Have You Found Your Favorite Printer?!

Due to the large number of emails that I receive related to printers and ink, I thought it only appropriate to ask all of you to help me out with this topic of discussion. Although my printer works just fine, I am definitely not impressed with it enough to advertise and promote it on Hip2Save. So that brings me to the question at hand…do you have a printer that you absolutely love (or hate..it is always important to know what printers to avoid in the future). Here is an example of one of the emails that I recently received about this topic from reader, Amy…

I would love a post asking people what the best printers are out there. Since we are all frugal on this site, I would love to take into account purchase price, price of toner, and how long toner last. My boss lets me print some at work because we have an amount we are charged for regardless if we hit it (and we never do) but at home is a different story. I only print the ones I DEFINITELY want. This would just be a great way for everyone to help out each other when certain excellent printers go on sale. I love your site and thanks!

Do YOU have a favorite printer?! If so, please share the brand name, model number and about how much you paid for it. What do you like about this printer?

Where do you purchase your ink? Do you have any tips for snagging cheap ink that is not of poor quality?

For all you experienced couponers, how much do you spend on ink each month printing coupons (this is great information for new couponers who often wonder if they will spend more printing the coupons than what they will save using the coupons)?

If you have ideas, suggestions, feedback etc, let us know in the comment section below.

123inkjets.com is the ONLY place to purchase ink. saves us tons of money!!!!

    • Nina

I buy from 123injets.com too. They have great prices and the cartridges work great! Then I take the empties to Staples to recycle and get $2 for each one.

    • Les

Has anyone tried the re-manufactured ink jets? Does anyone know the shipping costs to Hawaii? I always get my ink @ the NEX cuz the shipping costs usually kill any savings. HP has free shipping but the NEX is still cheaper. Thanks πŸ˜‰

  2. Dawn

My favorite printer is at work!

    • where's the deal

Does your company approve or are you stealing?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

how rude can u be!!! haven’t you learnt to mind your own business?!?

      • judge ye lest ye be judged

        Hello Judge. Wow.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

haaa that crap is funny…. get over yourself.. you would do it too if you could…. bllaaaahhhhh

          • where's the deal

What’s rude is stealing and then announcing that you steal.

      • Dawn

Really…..going to get all worked up about my comment. Dont you have better things to do, thy Holy One πŸ™‚

        • where's the deal

That’s great if your company doesn’t mind. Mine does because we have leased copiers and we pay for every one. And that is why I ASKED if the company allowed it OR was it stealing. I’m sorry, but if the company doesn’t know, or has a policy against it, it is stealing – not being holier than whatever, or judging – I was ASKING.

I really do have an interest in these things. It seems that overall, people have blurred alot of lines between right and wrong and I truly am curious about how people see things.

If your company says do not use our equipment for personal use and you do, I think that is wrong. If you don’t, you don’t. I just happen to disagree with you.

      • Laura

I am sure her company does not view it as stealing… I know my company does not… plus they love all the coupon freebie I bring in that they can’t pay for with company money… like half off lunch for the entire office, or free oatmeal for a week…. or cookies and candy when I can get it as a MoneyMaker or nearly free… it is a great relationship for A LOT of people….

ALSO a *TIP* … if you are going to buy a replacement printer at a box store see if they will offer you an $$ to take your old one… that is what DBF and I did… we got $50 off our new printer for taking one in to be recycled that didnt even work!! they dont care!

    • Kelly

Me too Dawn! I dont’ get paid for overtime and I do a lot of it, so I figure this is a good way to even the score. πŸ™‚

      • where's the deal

Ahhh – was waiting for that – the company deserves to be stolen from.

If you aren’t getting paid overtime then you are probably salaried – which also means you can leave for appointments etc early. If you are supposed to be being paid overtime and aren’t then report your company to the state labor board.

I love how people can so easily justify stealing.

    • angel

That’s crazy – mine is too!!!!!

    • Jennifer

My favorite printer is at work also! I don’t print coupons at work but I just love how easy it is to use, change the toner, etc! It is bulky, but I SO want one for my house.

