Final Cost

In the end (if you do all 4 transactions), you’ll have paid a total of $13.39 out of pocket for 15 items…and that includes 24 rolls of toilet paper, several razors, hair/body products, and more! …AND you’ll walk out with a $3 RR to use next time!

Please note that these scenarios do not contain ALL of my favorite deals this week, so be sure to go here for the full list of Walgreens deals available! Also, if you’ve cooked up any great scenarios, please feel free to share in the comments!

…And one more note, these scenarios are just to get ya thinkin’, so don’t feel like I am telling you to go buy the exact items I have listed. I also am not stating that you need to do all 4 transactions at once. In fact, I would suggest not doing that. Instead, pick a couple days during the week to stop by Walgreens to complete all transactions OR if you have a few Walgreens stores near you, then make a point to stop at a couple different stores to roll your Register Rewards. Enough rambling… basically, figure out what works best for you! 🙂

Thank you so much for posting this!

  2. berda

Lately the only thing any of the walgreens around me have in stock are plenty of rainchecks 🙁
i sure hope the quantities become larger so that more of us can take advantage of the deals!

  3. Dawn

Could you use the $1 off scotch tape on Trans #4 ? Thanks for the scenarios !!!

    • mamabug

Nope, I already double checked those coupons. 😉

  4. Tonya

    thanks for the ideas 🙂

  5. nicolehart4605

Thank you so much for all the info!! As a new couponer this is awesome!

  6. mamabug

My first transaction may be a little more OOP but I HAVE got to start out with the toilet paper and other things I know will be out of stock right away in order to ensure I actually get it. LOL My store has the hardest time replenishing things.

    • Jennifer

I hear ya! Are you by chance in northwest Kansas??? LOL!!

  7. Nicki

Thank you so much for posting these awesome deals, I am so excited to go in the morning 🙂

  8. Debbie

or you could just use the Tylenol precise coupon for $5 off and the Walgreens for $3 off andget it free

    • Megan

I cannot get the Tylenol Precise coupon to print

  9. Lydia

Note to newbies: dont count on all the items being in stock unless you get there first thing when they open on sunday. Wags offers rainchecks, but only for the sale price, NOT register reward values.

    • Joy

Here is my issue and I cannot figure this out so if anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.

My Sunday papers are not available for purchase until 5AM on Sunday. I clip them and head to my Walgreens and like clockwork all the good stuff is gone already. Where are people getting this weeks coupons from so early? and forget anything that utilizes coupons from prior weeks. Last week I went there at 6am and someone had already bought all 53 bars of butterfinzerz snackers and 21 boxes of Splenda and on and on. No deals and I was only 6 hours into the new week. Unfortunately there is no other Walgreens for 56 miles.

      • Rebecca

I don’t shop on Sundays, so I always go in the afternoon on the day their new truck comes in–if you ask the cashiers, they’ll tell you what day that is. I’ve figured out what time they’ve usually got everything unloaded, and I’m often the first one to check out their new stock. It works at Rite Aid for me, but I’ve never tried Walgreen’s because no couponers in my area even bother with Walgreen’s (yes, they’re that good at driving away couponers). Hope that helps!

      • Melanie

the saturday paper has the coupon inserts

        • Joy

Not here only comes in the Sunday papers

          • melissa

Part of my Sunday paper gets delivered on Sat afternoon. Its all the ads , inserts along with the classifieds and metro section of the paper.
Some areas get their Red Plum inserts delivered in the mail on Wednesday or Thursday.

          • Erin

Do any stores carry an early edition of the Sunday paper? That has the inserts in it.

            • Nicki

Walgreens as well as like all the other stores and gas stations carry the Early Sunday edition paper on Sat. and it has all the coupon inserts.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Hi Joy–

I just had to comment and vent a little when I read about someone buying all 53bars. While I love getting a great deal and walking out with free stuff or having made money, I absolutely refuse to clear the shelves (unless it is the last item left). I wish some peopl would exercise a little coupon etiquette. I hope you have better luck this Sunday 🙂

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I used to get a local paper with coupons on Fridays, and other local papers, the coupons were sometimes a little different. Then, if I wanted to get more coupons early, the Sunday paper came out early on Saturdays. But I have noticed that my local Walgreens also sells out of the hot stuff, so I can go to about 4 different Walgreens in my town.

