(Thanks, Chi-Town Cheapskate!)
I don’t think I completely understand this program. So do you pay up front and then get credit towards other purchases? Also, say I purchase 6 of the 24 packs of folders. Will I get all 6 packs for free?
Is the reward in the form of store credit or a check?
Jennifer & Megan-
The MaxPerks Reward card is essentially like an Office Max gift card…you pay upfront for the items and then you are reimbursed on your rewards card for 100% of the cost of the items. For example, if you buy 6 file folders for $8.99 each, you will have to pay $53.94 up front but will then receive $53.94 back on your rewards card. You can then use the rewards card to make Office Max purchases in-store or online…you typically have 90 days to use the rewards before they expire. Hope this helps!
I am not fully understanding either, and when I click to enroll in the program it says either for a business or for teachers?
When I asked about this at the store they said if you work then you buy for business if you have a kid and teach them something (not homeschooled necessarily) you are a teacher. They said those were just the two main groups of people they target but they don’t check your credentials. The two types have different distribution system so check out which one works for you better.
I am confused on the ink rewards. Do I have to buy 2 2-packs to get $10 back?
yes
Wahoo, just in time for our Books & Backpacks program at work! FREE paper and FREE folders!!!
So is this not for personal purchases? Does anyone know? It had the option of business or teacher…. Hmmm, will have to find out. Sounds like a great program though.
I get all my printer ink from Office max and I hardly ever pay for it. If you turn in your old ink cartridges they give you $3 each for them. Yesterday I had $30 in Max perks from turning in old ink cartridges last month, so I bought 2 more ink multi-packs to qualify for an aditional $10 in max perks. And I turned in another 6 cartriges so next month I can buy another multi pack of ink for FREE. All I’ve spent was $27 for 3 multi-packs (that’s 6 cartridges) of ink that would have normally cost around $90. Everyone who buys ink should sign up for Max perks, it’s totally worth it – and much better than getting your cartridges refilled at Walgreen’s – they never work and they gum up your printer. Hope this makes sense!
Thanks! I never would have thought of that! I absolutely love that you pointed this out, what a great way to get cheap printer ink!! I mean, I’m buying the ink anyway, so it’s like I really am getting all this for free!!
I have a question. If you bring your ink in, do you have to wait until the end of the earning period to get your rewards? was the last earning period april-june? i can’t remember. I think at staples they give you a reward amount immediately for ink? does anyone know?
I suggest all teachers stock up on as much free stuff for you classroom as possible. As of January 1st, 2011 our idiot president is stopping us teachers from being able to write off on our taxes items we buy to use in our classrooms! Thanks Obama for yet another way we’re losing money under your administration!
Let’s say that you spend $50 each year on supplies for your classroom.Does your school have a PTA? A school PTA is a non-profit organization with a tax ID, etc. What if you gave $50 to the PTA president, president gives you a receipt saying you donated $50 which you can use on your taxes, and then the PTA gives you $50 to spend on your classroom? I know that our elementary school gives each teacher a certain dollar amount for classrooms at the beginning of the school year and teachers to turn in their receipts to the PTA, so this would be similar. The board or members may need to vote “Would we be in favor of giving $50 to teacher Jana for her classroom? Yes.” It’s a work around, but does give you the tax write off.
yes, a good work around! but, I think that all teachers spend WAY more than what is alloted them and usually on the spare of the moment when something is needed. It was a big help to me to be able to just save the reciepts and put that in on my taxes.
FYI: homeschool teachers qualify for the teacher discount
couldn’t you go through https://evreward.com and get a cashback % of your purchase?
pay attention to the listed $ amount…when I went through the above link, the folders were coming up $9.49 I called OfficeMax and she got the listed $8.99 price. I then went to my other computer, then directly to OfficeMax’s site…the price was $8.99 for the folders. So, odd that the price was different when I went through the above link.
Normally, I do these Office Max deals. This is NOT a good deal on the folders and the filler paper unless you do NOT have to pay tax. I ordered the folders and the filler paper and the tax on those items came to $5.03. When you get the Max rewards, they do not give you what you paid for tax. $5.03 is not a good price at this time because Staples and all of the other stores will have the folders for a penny and the filler paper for 10 cents or less very soon. When they have these deals, you will only pay 1 cent tax and get a MUCH better deal.
Ok, thanks for pointing that out, makes perfect sense!!
price of folders, $8.99 x sales tax (mine is 5.5%) and divided by 24 or 25 depending on which pack of folder you pick…I am looking at a 25 package which comes to .0197 cents for each folder
That is not figuring the cashback I can earn with an online purchase 3% right now at some (see evreward.com) which would help offset the cost of the folders.
How often does Office Max offer full purchase price reward items?
My daughter is getting ready to head off to college next month so we are trying to get as much stuff for as little as possible before she leaves. I ordered 6 of the notebook paper and 1 of the 2-pocket folders @ around 4:30 yesterday morning and it was all on my doorstep by 2:30 this afternoon!!!! I have never gotten anything I ordered online this quick! I am a very satisfied customer and I will definitely order online the next time they offer such a good deal! Thanks Collin!!!!