  3. Karina F.

I have the BEST printer. It is a wireless printer, so I can print from anywhere in my house without wires! It is the Brother MFC-495CW Printer. I bought it from Office Max online a few months ago. It was $100 plus I got $40 officemax perks money. So it was like paying $60. The ink is expensive if you buy the name brand. I found an refilled brand on ebay with cartridges for $2.79 including free shipping. I use my printer constantly and I have go through about 1 cartridge every month or two. HTH!

    • Jennifer

Thanks for the info!! I have been searching for a good, inexpensive wireless printer. πŸ™‚

    • Jaime

I have an older model Brother printer MFC 240C. It was free as part of a bonus incentive from my former employer (even better). It is an awesome printer. I print several pages a day and usually only change the cartridges every 4- 6 months. I found generic cartridges that are compatible with the Brother printer on Databazaar.com for only $10 (includes black and all 3 color cartridges). The same cartridges are over $40 at Walmart. I definitely recommend my printer as well as the Databazaar website.

      • Jennifer

How much paper can you put in at a time? My current printer can only hold like 10 sheets… If I get a wireless I don’t want to have to run around putting paper in all the time! LOL πŸ™‚

  4. Angie

I like my Lexmark all in one. It prints, scan, faxes and copies. It was only $30 and takes a while to use up an ink cartridge. If it were wireless it would be perfect!

  5. Barbara

My husband bought an old office Laserjet printer off of ebay for $10 plus $40 shipping. I was aghast at the ugly thing, but one cartridge $80 lasts us slightly over two years. To put the amount of printing into perspective, we are both Master’s students who print out reams of paper at a time, and use it for every day printing. For color printing I use a cheapie printer/scanner/copier (I turn it on perhaps once a month as black and white printing is my mainstay) and get my photos printed at artscow.com or snapfish.com when they have their sales.

    • Laura

We have an old HP too, we got it 2 years ago and have not needed new ink. It prints only in B&W and I have never had a problem using my coupons!

      • Nicole

we have a laserjet which i love, but it has the old hookups so itwont connect to any of our computers bc they are new and connect with usb. πŸ™

        • Karen O

You can buy a parallel port to USB converter for your old printter… I bought one from Amazon.com for about $15. Just check to make sure whether your parallel port needs to be a female or male connector for your model. I used mine for 2 or 3 years before my 13 y.o. HP gave up the ghost. Added benny was it was so easy to switch the USB end between multiple computers (I have 2 laptops) by using the front port on my desktop πŸ˜›

  6. michele

my printer just died It was HP photosmart. I’m looking for one now. It died after I started using a refilled/ recycled cartridge. Maybe that is what did it in. Not sure. Hope I can find a cheap one in the future. I can’t print out my coupons right now πŸ™

    • judge ye lest ye be judged

oh man! I had a HP photosmart 3300 series and it died after I put a NEW cartridge in. Unfortunately it was a Magenta one and it LEAKED out! What a mess and it stained everything. I haven’t bought a new one yet because that one was so expensive to keep in ink… but I loved it was wireless and could fax, copy, print etc.

    • Kelly

I’ve been told it’s important not to use refills. They might be a little bit cheaper at first but they will soon destroy your print.

    • Stacy

I also have an HP photosmart (8250) which died (ink system failure) when I used a refilled/recycled cartridge. I like the printer but am somewhat reluctant to buy another HP because their tech support was so unhelpful, they told me the printer was dead and there was nothing they could do but sell me a new one and give me free shipping. Turns out there is a patch to at least temporarily bring the printer “back to life” that HP would not divulge. I found the link to download from a tech site forum and have been happily printing coupons for the last month and a half.

  7. ginger

I am a stay at home mom so printing at home is for the most part my only option. I have a Kodak EasyShare printer and LOVE IT!! For both black and color ink it is only around $30! I can print pictures and coupons on the same printer and both look great! I even have a seperate slot for 4×6 paper. I did have an issue where it was not printing even after I changed the ink. I did a trouble shoot online and it was the toner. Kodak sent me a new toner for FREE!! NO SHIPPING either!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have the same printer but have problems printing coupons on regular paper. I have to use photo paper or it wont come out right Do you use regular paper or photo? If regular, how do you get it to come out normal looking instead of half printed?

