Oh rats, doesn’t seem like we got that coupon in the St. Pete Times. Hope some other areas have better luck.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

we got the coupons here by us but i dont get it, what does that mean your mileage may vary??

      • lucy

different walgreens stores may or may not accept a buy 1 get 1 free coupon when they are running a buy 1 get 1 sale. i’ve heard of many stores that do, but the walgreens i shop at will not accept one. before you head over to walgreens and try to stock up on this, you need to ask a cashier or store manager if they will or will not accept a coupon. πŸ™‚

        • Kari K

I was just at mine – they do not allow b1g1 coupons on the same item as a b1g1 sale – and will not allow you to use 2 coupons for that sale either (saying you can not use a coupon for the item with no purchase price). She also told me that the order that they have to take coupons is: and RR, then any Walgreens coupons, THEN the MQs… of course, this really makes any Walgreens deal advertised here not so much of a deal for me…. I’m thinking I may not shop there anymore… bummer πŸ™

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My Walgreens splits the b1g1 price between the two items and takes the b1g1 coupon this way. You don’t get any free items, but cheaper.

    • am

I get sp pete times and it was in there

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Have you been getting the smartsource? The last few weeks I haven’t gotten it and I’m wondering if it’s just my area or what?

        • Sarah

The St Pete Times did not renew their contract with Smart Source for select counties like Hillsborough. The rumor is that they are still negotiating but it has been over a month now. I have been getting the Tampa Tribune since they started this crap. It costs more here but worth it to get all my coups!

    Publix customers:

Pick up 2 J&J first aid kits $1.49 for each so $3 for 2
Use 2 $1.50 off 2 Johnson & Johnson Red Cross First Aid Items (including tapes, guaze & pads) or any 1 J&J First Aid Kit from today’s green advantage flier
Use 2 $1/1 Johnson & Johnson First Aid Product, Any Excludes Trial Size Β– 01-03-10 RP

Get 2 FREE J&J first aid kits plus $2 overage

    • Melanie

Thanks!!! I so wish hip would do Publix cpn matchups!

    • Melanie

Shoot! I dont have the J&J cpn in my 1/3 redplum.

    • kimberley

The 1.49 ones are trial size. This would be a fraudulent use of those coupons.

      • BrandyK

No, these are TRAVEL size, not trial size. Those are indeed two different things.

    • Lindsay

In Publix, there are also $1/1 blinkies that do not exclude travel size. I’ve been using them to get free travel size first aid kits from walmart the last couple of weeks. Also the travel size at my Publix is 1.25. Isn’t the coupon in the new green adv. flyer 1.50/TWO? so after buying two at my price and then using 2 1/1 I can get them for free but no overage.

  3. lisa

I got the coupons left I will try it at my local walgreens and see tomorrow……

  4. Lisa

I’m going today and will try it!

  5. mary

Darn, we never got that coupon here in Austin, TX. Bummer!

  6. Jennifer

I know one of the managers @ my walgreens in Portage Mi. and he says that none of the stores should be allowing use to use the bogo coupons per corporate policies. When I explained that Rite Aid allows it he told me that Walgreens corportate told them they aren’t to accept any coupons. Has anyone called corportate while in the store to challenge this?

    • Kari K

i did not have her call corporate when i was at the register talking to the manager who would not allow it (and also would not allow 2 coupons to be used with a b1g1f sale)… maybe that would have been the way to go… if Walgreens wants to avoid mass confusion and inconsistency with coupon policy among their store system and even among cashiers in the same store, they should have something in writing to refer to – and it would make it MUCH easier for all of us!!!

  7. Patsy Dillon

We just got back from Wags and did this deal! I was going to email you and let you know! You are way ahead of us:)

  8. Christy

Darnit … I used my BOGO Purex coupon at Target a couple of days ago .. still thought it was a good deal to get two big jugs of Purex for $4.99 though.

  9. Kathy

Last week, CVS offered the Purex Liquid or 3 in 1 sheets for BOGO for a penny. The manager told me that since I was actually buying one and not getting it totally for free, that I could use the BOGO free coupon!! I only had 5 and I used them all! Bought $85 worth of Purex including the Simply Asia’s for .49 after coupons. Plus I used a couple of ECB’s and my grand total was .4 cents! Love it!
Walgreens here told me no to the BOGO when I tried to use some other for deod. last week.

