What’s Up with Kmart?!
Believe me, if it wasn’t for the fact that Kmart occasionally offers the Double Coupon Events, I would probably never step foot in another Kmart again!!
First, let me address the recent $10 off $20 Kmart purchase coupon. I chose to post this coupon because it was available on the Kmart web-site AND specifically stated that it could be used at any Kmart location. Although some Hip2Save readers were successful in using this coupon, the majority of readers have had issues with it beeping and/or being told that the coupon is fraudulent (seems odd since Kmart had the coupon available on their web-site?!). At this time, the coupon is no longer available on Kmart’s web-site…despite attempts to call Kmart about this issue, I have not been able to receive any additional information on the status of the coupon. So I am making the assumption that the coupon is no longer valid. Darn! However, it doesn’t hurt to try to use it if you are making a trip to Kmart regardless. Sorry about the confusion…I am honestly just as frustrated as most of you!
OK, now on to a different Kmart topic…the upcoming Kmart Double Coupon Event! Here is all the nitty gritty that you need to know prior to your Kmart shopping trip:
- This event is for select participating Kmart locations from April 4th-10th
- You can use manufacturer coupons up to and including a $2 value (i.e. if you have a $2/1 coupon, it will be doubled up to $2 for a total of $4 off the price of the item)
- You must be a member of the Shop Your Way Rewards program AND the cashier MUST swipe your reward’s card at the beginning of your transaction!!*
- Does not include Kmart Store Coupons or Kmart Pharmacy Store Coupons (i.e. Kmart coupons will NOT be doubled)
- Limit 5 total coupons per customer per day.
- If you are using more than 5 coupons in your transaction, ONLY the first 5 coupons will be doubled.
*If you are not currently a Kmart Shop Your Way Rewards card member, do NOT stress! There are 3 simple ways to become a member:
- Go to the Customer Service Dept at your local Kmart or Sears store and request a card; you will be able to sign up and receive your card immediately (this is obviously the best option if you have a store close by)!
- Call the Shop Your Way Rewards Card dept at 1.800.991.8708; they will take all your information over the phone and then a card will be mailed to you (the card typically takes 6-8 weeks to arrive). Even if you do not have the physical card in hand for the double coupon days, you can give the cashier your phone # or member # in order to pull up your reward’s account.
- Click here to sign up on-line; then just print off a temporary card to use while you wait for the permanent card to arrive in the mail.

the coupon I’m MOST excited about is $1 off ANY lysol cleaning product. I have a paper coupon for $1 off so that should equal a FREE product! (they were recently on sale for $2 at our Kroger – WAHOOO! 😉
I just called my Kmart in Rockford, il and they said they are honoring the coupon! Yeay!

Makes me wonder if their double Q days are worth it. One gal I talked to said that they up their prices to the coupon value, so it is no deal at all. Very bummed out. Glad I have Target, Meijer and Payless stores to do my shopping at 🙂

