Calling all Michaels shoppers! You may want to to swing by your nearest store to see if they are offering up $2 grab bags! My local store in Boise, Idaho didn’t really have $2 “grab bags”, but they did have lots of items priced at just $2 (and many of these items normally go for well over $20!). Plus, check out what a few Hip2Save readers spotted:

From reader, Jennifer:

I just got back from Michaels. I was looking for something for my son’s school project and when I walked in the door, I got totally sidetracked by a bin of grab bags. I started to walk away when my 7-year-old son, Adam, announced loudly, “Mom, look! There are MORE bins!” I totally would have missed two more huge bins of grab bags! We bought 7 bags, and when I was leaving, I noticed they had just wheeled out a flat of Wrapping Paper Cutters for $2 each! I got one for myself and one for my parents.

We walked out spending $18 plus tax and got a TON of stuff, some of it slightly bigger items which would have easily cost more than the entire haul! Definitely worth the trip. We were at the Encino, CA store. The bins are currently right inside the door on either side. Thanks a bunch for all you do!

From reader, Mary:

Wanted to share that I found a ton of grab bags at Michaels which are marked for $2 each. I picked up one for the fun of it and found a lot of Christmas goodies. Definitely got my money’s worth! Some items included were: gift bags, bows, note cards, small gift boxes, rubber stamps and fun golf ball ornaments. -Mary from MN

From reader, Nicole:

  2. Deon

I love when they do this…I got two huge bags of Duck Dynasty stuff last time lol. I’ve never watched the show but the coffee mugs and night lights have worked great!

  3. Kim

I scored today!!! I got a grab bag and it had 26 items in it. Many of the items were from their dollar section but I also had a couple of more expensive items. I looked through the bags for a long time and some of them were all Christmas stuff, but I ended up with one that didn’t have much Christmas stuff it in at all. I’m probably going back tomorrow to grab a couple more.

Are the bags see thru . How can you look thru them?

  4. Chelsey

My Michaels in WI didn’t have any Christmas items left!

    • Jennifer

Chelsey, Which WI store were you at? I’m thinking of hitting up Brookfield and/or West Allis.

  5. Heather

I scored a ton of fabulous bags at my 2 closest stores! They are all sorted and ready to use next year. My store had bags and bags of the “dollar spot” type items. Great non-seasonal items as well as Christmas decor. Amazing deals! Some of my bags were $200-400 retail, all were at least $100+! I spent about $40 ( plus tax) and got several thousand dollars worth of stuff. I will donate 1/2, give 1/4 to my mom, and keep the stuff I loved.

  6. Rlene

Darn! I was just there this afternoon and didn’t see it? What aisles are these on? Thanks.

    • Heather

One store had them in bins outside the other was packing them in the Christmas aisle and I would just wait and grab the good ones. πŸ˜‰

      • Rlene

        Thank yoΓΌ

  7. tanu

Heather, are you talking about some, other store or Michael for the bags?

    Thanks

    • Heather

      Yes, Michaels.

  8. Stephanie

    Got a $70 wreath for $2.

    • nicolegammeter

      Sweet! πŸ™‚

  9. Judy Trac

Seem like everyone get on deals while I never see them

  10. Amie

I’ll swing by today to check out the wreaths but I bought up a TON of the stuff for next year goody bags at .30 each. Im set for next years bags though with. Cute little craft and some other small trinkets for 4 kiddos goody bags!!

  11. Traci

I sold some of the stuff I got in last years after Chrismas grab bags on ebay this year. The stuff that I couldn’t use.

  12. Stacey

I would love one of those gift wrap cutters!

  13. Brittany

If you want a house filled with junk all in the name of a good deal, buy up lots of these! πŸ™‚ seriously though, I bought a couple last year and they were nothing but junk and about 1000 Christmas tree ornament hooks that I tossed this year finally.

    • Jennifer

Yes some of it is stuff that is on the cheaper side, but you have to look the bags over carefully. Often the bag isn’t tied shut all the way so you can see down into it a bit or you can feel what’s in it (like the huge candles I felt yesterday but didn’t need). You can find some good stuff instead of 90 packs of ornament hooks. It’s hard to see everything I got in the photo above but I got huge pads of scrapbook paper which we use a lot for school and our business, garden flags which I love, the huge snowman Christmas countdown decoration I missed when it was on sale, huge rolls of mesh to make wreaths, etc. I was pretty happy. I will share some of the good stuff with my mom and school and what I can’t use I will donate. For a couple bucks, it’s definitely worth doing. Maybe next time just feel them out a little more, kinda like when my son wants a particular Lego Minifigure in the sealed foil packets you can’t see through, lol. You just have to feel around and use your imagination!

