As 2010 is coming to an end, I thought it would be fun to look back at the last 12 months and share my favorite deals and have you share your favorite deal(s) that you were able to score! Although there have been some deals that did not work out quite as well as we all had planned, there were many deals that turned out even better than we expected!

Here are some of my personal favorite “Hip” deals from 2010…

Amazon Diaper Deals (I know a lot of you snagged diapers and wipes at some amazing prices!)
EO Bubble Bath 3 pack for 96¢ shipped (regularly $40!)
FREE $20 Gilt credit which made for some FREE items!
Pro-Force Cleaning Kit sample from Sam’s Club…turned out to be quite the “sample”!
Rite Aid Halloween Candy Craziness (can you say stomach-ache?!)
High value $2/1 Pampers Wipes Coupon

Check out these emails (and pictures below) from readers, Rachel and Steph. Rachel shares how she has used some of her favorite deals…

My pre-school son has 11 teachers (he moved to the “big” school late fall so there are twice as many this year) that I want to thank. Because of your site, all year long I was able to “hoard” full-size hair products, $10 razors, name-brand lotions, you name it!! I bought cute reusable baskets on super-clearance last January. There is more than $350 worth of EVERYDAY products – not fru-fru stuff they can’t use. With the Olay rebates and ECBs I ended up not “spending” a dime – but what really makes me happy is that I was able to create something for all his teachers all year, and I am not looking at a massive credit card bill in January! I am not comfortable just giving cash. The money you help me save lets me do “fun” stuff….like run the Marine Corps Marathon last October!

Steph shares one of her favorite deals from 2010…

I just want to share a success story from one of the great deals you posted a few months back. Do you remember the post for the Tanger Outlet Facebook promo…like them and you get a $50 voucher for $25. Well the voucher email had to be redeemed in 10 days after receipt and I couldn’t make the hour drive within the time frame to pick it up. So, on my scheduled shopping trip with the fam, I emailed my local Tanger Outlet manager to see if he would still honor the deal. He was unable to do so, BUT he gave me a great alternative gift: A free coupon book (which came in handy for savings at several stores) and a FREE $50 gift card to the Ultra Diamond store. I thought for sure I couldn’t find anything for $50, but I DID! I got a beautiful black pearl drop necklace (pictured above)…for FREE! I didn’t even have to pay the $25 for the original voucher offer. How great is that!

So…now it’s your turn! What was your favorite deal(s) of 2010? Be sure to let us know in the comment section below. And here’s to lots of great and amazing deals in 2011! 🙂

I ended up getting 2 children’s books, a baby girl dress (I didn’t know it was a baby dress when I ordered it, though) and a pair of Simple vegan Converse-like little girls’ shoes for only $5 total. Fantastic! 😀

  6. Laurene H.

    The best for me, by far……was the free glasses from CoastalContacts.com……I soooooo can’t wait for my daughter to open her gift on christmas morning. 🙂

    • thebestdealpossible

      I loved that one too – I have not had a pair of glasses in my current perscription (I wear contacts) for a long time because I didn’t want to spend the money – Now I have a brand new pair in a great style.

      One of the funniest – remember party in your pants? The free ‘cloth’ pad sample? I never did get it, but I get e-mails from them now and then and it always cracks me up.

      Another favorite was the recent one for shoe mall and I think the one for the free mp3 player from Napster started here too and I did get one!

  7. Megan

    I must say I loved the diaper deals from Amazon!! I have one in diapers and another on the way, so we’ll have two in diapers at the same time. It’s been great to stock up on diapers! I actually did the amazon deal three or four times. Thanks so much!

    This year has been a blast saving money and getting freebies. My favorite deals were the most recent ones posted.

    $20.00 Gilt credit (I got a floor puzzle and 15″ puppet for my grandson, total = $2.47)
    $10.00 Target pajama coupons (2 camis, 7 prs of sleep shorts, 2 sliky tops and a tank. I printed 4 coupons and all total it came out being a little bit of a money maker)
    $5.00 Hasbro coupons
    $5.00 Bic marker coupons
    Free or nearly free shredded cheese. We eat sooo much cheese here.

