It’s not working in TX 🙁
Where did you get the information about RR? I couldn’t find it in the ad, so I couldn’t argue with them.

    • Renee

It wasn’t in the ad-it was listed on a catalina that said the deal started today. I bought 4 and got $2RR in Ohio.

    • Beth

This deal worked just fine for me in the Houston area yesterday.

    • Brandy

I just went this afternoon in the East Texas area and it worked for me too. Bought 4 Sweet & Salty Peanut and got the $2 RR. Hopefully you can find it somewhere!

  19. Ehrin

Okay, I don’t often shop Walgreens but am tempted to go for this deal and the toilet paper one. If I do one this deal first, can I then use the RR to help pay for the toilet paper and still get the RR for that deal?

    • Thuy

      Yes, you can!

    • Ap

just remember that the RR will count as a man. coupon and you can only use one man. coupon per item, so you may have to add a “filler” item

      • Ehrin

Ooh, thank you, I probably would have forgotten that… It did bring up another question i’m not sure about too… Is the coupon to item ratio just for manufacturer coupons & not the Walgreens Q’s?

        • katee

its just for manufacturer coupons. you can use all applicable walgreens coupons and one manufacturer coupon per product. so say you bought two boxes of granola bars and used the $.60 manufacturer coupon off of each one, and you also had a $1 register reward you wanted to use, you would need to add a “filler” item to your transaction to make the ratio 3 manfacturer coupons to three products. HTH!

          • Ehrin

            Yes!! Thank you!!

          • CoffeeB

I was just at WAGS. I had two boxes of Nature Valley Granola bars and two coupons plus one Walgreen coupon from the coupon book. She made me add a filler. So, I don’t know if it was just her or if that’s the stardard.

            • katee

nope thats just her, if you only had the 2 manufacturer coupons you only need two products, you dont need a filler….i work there 🙂

            • CoffeeB

But then I stacked w/a wags cp. That’s why she made me get a filler. Is that correct?

  20. Melissa

Make sure you check the expiration dates! I bought two boxes of fiber one bars yesterday and one is already expired, the other expires next week. I’ll be exchanging them both, but I’ve had this happen before too so they apparently don’t check dates very often.

    • Gil

WGS is notorious for selling expired food items. Watch carefully when choosing things…esp.milk & eggs, if u get those there.

      • katee

yup dates NEVER get checked at my store its awful, just milk(sometimes) its pretty bad.

  21. isis5102

Did the Sweet & Salty granola bars deal it worked, got $2 RR. Went back and used the $.75/2 for the Oats N Honey Granola Bars (Since my hubby likes them), got $2 RR for that too.

  22. Linda

I tried this deal in Carthage, MO and it would not print the register reward if i used a Nature Valley coupon, so I just did it without the coupon and they were $1 a box that way. Sure would be better if I could use my $.75/2 coupon. That was Wednesday around noon. So confusing when it works for some and not for others. My cashier tried it both ways and without coupon was the only way it would print a RR……………….is there something wrong?

  23. Ariel

bought 4 boxes of nature valley granola bars, 4 boxes of post honey bunches of oats, and a bag of ricola cough drops. everything worked great. got my RR for the granola and cereal and they even took all three coupons for the cough drops without any question. I was shocked! 🙂

  24. Darcy

for the orajel toothpaste, i could only print one of each coupon, so will this deal still work, or does the buy one get one need to be for the same toothpaste?

  25. cheapomom

    • cheapomom

OH AND THE freebie cough drops 🙂

  26. Heather

got these deals today! thank you 🙂

  27. Kelly

I got 4 boxes today, 2 of the fruit and nut chewy and 2 of the dark chocolate and nut chewy, used 4 – 50 cent coupons from one of the GM inserts and the Wags coupon and got my $3 RR back – 50 cents per box!

  28. shanna_saves

Forgot my $1 off wag coupon but I still got 4 boxes for a good price $4 and I used my $2 rr to get the toothpaste and nivea lip gloss for 2.29! All in all great deal!

  29. thebeth

This deal did not work for me at all. They rung up $3.99 for boxes 1 & 3, and $.01 for boxes 2 & 4. I used the $.50 & $.60 coupons for the 4 boxes of the peanut ones, the only variety they had in stock. I wasn’t able to use the Oct booklet coupon because we’d already had to start the transaction over due to coupon issues with the register, and they would have had to start over again in order to use it, so I decided to just continue without it.

Then we waited for the RR and nothing. I mentioned it to the cashier & manager who were working with us on the transaction, and they were looking all over the ad, next week’s ad & on Walgreens.com. I had told them that it was an unadvertised RR deal. They said it would have to be advertised either in the ad or on the shelf so that they would know about it as well. I mentioned the Keri lotion deal from a couple months ago, which was also unadvertised, where it was not marked, rang up at a lower price, and received RR. They still would not believe that an RR deal could not be advertised somewhere in which they would be informed of it as well.

Since it didn’t print & the machine was on, there was nothing they could do without proof of the deal. I said I would double-check at home and they said I could come back to get a refund on it if the RR deal actually was valid. Is there anything I can print out and show to them as proof? I already know it’s not a CouponNetwork deal, so I’m not sure where else I would find it.