  10. Lacie

Walgreens policy is that you can use a coupon on the item that you are getting for free. I don’t know if anyone has printed their coupon policy and taken it in to them.

  11. Heather W

I don’t usually try the BOGO deals with the BOGO coupon either, because my Walgreens makes issues over anything and everything, but for 2 free laundry detergents I will try!! I will even drive 20-40 miles to try other Walgreens! LOL Thanks Collin!!

  12. Terri

Here is a response I got a back from corporate. I hope it helps someone.

    Dear (Your name),

Thank you for taking your time to contact our Corporate Offices. We
appreciate hearing from our customers and value all comments received.

Walgreen stores accept a variety of coupons everyday. The coupons fall
    into two categories:

    #1. Walgreens issued coupons and
    #2. Manufacturer issued coupons

The following are some guidelines for accepting these types of coupons.

We will accept one Walgreen issued coupon and one manufacturer coupon
for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits such use.

IVC (Instant Value Coupon) coupons, and a manufacturers coupon can be used towards the purchase of any one item.

Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented from more
than the purchase value of the item.

Walgreens does not accept coupons from other retailers or coupons for
products not carried in our stores. All valid coupons must be presented to the cashier at the time of sale.

When purchasing a Buy 1 Get 1 free item, only one coupon can be applied
towards the purchase because the customer is only purchasing one item.

If a coupon states good on any size of the product and does not
specifically exclude trail sizes of this product, the coupon can be used to purchase trial sized products.

Internet coupons can be accepted whether they are printed in color or
in black and white. Walgreens does not accept expired coupons. As a company we do not price match.

If an item that was purchased with a coupon is returned, we will refund
the price paid by the customer. Example: If the item retail was $1.49 and the manufacturers coupon was $.25 off, we would refund $1.24.

Again, thank you for letting us know about your satisfaction. We truly
    appreciate your thoughtfulness.

    Sincerely,

    Tonya P.
    Supervisor, Consumer Relations

    • anon

Mmmmmmm. This didn’t address that Bogo cpn on a bogo item.

      • Mrs. Hall

I think I understood it. Though I haven’t tried it yet. It states on a BOGO you can use one coupon on the one you are not getting free. Meaning you can use the (1) coupon for a BOGO, but you cannot use say (2) single coupons for this type of purchase.

Purex soap BOGO..can use any (1) type of coupon for item not free. 1 BOGOQ or 1 $ offQ.

Purex soap BOGO…cannot use (2) single coupons, only (1) for item not free.

I haven’t been shopping forever! I’m wanting to cry lol! I hope all get this deal.

        • Kari K

i just ran into this… the manager told me that they can not accept a b1g1 coupon with a b1g1 sale – she said that their Walgreens b1g1 ‘trumps’ the manufactures, and means that you have to BUY one of the products in order to get a free one – she also said that even presenting the b1g1 coupon to get four of the item was not allowed because you would have to BUY two of the product in order to get one free, and could not apply the MQ b1g1 to one of the products that you had to ‘buy’ to get the other two free… she said something about state or federal coupon guidelines prohibiting the use of coupons in that way, and that it was coupon fraud…

    • Rosie

oh… that refund policy is just WRONG. You use a coupon which they turn in for cash, but if you have to return an item they keep the coupon amount (by not refunding it to you) AND get reimbursed for the coupon too… thats doulbe dipping. One more reason for me to not shop Wags…

      • Katie

imagine (an extreme example) people buying alot of items with coupons-and then returning it all and getting back in cash the value of the products they bought. In this scenario the customer would be making then…which isnt the intended purpose of the coupon-so i can agree with why they would have that policy

        • Jaime

Having been in retail management for years, I can tell you that is definitely why the policy is written that way. Sadly there are people out there who would do that. Often times it is also that they simply can’t give out more cash than you gave them. On the other side of it, they do return the original purchase price if you aren’t returning everything on the receipt because they can’t tell what item most of the coupons are attached too so I wouldn’t use it as a reason to not shop there. πŸ™‚

      • nicole

I agree, that return policy is wrong. I also don’t agree with companies that won’t allow you to use overage on items, they just adjust the coupon down to the price of the item. Then they turn around and redeem the coupon at FULL FACE VALUE plus $.08 handling. It’s not appropriate to steal as an individual so why is it okay for a corporation as a whole?

