Calling all college students!! Here is a great deal for you! Neebo.com, one of the largest suppliers of textbooks in the nation, is giving you a chance to use one of 100,000 textbooks without paying an initial rental fee — you just pay for shipping (which runs around $7.99).

Here’s what you need to do…

* Find an available title to rent for free here
* Login to Facebook and click “Like” Neebo.
* Click that you agree to terms of the Rental Agreement.
* Complete your order, including a valid email address, your name, mailing address and debit/credit card information.
* After the semester, follow the instructions that you will receive with the original shipment or found here. Return the textbook to Neebo postmarked by 5/20/11 with the return shipping label that can be found and printed here.

* One free textbook rental per person. The number of textbooks of available titles that are being offered rent-free is limited. The remaining number of each of the available rent-free titles is listed here. If there are no boxes marked “rent for free” for your desired textbook, then the supply of that specific rent-free textbook is gone. Keep in mind that fees may be assessed if the textbook is not returned postmarked by 5/20/11 or if the textbook is returned in a damaged condition

So…what do you think? I know how expensive college textbooks can be so I thought that this deal was worth sharing??

(Thanks, Chi-Town Cheapskate!)

  2. Laura B

Of course something like this comes along after i graduate. I remember paying close to $700 for books a semester added on to the cost of tuition. Great deal!

  3. Sarah

I rented a textbook from them yesterday when they started the promotion. A book that would have cost me $131 and I got it for free! I was elated, to say in the least!

  4. Ashley

This deal almost makes me wish I didnt graduate last semester

  5. sandra choinski

bummed the books that my daughter needs this semester aren’t available hopefully next semester they will run the same promo 🙂

  6. Briana

Collin, thank you so much for posting this! I’ve always wanted to e-mail you and ask you to post something about textbooks. I’m going to Pharmacy School, and I spent $1000 on textbooks my first year (since I bought everything from the bookstore). This semester, I was only going to have to spend around $140 for my second semester because I had saved up some swagbucks and had $15 waiting in giftcards. Plus, I had followed suit with one of your guest posts about surveys and one of the sites pays in amazon.com giftcards as well. This just saved me another $70. SO HAPPY!

  7. Lynn

Thank you so much for posting this deal, Collin! I just saved myself from spending $100 on a statistics book that I probably won’t need after May. Hip2Save ROCKS!

  8. Megan

Thank you so much for posting this! I saved over $100 on a math book I needed. Thank you for keeping your college student readers in mind 🙂

  9. Hayley

Thank you so much, Collin! I got a book from my nutrition class that was $151! I paid $13 to get 2nd day shipping. This is definitely worthwhile as I’ve already spent about $400 this semester for books.

    • La

      Exact same here 🙂

  10. Ang

I was supposed to get books this morning, but a snow storm stopped me. So I just snatched up one of these free books….AWESOME! I paid 13.25 for 1-2 day shipping since my classes started this week. I think I’ll be ok for a couple days! What a great deal. That book would have been over $100!

  11. Erin

I am starting my Master’s in Education next week and I just got a $150 textbook for FREE! Thanks so much for sharing this!

  12. kristen

My husband and I are both full-time students at VA Tech, both of us got one and saved about $200! Thanks!

  13. Kristy

    This is so awesome!
I’m bummed I was a bit too late for the deal. The only book they have in stock is the one I ordered yesterday from amazon.
Ah well, that’s my luck. I also just found out that amazon does one year of free Amazon Prime membership for students. I found that out /today/ after ordering my one book yesterday and spending $6.99 on shipping. Bad luck all around for me! haha
I’m happy so many other people got such great deals on their textbooks. They’re so expensive, so this is absolutely fantastic. (For anyone who got the books, anyway. xD)

  14. Melissa

OMG! Thanks a bunch for this one – I saved – $174 on a Microbiology book! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

  15. brandie

Awesome deal! My co-worker starts grad school in 2 weeks I told her about this deal and she got her statistics book for FREE! Thanks so much!