    • Erin

I did love my Kodak ESP printer – but it up and started printing funny, died and never worked again. The claimed a new printhead but it cost almost as much as the printer. Only lasted us about 18 months or so. I now use a Lexmark all in one that works great – just wish it were wireless.

    • Becky

I have a Kodak as well and I love it! The color ink is only 15 dollars at my Target and the Black ink is only 9.99 The only thing I don’t like about it is that you can’t print in only black ink if the color cartridge is empty. But I think a lot of printers are actually like that. Or maybe there is a setting I don’t know about.

      • Karen

I have a kodak printer too…loved it at first, but then the paper started getting jammed and it only prints correctly about 35% of the time…It is giving me the bigest headache! I’ve wasted so much paper and ink, not to mention all the coupons that I cant print because the computer thinks I reached my print limit when only a black page shot out! :<

  8. RebekahNicole05

I just bought a new printer, and I would say that wireless is the only way to go, especially if you are printing from multiple computers! I bought a Epson 615 all in one printer, and I love it! The ink is not the cheepest, but it lasts longer than most brands, and a huge perk is that all Epson printer come with full cartridges of ink, where most ones come with 1/2 full ink cartridges. I bought it at Sams Club for like $100.00.

  9. RebekahNicole05

Forgot to say the whole reason I bought this one was because all of the ink cartridges are seperate (ie. the red, cyan, yellow, and black) so when your red runs out, you don’t have to throw out all of the yellow and cyan, you can just replace the red πŸ™‚

  10. Erica

My husband and I just have a basic HP Photosmart C440 series printer that came for free with my computer. The ink is pretty expensive if you buy a brand new cartridge every time but we like to take ours to Costco to get them refilled. We’ve gone to a couple of different places and had really bad experiences but one day decided to try costco. They work great! You just take them to the photo center and within a couple of hours you have a cartridge that works like new. Also, I think it is usually around $10 to get them refilled. The one thing to keep in mind if you decide to refill your cartridges is that you need to make sure you take them in before they have dried out. We try to go in the same or next day after we notice the ink is out. If you wait too long, you’ll have to buy a new one anyway.

Also, since my husband is still in college we will go to campus and print of coupons there as well. That way, we don’t pay for the ink, the paper, or the energy costs to run the printer. I think it’s only 5 cents a page down there and when you are getting something for free, 5 cents is a small price to pay to print the coupon.

  11. Danielle

we just bought a new kodak printer, it is good but slow. I totally wish I would have paid extra for wireless!

  12. Tracy

I like the Kodak EasyShare printer however the tech support it not good i’m having issues with mines right now. Hp is a good printer and i go to Walgreens and get my ink refill for 10 dollars for color refill and i think 7 for B& W is good for my pocketbook.

  13. deezaphine

I have an HP all-in-one deskjet F4180 and I’m not very happy with it. The HP cartridges are expensive and the stores always have to use a gun scanner to get my coupons to work….they look fuzzy. I definitely want to upgrade to something nicer.

  14. jiya

I have kodak easyshare………………….it’s ink is expensive $30.00 & it goes really fast. The problem is that u can’t get refill for it.

  15. Erika

We have a continuous flow ink system. It it so cost effective! And I never have to change cartridges.

    • Elizabeth Sellers

Erika, can you tell us more about the continuous ink flow system? or links to it?

    • donna

I have never heard of a continuous ink flow. Is it brand specific?

    • Rebecca

what kind of printer is this for?

  16. sarah

I have a used HP laserjet printer i got when one of my companies were getting rid of old equipment. I only use one toner a year roughly and it runs about 40 one. For color or copying i have a HP inkjet and since i don’t use it enough we don’t spend alot on toner for that. But the lasers can print the most for the cost of the toner vs an inkjet. Plus they tend to be quicker. Mine has wireless too so i can print from anywhere. I second looking for an used one vs new since they are expensive.