        • Kari K

from what i understand, the store (wags) is SUPPOSED to, in the event of any overage, reduce the value of the coupon, AND cross out the value of the coupon and write instead the value that they gave you. From personal experience, i have NEVER seen this, even when they do not give me the full value!!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree. My Rite Aid will give me the full price of the item if I return it, since they’re keeping the coupon.

    • Gina

“When purchasing a Buy 1 Get 1 free item, only one coupon can be applied
towards the purchase because the customer is only purchasing one item.”
So when you use the B1G1 coupon, are you using it on one product, or two? Because don’t you have to pay at least $0.01 in order to ‘buy one’? And because you would only be paying for 1, you can only get one other one for free? I don’t know, but this is what I am planning on doing if they won’t take the B1G1 on a B1G1 sale.
      Buy 4 bottles
Two of the bottles will ring up for free
Use the B1G1 coupon and the two that were not free
Pay for 1, but get 4!!

      • LisaM

I am going to try the samething tomorrow, my head hurts reading all of the posts. I don’t like shopping walgreens anymore, I do not go there much.

      • Kari K

I did try that one today at Wags, and she said that because I was required to BUY the two in order to get the two for free, that it was not allowed to use a b1g1 MQ to get one of those for free… she said it is not allowed to ever use a b1g1f MQ any time there is a b1g1 sale…. πŸ™

  13. Ron

Drat!! Didn’t get the BOGO coupon in Dayton OH

    • sara m.

Next time, try to buy a Cincinnati or Middletown paper instead. They usually have a lot more coupons than the Dayton paper, and I did get the BOGO coupon in my Enquirer!

I live in Middletown, so I get to choose between 3 papers.

  14. Marissa

What the? I’ve always thought I could use 2 coupons on a bogo… and the last part is wrong, in my experience – about returns with the manf. q – I just returned a razor that I didn’t get my rr for..and I used a $2 off coupon..and they gave me the full retail price. That makes no sense that they would be able to subtract the coupon amount from my refund..because now they have my coupon and they are gonna make money off of it.

I hate Walgreens. I do know that one of my walgreens takes bogo coupon on a bogo deal (which, I think they all should…I don’t know why they wouldn’t?).

Anyone know of any walgreens in NORTHWEST INDIANA that allow a bogo coupon to be used on a bogo deal?

  15. Barb

Sadly no coupon in the Detroit Market!

  16. Michelle

Anybody here from Newark Ohio? Just wondering if the Wags there accepts BOGO free coupons on BOGO free items.

  17. am

I HATE WALGREENS!!!!!!!!!!! CVS is sooooooo much easier with coupons and RR and with pretty consistent cashiers. Walgreens is a nothing but a headache!!!!!!

    • LisaM

      amen……….

  18. Angela

While I love savings, I honestly think it is fair for them to say you can not use the coupon on a BOGO sale. BOGO is you buy one you get one free. If you use a BOGO coupon then that means you would not be buying the item because you would be getting them both free, am I thinking that is what we are talking about? Basically getting both for free? With both the coupon and a BOGO sale you have to do the first to get the free item, which is actually BUYING the first item

    • BrandyK

No but see, you ARE buying the item. You’re buying it with your coupon. Coupons are just like cash. The retailer is reimbursed full value of the coupon, in this case, $5.99 for the “free value”. It is exactly like cash, so why should I be discriminated against for paying with a coupon rather than paying with cash?

    • nicole

Actually, the item gets paid for. When you get 2 purex detergents, one of them is Free b/c that is the Walgreens Sale. When you use the BOGO coupon for these from the MFR. the MFR reimburses the store the cost of ONE of the Purex detergents plus an $.08 handling fee. Which is why the coupon should work.

