  My understanding is the shorter the cord the faster it charges because the electricity has a shorter distance to travel. That’s why the really long cords take longer to charge than the standard cord.

   “Lightning cable” is just the type of connector. It does not charge any faster. It is what’s required to use with newer Apple products.