  17. Keegan

Epson Workforce 310 does a great job for me. Megatoners offers low prices on ink. For my Epson it cost $2.99 per ink.

  18. reeses_dream

I recently purchased a wireless printer (LOVE IT!) it is $79 at best buy. I had $40 in Best Buy rewards so I got it for $39! The black ink for it is $15 & the color is $20. I used the refill ink service from Walgreens and was NOT impressed! My printer is a Canon MX340 and it copies (flatbed) scans, faxes, and of course prints. I LOVE IT!

    • Erin

I have heard good things about the Canon Wireless – maybe I should look into this one

  19. Mary

We have a Epson workforce 600. $160 to buy. wireless. They have GOOD customer support. Although, we have had 3 replacements sent to us in the last year where this printer has messed up.

We have Kodak ESP 5200 also. Its wireless. $100 to buy.The ink is only $25 to change and it seriously will print over 250 pages per ink change. I print ALOT of coupons!!

  20. Heather W

I have two printers. I buy all of my ink off ebay unless there is a really good deal. I got the newer printer because our new laptop has Windows 7 and it didn’t work with the old printer. The new printer is an HP Deskjet F2430. I had it 4 months and the power cord stopped working. I contacted HP in April and I still don’t have any resolution. HP seems to have the WORST customer service, so if you are looking to buy a new printer I would not recommend them. It is absolutely ridiculous. Unless you want to pay for something you can only use four months…buy from a different company.

  21. anon

i shop ink at http://www.ocinkjet.com..i think their prices are reasonable if you have the right printer (my old printer was Really cheap for refurb cartridges, but the printer broke and my new one is pricier…so i guess you just have to see). also their shipping is ALWAYS free and really fast. i only live an hour from them, so that could have something to do with it, but one time i got it the day after ordering!

    • Elizabeth Sellers

i was just reading on their site that they have a referral program so if you want to post your referral number we all could use it and you would get 5% credit

      • Hollie

I have a question about this site. I want to be able to get my cartridge filled at Walgreens but I have to order a certain # off the Lexmark website that they don’t sell in stores. If I order a compatible ink cartridge off this website do you know if it can be refilled?

  22. Tracey

I bought an HP 300CLP color laser on Black Friday year before last. It was $99! I have found the toner at http://www.supermediastore.com. Last time they ran a sale I was able to get 4 toners of each color (cyan, magneta, yellow and black) for less than $50 shipped AND they also sent a 4GB flash drive. Toner lasts pretty well too! I think this printer has been discontinued now but I still love it!

  23. StephanieS

We own two Epson printers and love them. They are different than most printers in that they use 4 individual cartridges so you only need to replace a single color when it runs out. Also, I buy most of our cartridges from http://www.databazzar.com, fast free shipping.

  24. Carol

I love all-in-one printers. Used to have an Epson, now have a Canon. The best feature is having a print preview show before each print (even Bricks–but that doesn’t work on my laptop… only desktop).

I refill my own cartridges, which saves a LOT of money. People were recommending Hobbicolors ink. I think I got mine through eBay (years ago because the bottles are huge) but also available at their dot com site. Very good quality ink. Not that hard once you get the hang of using the syringe.

  25. Takako

I used to have Lexmark. My friend gave to me (less than 2 years old) so it was free to me but not liked at all. I have HP now and happy with it. Although we don’t have any problems, I’m interested in to purchase Kodak because I saw lots of positive comments from other site.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have a Lexmark wireless to..do no like it at all. It works only about 50% of the time and uses a ton of ink

  26. Julie M

    Brother HL-2141

You can get these at Office Depot VERY VERY cheap on clearance as a refurb or cheap after mail in rebate.(my mom got hers at Staples for $40 after MIR)

I have 2 (one is a refurb and one was new both were super super cheap after MIR)
and both were less than $50 Both have lasted over a year, I have printed over 3000 “legit” coupons and just barely need the 2nd replacement toner that we bought last year.

There is a trick (found on youtube) to make your OEM toner stretch out longer, it usually runs out after 300 sheets or so until you do the “trick”.

