Take a look at the cost of toner on this thing before you buy. Seems like a good deal, but that can start to cost a lot. Also, Canon discontinued it so that toner may be even harder to come by and start to cost a lot more down the line. Still, great price for a printer like that.
What a great deal! We looked on Amazon and the toner cartridges print a massive amount of pages. Also they are used by a few different printers so should be good. Excited!!!

You can get the individual toner cartridges on Amazon (remanufactured) for $20-25 with 4.5 star reviews. I am very much considering this, if anyone has any reviews or personal experience with this printer or the toner replacements please make a quick comment to knock me off the fence 🙂
I have the 8280 that looks identical. I bought it two years ago and we use it often. We are finally low on black toner so I just ordered some this weekend. It took 2 years to need it though and the color is still fine. Even though it’s discontinued, Canon makes many printers that use this same ink so I don’t think there will be problems finding more toner down the road.
It is a beast, although. It’s heavy and takes up a lot of counter space, but it’s a workhorse.
Printer is great and the off brand toners on Amazon for 20 bucks work fine. It’s so much cheaper than ink

I read on another blog site where several people commented that they thought it was a pricing error and orders will be cancelled since Quill has done it in the past. I hope this isn’t the case!! Does anyone know for certain? I haven’t gotten an order confirmation yet and it’s not showing up in my order history.
Hope people do NOT bombard them with calls, it’ll just annoying them enough to do the unthinkable…
I’m just planning to wait and see what happens, but if it is an error I’m sure they will realize it whether people call or not.

Ink is really expensive!! I guess it is for the color laser printers……I’ve only had a BW one. Always had the ink jet for the color.

Also got a cancellation notice. Think it was a pricing error and they’re hiding behind the out of stock excuse.
Actually this printer goes on sale for this price frequently – however I have one and the ink replacements are VERY expensive as each cartridge is almost 100.00, even if you buy after market they are expensive and when i bought after market toner cartridges it messed up the printer I have smudges and ink everywhere. If you are looking for a good laser color printer I would recommend the Dell laser color, Staples frequently puts it on sale for about the same price, I think the color is much better, it isn’t nearly as noisy (the Canon is LOUD) and the replacement cartridges are affordable even if you buy Dell brand. I have to admit I was highly disappointed with the Canon – it’d be cheaper to buy a brand new laser color printer than to replace all four color cartridges – even buying after market ones.
