Got mine at the store on Monday. Had another coupon for a free up to $12.99 bag of Purina One with a freebie sample in the mail– they price match online prices, too, so we were able to score a little larger bag. AWESOME deal!

    • Sue Pultorak

To clarify– I got the dog food at the store on Monday. I got the coupon in the mail. Also, they had some peelie coupons on the Cesar’s multipacks for buy one get one free (my store gives the full value of the coupon, so I paid just under 20 cents per container 🙂 )

      • T

What online price did you match out of curiosity?

        • Sue Pultorak

It was either Chewy.com or Amazon– both have worked in the past.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Thanks for sharing your score!

    • Pat

I got the same coupon for Purina One but they didn’t price match online.

  2. Vanessa

Received my coupon in the mail a few days ago.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Super glad to hear you scored one Vanessa!

      • Delia Morales

How can I get a coupon for a bag of free cat food

  3. Lola

I’ve collected about 10 of these and am donating them to our local cat rescue!

    • Elaine

Check what brand of cat food they use before you get it. I volunteer at a shelter. We can only feed the cats one kind of food. The random food gets fed to feral colonies. Not all shelters fed Ferals so theyay not be able to use the food.

      • Pat

The shelters give it away to the person that adopts the cats or dogs if they can’t use donated food. Ours will also donate it to a food bank sometimes.

        • Elaine

Why waste their time and storage with that when you can put 2 minutes worth of effort in to find out what they need? Giving them what they can’t use doesn’t help reduce their costs.

          • Holly

I thinks she’s donating the coupons so the shelter can get what they know they’ll use. Our shelter takes anything they can get.

        • BETH MITCHELL

Glad to hear that the shelters donate food to adoptees. Hate to admit this but I’ve seen bags of expensive brand foods thrown in the dumpsters while working at Care-A-Lot Pet Suppliers. I would constantly ask them to donate the foods to shelters but they insisted it was store policy. I even asked if they would sell it to me at reduced fees but, no
          .

      • MS

The coupon and email state there are no brand or diet type restrictions. As long as it qualifies it is free.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What a sweet idea Lola! Thanks for sharing!

      • Adrianne

My 8 year old daughter and I have a nice stock of Science Diet for our Cat shelters here.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          That’s awesome Adrianne!

    • mom2jel

Yes, please check with your shelter(s) first. Our (main/big) shelters here are part of the Purina ONE Shelter program: http://www.purinaone.com/shelter-network
thus they only feed Purina ONE food 🙂

    • Marie

Hi Lola, this is Marie from PetSmart. We love that idea! We wanted to share with you that you’re making an even bigger difference because of our Buy a Bag, Give a Meal program. When you come into the store to redeem your free bag of food, we will donate a meal to a pet in need 🙂

  4. Sue

It reads up to $50. Any idea what kind of dog food works 8 lb for $50. Thanks for any help have a great day.

  5. Heather C

    I got mine 😍

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay!

  6. Stacey

Oh I wish! I adopted a 6 month old at a shelter and he’s been such a struggle to potty train and he has bad separation anxiety. Such a sweet dog, but I’ve spent so much more money and time and effort than I expected.

    • TAMI

Hang in there!! Sounds like our dog we called the money pit, a stuffed kong helped alot when we were gone and treats and toys scattered. He is now the best most loyal dog we have ever had. He seemed to know how much time and love we put into him.

    • trisha517

Stacey, I know the feeling. We adopted a 2 year old dog from the shelter last November. He was rescued from a puppy mill. He never stepped foot on grass before we adopted him, so potty training was a little difficult. He also by far has had and still has bad seperation anxiety. He has chewed through 1 metal cage and 1 plastic cage. We had a dog trainer come to the house and he said it was the worst he has seen. He was be dripping wet when we got home from sweating so much from pacing back and forth. It seriosuly took a good couple months to calm him down but he is by far the most loyalist dog I have ever seen. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will soon work out!

    • Ann

A couple things to try in case you haven’t already: the thundershirt is great for helping dogs with anxiety and they even use them on the dogs at the shelter where I volunteered. There’s also a spray/diffuser with a calming pheromone. I forget the name for dogs but it’s Feliway for cats and again, it’s something used at shelters. When you’re gone try leaving on music deemed to be calming for dogs, which can find online or on YouTube. Having DogTV or YouTube shows for dogs to watch can also help keep your dog entertained. The shelter you adopted him from may have a trainer on staff who can offer some free guidance and if more is necessary, can make a referral to another behaviorist.

    • Stacey

Thank you all for your support. I’m trying to hang in there. I have gotten the shelter’s free 1 hour advice. I’ve been thinking of getting the thunder shirt. He even pees all in his crate and no warning with the pee just stand up and pee wherever he is. If I grab the leash to take him outside it’s just one long trail of pee to the door. Ugh!