      • Laura

Joy I have the EXACT same issue. No matter how much planning I do, how early I get up, etc. there are always two people who get there before me and clear the shelves. My Walgreens managers know who they are and they go from store to store in the area and clear them out too. It’s so frustrating to do all that work then not even be able to do the deals once, i know! The “shelf clearers” in my area actually caused my Walgreens to put a bunch of new restrictions on coupon use and now it’s all negative and difficult to use them there. I suggest before that happens to you you talk to the manager and suggest they put a limit on deal items so everyone can get some! Clearing the shelves is not good for the stores either and they don’t like it….and if it gets too out of control they might even change their policies in a way that effects you negatively as well. Sorry this keeps happening to you also!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i had that prob today one guy tried to clear the shelves with the right gurd body was and i said u can only have 4 period end of discussion so eveyone can do the deal and he threw a fit but i stood my ground and he only got 4 so others could do the deal people have concideration for others your not the only person on the planet

    • Sarah

At CVS you can get a raincheck for the price AND the ECB, and they never expire.

      • Alicia Pearson

Most Walmarts carry the Sunday newspapers on Saturday around 5 I think. Thats how I get mine, I am not a Sunday shopper though.

        • what's the deal

It really is going to depend on your newspaper, not the stores. We get ours delivered at about 4 am – that’s it. Then you can go to the stores and machines at about 8. Before that – nothing.

        • ricks48038

It all depends on what time the local newspaper goes to print, and if they do a separate delivery (or include it with another day’s paper) for the coupons…also, in our area, there is a freebie “newspaper” (I use that term loosely) but it also includes a lesser version of Smart Source coupons, to give me a head start…

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Our closest CVS is 30 miles away. It isn’t worth driving there to get anything:( I wish we had them!

  10. Ann Dee

Collin, I think you’re so cute for putting those notes at the bottom. LOVE YA GIRL!!!! You are so awesome!

  11. Kelley

I only feel comfortable doing 2 transactions at a time, and only if there’s not a line behind me!

  12. anita

I also live out in the middle of nowhere and get the paper from the largest near- by city (Albq.NM), 150 miles away and it does not have the RP insert, does anyone know how I can get one?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I live in NM and get the RP insert in the mail on Tuesdays, along with the Albertons and Smiths ads.

      • anita

Oh man, I get the ad’s but no RP. Do you follow any sites for match-ups for Albertsons or Smith’s?

  13. Araceli H

Where are the Use the $1/1 Aussie/Herbal Essences coupon found in the P&G Everyday Savings book? Im not sure what booklet it came in and since I cut all my coupons I don’t know where it is..Can someone help?

    • Paula

You had to sign up for the p&g book back in like jan/feb sometime.I did get mine but I have a hard time using them as they always beep so wal-mart wont that them and target gives me looks.

      • Rebekah

        ours was only for .50/1

  14. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you Collin!! I am LOVIN’ the scenerios you give us!! They are a HUGE help!!

  15. Lydia

ARaceli… The p&g everyday savings book is one they mail to you after you send in receipts showing you purchased p&g products, typically $50 will earn you a booklet

  16. Lydia

JOy, not the “saturday” paper, but an early edition of sundays paper that is SOLD on saturday. At least, thats how it is by us.

  17. Debbie

I always have a problem with the Wags in Wichita, KS being out of items. I know there are couponers, but I think Wags is guilty of offering these great deals and never keeping a lot of stock on hand. I try to get there early in the week, but it is always such a battle I really have given up on Wags. Most of the time I have to ask someone to check in back, about about 50% of the time they have the products, but it is getting to not be worth it to me.

    • MICHELLE KREAGER

I feel your pain. I walk into Walgreen’s in Wichita every week with the assumption I will not find one single deal. Every once in awhile there’s an item, but it seems to be not worth it. I have trouble trying to use up the RR before they even expire and then I am really upset because my good “deal” the previous trip is not such a good deal anymore if the RR expire!