    • Heather

I was lucky and was there when they were packing them, so I grabbed the good ones as they went. One of my bags had a pile of screen savers for iphone 5’s (we have 4 of them at our house), car chargers, iphone cords, vinyl wall frames (usually $20 each set), ribbon and more. My other bag was packed with monogram note cards and letter ornaments that were not Christmas, which I will use as gift toppers. I definitely got some junk I will donate, but I scored buckets of fabulous stuff for $40. It is totally hit or miss.

  14. Lindsay

    Yay more junk!!

  15. Jen

I was not that impressed with the bags I got last year, except for the kids craft items. This year however I am so glad I went! My bag had 2 kids christmas DVDs, 4 Wilton’s candy mold sets, 2 giant containers of holiday foam stickers, party bags, decorative paper straws, a Lemax figurine of kids sledding (perfect for our chistmas village set-up), a 12″ decorative gold birdcage, faux poinsettias, and 16 ornaments (8 3D papermache stars, 4 white ceramic crosses, and 4 cute foam penguin and snowmen), and a roll of decorative mesh. Not disappointed in my bag this year.

  16. SS

Wow-those artificial plants/flowers are a steal of a deal! Amazing!!

    • nicolegammeter

      They sure are! πŸ™‚

  17. Andrea

Got my kiddos a sled! And I grab bag that had tons of cookie decorating kits.. Yay!

    • nicolegammeter

      Awesome! πŸ™‚

  18. Jessica

Thanks for the heads up on this deal as I don’t often go to Michael’s. Picked up 4 bags and love sorting through them now. With 3 kids I’m sure the kids crafts will be used. I feel for under $9 it’s a good deal πŸ™‚

    • nicolegammeter

      You’re welcome, Jessica! πŸ™‚

  19. Deon

Got three bags filled with 12Γ—12 scrapbooking paper books. These normally are around 10$ each. Also a lot of note cards and red bows πŸ™‚ I also got a really nice wicker basket.

    • nicolegammeter

      πŸ˜€

  20. Susan

My store had grab boxes for $2! Our city doesn’t allow plastic bags, so I guess they used boxes. Each one holds about 2-3 of the plastic grab bags would hold. Lots of great stuff. Clear stamps, craft kits for the kids, paper pads, pens, wired ribbon, rope garland, pretty scroll ornamant hooks even a non-Christmas themed scrapbook album. Definitely worth the $4 I spent.

    • nicolegammeter

      That’s great! πŸ™‚

  21. NauticaM

All good people out there, this might be a little off topic, but if any of you score in this lovely deals or just have and would be willing to trade, I’m looking to buy the glass letters that Michaels (and also Target had) during this Xmas season. They are just letter initials that were sold as Christmas tree decorations. I need 2 letters U and one O in red glass. If any of you happen to have those and will be willing to ship them to Utah, I would greatly appreciate that. I have $75 in Gymbucks (or $20 in TinyPrints or tons of any other good coupons or I can just pay for them) that you can have right now and I will pay for shipping. I will be using those for wedding decoration and really need those 3 letters πŸ™‚ Thank you for your help! Please email me to: nauticamarine at rambler dot ru

    • Heather

My store in UT had a ton, but they don’t bag glass items in the grab bags.

      • NauticaM

Heather, where in Utah are you? I went to every Target and Michaels in SLC, West Valley, Midvale, Draper, Bountiful, Layton and Ogden. They did have some letters left, but I could not find Us and Os πŸ™
I’m willing to drive there if they still have the letters.

  22. michelle

My closest Michaels had absolutely nothing. Weird. Was kinda bummed. Maybe somebody bought them all.

  23. Denise

FYI – If you still need calendars, Michaels has them for 39 cents! So many left, like kittens, butterflies, outdoors. There are also Spongebob and other Nickelodeon calendars, but I didn’t check the price. They also have 3 piece sets (calendar, mini-calendar, and planner) for 59 cents!

  24. carmen

My store in freehold nj had a good selection still

  25. Freebie

My store in Louisville, KY had lots of bags. I bought 4 & scored some great items. 3 large rolls of wide ribbon, a Christmas plaque valued at 19.99, 4 rolls of non xmas wrapping paper, initial note cards ( great for bday or stocking stuffers ), lots of xmas cards, a few wooden initials, gift tags, a few mini ornaments, ink pens, a decorative spoon, a picture frame, and more. Estimating I scored about 250.00 in items for my 8.00 investment. Some stuff I will use, some I will gift, some I will pass on to other family members to use. Lots of fun sorting thru what I got though. Thanks Collin for letting me know.

  26. vicky

Got 4 centerpieces for next Christmas πŸ™‚ 300 retail price for 8 dollars. Thanks. I cannot wait for December πŸ™‚

  27. ms

Still 4 bins of grab bags in Wyomissing, PA

  28. Brittany jenkins