The item is getting paid for plus $.08 and you get two free items. It works out for everyone. Wags get’s their money, the MFR coupon is redeemed, and you get your two free items.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It says BOGO, it doesn’t really say who has to buy it. Whether it is the store or the manufacturer, someone is buying one.

  19. Anon

Just saw this response from Wags corporate to the BOGO question on another blog…

Q: What about If you are having a store promotion for Buy 1 Get 1
Free and I have a manufacturers coupon for Buy 1 Get 1 Free Do I get both Items
Free and just pay the sales tax?
    A: Yes.

    • Kari K

yes.. some do say that… and some say not… wish they would get their stuff together and get a formal coupon policy in writing!!!

  20. AlisonR

It worked for me, Collin! I am in Clemmons, NC, and it worked like a charm. I did it twice (in 2 different transactions)…. 4 Purex for FREE!!!! Thanks for all you do for us, Collin!

    • LisaM

hey, I live in Kernersville, N.C. I will try there tomorrow………

  21. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree that Wags is a headache. I just went to my local wags and they argued that the b1g1 manu q could not be used on a b1g1 sale. I tried to plea my case that the manu would reimburse them for the $$ that I would have paid out of pocket. The cashier kept on disagreeing that they were not getting any money for the other bottle. I tried to explain that they put the item on sale and the manu put the q out there. This way Wags pays for one bottle and the manu pays for the other bottle. They just didnt get it!!! The manager was confused too. She told me I was dishonest!!! Can you believe them? All I’m trying to do is save my family money. I’m not taking money out of their pockets! Every wags is different. I hate that. I will not be shopping at that wags anymore….(ps she approved the sale this one time but it was not worth the arguement).

    • BrandyK

They obviously don’t understand the way this works.
      1. Store sales are driven by the manufacturer. Stores are reimbursed a percentage of the sales given to the customers. I can assure you that Walgreens doesn’t just randomly choose things to put on sale. (nor does any other store, for that matter). So they get reimbursed for the one on store sale by the manufacturer.
      THEN
      2. The manufacturer coupon is reimbursed for the full value of the coupon, PLUS $.08 for handling. In this case, $5.99 plus $.08 for handling.

So the store will get reimbursed for both items from the manufacturer.
The manufacturer knows full well what coupons are out when they put their products on sale. The marketing geniuses know what they’re doing. They’re not stupid.

I was able to buy mine today and pay only tax using the bogo coupon. πŸ™‚

  22. Amanda

So Upset!!! Ok Wags is on my nerves for sure, well the one by my house in Orlando, Fl anyways. I tried to do the BOGO Purex and no such luck. When the Bic razor deal was going on that was BOGO and we had a BOGO coupon I got 4 packages of razors FREE! I went to the Wags by my work. I guess that is where I will have to go for the Purex too. I try not to get upset but Geezz that was an hour wasted and I could have just gone to the 7-11 right next to my house for my newspapers. Wags needs to step up and get with it!!

  23. Crystal

The last time I tried to use a B1G1 Q with a B1G1 WAG promotion, the items rang up weird… two $6 items.., one rang up for $5, the other rang up at $1, so of course, it didn’t work. The cashier said with a B1G1 Q, they are supposed to give me credit for the least expensive. She asked the manager, and the manager told her to split the difference. πŸ™

  24. Natalie

It will not work for me in Columbus, Ohio. Last time, the cashier called the manager and he looked at me as if I had 2 heads for trying it. He told me in a patronizing way to save my coupon for a time they were not having a BOGO sale. Most of the time, my local store is great ( at least the cashiers are!) and I don’t want to have a hard time in there, so I didn’t argue about it.

  25. Rebecca

I went to wag’s, all excited about this only to find they don’t even carry the dye free perfume free versions of Purex… I was SO disappointed! I went to Jewel (Albertson’s) and just used one BOGO and 1-$1/1 to get mine for 2.50 each, which wasn’t too bad, but in our house we just can’t do the other kind.. too many sensitive skinned folks and wee ones to consider…

    • Barbara

My wags in texas had a lot dye free.

  26. Barbara

I was able to purchase the Purex and they had 44% more (46 loads), but they did not ring up BOGO My cashier saw they rang up 5.99 and used a smaller size to get it ring up BOGO. I am very lucky my Wags have the nicest coupons friendly cashiers. One of the assistance managers uses coupons.

