Got one of these for Xmas… It was for a $20 gift exchange and I didn’t think it was worth $5… I really wouldn’t pay $2 for the whole thing… Sorry. The ONE piece of Ghirardelli chocolate was good, I guess. Lol

I was waiting for something like this to send as a thank you to a doctor’s office. It was so cheap I was able to send two! Thank you!

Why do you send to doctors office? They are doing their jobs and getting huge fees.

If you use that logic… Why tip a waitress or hairdresser? They’re just doing their job and are getting paid for it. As a healthcare professional I think it was a very sweet idea to give the doctors office a gift!

Nicely said! Agreed to each his or her own…

My doctor saved my life when I was pregnant with my son. He actually didn’t start seeing me until I was 36 weeks pregnant and I didn’t feel the doctor I had was doing his job. The new doctor gave me the facts and actually looked into my condition. He had a right to refuse me because I was 36 weeks pregnant and could have been a malpractice suite for him. I would have paid him whatever he asked. So sometimes it’s a little more then you think… Try to think outside the box instead of having tunnel vision.

because sometimes you are another doctor, and they send your office referrals for things they can not do. so you want to thank them for sending lucrative business your way.
or because they went above and beyond to help you (such as you broke a tooth right after business hours on Friday and they squeezed you in and stayed late to fix it instead of making you suffer & wait until coming in Monday for normal business hours.)
or because they are working at a reduced rate or gratis due to knowing your family, and you offer to pay, but the doctor is too nice, and you want to show your appreciation for continuing to adjust your daughter’s braces for free, even though you are perfectly willing to pay a fair price.
or because your OB purposely missed her flight to deliver your first baby, even though you knew in advance she was scheduled to start her vacation before your due date. but she saw some last-minute unexpected complications and wanted to be there for you instead of leaving you in the hands of an unfamiliar on-call doctor. she missed a day of her vacation with her dying father in Hawaii that she had planned months in advance.
could be a thousand reasons…impossible to list all the reasons a person might deserve a special gift of thanks.

@ Amy, seriously? You would tip someone who makes you food (nothing wrong with that), but NOT someone who could be saving your life – it wasn’t even a tip, just a small gift? That logic makes no sense. Reminds me of the episode of scrubs where the DR. walks around with a tip jar, saying that if the person who makes his coffee gets tips, he should get MORE tips for saving lives. Of course, it doesn’t work that way. Not all medical people get paid highly. I’m not saying medical staff should be tipped, but it was a nice gesture, and it makes sense to thank the people assisting with your health.

Maybe they went above and beyond.

That’s very thoughtful! They spend their time helping others and it’s nice to be appreciated.

I sent my doctor’s office flowers, birth announcements and hand-written thank you notes for each doctor on my team after my son’s birth. I lost my first child at 23 weeks so my subsequent pregnancy was high risk and they did all they could to make sure he came in to this world healthy and well. I didn’t view it as a “tip” – I viewed it as the least I could do. I know they were doing their jobs but I had to try to thank them for giving me the greatest gift in the world.

During my dad’s lengthy illness he regularly brought donuts to the parking valets and other folks who made it easier for him at the hospital as well as edible arrangements for nursing staffs.

If someone goes the extra mile for you when you are sick and hurting you feel very grateful. And many of those folks don’t make big money.

Very thoughtful of your Dad. I hope he is feeling better now.
