Walmart Plus Groceries sitting on a countertop

Want to have your groceries delivered by a Walmart employee that you don’t have to tip? Thanks to Walmart’s InHome Delivery service, you can! 🙌

We are pumped to share that right now Walmart is offering a 30-day FREE trial to Walmart InHome Delivery, Don’t worry about the name of the program. If letting someone into your home isn’t your cup of tea, you can just have them deliver to your goods to your front porch, garage, or driveway!

Hip2Save’s Collin and Lina both use this service and think it is SO WORTH IT!

Here are the Hip Team’s favorite perks of Walmart InHome Delivery:

  • No tipping necessary
  • Better service as items are delivered by a specially-vetted Walmart employee
  • They will even put away your frozen and refrigerated items for you, if requested
  • Choice of where groceries are delivered, including inside your home, in your garage, or on your doorstep
  • Delivery drivers only have access to your space during deliveries and they wear body cameras so you can monitor the delivery
  • Easy returns – just leave your return on your doorstep and a worker will pick it up
  • Helpful for everyone including parents, busy professionals, seniors, travelers, and those recovering from surgery/illness or with mobility issues
  • Ability to have groceries delivered to your vacation rental before you get there (how cool is that?!)

Once your free trial ends, the service costs $7/month or $40/year. Joining the services allows Walmart+ members to have their groceries, household essentials, and other items delivered directly into their homes (or simply on the front porch – it’s up to you!).

The Hip team thinks this program is awesome 😍 and we’re going to take you step-by-step how it works!

How does Walmart Plus InHome Delivery work?

Rather than using a third-party delivery service, Walmart assigns its own full-time, tenured associates to InHome deliveries, with the goal of “providing a trusted and familiar face for every order.”

Associates even wear body cameras so you can watch your InHome delivery from an app on your phone. These recordings take place even if you are home for the delivery and you can view them for up to 7 days.

Walmart Plus InHome delivery app

If you are getting a delivery while you are not at home, you can purchase a Level Lock, Level Bolt, or Level Touch for $150 off from Walmart using code INHOMEDEVICE. These locks allow you control over your home and provide access only during delivery times.

Uncomfortable with the idea of letting a stranger into your home (and your fridge)? Save some dough and just have Walmart deliver to your front stoop.

Alternatively, you can have the delivery driver access your garage with a one-time access pin. You can link a keypad or your own smart garage opener (they currently support myQ Smart Garage Control), or get a myQ Smart Garage Control for FREE at Walmart with promo code INHOMEDEVICE.

Because myQ is built into recent models of LiftMaster and Chamberlain smart garage door openers, one in five households is already equipped with the technology required to receive InHome garage deliveries from Walmart!

Even better, the InHome delivery person will pick up any Walmart returns you leave for them. Just leave the return bag outside your doorstep. This is one of the best perks of Walmart InHome Delivery as you may never have to stand in line at the Customer Service Desk again!

Check out these reviews from our team:

“The delivery drivers do not even have to come inside your house. I usually select delivery to my doorstep. And the perk that’s really awesome – NO tipping ever! This alone is worth the monthly cost. Plus, I appreciate that Walmart employees personally pick out your items, and they seem to really take care in selecting the right products. It’s truly so worth it!“- Collin, Hip2Save Owner

“They offered a free 30-day trial, and I signed up. I am usually home so I haven’t had them come in at all. I do love that they use paper bags or reusable bags and no need to tip. Cons are the lead time is longer to get a delivery time slot so not convenient for same day to make dinner in time usually.” Lina, Hip Sidekick

“My elderly mother uses this service. She has mobility issues so this is so helpful to her. She does not have to carry all of her grocery bags inside or injure herself holding heavy items. The delivery driver puts the perishables right in the fridge for her!” – Kara, Hip Sidekick

Only if they clean my fridge too!! 🙂

I am a therapist at a skilled nursing facility. Some residents come in for short term rehab and return home. I think this service is great for the people who has limited mobility or unable/can’t drive and live at home alone. I understand that not everyone can afford this, but if they can it would improve their quality of life.