Buy the toner on meritline.com when they run the multi-pack specials (less than $14.99 per toner with free shipping) subscribe to their emails or watch for sales on the toner, they run free ship and or super cheap toner often.

We replaced the toner once in the last year and NEVER EVER had any problems using their non brand toner.

The trick is to order it when its on sale and “before” you need it (which if you buy the brother hl2140, go to meritline and order the toner then)

The toner comes from overseas hongkong?, and takes a couple of weeks.
Their hl2140 non brand repladcement toner lasts over 1000 prints and hasn’t harmed either my new or refurbed laser printers.

This is by far the cheapest, long lasting and BEST coupon printing machine I have ever had. I have never had a problem, never blurry upc codes and VERY USER FRIENDLY.

    • Julie M

I forgot to say that we have to HP Photosmart Plus all in one, as well as an epson and a Kodak printer.

Lets just say that the laser printer leaves the rest of them in the dust annual “cost wise”

      • Julie M

I should have pointed out that this Brother hl-2140 is a laser printer
        Spent $40 after MIR
within 1 month spent $14.99 for replacement toner thru meritline.(the original toner that these come with are not meant for more than 300 prints)
replacement off brand toner lasted thru over 1000 prints

have not spent ANY MONEY OOP for one yr now except for paper.

I will never buy a printer that requires “ink cartridge” ever again.

Not that hard once you get the hang of using the syringe and wearing a plastic glove.

  28. Jesicca

I have a HP printer I bought from Sams Club at home. I bought a XL ink cartridge the last time for $50 and havent had to buy more since a very long time. HP has a good reputation for printers. From personal experience I can tell that the ink does not dry unlike a “Brother” or Canon printer. I have a 901 cartiridge which walgreens does not refill but you know Sams has a cheap refill kit of $20 and you can refill ink on you own.

For coupons I like laser printers though, they are fast, use less ink and get the job does right.

  29. Maggie

Get a real laser printer, not an ink jet! The cost-per-page to print is astonishingly lower if you just print in black-and-white using a laser printer. They are a totally different animal than inkjets.

The commercial-grade refurbished Lexmark Optra we bought for a couple hundred bucks ten years ago still going strong, and we’re only on our THIRD toner cartridge. It’s never needed servicing, either. The cartridges cost over $100, but you get at least 15,000 prints off each high-yield cartridge. Then you can buy a $20 kit and refill them yourself over and over! It’s easy to do (you just poke a hole with the tool provided, use the little tiny funnel they give you to pour in the black toner, and then use the plug they give you for the hole). We refilled the same cartridge quite a few times for just a few bucks worth of toner.

Bonus: laser printers print so much more cleanly and crisply than ink jets that the bar codes on coupons (even tiny ones) always come out perfectly scannable, with visible gray-scale water marks.

I don’t have any current model numbers to offer, but I’d look at Consumer Reports to see when they last reviewed laser printers.

    • Allison

I completely agree with this. I have an Samsung ML-1450 that’s been running since college, and I’ve only had to replace the toner cartridge once or twice in the span of 8 years. Also, the print is extremely sharp and I’ve never had any problems with the coupon scanning or a cashier questioning whether or not the coupon was photocopied.

  30. Sunny Mulkey

We use a Dell printer. The ink is very expensive but it lasts FOREVER! We also have a Cannon i9900, which we bought to print pictures off of. My husband got online and did some research and found a continuous ink system. It’s been so worth it. I’ll use it every now and then too to print off coupons or papers just because the ink is so cheap, but the quality is wonderful!

  31. Robin

I have a wireless kodak which is nice and the ink is only about $25 for color and black and I use it up in about 3 months so to me thats not so horrible, but Im sure it could be better. Is that good?

  32. Nicole85

Have a super basic HP Inkjet printer. It was $25 on Amazon plus free shipping. Used a Swagbucks gift card to pay for a portion of it. Definately my frugal, coupon printing printer.

  33. Steph

I have a clunky ancient HP LaserJet. We have had it for years and have never had to replace the toner! I print tons of coupons and other things (I’m a teacher) and are pleased with the quality of the printouts.

