In August of 2014 Keurig Green Mountain® replaced the standard Keurig K-Cup® brewers with a new version 2.0 which only allows “Authorized K-Cups®” to work by visually identifying a special ink on the lidding. They sent me a clip in each of my boxes last week. (I use their monthly auto-ship program.) Hanging on to them in case I upgrade or have a friend that needs one. This is the only coffee I use now. Used to order their coffee from Amazon, but I prefer ordering directly from them. I love this company. <3

My husband works at Costco and he said they had gotten to the point of telling customers at check out that it only takes the k-cups with the seal from kurig because they had had so many customers return the unit just because of that reason.

Did you read anything about the gracious company that sent you this item free of charge? Instead of conforming their lids to match Keurigs new label readers, they want everyone to have the “freedom” to use anything they want. This is a family owned business, their picture is at the bottom. I have never even heard of them, just spent 30 seconds ordering myself one then browsing the next page. Why would you rip off not only the (stupid) eBay customer, but also this generous company that could otherwise be selling the attachment themselves. Instead they are offering it for free to anyone, including people like you. I hope you do feel bad and maybe you should place an order with the company, or make a donation in their name with the money you stole.

Things are really upside down in this thread. This “freebie” defeats the intellectual property of the machine you bought from Green Mountain Keurig. If you want to do that with your machine fine,
But these guys are in it for their won profit. They want to sell their product without licensing the v2.0 technology. That is neither fair nor nice.
I get it that this “authorization” is a bit heavy handed. But the way to deal with that is to refuse to purchase brewing machines that require authorization.
Bonez did nothing wrong selling this on eBay. I might do just the same. Before you criticize Bonez, you might ask if this “promotion” fits with the the others on this site. I think it was misguided, but hey… it’s not my blog.
I have a regular keurig, but I’m told by a 2.0 user that the easiest ‘work around’ on this is to save the foil ‘top’ (peel off) from a Keurig-approved k-cup, then just lay it on top of the ‘other’ brand of k-cup before closing the compartment. Apparently, there’s a photo-sensor that ‘sees’ the approved brand and just laying the foil top fixes the issue. Hope this helps someone.

This method has worked for my father in law. You can also affix the outer white edge to an eko-brew to create a refillable K Cup that works with 2.0.
There is a YouTube video that shows you how to hack the 2.0 if you don’t get this. It’s basically just cutting the label off the new k-cups and using them. Or buy the solo fill 3… Hot glue a label on the area where it reads… And you can use your own coffee. I received one of these but I wouldn’t stoop so low as to sell it on EBay…😳

This seems a bit heavy handed….I prefer the mesh bags and can’t imagine with wanting to deal w glue and snap on items 🙁
Yes they still sell the regular Keurig, I have one and glad I do, I got if for a Christmas present 2014, I guess it is up to the individual what they want, but I don’t think that everyone knew about this issue before hand, but I still stay on the green side by using the reusable cups where I can use my own coffee because buying those k cups are expensive and they fill up the land fills and are not biodegradable
