This is a message I found on the local coupon Facebook chat group that I follow from the Walgreen’s Manager, letting us know a deal is coming up and asking if us “couponers” were planning to purchase much or not and giving his contact info at the store to let him know if he should order large quantities for us. I have NEVER seen customer service like this! Especially toward the couponing crowd. I love it!!! I had actually stopped shopping that store and am now totally motivated to get back in there. What if all managers were that helpful?!?!

    Not here… Lol

    • Ketsy

I think might as well in order to not run out of a product on their ad. At the same time this is far than going above or beyond… I couldnt see myself or my husband coming home from work to cater at customeers from my computer… What next, drive the stuff to people’s home? Its nice for those in the area and enjoy it. Things like that rarely happen and when they do usually something goes wrong and it ends.

      • xb

Someone from Payless actually DID drive something to my home once! I’m still amazed!

        • Ketsy

Lol. They used to do groceries in my area which was great when i was on bed rest and single mom, however they stopped because people wouldnt tip and were not home and were down right mean. I think some pharmacies do drugs but only to special patients? Nevermind I think people were lazy and using the sustem so now they have to or their insurance has to pay for those services. Sad… Also what happened to full service gas stations… I loved those.

  2. Meredith

So awesome! Where is this store? I like the managers & cashiers at my local Walgreens & Rite Aid, but this would be even better.

    • Laura

After a quick google search I figured out that this store is in Rochester, MN. In my area code but over an hour away.

  3. jessicaencinias@yahoo.com

awesome guy! Too bad he’s not the manager of my walgreens!

    • mkw

      I know this guy. .. he’s a great manager.

  4. Holly

This has to be Rochester, MN…am I right?

  5. Laura

This store must be close to me because it is in my area code!

  6. April

Wow!! What a nice way of paying it back to the coupon followers.

  7. Nikki G

I wish my Walgreens was like that. Mine has made me swear off shopping at Walgreens.

  8. Melissa

WOW! That is very different from how my Walgreens treats couponers. I REFUSE to even shop there at this point. It is the closest drugstore to me and I’ll still drive the extra 2 miles to avoid it.

    • I Love Shoes

I agree with you 100%. I will drive the extra couple of miles. I don’t even bother to look over the Walgreens sales paper…This store manager seems like an awsome person. Hopefully they may hire more people like him. After th word gets out on their uniform friendly customer service, I will start shopping at Walgreens again.

    • GG

Same here… is not worth the hassle!!!!
I do not like Walgreens at all !!!
Unfriendly cashiers, coupon beeping, bad customer service, you have to have more products than coupons even if you are using a register reward, short expiration dates for RR, they wont take 1 day expired coupon, etc, etc, etc.

CVS system is way better!!!!!!! I’ll drive more just to get to CVS even thou I has to pass by 2 Walgreen on my way there.

  9. nicole

This is EXACTLY why I LOVE the store I coupon at in Yucca Valley, CA. The store, its employees, managers and especially the store manager are wonderful to couponers, go above and beyond by helping with transactions and even special ordering items!

    • Elena

I so MISS living in “The Stumps”. I loved Yucca 🙂

    • tanja

I absolutely agree! Walgreens in Yucca is the best Walgreens I have ever shopped at!

  10. Kristina

That is wonderful! Lets hope all the store managers do this! My closest is nice, but not that nice!

  11. April

My sister works there! Sean is pretty awesome and it sounds like half of the people who work at that store are couponers.

  12. smellyann

Wow! I’ve never seen such a thing, either!

  13. Fabiola

I don’t know to me it sounds a little sarcastic, but I hope he had nothing but good intentions. I had the greatest experience at a Walgreens wete I found the clearance lotion for $1.99 but forgot my coupons but for such aa large bottle I was willing too pay that for it, the cashier pulled out 2 coupons and scanned them in so I got them for 99 cents each. I thanked her and now its were I try to shop all the time

  14. animity

    WOW!

  15. Callie Ryan

This is amazing customer service! I wish I lived there, because I would change my shopping habits to include Walgreens if this was the help offered. Unfortunately, it seems that no good deed goes unpunished. Hopefully, shoppers at his store notify his management so he is rewarded for going the extra mile to make life easier for his customers:)

  16. chelsea

There’s a CVS manager here in MN that does this too. He even asked if we want to pre-order dawn soaps for the cash card this week. His goal is to sell 1200 dawn soaps this week. i was shocked when I found out.

  17. thatsnotchocolate

No way! I’m not a Walgreens shopper, but that is my town!!! I’ll have to start up. The reason I stopped is because by the time I would get there, the shelves would be cleared.