    • Melanie

You were so lucky! My Wags store did not ring up BOGO for teh 44 % more too, and they refused to budge on it…even though the sign said buy one get one free!

  27. Mary Jones

Has anyone been able to find the high efficiency (HE) Purex at Walgreens? I went to two different stores and there wasn’t a single one… I’m beginning to think they only carry regular Purex…

  28. Diane

My Walgreens would not let me use BOGO with another BOGO at a different sale……..they told me to save my coupon for another time !!

  29. Chuck stay at home dad.

It worked for me in Columbus, Ohio….. it took some wrangling with the cashier and the manager. I had to explain that they still get their money from the Manuf. It all depends who your cashier is.

  30. Megan

My cashier said I could not use 2 B1G1F coupons on a B1G1F sale–I could only use one. But 4 bottles for $5.99 is still a good price so I bought them anyways. I may try at another store later this week. It’s weird how Walgreens stores vary so much.

  31. Chrissy

Can someone explain how BOGO coupons work with a BOGO sale? Do you buy one item and get 2 for free = A total of 3 items, but you are only paying for one. Is that correct?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

In an earlier comment someone said to buy four get two for free, use your b1g1 coupon and then you would still pay for the last one. Make sense?!?

  32. Lkay

    Hey!!
Can someone pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaseee pleeeaseee let me know what the cover of RP 2/21 looks like :S

    THAnks a billiion

    • am

it has JCPenney optical on the front with a pair of glasses and bid 50% sign, tylenol product on the bottom

      • Lkay

thank you sOoo much! – my insert didnt have the coupon…..BOOOO!!!

        – SW FLORIDA>.

    • Melissa

I have one with the Sear’s and another 2/21 RP with kibbles ‘n bits on the cover.

  33. Lkay

    Chrissy-

BOGO sales w BOGO coupons work like this :

Example: $6 item is on sale “buy one, get one free”
You buy 2 items (full price $12), one rings up at $6 and one rings up at zero
NOW Your coupon takes off the $6 item, so the final charge is ZERO for $12.00 worth of items (100% savings)

    Hope that helps :]

  34. Erin

Yaaaay! I just got home from my Walgreens (Iowa) and was able to get 4 Purex laundry detergents for FREE πŸ™‚ Thank you!!!

  35. Lane

Okay—-I’m just saying——I know it ticks me off a little too when things don’t work out right with coupons, but move on——LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE ANGRY ABOUT A COUPON!!

  36. Gina

Just came from my wags, I called ahead and they said that they would do this deal. I walked out with 10 purex and paid $1.53!!!!!! No shelf clearing, there were still many left when I checked out!!
    Racine, Wisconsin

    • S

I’m not attacking you by any means- I just think that shelf clearing would be if 4 people came in and bought 10 bottles of detergent.. it wouldn’t only apply to the last person who bought the last 10 bottles. I don’t know- 10 bottles seems a bit excessive.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I dont agree. I think that if you can get 10 bottles for next to nothing you should do it. It doesnt go bad. I have been to so many places where everything was cleared out because I got there too late. Its my turn! If the item was perishable maybe I could see not shelf clearing, but its shelf life is forever. Plus 10 bottles wont last that long, they are little. πŸ™‚

  37. Donna

Has anyone went to the Lafayette IN store on 26 and Creasy lane to try this deal? I want to order some Qs if they will do this. I hate to waste money on Qs if not a deal.

  38. Rachel

Remember that getting something FREE means they hand it out to you at the door, you don’t need to take it to the register…no tax. If the store is offering you a B1G1 free deal, you still have to take the item to the register to pay. The register takes off the price of the item and you pay tax. Coupons are a form of payment just like cash.

I personally think two coupons on a B1G1 should be ok BUT can see why it’s confusing. I do think you should be able to use a B1G1 on a B1G1 sale. One free from the store, one free from the manufacturer.