    Walgreens and Target have become my favorite places to shop. The deals that I have gotten there this past year were only possible because of this site.

    Thank you, Collin!

    Merry Christmas everybody!

    • DP

      What did you do w/ the Bic Coupons?

  10. megan

    Some of my favorites…The $10 coupon for Pj’s at Target. RR are really fun to use for my Jewel and Dominick’s grocery shopping. I have a great stock pile of tide trial size, tooth paste, body wash, and mouth wash. Every time my 3 kids use a tube of tooth paste. I get so excited that I have a great stock pile! Thanks for all the fun Target, CVS and Walgreens deals.

  12. Adrian

    Oh my gosh, there have been so many! Most recently my favorite has been the Croc deals. We are surprising our girls with a trip to Disneyland for Christmas and I have a bag packed for each girl. One is getting everything Cinderella related and one is getting everything Minne Mouse related. Just last week I was able to get them both a new pair of Mary Jane Crocs, with Minnie Mouse and Cinderella Jibbitz for only $22 SHIPPED!!! Oh and the Disney embroidered blankets you posted a while back for $12 each shipped in Cinderella and Minnie Mouse prints with their names embroidered! Those have been my fave, but I do love a good Walgreens Jingle Cash deal! Scored over $300 worth of stuff for only $40 on Black Friday! Thank you for ALL you do and I hope you and your family have a VERY Merry Christmas!!!

  13. Courtney DeBok

    The glasses from Costal Contacts was my favorite! I had just broke my glasses and couldn’t afford to get new ones, and lo, I was uber excited when I saw that they were offering free glasses! So, for shipping and handling, plus a few upgrades, I pd $32 for a new, stylish pair of glasses! THAT was a deal I could afford!

    I also scored several of the Leap Tag items, like the Tag Jr. for $4.98 after coupons, and lots of the free Tag books with coupon and Target’s B1G1F.

    Amazon has become a favorite place to find toys too, after all the toys deals you posted.

  14. ej

    I just really loved the Rite Aid Halloween Candy thing. I had such fun with that one.
    And the photo deals are ALWAYS the best. I still love my Holiday cards from seehere 60 for $5 EVEN though they were really late, Called customer service and they sent 60 more. Go figure. Thanks Collin

  15. Ruth

    I became a serious ‘couponer’ in August after I found your site and started watching the deals you put up. I l have been enjoying shopping at Rite Aid since then. My favorite deals have been the Strawberry Shortcake remote controls cars from Toys R Us. Combined with coupons and the sale I got two for $5. I also just purchased two Pop Art Pixies from Target. With coupons I paid $1.50 each. Oh yes, and all our cold medicine we use around here was free from RA. Thanks for all you hard work Collin! Merry Christmas and God Bless you!

    There were so many great deals, how could I choose? Some favorites are: $2.49 Thomas the Tank Engine set, Amazon Mom diapers and toy deals, lots of free or inexpensive games, Target Tag books (I bought 4 for $4!), and so many more. Like so many others have said, thank you so much for what you do! You have helped my family so much this year. We have been able to give so many wonderful gifts this Christmas that I wouldn’t have thought possible thanks so your site. We have had a difficult year financially and couponing and deal searching have gotten us through. I am so thankful for the things I’ve learned here! Merry Christmas!

  19. terri

    Well the swagbucks was great, I hope to earn even more this year since I got in on that kind of late this year, the Hallmark coupons were amazing, gilt was a great gift and something I am using tonight. The S.C. Johnson gift pack I received with very large containers of windex wipes, scrubbing bubble wipes, pledge wipes and more it was the biggest box of freebies I have ever seen and since everyone will be converging on the house tomorrow those wipes came in handy, thanks hip2save you saved me soooo much money this year.

  20. Linda

    Learning about Swagbucks! I earned over $100 worth of Amazon GC’s for Christmas gifts this year! Thanks, Collin!

