In the FAQ’S it sounds like they just trash the bikes(maybe they scrap them?). Not super Eco friendly. Maybe they’ll accept broken bikes.

That stinks. I was hoping they went to needy kids or something.

My thoughts exactly… Growing Facebook online community yard sale groups, Craig’s list, consignment, etc. are probably the reason for these trade-in events. They’re doing what they can to shrink their competition’s supply, which brings more buyers to them as well as drives the competition’s prices up, which in turn sends even more customers to them as the customer considers the shrinking price difference between used and new. They have every right to do this, but i for one choose not to participate. There are plenty of people who would love to buy used bikes for about the amount you’d save by trading in. I also know selling is not doable for everyone. Just be thoughtful about whether you choose to participate.

What’s the point of giving them a bike if they aren’t going to use it for anything?

Did this one Sunday right when toys r us opened. Brought in 2 bikes and bought 2 brand new ones. One of the bikes I brought in was broken and they didn’t care. I only purchased 2 – $100 bikes. I got 60 bucks off and then my friend opened a cc there to shop and when applying for a cc you get a coupon for 15% off everything all day. So 2 bikes cost me $126 after tax. I have to happy kids.