  34. Brigi

My fave printer is Lexmark, I had it for about 6 years now. I buy ink from Ebay or Staples.

  35. susan w

I have several printers but I really like the 4 in ones and there HP printers and I always buy ink at itrimming.com

    • susan w

shipping is always free on itrimming.com

  36. Amanda C

I have a HP Photosmart C6180 All in one and I can’t stand it! Half the time the wireless doesn’t work it goes through ink extremely fast, the ink cartridges expire so it’s nearly impossible to get them refilled, and when one color goes out it will print in B&W 10 pages before the entire thing locks up and you can’t print at all. I’d avoid this one.

  37. Qpon Saving Mommas

    I have a laser printer Brother HL-2140
    It prints great and fast.

  38. jenna

We use inkgrabber.com and we go through ebates. I usually buy a ten pack, so I get 7 blacks and 3 colored for $25 roughly, and then like $6 from Ebates so it’s worth it to me. I was using a Canon pixma ip 1500 and that thing lasted 6 years! That is when I was buying through Inkgrabber. They also have free shipping codes so check often. Our printer just died 2 days ago so I am waiting on my new one from Canon. We also have a HP Photosmart C4480 that we got for Christmas and it’s awful for printing coupons because everything prints waaaay lightly and the numbers under the barcodes don’t print at all! Plus the ink is like $40 a cartridge!!

  39. Erin

I have an HP Laserjet 1320. I love it. It prints beautifully and the toner lasts forever. Better yet, an Office Max opened last year and they had a couple excellent promotions. The first fifty in the store got a coupon for a free *case* of paper every month for six months! The next month, the first fifty got a $50 coupon toward toner every month for six months. Needless to say, we stocked up.

  40. Michelle

I order cartridges for my Dell720 through http://www.4inkjets.com. I bought my printer at a garage sale for $2 and has been working faithfully for 2 years now. I think inkjet printers are cheaper than laser. Laser printer cartridges are soooo expensive!

  41. Anon

We have a big expensive Ricoh laser printer, and it was great for a couple of years. Only had to replace the black ink once on it. But now, it needs a drum or something replaced, and prints a blank line right through my bar codes on coupons, so I can’t use it anymore. It will be several hundred dollars to fix, so I’m definitely on a hunt for a cheaper replacement printer!

    • Jennifer

Why don’t you replace the drum? I have to replace the drum for my printer at work every so often. I don’t know how much they cost but it is very easy to do. Usually a line like that means it needs to be cleaned…

  42. Abby

I’m pretty into my Kodak ESP3250..printer..scanner..copier. Black ink is just under $10..and when they run out, I just head back to OfficeMax and turn them in for $3 in MaxPerks! πŸ™‚

  43. Erika C.

I LOVE my Canon MP560! It’s wireless so I can print coupons from my laptop while I’m on my front porch drinking coffee. I replace one color at a time, which I also love, and get my ink from 123inkjets.com using Ebates. To replace all my ink at once, through them with shipping is 35.50. I print a lot but never go through more than one set of ink refills a month. Then with Staples ink rebates, I do pretty well.

  44. Tenessa

I bought a continuous ink system for my printer and haven’t looked back! I paid about $65 for it and it came with ink. It’s been over a year and I just had to buy ink refills for it and they were $18. I was enough for 2 refills of the tank! If you can find one I say go to the Continuous ink systems!!! I bought mine at https://www.cisinks.com . Their refills were pricey but that was easily fixed on ebay!

I’ve got a Brother DCP-110C and it’s around 6yrs old (?) and it has taken a lot of abuse. It has separate inks but will not print if one ink is out (if cyan is out you can’t print even if you are printing with just black ink. WalMart sell refills for around $13.00 for color cartridges and around $27.47(online price) for black. Wags no longer refills the cartridges for this printer. I tend to purchase 1 ink cartridge every 3 months (color will vary) and that’s with printing coupons, recipes, kids homework assignments etc.

I just ordered from Clickinks.com for the first time just to get swagbucks and the cost was $4.45 shipped (free shipping) which is the cheapest I’ve ever seen for black ink for my printer. I was really happy to find that price but I haven’t received my order yet so I can’t talk about the quality just yet.