  21. Linda S.

    One of my favorites was purchasing Pampers diapers through Amazon. Thanks so much for all your hard work. It really is appreciated!

  22. SandraNYC

    Collin,
    The best deal for me has been the free hobby that pays off. Like so many people I am not exactly struggling, but just “getting by,” and when you are just getting by there is no extra money for costly past times. Just the couponing itself to me is a blast. Sitting there cutting, organizing, and planning gives me such a rush! And of course, there are all those deals that make otherwise unaffordable activities, doable. THANKS COLLIN!!!

    • Tina in east Texas

      Sandra, that was so well put! I totally agree. <3

      • Jessica C

        I agree, too! I’m a SAHM and this gives me an active way to contribute to our family finances while being at home with our baby!

    • Kristina C

      I am totally with you guys… someone said, “some people soduku, I coupon!” and it’s true! These are the best puzzles ever! I tell my kids that it exercies my brain, and they are starting to grasp the value of a dollar at a very young age.

    • Dee

      I’m with you all too. Everytime I get a great deal, I think of all the good stuff I can either donate, stockpile or give to my family and friends. I get soooo giddy after walking out of the store with my deals! Once in awhile my husband comes with me and he just looks at me amazingly, “how did you get all that for $x???” And, I always smile and say my favorite blog, Hip2Save!! Thanks Collin and to your family for supporting you for doing what you do so well!!

    • sherrybethb

      I have to totally agree with you! It’s such a good feeling and a rush to get these good or FREE deals! I’m so thankful for being turned on to Collin and “Hip@Save” this year. I’ve only been doing this for a few months, so I can’t wait to see what next year brings, and how much I’ll have for next Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Collin, and to everyone who works or uses “Hip2Save”. Everyone is so wonderful and helpful.

  29. Kristina C

    I started following you in July, and it’s all so new to me and I remember so many good ones! And I am a little embarassed after reading some of the deals above to have forgotten about a few great things that I got from some great companies… hopefully my raivng about them to friends, family and neighbors at the time have resulted in additional business for them. I have a big mouth.

    My overall favorite store is Rite Aid, hands down. I LOVE their program. Additionally, I am hooked on shutterfly photo books and personalized cards… I would feel sorry for Hallmark, except now I am hooked on their adorable collapsable snowman/penguin gift containers that i got with the $5 and $10 coupons. I guess they have different ones every season! Hello! Who knew? I enjoy my free magazines every month. I got some great FREE housewarming gifts from One Kings Lane and some great shirts and shoes from RueLaLa. I got some fantastic Sorel boots on an amazon lightening deal this seaeson for about half price. Not the most frugal deal, but I have been coveting these boots for years and they never go on sale. I have found some of my favorite new personal care products through free samples and product trials (like Dove Deep Moisture body wash). I won $250 from a contest you tipped me off to and my all time favorite…. I got to host a House Party for the premiere of Star Wars Clone Wars on Cartoon Network! It was the all time hi-lite of my kids year, and their friends too! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Collin!

  30. Shannan

    My favorite deal was the ToysRUs/Disney Movie Rewards rolling thing…where we bought Beauty and the Beast, Tinkerbell and TS3 for free…plus got all the freebies that came w/ them…these made excellent gift baskets for my cousin’s children for Christmas this year…this website has saved me so much money since I discovered it at the beginning of the year…thank you Collin!

  31. Natasha

    The amazon diaper deal has been so great I have passed it on to so many people that couldnt believe I made the price that low. Another favorite is one I am still working on the 5 dollar off Avoderm dog food making the bag.99 for an 8.99 bag I go in a few times a week to get 1 bag no I dont buy every bag they have and our petsmart is always restocking I have only been in once when there was none on the shelf.

