  3. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wow, and I just hit 30!

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Last time I signed up for one of their offers..they signed me up for a subscription. I got a bill in the mail today for 11 bucks…and it makes me mad because I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION..they somehow tricked me…and now they are making it nearly impossible to cancel my subscription. I hate seventeen magazine – pretty boring. Just saying. : )

  8. alyssa

Were you able to figure it out? It only sends me to the home page????? HELP!

  9. Crystal

Ditto to Alyssa’s comment – I can’t get it to go either – seems like its just going to the regular seventeen website… Maybe at the ripe old age of 29, I am too old to figure out how to do it!

  10. Taylor

    I can’t get it to pull up…

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

just tried it and it keeps going to seventeens homepage at 12:05 ET

      • Breanne

        yeah, that is total crap.

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Its now on the freebies page at seventeen.com

  20. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You can click on Fun Stuff on the home page and then click Freebies. Scroll down until you see Free Eyeliner. You are signing up for a trial subscription though….

  21. charla

I think I got it to work. I created an account and then went to “freebies.” Scroll down and the liner giveaway is there. But, after I submitted, I got this message saying i subscribed to the magazine! I didn’t notice anything authorizing that. Where did I miss it????

THANK YOU FOR ENTERING THE SWEEPSTAKES!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ORDER! We have also accepted your subscription for Seventeen and will bill you $10 for 12 issues. Your first issue will be delivered to *** in 4-6 weeks.

  22. Megan

Yikes- I just did this and after I hit the “submit” button, it said that they will automatically send me Seventeen magazine and bill me. And I even opted out of the two choices to receive info from Seventeen via email/etc. What now?

  23. Ashley B.

DO NOT DO THIS!! (unless you want to deal w/ calling cust. service to cancel a subsc.) I got to the page by clicking on freebies at the top of homepage and it was listed there and when I filled out the form I made sure to click I did NOT want a subscription or any other offers. After I clicked submit it told me they were processing my request AND my 1 yr subscription for $10 and I will receive a bill in the mail! This is CRAZY! I’m too tired to call right now but will do first thing in morning!

  24. Mrs. Hall

I found this page on there when I searched for free eyeliner. Is this the same one? Seems like they want you to sign up for a free trial subscription to be automatically entered for a chance to win the eyeliner.

    I could be wrong though.

    • Breanne

that is the one, but they don’t sign you up for a free trial, they subscribe you:

THANK YOU FOR ENTERING THE SWEEPSTAKES!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ORDER! We have also accepted your subscription for Seventeen and will bill you $10 for 12 issues. Your first issue will be delivered to XXX in 4-6 weeks.

If information above is incorrect, we ask that you wait one week before contacting customer service, to insure that your account information has been processed and appears in our system.

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I could be wrong, but I believe…it is a “chance” to win an eyeliner…17, did this before with another product…IN actuality (could be wrong) the First 10,000 to subscribe will get the liner?????

  26. anel m

it didn’t tell me that, i clicked on the the option that said “no purchase necessary to enter the sweepstakes” it is the box about half way down the page that has the little picture of the magazine on it. this took me to a form that allowed me to check “no” for the trial subscription. hope this helps.

  27. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    hmm- worked ok for me.
I always click the ‘do not subscribe’ link– and haven’t had a problem (since they got me the very first time months ago).
they are pretty sneaky– if you’re going really fast, you are likely to miss the entire section about subscribing. i did once- emailed the company, got it removed and then never made the mistake again. all the major mags are doing it now- so looks like the trend won’t go away anytime soon.

  28. Emma

What is the code word found in the magazine?

  29. Anonymous

I agree with ellen sue. It happened to me last time. Just go to the upper left hand corner of seventeen.com and click unsubscribe. It should take like 2 days. Next time just be careful and read EVERYTHING. :] good luck~!!

    • Cindy

Well, it subscribed me even though I clicked no for the magazine subscription, I guess it’s because I didn’t click no for their e-letter. How tricky!!!!

  30. linda

I clicked deny on the offers and said no on getting a free issue and it still signed me up for a subscription…I will be calling..no where does it say that when I clicked back to see where this sneaky sign up thing was

  31. Mom2taytay

If you read the fine print you will NOT get signed up for a magazine, just read and follow the directions.

  32. Heather

I did NOT sign up for the mag but I just got an email confimation saying that I ordered. I was very careful not to sing up for the offers or the free trial, what a sneaky thing for them to do!

  33. ginger

No purchase is neccesary you just have to be sure to click on the link at the top where it says you want to enter without purchasing the subscription…piece of cake after that and it says they will not send me anything. 🙂

  34. Anonymous

disregard the two offers. Instead look look where it says no purchase necessary at the top. In a box. Click the link in the box they give you! Oh my, is it really that easy to miss? You guys! Go really slow and read everything!

  35. Megan

Choosing “no” at the bottom on the page for offers does not mean that they will not subscribe you! It say at the top: “Fill out this page and you will get a free subscription” and then of course they will bill you later. To get out of this, just click on the link for people who are already subscribed! You will then have the option to choose no for the subscription!

I think this is just a sweepstakes though. I signed up, but I don’t think it is a first people kind of thing. Seventeen is sneaky.

  36. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yeah look under the sweepstakes info. there is a link that says no purchase necessary. You can opt out. Mine went through fine. No emails about subscription.

  37. anna

What is the correct code word?

  38. d

The Code word is “liner”, must be lowercase. For those trying to find the link use this one: https://www.seventeen.com/sweepstakes/10984

Then in the box with the magazine on there is a link to click if you don’t want to get the magazine. Good Luck!!

  39. amanda

If anyone ended up subscribing…no worries, it says if you do not want the magazine write cancel on the bill when they mail it to you and the first issue they send you is free!

  40. Jamie

My 31st birthday is this Saturday – I’m too old 😉

  41. Cath

Did anyone ever get the earrings from Seventeen from a while back?

  42. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was tricked into the 12 subscriptions for 10 dollars as well…BUT good news, the website says, “If you like what you see, you’ll get 11 more issues (12 in all) for just $10.00 — that’s 72% less than others pay on the newsstand. If not, return the bill marked “cancel” and keep the first issue with no obligation. You’ll still be eligible to win the sweepstakes.”

so all you need to do is send the first bill back and you get to keep a free issue 🙂 no worries

  43. Ashley

DO NOT DO THIS! I cannot believe they tricked me. I specifially clicked NO that I was not interested in a subscription but somehow it said I did after I submitted. That does not make any sense to me. I sent them a nasty email stating that I was upset by the misleading deal. Now I need to find a number to call to cancel this. If anyone has it, please post it!

  44. Theresa

I just did this without a problem… no messages about getting a subscription

  45. Carrie

I forgot about the earrings! No I didn’t get any.

  46. Samantha

I just did it at 10:41 am EST and it went through. The confirmation page did say that I was registered for the subscription although I checked no so I will just mark cancel on the bill, I suppose!

  47. Heidi

TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION: go to customer service link at top and find where to cancel subscription and then follow directions.

  48. Emily

Tricking 10,000 people is terrible business practice!! Seventeen is lame.

  49. Angela

I’ve submitted with a “NO” before too and then just told them to cancel my subscription and everything was fine. There is a link that you have to click on, that says you don’t want a trial subscription and you just want to enter the contest. Try finding this link and clicking on it, it should be right before you see the boxes to enter your information.