    • Sally

Yes! I was just coming on here to say something to that affect. I have knee problems and I have difficulty lifting heavy things. I’m single, no family, etc. Friends help sometimes, but they can’t always be available. I think this would be great for those with limited mobility!

For those who’ve used this, does having this service mean that I won’t be asked for a tip or that it’s not required? Technically, it’s not required for Walmart+ deliveries, but I’d feel like a jerk for not tipping drivers that aren’t getting paid that my much. I’d love for this to be a service that incudes the tip in the workers’ pay, but I’m not sure that’s what this is.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great question! I did find the details on that for you! 🤗❤️
“Does InHome delivery have fees or suggested tips?
Nope! Your membership means that you don’t pay any kind of per-delivery fee* (no matter how many times a week you order) or need to add a tip to any order. *$35 order min. Restrictions apply.”

  4. Nkiser

I was grateful for this information because this has saved us a lot of money and time going into the grocery store. sticking to my list and having it delivered every week at home and tip free has saved a lot of money as well! TOTALLY WORTH THE SAVINGS!! Thank you Hip2save 💕💕

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO awesome! You’re very welcome! Happy it was SO helpful to sign up for this service! Thanks a ton for sharing your experience with us. ❤️

Per app Once your free trial ends, the service costs $7/month or $40/year. But once you click on link that directs you to trial shows different price $8.17 month or $98/year can you please confirm which price is correct

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! 🤗💞 Here are the full details I see on the cost, when checking their FAQ. –

“The Walmart+ membership is $12.95/month or $98/annual. InHome is an additional flat fee of $7/month or $40/year to Plus Up to your Walmart+ membership.

Note: There will be two separate charges on your bank statement. One charge is the fee of Walmart+ ($12.95/month or $98/year) and an additional charge is for the fee of InHome ($7/month or $40/year).

Payments for your Walmart+ membership and InHome will be charged on the same day. You will see a prorated charge for InHome covering the days between renewing your plan and your next Walmart+ membership payment date, if you are currently on plans with different renewal dates.”

  6. Tricia

so this is seperate from Walmart plus but what perks does this have that walmart plus doesn’t?

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there, Tricia! The InHome delivery includes unlimited free store deliveries handled by InHome’s full-time associates that can be delivered to your door or into your garage or kitchen. Hoping this is helpful! ❤️

  7. Jodi P

    NOT NECESSARILY TRUE.
Some Walmarts, including mine, use DOOR DASH drivers to make deliveries, NOT Walmart Employees. Door Dash drivers need to be tipped, because they are primarily paid by tips.
Please CALL your local Walmart, and ask who is really delivering to you. And please tip accordingly.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there, Jodi! It seems this might be a bit different from the deliveries made with the Walmart+ membership. I found these details in the FAQ’s for InHome delivery if helpful – ❤️ Our small team is from your community & based at your local store—you’ll probably have the same delivery person week to week. Your membership means that you don’t pay any kind of per-delivery fee (no matter how many times a week you order) or need to add a tip to any order.

  8. Melinda P.

Wow, I would love this! Too bad it’s not available in my area yet, but hopefully soon! $40/year = Totally worth not having to tip, LOL. It’ll pay for itself in 3-4 deliveries for me.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

I agree, such a great value! 🙌 Hoping it becomes available near you soon, Melinda! 🤞💕

  9. Sharon

My local WalMart still doesn’t have this service. Is there a particular reason for it?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Sharon! Here’s what I found in the InHome FAQ on this – “Walmart+ InHome is available in select cities. To see if you’re eligible, visit https://www.walmart.com/plus/inhomeAddress and click ‘Start free 30-day trial.’ Login to your existing Walmart account or create a new account. If you have your delivery address on file, it will automatically check your Walmart+ InHome eligibility. If your delivery address is not on file, you’ll need to add it.

If you’re not eligible to Plus Up with InHome, click ‘Notify me when InHome is available’ and we’ll send you an email when Walmart+ InHome is in your area.”

Hoping this may be helpful! 🤞❤️