I was able to use mine this morning! After 45 minutes of arguing with the manager.. There was NO valid reason I couldn’t and I was there so I was gonna stand my ground. LOL! Ugh. Then they didn’t want to use my huggies coupon. Anyway, I stayed strong and got my stuff and used all my coupons! Sheesh. I won’t go back to Kmart though!!! I just wanted my Huggies overnights for free basically, because I am a cloth diaper momma and don’t like to pay for sposies! 🙂
I tried it today and I was planning on using several and doing several transactions. It beeped and said that “no rewards were found”. The customer service manager told me that I had to be a rewards member to use it. Since the rewards program is free, he had me sign up right then. It still beeped. He told the cashier that she had totalled the transaction and that she should have scanned it before totalling. She voided the transaction and re-rang everything without totalling-it still beeped. The finally (after me asking 10 times) called the store manager. He came to the front and said that the tampax were on sale in my transaction and that counted as a store discount so that is why it wasn’t working. We then tried a transaction with no sale items at all and it still beeped. I read the coupon again and pointed out to him that it said “good on all sale and clearance merchandise”. He said, ” I don’t know what to do” and he just walked off. So the cashier asked if I still wanted my purchase and I told her no. At this point all this had taken about an hour and I had 14 month old twins and a five year old that were complete ticked at this point so on my way out I went to the service desk and asked for them to call the manager up there again. I once again had him read the coupon and told him that it was unfair to me as a shopper that I don’t get to use a valid coupon that there store puts out just because they can’t get their act together. There were two cashier standing their and both said that they scanned about 10 of those coupons the day before and they went through fine. I then asked him if it was fair that I was being punished because i came one day later. He said that they have no way of manually entering them or overriding the beep. I said, “so as a manager there is nothing you can do to help me out?” He then decided to take all the coupons (4) and issued me 4 $10 giftcards as long as I used them on the transactions right then just as I had planned to with the coupons. He said he would just damage out the giftcards! Only one of the catalina coupons printed even though I did four seperate transactions and should have gotten 3 catalinas, but since he was making an effort to make things right, I didn’t say anything about the catalinas. I think what really helped is that I saw on here people were having problems and so I printed the kmart page that the link takes you to before you click to download the coupon. I showed him the top where it says the website and I could prove it came from kmart.com.
I used to be a manager at Sears. We had the same computer systems in place at both stores. That manager could have easily keyed in a price reduction to your sale, he either didn’t want to or didn’t know how. Did you talk to the store manager or just an assistant? A lot of the assistants are just hourly employees who may not know a whole lot. I’ll be the store manager would have been more accommodating (maybe…)
I won’t shop at Kmart anymore. Springfield, MO kmart will not take the 10 coupon either. If its on their website thats ridiculous. They said its only in New York. They also said they dont do double couponing, but they are on the list you posted previously. If a company is a corporation thats all over the country they should have the same policies and offers across the board. They were very rude about it too. But I guess you can tell why their stores usually look empty of people and Target and Walmart are always full.
Branson told me yesterday they weren’t doing doubles either.
Kmart Management is so uninformed! I would even go there if it wasn’t for these type of events.
Esther – thanks for the tip on Springfield, MO stores, I guess I won’t waste my time. Funny that they said that it is for NY only when the page that took you to it was talking about a CHICAGO grand opening and the coupon itself states “Valid at all Kmart Store Locations.”
UGH! Another reason not to go there.
I just went to Kmart and scored the Princess & the Frog DVD for $6.00. I think I was lucky since the $10 off $20 coupon would not scan. The supervisor had to fudge it. I did not give a hassle but I thought it was nice of her to do that. She said they had gotten a couple of the same coupon earlier, those would not scan either and she had to do the same thing. Then on top of it she took the $5 of coupon for the DVD. I think luck was on my side today. Good luck everyone else.

I was able to use my coupons (2) at the Colorado Springs location. The coupons beeped and 3 of the cashiers worked together to figure out how to do it manually. They also took the Huggies coupons. Yeah!
I got an email from kmart with the coupon. I live in chicagoland. Have not had a chance to use it. My sister used it in Iowa with no problems.
Just used my coupon from the webiste at Homewood, IL (Chicagoland) store, it didn’t beep, went through fine. I bought 2 Huggies, 1 Always and they took 3 manufacuers coupons with the $10/20 coupon from Kmart.

I read in another blog that Kmart St. Louis will not accept the coupon because it was meant just for CHICAGO area!!!??? what a bummer!! what’s going on with Kmart!!!
During the last double Q week, I found some good deals but noticed that their prices were significantly higher than WM and Target. Many items weren’t a good deal at all, even with the higher value double Q’s. I’ll go again in April and see what I can find, and will bring along my $10 Q just in case! 😉 Have a good weekend everyone.

Last week, Target became the first national retail giant to offer a scannable mobile coupon program. A cashier redeems the coupon by taking a hand-held scanner and passing it over the phone’s screen.
Cell phone users access the coupons by texting the word “coupons” to 827438 (TARGET). The cell phone user then receives a text with a link to a mobile Web page that contains several offers, all accessible through a single bar code. Among this month’s offers are 75 cents off a bag of M&M’s, said Target spokeswoman Leah Guimod.
I hope other retailers follow suit! That would be great to access coupons via mobile! Think how much paper we could save!
I’m not really surprised here… if it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is. I can’t be mad at KMART, either. A lot of these scenarios are basically asking them to take the price of some merchandise out of their pocket. It’s not the same as with a regular coupon, where they will be repaid.
Except that Kmart is the one who came out with this coupon. It was their idea!

went in this morning and got the diaper deal after coupon was scrutinized by 2 cashiers, the manager, the managers manager and corporate happened to be in there also. The comments were “OH these are those coupons”. Everyone was very nice and yet very confused over the coupon. They finally manually gave me 10.00 off because the coupon wanted to only give me 3.00 off? Anyway got home, and saw so many concerns about whether or not the coupon was fraudulent or not. I called my K-Mart store and explained that I was willing to bring the diapers back ( Couponers get such a bad name for things like this) but the manager assured me that Corporate OK’ed it so they want me to continue to come to K-mart. OK my conscious is clear. And I want to say that everyone at my K-Mart store in Adrian, Mi was altho’ confused about the coupon, also very friendly.