  18. Lydia

ANita… You can request the red plum inserts be mailed to you. I think you’ll be able to find the info if you google “request red plum insert” or something similar

  19. Becky

Thanks Collin! And to everyone else…it’s the same here in Northern IL no stock, have to get there right when they open, etc etc. This is why I prefer CVS as well…usually if I get there by sun. eve. there is still product left for me…

    • Erin

Where in Northern Illinois are you? I live in Gurnee and am originally from the Rockford area! =)

  20. Carrie

what if you do all the items at one time? would you just be oop more and have more rr at the end? I am new to this and was going to do it all at one time. Also do you need a walgreens card or anything. I know at rite-aid, you use your rewards card. I did not see anything like that for Walgreens

  21. Victoria McGovern

Coupon newbie here! How can I get my coupons to print on the same page and without gigantic ads?

  22. Erin

If you’re printing more than 1 from a site, they usually print on the same page. The only way to not print ads is to cancel the rest of the job after the coupon part prints. I usually turn my paper over to print another coupon if only one coupon prints at the top. Hope this helps!

  23. nicole

i thought that you could only use one RR to pay? Can you use multiple RR to pay for your next transaction?

    • nicole

never mind my silly question, I understand now..:)

      • j1rivera8

so can you use more than 1 rr is a transaction?

  24. crisenh2o

if i do all this in 1 transaction, would it still print out the same rr? do i need a walgreens card like at rite aid?

  25. tanya

How would transaction 1 work. There are more coupons used that items listed. Walgreens has a policy that they will not accept more coupons than items.

    • Lynne

True, but the $3 walgreens coupon does not count towards coupon count, only manu. coupons do, so she has 3 items and 3 manu and 1 wags coupon.

      • Tanya

My Walgreens counts the walgreens coupons in the count.

        • Lynne

None of the ones I go to do. I have always been able to use a manu q and a wags q per item and not need fillers to fill my item/ coupon ratio

  26. Marissa

I have a question to all you couponers out there.
I dont shop on sunday and so i know that the time i get there on monday most of the good stuff is gone so i’m wondering when would be a best time to go later on in the week? when do the stores usually replace their sold out items?

    • Liz B

If you ask your cashier, they can tell you what delivery day is and when to expect that the shelves will be restocked. At least at my local store, the delivery day changes every few months. I live in a small town with wonderful cashiers who keep me informed, now that they know me. I try to go out of my way to be nice and even share coupons with them or tell them how to do some of the deals I learn about on here. Love my Walgreens!

  27. j1rivera8

what if you dont have the aussie coupon in # 3 is there something else you recommend using instead?

    • Holly

      There’s a $0.50 coupon in today’s PG.

    • Rachael

I’m substituting the bogo head and shoulders coupon. You will pay $1.01 more out of pocket, but get back and extra rr! HTH

  28. Penny Nickledime

At my local Walgreens (memphis, tn) you cannot receive RR if you used RR toward your purchase. The Catalina will not spit them out and I’ve had management tell me that it can’t be done. I usually just separate my purchase into two transactions. Everything that’ll give me a RR and everything that wont. But still, its a pain. These scenarios wouldn’t work for me. =( Its why rite aid is fast becoming my go-to. They let you use your +ups toward purchases and still give you your newly earned +ups.

  29. Ellen

Does anyone see a potential problem in Trans #1 with using both a $5 coupon and a $3 coupon on the Tylenol Precise that sells for $7.99. I spent a gruelling afternoon yesterday haggling with 2 different Walgreens about coupons, rainchecks and items excluded from sales when the ad definitely did not list exclusions. I can, unfortunately, see being put on trial again over 1 penny.

    • Holly

I’ve had the same issue. Depending on my cashier, it sometimes helps when I have their coupon policy (where it says they can adjust coupons down). If that doesn’t work, my coupons go through just fine if I have a filler item. Have you noticed if that’s the case for you as well?

    • stacia

      I used both today.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just used the coupons today with no problems

  30. Mandy

I also saw they had the Neutrogena cosmetics Buy One Get One half off and in the All You they had the $3 off cosmetics and then the May coupon book has $2 off lip or eye makeup so you can get the lip gloss for a $1 a piece.

  31. Pilar

Hey, Collin. Thanks for putting together the progressive deals. Really helps to keep the OOP expenses low for those who choose to shop the drugstores. I hear those who are frustrated with Wags’ stock on hand issues…I just don’t get how WE, the customers, can be aware of upcoming sales, via the various ad scan sites, yet you get to the store Sunday morning and they’re out…sure, they tell you when the truck is coming…I went to 4 stores looking for the Splenda, visiting daily, from Sun to Fri and heard everytime, “it didn’t come in, the truck is coming”…blah blah blah. Not worth it…took my coupons to the commissary and did better. Never going to Wags again…CVS is SO much better. I wrote and told Wags that, too. Thanks again, Collin. You’re the best!