  16. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just did this for my son. He had a book for over $180 to buy and I just rented it for $13 + ( I got 1-2 day shipping because we forgot and his class is tomorrow!) Thanks. What perfect timing!!! He now just better take GOOD care of it!

  17. Shanon

Thank you so much for posting this. I am a full time college student and my school books usually cost between $500-800 a semester! I just got a free rental for one of my books that would have put me back $125.30… You are amazing Collin!

  18. Stephanie Smith

FREAKING AWESOME!!! I just got one of my $180 Nursing books! SO awesome!

  19. Kate

THANK YOU COLLIN! My classmate last semester lost a CD of mine to a review book. I did not care until my PC went out two days b4 Christmas (with packages arriving and trying to track them) and I could not use the loaded software this month. The book and CD cost $60.00 and I am renting for $7.99 shipping. I can load the CD and review my nursing question for the NCLEX. I was planning on just looking on ebay or using a 40% off borders coupon to purchase the set again. This was a simpler solution. I can take my time use it on my loaner computer from my fabulous bro and load on a new PC when we find a great deal and return the book postmarked by 5/20/11. THANK YOU! I hope lot of students use this! They only have 9,000 LIKES so I am sure this one might last longer than an hour with 100,000 to give away.

I wish I had this last year when I had bought a majority of my nursing books. But this little bit helps…could save many hundreds of dollars!

  20. stacey

I JUST yesterday paid 300 for my books!! Darn. This is a great deal. I am tempted to rent one and just sell one of them back. Great deal Collin.

  35. butterfly_024

Collin thanks so much for this post. This has to be one of my favorites so far. Can’t believe that all I had to pay for a $100 book was $8 shipping. Perfect timing for me.

  36. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Boo for their pitiful selection of animal science books.

  37. Mallory

This just saved me $180! THANK YOU! For once my procrastination paid off. I’m glad I hadn’t ordered my books yet.

  38. Caitlin

I am soooooooo happy you just posted this! I just got a super expensive book for free! I had been putting off buying this book because I couldn’t find any good deals on it. You just made my day!

  39. La

Thanks for the $$$ you just saved this broke student!!!

  40. Abby

Thank you so much for posting this. My husband and I were kind of bummed since we couldn’t find one of my text books from previous students. It was in the $140s (that’s 1 1/2 months worth of food for us). We could have been fine with that because we are expecting text books in our budget, but the fact that you enabled me to get it or $8 just made my day, probably my year. It will forever be engraved in my heart as the best deal I got in 2011. Thank you so much.

  41. cjumelles

This was the last book my son needed for school, oh my gosh I am so excited. Paid 13.95 to get it here by Sat.

  42. Ami

  44. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

thank you if i didn’t read this from Hip2Save or neebo’s website then i would of went to the bookstore and pay for full price. i haven’t started class until Thursday since we got snowed since Monday. My school bookstore isn’t open too b/c of the snow. So hopefully i can get the book here before next week i’ll be fine (i need it ASAP so i chose to have my book within 2 business days). I’m so glad neebo is doing this kind of promotion helping us save money on textbook. wish they mention this promotion like in December and not today when most of us starts School

  45. Jessica

THANK YOU!!!! I just saved over a hundred dollars on a text book!

  46. Anika

THANK YOU!!!!! I just saved $120 on an English composition book 🙂

  47. Amanda Hoff

Good for all of you who were able to take advantage of this deal. I am the textbook manager at a college bookstore and I’m telling you textbook prices are never going to come down unless you get involved… finding alternatives to the exorbitant prices that publishers are asking for their books is a great way to put your education costs in your own hands. Keep sending the message that this price gouging will not stand! (and please keep in mind that the bookstore doesn’t set the prices… we’re just the messengers)

  48. Victoria W.

I’d LOVE to have this promo next Fall or next Spring!! Son will be graduating this June from HS!!

    Thank you!!

  49. Heather Stewart

This was PERFECT timing! My husband just started grad school this week and we got to return a book he had just purchased for $150. Thanks for the savings!!!!

  50. Collin (Mrs. Hip)