      • AZ Desertgirl

Stacey, he may need some minimal, on-going mood disorder medication. I know this must be difficult for you, but try to understand what the dog must have went through in order to behave that way now. God bless you for adopting a shelter dog and for your perseverance. Please keep trying. The pheromone room diffuser (Feliway is cat product, maybe there’s one for dogs??) might help. Google “animal behavior vet near me” and see who comes up’. I have a vet near me in Mesa, AZ, she’s very good. My visit was about $325 for my cat, but things are better now that I’ve spent the money to get some real answers. Good luck to you!

  7. Denise

I did receive this email, but I don’t know if they carry Iams (dry cat food). How can I find out?

    • suzann

They do! I’m sure the type of Iams varies by store but they have several types!

      • DENISE

        Thank you!

    • Angela

I’m almost positive they do. They have a whole two aisles+ of different brands and price ranges.

    • Linda

Anyone have suggestions for a black lab mix 75 lbs. She is spayed. She has a bladder problem where about every 2 months she leaks urine. She falls asleep and wakes up in a puddle. She will walk around the house dripping. I can’t take it anymore! We have tried natural herbs and medications prion. I am going to have to put her to sleep because of this. She is also agressive with food and growls. She was a puppy at a rescue facility that was shut down for animal care. I guess they threw the food in the barn and let the dogs figure out who got what. I hate to do it but I will give her one last chance if anyone has any suggestions. The vet says that there is really nothing we can do for this behavior. He has no problem putting her to sleep. Any suggestions?

    • Amanda

We put diapers on our last dog. They make them for dogs. They may not like it but if there is nothing that can be done about the bladder leakage this might be an alternative. Aggressive behavior can be tricky but it can lesson over time with love and patience. Hope things work out for you. Sounds like your dog could use some extra love.

    • Chels

I suggest that you give her to someone that will work with her behavioral issues and bladder problems rather than put her to sleep….that is cruel.

    • Maggie

Perhaps a dog trainer? If you got her from a rescue, you should return her to that rescue. Dogs can be challenging and are a life long commitment. Our dog would loose her bladder because of epilepsy. Are you positive there isn’t an underlying medical condition? Putting her to sleep seems cruel.

    • Brooklyn

My husky puppy has complete urinary incontinence and I wouldn’t dream of putting her to sleep. She wears cloth diapers that we get from Petsmart, and we use incontinence pads inside. She doesn’t mind at all, and they work perfectly.
My pup has just about every anatomical abnormality in the book when it comes to her bladder. There’s a very high chance that your dog has one of those issues as well if the Proin didn’t help.
Since you already seem to have 1 foot out the door, I would suggest that you find someone that can give her a loving home with the care and training that she deserves. Please don’t kill her.

    • AnnieL.

Putting her to sleep is not the answer…that is mean. Behavioral issues can be worked through. I suggest you do an internet search for animal organizations in your area that will work with her. There will be someone who would love to give her a chance to be retrained, if you don’t want her. She can become less aggressive over time, with alot of love and affection. Again please do not put her down, give her to someone that will love her and have patience with her.

  22. Kelly

I work at an apartment complex doing security.

There are 650 apartments. I have found 115 of these coupons in the junk mail bin in the mail room. Anyone know of a shelter that can use them?

    • Oscar

The Humane Society of El Paso can use these. Their website is Hselpaso.org. Thank you!

  28. Shelley P

  42. Melissa

If anyone isnt planning on using theirs i would love if you could email me it… i didnt get on either and could really use it. Vhschick1216@msn.com

  43. Tara

Has anyone tried using this coupon more than once? The wording on the emailed coupon is questionable.

” Must present coupon to receive free item. Only 1 free item per coupon. Limit one coupon per customer, per transaction.”

The last part of one per customer per transaction is what leads me to believe you may use it more than once. Had the not put the per transaction in there I’d say no, but with that added in I’m not sure.

  44. Getta

If anyone isn’t using theirs, I have 4 rescued dogs. Gettalotta@gmail.com thank you!

  45. Jennifer

I received a coupon through the mail for a free bag of science diet up to a 35lbs bag. I was so confused. So I asked the manager and she said go get your bag. Bag valued for $49.99 (my dogs eat the sensitive stomach one) so this was great. Not sure if anyone else received this coupon.

  46. Shanna

I got my coupon in the mail but it was addressed to my husband/current resident and mine was for a free bag of dog food up to 35lbs or cat food up to 16 lbs for a up to $55.00 value! I used it on a cat food. My cats absolutely love it! Not sure how we got this coupon but boy do I wish I could find another. That’s some expensive food. It was 35 on sale! But it seems to be good my one cat is very sensitive to something in Most basic foods has had to be on purina Beyond indoor salmon something and I grabbed a bag of the indoor adult 1-6 of science diet and she seems to be going great with it! So yay!!