  32. Heidi

Thanks for putting these different transactions together, so we can all stretch are dollars. Love it 🙂

  33. jmartcougar

going to wags today hopefully the shelves haven’t been cleared lol

  34. Erin

The RR on the Gum flossers is regional, FYI.

  35. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The Herbal Essences/Aussie coupon in my coupon insert for today is a 50 cent off coupon, not a dollar off coupon….is there a $1 one that I am missing?

  36. DeAnna

In my ad it doesn’t look like the Cottonelle has $3RR. In my ad it shows a green box w/ items like Downy, Cascade, Tide, Bounce, Swiffer, Mr. Clean, and Febreze and the Cottonelle isn’t in that box. Does anyone know if this is a regional offer?

  37. Carly

My WAGS didnt print the RR for the Right Guard deal, i did all the above transaction and my OOP was $17.27 including tax. If the Right Guard RR would have printed it would have been $15.27. I still think that is an awesome deal for all of this stuff! Before i started couponing i would have spent $17.00 alone on the Gillette Razor and toilet paper, so i basically got all the other stuff for free! I dont think i will ever stop using coupons!

    • Victoria McGovern

I had problems with my deal too and the cashiers weren’t very nice. I had my own basket and my friend had their own and the manager was like “This is the first day of the sale. I can’t let you both get all of this stuff.” It eventually worked out and I spent about 13.00. This was my first time going out and I was pleased despite the cashier.

    • Francis Reed

Mine didn’t print one either, and the cashier said that with this coupon that cooperate said they could only take off 50 cents so don’t expect to get anything free she said. My cashier was not very nice. She said that their policy was you could only have 3 transactions… I go here all of the time and do more than three does anyone know if this is the case or is it different for each store?

  38. Ann Whiteside

I did this 4 transaction deal today, it worked wonderfully! Thank you so much!

  39. Sarah M.

I did the Cottonelle deal and, unfortunately, the register rewards printer jammed. So, they called the manager up and they said there wasn’t a $3 RR promotion on the toilet paper. I looked in the ad and there wasn’t anything stating a $3 RR. All it said was that it was on sale for $5 and with the “in ad” $1 off, would be $4. Was this an unadvertised RR deal? What do I do to get the $3 RR that are owed to me?

    • Victoria

I got my deal. It did print out and there is a reward.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Check out the CouponNetwork by Catalina: https://www.couponnetwork.com/cottonelle-coupon/xlkqhb
Coupon Network is also on Facebook – you could ask for help over there since Wags isn’t being helpful. I received a $3.00 RR for buying 2-12 pks of Cottonelle this morning so it is printing.

      • Britt

I did the deal 2 times yesterday. The first time I bought 2 packs and it printed my $2 RR, then when I did it later that night and bought 2 more, it did not print. The cashier mentioned something about having to buy 3, but I have no idea.

  40. Amy

Has the Cotonelle deal worked for anyone? The RR is not advertised in my paper. Thanks!

  41. Amanda

I am also wondering about the cottonelle RR. It’s not listed on my ad either and I don’t want to get up there and it not print out cause with out it being in the paper they don’t seem to believe you when you say there is a RR.

    • stacia

      it printed for me 🙂

      • nikki

It printed for me also, I was able to score 4 packs today, no problems! 🙂

    • Megan

      I got it too!

  42. Judith

Anyone else having issues printing the lysol and the air wick coupons? When I click on the special offers and coupon links, it’s saying the page cannot be found…

  43. Sherri

Super frustrating that once again I get up SUPER early and head to walgreens right after they opened and the shelves are cleared, no right guard, no fusion razors, no cottonelle. Everything was wiped out. Walk back past the beauty counter and there is a lady there with 4 HUGE carts over flowing with cottonelle, fusion razors, right guard, all the stuff. She cleared all the shelves and was even having the manager call the other walgreens to pull all of the merchandise she wanted from the shelf and hold it from her. She totally wiped out the entire town and the manager told her that no one else will be able to get these deals now because they will not have stock back in before the sale ends. Her response was “too bad for them”. How RUDE! I mean come on leave atleast a few items for others to get. UGH!