  32. michelle

    Hey Collin,
    Thanks for all the work that you put into this amazing site! I have been an avid coupon clipper, clearance rack shopper, on-line deal finder for years! My family thinks it is my full time job to save money. I keep track of the money I save every year and total it up at Christmas time- well this year……. over $20,000!!! That’s right!!!!
    I have alot of great deals that I snabbed up this year, $15 kitchen aid mixer from lowes, great clothes and toys for my new little niece for super cheap prices, free gift sets..the list goes on and on!
    We did luv the new facebook promotion from FTD. We are currently stationed overseas and wont make it home for the holidays, so me and my husband both won a free bouquet and sent then to our parents for the holidays! We were even able to record our boys message to their grandparents and what a surprise it was!! My dad just couldnt believe that they could add his grandkids voice to the card!!! 🙂 FTD brought many smile and tears to our family this year!
    ~~~~Seasons Greetings from Germany~~~~
  33. Autumn
    I had so many favorites its hard to pick! I loved the $10 off $10 at hallmark, the gilt credit, the $10 off PJs @ Target. And the list goes on! I have saved so much money since finding your site. Its been wonderful! I now recommend it to all of my friends! I’ve also won a few of the instant wins you’ve posted as well. Nothing beats the $315 to Wendy’s I won on an instant win and then swapped for cash on Plastic Jungle (also posted on your site). It completely paid for my son’s Christmas this year!
  34. Collin (Mrs. Hip)
    Collin….You are amazing and thank you sooooooo much!! You have helped me save soooo much mula for my family! There were so many deals that I got off of this site and it has been amazing!     I only started following in September, but this site is my new obsession!!! My boyfriend makes me fun of me when I’m doing my “coupon thing” as he likes to call it. But seriously Collin, thank you SO much for all the time you put into this. I am a grad student and money is tight, and already in a few months I have saved SO much money and stocked up on so many things. You are a life-saver! Some of my favorite deals were…
    – Coastal Contacts — got myself a free pair, and it came with a gift card for another free pair so I gave that to my mom who had just broken her glasses. We were both very happy 🙂
    – All the little freebies from drug stores, etc. My boyfriend always tells me he needs razors, deodorant, etc and I just reply “Check the stockpile!”
    – Thanks for the heads up for the Lowe’s Black Friday and last minute gift-a-thon on Facebook! I got 90% off codes for the KITCHEN AID MIXER (LOVE!), KEURIG COFFEE MAKER (LOVE EVEN MORE), Air purifier (friend w. allergies loves), and microwave (hoping to gift it to someone who will love it!)
    – The free Wholly Guacamole coupon I got sent from the giveaway— thank you, thank you!
    Seriously you are the best!! Happy holidays!!
  38. croche
    All the drug store deals, Swagbucks and Houseparty.
    Have had so much fun and saved so much money since I found your site. Merry Christmas to you Collin and your family!
  39. Chris G
    Oh so many…how to choose?
    Some of my favorites:
    *The Monopoly, Pictureka, Sorry card game deals at Target
    *The rite aid PDF coupons, so sad that they will no longer have those
    *The super jingle cash deals and Hallmark tissue paper deals from the past few weeks
    *Last month I linked to a local New England blogger (Coupon Goddess) through your website. She listed some deal scenarios for Shaws grocery store, and informed us of a little known unadvertised Catalina deal. Combining the sale, coupons, the double coupon from that weeks flyer and the Catalina rebates I got lots and lots of Pillsbury and Betty Crocker items for free or darn close to it. I was able to create a pantry stock, share with friends, donate some plus I walked away with $45 in electronic Box Top codes for my son’s school.
    * All the free or near free body washes, shampoo, deodorant and cosmetics. We Adopt a family through my workplace every Christmas season and I was able to make the group contribution go soooo much further with the deals on your site AND I was able to make a beautiful spa basket for the mom using items from my stockpile without having to use any of the money. We had so many gifts and still had about $100 left so we decided to circle back and also Adopt a Vet, though the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. We were able to make 6 peoples’ holiday a little brighter, not to mention what it did for our spirits!!!
    Awesome! Thanks Collin, I love your site and recommend it to everyone.
