Dave Ramsey has completely changed our lives! I haven’t read this particular book and we didn’t take his course but we just simply applied some of his advice (mainly the envelope system) to our everyday life. We are now debt free, except for mortgage and pay cash for everything…including vehicles and our boat. It wasn’t easy at first but now it is just normal. We don’t make a lot but every paycheck we can save quite a bit and when my husband was laid off last February we didn’t stress about paying our bills because we had an emergency fund. I’m not telling you all this to brag but to let you know that if we can do it, you can too. 6 years ago we were barely making $250 a week and it was very scary. But with changing your mindset and working hard, you can get out of debt and have the life (and extra Starbucks πŸ˜‰ ) you want!

Amen! My DH listens to Dave Ramsey on the radio while he drives. We loosely followed his advice for the past 2.5 years and we are now debt free! We didn’t literally do the envelope system, but we changed the way we thought about money and our money behaviors. They were lean years, but the reward of being debt free is so worth it!!!

That is super Awesome Daphne, thanks for sharing. Congratulations!

I agree with everything these hipsters are saying. We implemented Dave’s theories this year and are debt free except the mortgage. We earn below the national average, but make it work.
I am thankful to Dave for his principles and Collin and her crew for all the deals. You cannot go wrong!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear of your success! Thanks for your feedback.

I purchased Dave’s Starter Bundle over 2 years ago & stumbled upon H2S, I was officially debt free since December 2014 ($15K paid off :D). Being a man who budgets AND coupons was a shocker to many but now (as Dave puts it), if you can live like no one else, later you can live like no one else. And I definitely am πŸ™‚

      Oh how wonderful!

DAVE ROCKS! I always listen to his show when I go home for lunch each afternoon (I live super close to my office). I had a car loan and have attacked it with “gazelle intensity” since January and am now debt free with a 3month emergency fund socked away. My next area of focus is trying to save aggressively for a house down payment. It really is amazing the peace of mind you get from having money saved for a rainy day and being out of debt. Like other hipsters mentioned it’s all about consistency and discipline, it’s not about how much you make but how you manage the resources you have.

Just like everyone has said Dave Ramsey is awesome! However, I checked out his book from the library for free. The worksheets are available online for free too. No need to spend money on the book

Love Dave Ramsey!!!! I am now debt free except for my mortgage thanks to his advice. I should have that paid off in 8 more years too!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Congrats!

Love Dave! We payed off the little debt we had recently, but learned how to budget and save from Dave. Our money used to disappear each month and now we know where it is going.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool Maura! Thanks for sharing!

We started the “baby steps” Dave outlines in his books about 8 years ago. We are so happy we did because I got layed off 2 years ago. but because we are now debt free I have not had to go back to work. The first year we started the program was not easy but looking back on it now and seeing where we are…we both agree it was one of the best things we ever did! I only wish we had started this earlier in our life.

Great book!! I got this book a couple months ago and we are already on the second step! I used to be very naive about money and this helped me to have a better understanding and a hopeful for our financial future.

That’s great April! Thanks for sharing πŸ˜‰

Dave Ramsey is great – followed his plan and paid off $250K+ worth of debt, now I get to be a stay at home mom, and we are getting ready to build our dream house in the spring! Totally worth the work to turn our dream into our reality