  18. michelle

I only wish these companies opened there eyes and realized great customer service goes along way the attitudes I get sometimes fustrate me but there are some good ones that keep me going back the cashiers needs to realize that this aint there money its ours and thats why we are trying to save what we can so on that note first off collin thanks for all the great help you provide and thank u to the the cashiers and managers that help us save thank you straight from my heart my family and I finally can relax and enjoy life thanks to couponing

  19. anita

I had a complaint last week with Walgreens in regards to the Beauty sample box. I had gotten the coupon, however when I went on line to redeem it, the site said they were all gone.
I emailed Corp. and told them they should not be releasing the coupon if they were out.
I got a voice mail today from Waalgreens, saying they would honor the coupon and my box is on its way!
I love m local store, and really appreciated the call from Corp.

  20. Carrie

Awesome! I’m not particularly a fan of Wags but my CVS manager even has my phone number to call me with sales and will pre-order for me all the time. Never had any problems so of course I always complete all the register surveys and giving them flying colors. I love great customer service like that!!

    • nic

We only have 1 cvs in town and the general manager has bern terrible. He wouldn’t even scan my oil

      • janel

Ditto one cvs hate has the worst manager and they’re so rude to couponers hate that.

      • C

The CVS by me has the meanest cashiers ever. I’ve been accused of photocopying coupons on more than one ocassion. I now drive out of my way to another CVS

  21. ashley

The walgreens we just moved away from 🙁 the manager gave me her card a few yrs ago and told me to email her if i was plannin on doinf multiple trans or going to stock up on something. Shed get my items in stock and use my and the other couponers stock up lists to preorder things and would tell me when she would be in so i could breeze thru checkout… i miss that!

  22. lynn

Totally off the subject but does anyone have an idea how long this will keep? I don’t see an expiry date and I only drink tea in summer. Will it keep that long? Thanks!

  23. Barb

    that’s great

  24. Toni

Wow! I wish my Walgreens was like that. I guess I shouldn’t complain, mine is SO much betterthan it used to be. I don’t mind going since they have become coupon friendly.

  25. Sarah

This is my Walgreens and he is so nice! He is the reason I shop at this Walgreens over the other one in Rochester.

  26. Shayla

I miss my Walgreens #7940. Since having kids, I had to cut back on # of stores and deals I take advantage of. Found that CVS had more to offer me so I strictly stay with them, unless I have the occasional photo order to pickup from Wags. The manager was always so nice…shout out to Rob! ps. love my CVS store #6155. The manager Katie orders stuff weekly for me, without missing a beat. Love, love, love managers with great customer service, plus love all the cashiers too that helps A LOT!

  27. Sammi

One of our walgreens stores here in conway, AR is wonderful like that! The cashiers, workers, and managers go above and beyond to be so courteous and helpful to couponers! I wish that all stores were like this!

  28. Suzy

    Wow!! What a champ!! 🙂

  29. Sandy

Attaboy Sean! I gie him credit for his ambitious attempts to drive up his stores sales. Hope he gets a promotion soon for all his efforts.

  30. edy

My cvs manager let’s me know when stuff goes on clearance and shows me the ad so he can order plenty for all the cuponers and his other non cuponers. He even order 3 pallets of cokes for this weekend and more on tuesday so everyone can get on the deals!!

  31. Beth

Wow! What a great manager to go above & beyond. I have completely given up shopping Walgreens here (Omaha) because they never have what I go in for. They are very poorly stocked, and I have experimented at shopping at several in the area, and all are disappointing. Wish Walgreens would just well-stock all their stores with their great sale items in advance so we could scoop up these great deals.

    • Sam

I know i live in omaha and they refuse to take coupobs at most of them! Its very upsetting.

      • Beth

Makes me sad that you both are having similar experiences. I thought maybe it was just the Walgreens I was going into. Sounds like it’s a common problem here, perhaps. 🙁

    • Maryann

I’m near there too and find mine pretty poorly stocked too. I don’t coupon there a *lot* so I don’t if our local mgt is okay or not. The cashiers seem really nice. I’ve only used a few coupons at a time at mine.

      • Maryann

Also, they built a CVS directly across the street from my closest Walgreens. Every single time I go in there the red coupon machine is broken. I don’t go every day, of course, but it’s still weird that on random days it never works.

  32. Darcie

I’m new to Rochester, MN…where can I find this forum? Thanks!

    • Laura

I’d like to know too! 🙂

  33. Tina in east Texas

My CVS manager is just like this guy! LOVE him. And I tell him so often. 🙂

  34. Melanie

Wow, if any of the managers at the stores in my area were like this, I would shop there way more than I do now. They never have stock of anything unless you go at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning. No thanks! Walgreens corporate should pay attention!!