  39. Renee

I just got 6 in tucson az, no problems with the coupons although I did have my printed WAGS coupon policy handy and it does state you can use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale so just in case don’t forget to have this with you. On a side note I usually do not like Walgreens as they are so much harder to deal with the CVS but for a free non RR deal I thought it was worth it. I also got a few other itmes with wags coupons and manu coupons everything went through 12 items and 10 coupons but I got worried when the cashier laid all my coupons out in a heard and very methodically looked and counted and double checked each one. Still took way to long to check out even with no beeps but I think it was worth it this time.

    • Cynthia

I’d like a copy of their coupon policy, can’t find it anywhere.

      • Melanie

I would also like a copy of that coupon policy. I looked on the website and did not find it anywhere.

        • Paula

I also would like a copy of the coupon policy. Does anyone know where to locate ?

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Its not a coupon policy for sure, but at iheartwags.com they have a letter from their corp. offices saying you can use a b1g1 on a b1g1 sale. Jillcataldo.com also has this same letter.

  40. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Amanda, which Wags do you go to in Orlando? I’m currently on vacay here and I’m staying with some family friends. I’d love to give them some free Purex!!! I’m near the Hunter’s Creek/ Kissimmee area.

    • Amanda

In Maitland Fl but the ones that work good are in Kissimmee!!

  41. Jana

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the coupon policy to print off. Thanks πŸ™‚

  42. Sarah

I live in Washington state and Walgreen here did not have the BOGO sale. : ( SOOOOOO Sad!!!

    • Shannon

WORKED FOR ME here in NC! I went to 2 Walgreens because the first one only had 4 bottles. Got 2 more that the second. Called ahead and asked the manager about the coupon at my usual Wags but just walked in and used it at the other one.

    • Lacie

You should price check, because a lot of the sales mentioned on the site were not marked on the shelf, but they rang up. I am also in Washington, and the Purex and everything in the ad and on this site was on sale in my store.

  43. Tiffany

I was able to get 2 of each scent for free and didn’t have any problems at all. Ours rang up $5.99 for the first one and then $0 for the second one. They weren’t marked on sale on the shelf, but I had the cashier try it just to see if it would work.

  44. Debra

How did Collin know that Purex was BOGO??? Its not in my flyer, but it really is on sale in my store. I think Collin has super-natural powers!!

  45. Megan

Worked great at the Enumclaw, WA Walgreens! Rang up 1 and 5.99 and the other at 0.00. Then she scanned the coupon and took off 5.99! Easy Peasy!!

It worked for me! Got 4 bottles for just the cost of tax. The girl behind me in line holding her Tide was amazed at my free detergent and probably sorry when she saw the total of her Tide. Thanks Collin for posting this or I would have missed it. My BOGO purex coupon would have expired on 3/6, so I was happy to have scored before it was no good.

MIne worked fine. I got 8 bottles free. I always go to the same cashier every Sunday at the same time as soon as they open. I do this while my kids and husband are still sleeping. Walgreens is usually stocked early and barely no one is in the store so if I have alot of coupons I dont cause a big line. The ywere a little rude when I first began this and now they seem to expect me and are very nice. I also did the b1g1 free right guard deoderant. 2.99 for one. the other was free. used two 1.50 coupons and no beeps. Sometimes the cashier is in ahhh and asks where I get the coupons. I try and offer her coupons from time to time when I have extra so she can get the same deal.

I just got back from Wags and got four bottles for the $.88 tax. I asked for the store manager and he said it this way. “I can either let you take advantage of our sale meaning you walk out of here with two bottles of deterg and we get $5.99 (the cost of one) and you paid the $5.99, or I can let you also use the coupon with the sale. We will turn the coupon into the manufacturer and will get the $5.99 back. You will still walk out with two bottles of detergent, we will still get $5.99 from the manufactuer, but you have paid nothing and are now a happy customer likely to return and my store doesn’t lose a dime. Go ahead and use the coupon.” This made me love that location so much that even though it isn’t the closest to my house…I will always go to this one first!

My 2/21 RP has a JC Penny Optical Add. It is Yellow with Pink glasses on the front and says “limited time offer 50% off”. The purex coupon is on the back of the ad! Full page on the back “BUY ONE GET ONE FREE” with a bottle of purex pictured.. hth!