I would recommend this printer to someone who is just looking for a reliable, sturdy, no big frills, family printer. If I were to upgrade I choose a similar wireless version.

Definitely do NOT buy a Lexmark Z2300. I bought it at an outlet store for $10 but I can use it for less than a week and be out of ink. I am not a crazy printer person – I know I print less than 100 sheets before I need to replace the cartridge. The only cartridges you can find for this printer in stores are remanufactured so I don’t know if that has something to do with it. It’s still $27 for a remanufactured color cartridge – way overpriced I think.

Oh I’m with you on this one!!! I have a Lexmark Z1300 and I think I can go about 2 weeks and it’s out of ink! I called customer service and they said it all depends on how much you print. Well I know for a fact that I only print maybe 50 pages if that before it runs out of ink. I wish it has a counter on it so I could prove to them that it’s a piece of crap! I can’t have the cartridges refilled unless I buy a special one from Lexmark. I got a double pack of ink by doing an ad match at walmart and it was like $37 but I think it only lasted about a month! When my husband found out that I was out of ink already he about blew his top!!! I only bought this printer because I was getting married and needed something to print invitations with. I don’t think we spent much on it but had I known now that it would be this much of a pain I would have spent a little more and got a nice one!

I have a Canon MX700 and I HATE it! The paper jams constantly. I buy my ink from clickinks.com. Go through Ebates for an added ‘bonus’. I’ve been buying the remanufactured and had a problem with one color. They sent out a replacement for me.

BTW I have had some terrible experiences with the Kodak printers! Every single one I’ve seen have either torn up or had to have Kodak send a print head replacement. I work in IT in the local school system and we have about 4 at one of our schools. They are nothing but trouble IMO. Needless to say we have not bought anymore of those !

ok, I am a diehard SAMSUNG printer fan

I am brutal to my printer meaning I am using it constantly. I go through a ream of paper easy every day. Not just for coupons but I also have a home business.

This is the second model of SAMSUNG that I have owned. I currently use 3 of these in the office here at the house — yes I do massive printing

Anyhow — it is a Samsung ML-2250 — don’t start yelling at me – I know this model is discontinued and I so wish it was now, however my previous model was awesome as well. I have been using my current ones for over 5 years. They are still working great but I have been shopping around for my next model as I cannot expect them to last forever.

They are a laser printer. I buy the ink refills on ebay and they come out to about $5.00 a bottle. A bottle lasts me almost 2 months (per printer). About once a year I will buy a whole new ink toner cartridge because after awhile when you refill them they get a bit gunky.

Anyhow I feel this printer has been extremly cost effective. I have recommended the Samsung to several of my friends and all have been very pleased with them and always replaced them with another Samsung when they upgraded

    Hope this helps

On A PS — This printer cost me $100.00

I lmost bought the upgrade from it on Office Max about a month ago and I have been kicking myself for not doing it. They had one with Max Perks it would have come out to $50.00 after the Max Perks reward. So when they run that deal again I will be picking one up for a backup

I have a Canon MF5550 Laser All in One printer. My dad gave it to me for free because he got another one like it, only wireless. It’s the best. I’ve had it for almost a year now and he had it about 2 1/2 years before me. It’s never needed a new toner cartridge yet. Of course, I better knock on wood because sure as the world turns, it’ll need replacing tomorrow. Anyway, it prints everything so clearly. Plus, it gets a ton of use. I use it for home school and for when I was a teacher. Not to mention all the coupons. I would advise anyone to spend a little extra on getting a laser printer and even though the cartridges cost more, it’s a lot less in the long run. For example, it use to cost me around $40 every couple of months to replace cartridges in the 2 different ink jet printers I did use. That’s a minimum of $240 a year. And that might even be on the short end. Now, this cartridge costs a little over $100 for one, but lasts several years. Can’t beat that! Another example of a great laser printer is the Lexmark I had in my classroom. In the 7 years I taught the toner only had to be replaced the 5th year. And you can imagine how much a classroom printer gets used.