  40. Bridgette
    I think the best deal so far was getting the box creations for $5.00. I just got mine yesterday. What an amazing deal. Thanks Colling for all the deals to date. Look forward to a great year and finding some good deals. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  41. Kelly
    Hey Collin,
    I found your site back in February and I have saved a lot of money, but, I want to do even better in 2011! The first thing I am going to do is get on Facebook. I think I have missed out on a lot of good deals because I am not a Facebook fan. I love the magazine deals you have posted. I was able to get so many subscriptions for so cheap it’s just unbelievable. I LOVE magazines and I was able to give a few away as gifts. And, because of the magazine deals, I was able to get four of the $5 Hallmark coupons. I gave one away to my Mom and was able to get four rolls of wrapping paper for like $2.
    Thank you, Collin, for all of your hard work!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I am excited to start 2011 because of Hip 2 Save!!
    • sherrybethb
      Get on Facebook. Being on “Hip2Save” is what finally got me to get a Facebook account. You can get some good coupons and freebies when you have a Facebook account. Merry Christmas.
      • Kelly
        Help me out — our son has a Facebook account under my e-mail address. How do I create another account? I mainly want the Facebook account just for Hip 2 Save coupons and freebies! Thanks so much!!
        • Sara
          Just create a new email on hotmail or yahoo or somewhere. I have an email just for couponing so I when i sign up for stuff my real email doesn’t get clogged up. And I have a Facebook account with that email and a fake name so I can get the coupons and stuff without really being on Facebook (that’s all I use Facebook for).
          • Kelly
            Thanks so much! I’m on Facebook now! I’m looking forward to 2011! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  42. Jennifer S
    I love the Allure giveaway. I still get freebie stuff in the mail from that. It just makes my day. I also loved the OneKingsLane and Gilt credits. Free stuff makes me happy! Thanks Collin!
  43. Stormie
    I would have to say in general the items that ended up being free… deodarant, pjs, gilt groupe… and many more. I paid it forward… my son and I adopted a Soldier from herobox, who was in need of deodorant, and vitamins (which I got from the Natures Made giveaway), and more. Gilt Groupe for organic plush bear for my sister in law expecting….
    May all of you readnig this and especially COLIN and family… have a very MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS !! Don’t forget the reason for the season. Colin you have paid it forward in many ways and I thank you from my household!
  44. caryndelk
    Not exactly a deal, but remember the JCPenney pooh pants silliness.
  45. Emilie
    The cheap magazine subscriptions because they last all year! I love that!
    And the HSN coupon code. I snagged a new DVD player (in the same week ours broke) for around $15!
    Collin I love you……now that is out of the way. My favorite deal recently was the monogramed stockings. I got three of them (one for each little monster) for 24 bucks shipped right to my door! they are beautiful and its something that I really wanted and will keep forever! I have been a couponer for a couple years but have slowed down since I have three ages 3 and under and we are trying to move. I still check your site mulitple times a day though and love all the online deals you post! Merry Merry have a great holiday!
    The best deal for me had to be SoBe. I printed like 4 B1G1 free coupons a day & went to CVS when they had all there B1G1 free sale. We had carts full of FREE SoBe.
    Thanks Colin
    There are SO many 🙂 Swagbucks is huge and ongoing – love all the amazon gcs I can keep racking up! In spite of some customer service issues, the Rue La La $20 credit ended up being a good one for me. All the free toiletries and cosmetics that we/I will continue to enjoy all through 2011 are fantastic! I got a great deal on the medeco.com $10 credit awhile back, and the first $25-for-$10 groupon deal for Soap.com was really good. There are many others I know I’m forgetting but loved at the time. Thank you for everything, Collin!!!!
    my favorite was the info on the free codes for the xbox package with kinect at Burger king.com. I won on the 5th code and have had fun trying out the new games!
    Also loved the $200 worth of murad products just for buying a book- I used amazon swagbucks gift cards rewards for that also, so think i paid a couple dollars!