    • bergen

Oh my gosh! I went to four walgreens today by ten am….same problem! Unbelievable.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

in our store it would not happen are managers would refuse them the sale we have done it before we limit some items between 2 to 4 so everyone can get some

  44. Sherri

On a more positive note I did notice that on the Renpure RR items that the Amazing Miracle deep penetrating reconstructor has a try me free rebate attached to it so you can get a $5.99 rebate and a $4 RR, which makes it a money maker.

    • Amy

Thanks, Sherri. I will look for this.

  45. Julie

    Sherri,

I got on here just to post the same thing. I usually only try new things if I have a coupon for it and now with the free rebate it makes me even more ecited about my purchace.

Also, I got the Bic razor coupon out of this weeks ads, but I also had one left from a few months ago so I got an additional register reward sicne I did them both on 2 different transactions.

Also, theres coupon in the noxzema razors for 2 dollars off your next purchase for spa razors, which I believe are part of the register rewards according to the sale ad, but not posted with a clearance tag in the store.

  46. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

At my Wags, they got new scanners recently. They scan very well when scanning the items, but they don’t scan coupons at all. Interestingly, they don’t even scan Wags coupons or clipped coupons. I didn’t even try internet printables.

Why would Wags buy new scanners that don’t work on coupons?!?!?

  47. Sarah

I am new to shopping at Wags, just been there a couple of times. It does get discouraging when people clear the shelves. But I was pleasantly surprised to go today and everything was still in stock with plenty left! And on top of that, I didn’t get there until 1 pm today! I did get the RR on the Cottonelle. Also have a question: I am not sure how to figure the coupon to item ratio. Is it just the manufacturer Q’s and RR’s that count? Thank you!

    • Julie

RR are manufacurer coupons. Therefore, you need to have the number of items as you have for coupons. Example if you want to buy 2 of the cotonelle tp on sale this week. and you had 2 .50 coupons AND you wanted to use a 2.00 register reward, you have to have another item in addition to your 2 cotonelle tps. This is where a filler item comes in. I did this today. I got the 2 tps. and I wanted to use 2 .50 coupons plus 3 other register rewards so I bought the scotch tape that was on sale for .39. That way the 3 RR connected to the tape, and I got some tape that I’ll use for cheap, and was able to use lots of coupons to bring down the cost of the tp. Walgreens coupons don’t count when youre figuring out item coupon ratio.

      • Julie

To clarify, I bought 3 of the tapes in order to use the RR.

  48. stephgaut

I had the worst experience yet at Wags today. I was told that you cannot use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. I told the manager the corporate policy says as long as it does not go below zero and she said that does not include BOGO coupons. She also said that they have a new policy that says if you are using a man q and a store q on an item you can only get one item even if the coupon says a limit of 3. WTHeck!! I have never had this problem. She said well they are getting more strict on couponers. I said why? You are getting your money back from the manufacturer??? She also said that they will not adjust coupons down anymore??? I was so mad when I left there.

    • Trish

The clerk at my Wags wouldn’t let me do the BOGO with a BOGO coupon, either!!! I told her that the total would be zero, not “below zero” but she said that she couldn’t do it and give me two free. Our Rite Aid does it all the time for me…. grrrr……….!

      • Ellen

I had the same issue a few weeks ago at Wags with a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale for Coffee Mate. Two cashiers told me they just had a meeting about that & it was DEFINITELY not allowed. I asked for a mgr., who backed them up totally. I knew the policy but DIDN’T HAVE IT WITH ME and ended up leaving empty-handed (it was 3 against one, you understand 😐 So I went home and emailed corporate, and the next day received a call from the WEEKDAY manager saying “You were right, we were wrong!” which was nice, but the sale was over, and I was out of Coffee Mate…..:( SO SO SO tired of figuratively arm-wrestling for the deals at Wags….

I wish the corporate policy spelled it out explicitly about the BOGO coupons!

I am a new couponer and I’m trying to find where I can print the RedPlum coupons if they were not in my circular. I got a Red Plum insert but the coupons listed in the scenario are not in mine. Can someone tell me if there is a site that I can go to print those coupons? Thanks!!!