I did it last night at 144th, it worked, this morning, they manually put it in but would not combine manu. coupons. I then went to the West Maple Kmart where they accepted both, but it did beep. That was 9 am.
I’ll have to try it at the 50th store

I am ONLY going to K-Mart for the coupon doubles because I live 3-4 minutes from it and I pass it on my way to everything. I still haven’t decided what I want to use.

I called the store in Douglasville, GA and was told that the coupon was not being accepted there. She said that it only intended for “New York” and was only a one-day deal. No idea where the “New York” thing came from….I did see “Chicago” on the site when I clicked for the coupon, but not New York. Another reason to NOT shop kmart.
My cashier told me that the manager was not happy the coupon was on the web site and was trying to decide last night when he was going to stop taking them. How is that right when it does not expire until may? if not for double or coupons like this I won’t shop there.
I used my $10 off today at K-mart in Boca Raton, FL and they took it no problem. I scored the Princess Tiana doll and DVD for $7.35. I may go back tonight for another set. I’m sorry to her of all the problems that some are having.

I called Kmart after my coupon wouldn’t work. They told me that if I already have it printed out it should work next week. They will not be putting it back onto their website though. Apparently it was only supposed to be of Illinois stores. They are going to make it work for everyone else though. So don’t throw away your coupon.
THESE COUPONS WERE MEANT FOR CERTAIN STORES ONLY. The CHICAGO KMART coupon was a mistake because they forgot to add the list of stores in Chicago they would be accepted at. Baltimore Kmart now has a coupon for certain stores and those are listed on the coupon.
This was the answer I got from a phone call this morning from my store. Apparently a letter has been sent to all stores explaining not to accept this coupon UNLESS the that store is listed on the coupon.
They did not accept the $10 off $20 at Ontario, OR and stated all the Idaho stores have been told not to accept it. The manager claimed it was a coupon you received after signing up for a credit card in the state of New York, even though it states on the coupon it can be used at any location. What a waste of a trip!

I don’t really know where to put this. I bought 2 princess and the frog movies today. And it seems that they will not let me enter in 2 disney movie reward codes for both of the movies I bought. (I am guessing you can only enter one reward per title). So if someone did not buy princess and the frog here is a one time code for someone. KXF6T7HCRD4. The coupon is working in Kent, WA without any beeps or questions asked! I did make sure to have my rewards card scanned first though. I bought 2 Quilted Northern (12 roll) and 1 package of Brawny (3 roll), used 3 manufactured q’s (from RedPlum) plus the $10 off Q. Oh, and the $5 catalina printed!!! My total came to $10.29 and i’ll be submitting the $5 rebate too. Sooo EVERYTHING for .29! Woohoo!
For those in Pierce Co WA: I called all 5 stores & only the Lakewood location said they were accepting it.
I tried to use one in florida. The man said I was using a fake one. I explained to him that I got it from Kmart.com. He stated they are only valid in NY. and he wouldn’t honor it, so I guess the only thing I lost was time but I’ll just stick to shopping at Target and Publix where they honor coupons with no battles!

I have not used the coupon but if you read it, it says VALID AT ALL KMART STORE LOCATIONS. If they only wanted it used in certain parts of the country, why didn’t they just list those states? I live in North Carolina and there are only one or two Kmarts around me and I hate to shop there. The don’t double coupons and are so unorganized. No wonder Walmart and Target are doing better – this just adds another reason to stay away!
I got kind of the same answer….Only accpeted at certain stores they said it was a mistake that the stores were not listed on the coupons and that they would fix it but it would take time to get all stores notified.
I kinda knew it was too good to be true. Plus the one barcode had me wondering….most have 2 barcodes these days.

I went to the Fargo, ND store this morning and had no trouble using it. I saw 2 other women with it and they used it without any trouble so I figured I was safe. I used the same cashier they had. I bought Pullups this time and a candy filler for $1, my son wanted whoppers. =) They took the $10/$20 first and then the 2 $2/1 Pullups coupons that were attached to the packages. No beeps, questions or problems. I will hav eto make at least 1 more trip tonight to see if I can get stuff again. Sorry others are have trouble using this. I am looking forward to double coupons but don’t like that it is tied to the card but that is their way of stopping multiple transactions.