  35. Renee

    Wow, amazing!

  36. Lolita

Wow, that’s cool! I hope he doesn’t get in trouble because of this being posted! I think his store just gained a bunch of fans!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  37. Crescent City Couponer

I’m speechless. Are you sure this isn’t a spoof??? My Walgreen’s manager says things like “you’re not gonna get what you want today.”

However, the pharmacy manager at the store closeset me is great.

  38. Jennifer

I am from Rochester, Mn and coupon at this store and know this manager! He is a super nice guy and he is always helpful when I coupon at this store! Walgreens is frequently out of the products that pairs up with coupons and it is nice to see that he is going the extra mile to make the couponers happy!

  39. cannielle

I need to move to Rochester, MN then.God bless him.

  40. Ashley

Bet ya that store brings in more money than the strict stores. Good for him!!!! I’m about 70 minutes from Rochester….might have to plan a huge trip next time I’m out that way 🙂

  41. Mela

This makes me sad but only because I had the worst experience with a Rite Aid store manager on a couple of occasions this past month. First, he acted as if he was doing me a ‘favor’ by letting me use a Purex manu coupon that had the CVS logo on it. Next, I had to do a return because one of the cashiers made a mistake (we all do, I wasn’t mad) and he acted as if it was the biggest deal and so much work for him to do that. Then, finally, today I went in to grab a Dryel starter kit and he tried to tell me that the coupon (which clearly states ‘kit’ or ‘refill’) wasn’t for what I was getting but he would ‘let’ me use it anyway. He was just all around unpleasant. I’m done going to that store, even though they seem to be the most well stocked and I’m seriously considering not shopping at Rite Aid at all. I love CVS here. I’ve never had a problem with any of the local stores.

  42. Ame

I live in a predominantly minority neighborhood, and customer service sucks in every store. Everybody is doing you a favor and employees are not afraid to shout at nor insult you.
They would probably laugh in your face if you tried to order extra.

  43. Emily

In my town, the customer service and friendliness at Walgreens far exceeds that of CVS or Rite Aid… maybe not as far as this manager’s, but enough that I would shop there over the other stores, just because they are so nice. Every worker you bump into asks if you need help with anything, and they are very patient with many coupons/transactions. At Rite Aid especially, it seems like I always got snotty cashiers who would sigh while they scanned the coupons!

  44. bhw

The Richmond, VA Carytown location has the best cashier in the world–Amber. She will go out of her way to tell you what is on sale and what coupons will match. She signed me up for the Beauty Club and does other nice things when I come in the store. Unfortunately she is moving out of the area.

One day Amber told me the Panera across the street was giving away free bread and nice cloth grocery bags. I went to Panera and got Amber the bread & bag and brought it back to her at CVS. She was thrilled!

I made her a nice goodie bag with a bunch of samples/freebies (probably over a dozen products) as a good-bye present. I had also written a letter to corporate praising her (she was very grateful and said they put it in her employee file).

When you find a great employee at one of these stores, go over and above to let them know how much you appreciate them. They will give you back ten-fold!

  45. tracy

I love my CVS. I routinely do the store survey and brag on the cashiers. They also always have the sale items and, if not, I know there will be more on Thursday. I agree that Walgreens never has sale items in stock and Rite Aid has become more rigid on their rewards program so I usually skip them.
Wish Walgreens would read these posts.

  46. Christa

That’s like – died & gone to couponing heaven, lol

  47. Brittany

This is awesome! He is capitalizing on couponers in a way that all stores should. He sees the value of getting people into the store–he doesn’t view couponers as a bunch of crooks out to cheat the system; he sees them as real customers! I never understood why so many cashiers and managers view couponers as criminals. They get reimbursed for the coupons, so why not drive your sales up by being “coupon friendly”?

  48. Krystal

That’d be great….if only I couldn’t get fired for doing that.

  49. Laura

I had no idea that so many people from Rochester, MN read this blog! 🙂 I can also say that I recognize Sean from my local Walgreens and he is very nice and helpful to us couponers.

  50. Laurie

WOW!!!!Sure wish I had managers like SEAN! Last week in my Walgreens they refused to let me use a coupon that said “Redeemable at Walmart” IT DID NOT SAY “ONLY at Walmart” and they acted like I was a criminal for trying to use the coupon.

Then there is my local RiteAid which is filled with a bunch of women “coupon NAZIS” the worst being the manager and assistant managers who act like you are always committing a crime when you use a legitimate coupon. I have finally taken to calling corporate each and every time and hopefully the managers will get relocated some day. Why can’t they see that it is good for their store all around if they give good customer service and are friendly towards those of us who need to make our money go as far as possible? It would be a win-win for everyone!