1st of all walking into my kmart i like a time warp! I feel like its 1986 again…so dingy. I tried to do the princess and the frog deal, NO LUCK! she said it was part of the bogo deal with the doll. so I bought the stuff anyway with the $5 printable. Then I tried to use the coupon $10/20 at the main registers I bought (5) downy. she used the $10 off coupon but refused to use my (5) 1$P&G coupons. I bought it anyway but might return it… I am just so disgusted with that place!
I used 2 of the coupons last night in St Cloud, MN. I asked at the service counter before shopping. All of the items I purchased were either sale or clearance items, and both the customer service manager and the cashier were enthusiastic and helpful.
I used three this morning at the St. Cloud, MN store – they didn’t know how to handle it, but worked with the manager to give me three gift cards each worth $10 and used one then on each transaction. The manager did say that they were expecting an alert from corporate on how to deal with these as obviously they cannot take the time to do the gift card scenario with masses of these – it took about 30 minutes by the time I was finally checked out.
I was excited about the Double Coupon Event but the way they handled this situation has made me decide not to even go. First they issue a coupon that states it may be used at any KMART location, then they realize many customers are (SHOCKING) using at their locations. They then refuse to honor the coupon at many of their locations and even accuse some shoppers of trying to use a fraudulent coupon. Finally, they repost the coupon but list only a handful of locations it will be accepted. That’s not the type of customer service I want.
I’ve never head of the Kmart Double Coupon event. I called my local Kmart & the woman I talked with said they do participate, but only if it’s in their add? My Kmart is on the participating list from April 4th through the 10th. So…?
It seems like with the Shop Your Way Rewards card they are trying to track our shopping. I hope the card doesn’t “alert” them that I was in the store previously and already doubled my 5 coupons.
That’s the whole point of using the rewards card. A lot of cashiers were doubling more than the limit of 5, so this time they are tracking. Once your card posts 5 doubled coupons, you won’t be able to use it again to double coupons for that day.
Well this is ridiculous. Why would they post that on their website and then try to do new coupons with only certain stores on them. Are they going to pay us for the wasted ink and paper? I doubt that! I think I will be calling customer service after work. Thanks for posting Collin I appreciate you finding the deals for us.
Ok, I see where Morehead City is participating in the double q days, so I signed up for my card. I’ve never tried using any coupons in there yet, so I think before I waste my time shopping for anything, I’ll swing by the customer service desk first. Thanks, Collin!
Ok. So here’s the deal with this I found this morning. This coupons WAS A VALID COUPON. So for all those claiming fraud, it was NOT. Someone had reposted the Q (as in you ddin’t have to go to their site to print it) and Kmart found it. Supposedly the dumb dumb posted it right on Kmarts Facebook page. Within an hour the Kmart site was closed for ‘maintenence’ and when it came back up the coupon was gone. This was a valid deal and someone ruined it.
You know what tics me off about this whole situation? The fact that Kmart cries fraudulent coupon when everyone gets the coupon, and then resubmits the Kmart coupon with the same exact barcode and everything, but now with a list of stores that it will be accepted at. How the hell did Hackers tap into their system, post a FRAUDULENT coupon, then somehow listen to all of their customer service calls, realise that Kmart found the FRAUDULENT coupon, took it off of their website, and then the so called Hackers, put the same FRAUDULENT coupon back on Kmart’s website, with a listing of the stores that are allowed by Kmart to take this coupon! Sounds like Kmart is another company that cries foul when people start using the coupon smartly.
Why is it they only give the good deals to big cities? I live in a small town in southeastern Ky. and Kmarts are around me but it is a 20 to 30 mile drive to one. Their prices are higher than Wal-mart here and with the Penneys and Peebles coupons I can get better clothes at the same or cheaper prices. WE need good coupons too and more double coupon days. Only one store out of the 3 around me may do double coupons and apparent;y I should call first if I decide to try going there. If they want my business they need to try harder around here. There are usually very few people in the stores when I go in except at Christmas when all the stores are busy.. By contrast the Walmart parking lot is always full. I too never go to K-mart unless I really really want something and Wal-mart didn’t have it. I ran the $10 Off $20 coupon but have no idea if anyone will take it here. In my book it is their mistake and they should honor them-period.
I knew the $10/20 coupon was too good to be true. My Kmart is horrible, has never done double coupons and is terribly un-professional and rude EVERY single time I’ve been there. I will skip out on even trying the coupon scenario AND the double coupon event. I will instead go to Target where Huggies are on sale 2/$17. I can use (2) $1.50/1 Target coupons and (2) $3/1 MFC to get Huggies for just $4 a pack! That is a great deal in my opinion and I won’t have any hassle!
