We discovered Portrait Innovations in the fall and we love them. Up until then we had always used JC Penny’s and had been satisfied. But when we went to Portrait Innovations it was quick, easy, and FUN! We didn’t have to wait but 5 minutes to get in and when our son wasn’t cooperating they brought in back up and we were on our way. You can’t beat the prices and you don’t have to wait 2 weeks to get your prints. My family loves this place!

We always use Portrait Innovations. I absolutely love them. They are so good with the kids! And, they take great pictures!!

I had my sons picture taken last year at Portrait Innovations and they had the same promotion. They did a great job. The only down fall of the whole experience was that I had to sit through a very long sales pitch. They push you to buy very expensive packages(starting at 300-$400), even if you tell them you’re only looking to get the promotional package. Just them trying to get me to buy there other expensive packages took about an hour. If you’re willing to sit through all that, it’s totally worth the pictures you get, plus I got to pick them up the same day. I had a friend that used to work there and she told me the employees are required to up sell. Their job depends on it.

Our store never pushes you. They are wonderful. Definitely a big part of why we always go there! They act like it’s different when we buy multiple poses. I love them and will never go anywhere else!

    • missy

The studio by me is extremely pushy too!!!!! I avoid that place completely

  4. Ebony

They been running this deal for a while now I had christmas and valentines day pics with this promo. My Portrait Innovations makes you take about 45 minutes worth of pictures!
That part is a pain in the butt cause I got 3 little ones and they do not want to take pictures for close to an hour. Then they show you all 200 pics and you have to narrow it down to the ONE pose you want for your package.
Be careful cause I ALWAYS walk out spending more than I wanted to for the $9.95 package you gotta have some great will power. They tell you the pics are gone if you dont choose them so unless you get a package with the CD all of your adorable pics are gone : (
Other than that I like them you get your pics the same day too.

I had the worst experience ever here. They took waaay too many pictures, most of which didnt even turn out well. Then they try to sell you packages that cost hundreds. Once I got through all that, the printer was broken and they still had me wait nearly another hour when they knew it was broken and I wouldnt be able to get my pics. I will stay with Picture People.

    • Kathie M

We’ve had ours done there 3 times and 2 of them the photo machine was broken and we had to go back the next day.

My stores (I have 2 close by) are both really pushy and the one time the guy was downright rude. We also had to wait over 2 hours for our appointement before (that has never happened at JCP or PP).

I only go there when we really need a lot of the same pose as other pages are more expensive if you just need one additional pose. I do love all the pictures you get for $10 there though! I usually get DD’s done at JCP as they have the $4 sheets and I can get one of each pose if I want.

  6. Beth

The $9.95 promotion is every single day (at least at my store).

I’m sorry so many of you had pushy people! I never have had that experience! I like that they take a lot of pictures because I have taken my daughters there since they were 2 months old. A 2 month old doesn’t always take a good picture. Plus, they are great if the baby fusses. I was always able to take a few pictures, feed the baby, and then go right back in. I recommend Portrait Innovations to everyone I know!

  7. Brandi

I love the picture quality and price of the promo package! They really pressure you at our location though. Last time I was in they told me that the promo package is really just meant as a starting point and since they spend so much time taking pictures they really expect you to buy additional poses. I know that’s what they are always thinking but I was kind of shocked they actually said it! Makes you feel really guilty to stick with the package!

  8. Ellie

I get my daughters picture taken there every three months. Before she was born I bought a big fluffy tutu in a size 4t. Each picture session they take her picture with her “wearing” the tutu, now in the same pose. It has been fun for me and family to see how much she has grown with professional pictures for only $10. She is now 19 months and can’t wait for July to come to get them done again. Highly recommend them.

  9. Susan

We use Portrait Innovations all the time and have some wonderful pictures as a result!

  10. Tara

Usually I have a pretty easy experience with portrait innovations. Depending on how busy they are the photos are ready in 20 minutes to an hour, sometimes I can take the kids to eat and come back for the pictures after an hour and other times I will just come back later in the week. I typically get the 9.95 package and occasionally an extra pose in wallets for 15 bucks, just depends if I have the will-power to say no to the push of the salespeople. However last time I was given such attitude about just chosing the one pose of our family for Easter and none of the additional pictures of our kids. I told the photographer that we just wanted a family pose but she insisted on taking others, then we had a different person show us the pictures (usually its the photographer) and she just kept rolling her eyes at us. I stuck to my guns and we just got the one pose but got me a little frustrated and reluctant to return. With all that said, compared to the other portrait studios (Picture Me @ Walmart, Olan Mills @Kmart) that I have gone to, you just can’t beat how fast you get these pictures and the quality of the studio and the photographers. You get soooo many pictures for the price. I will return despite that one pushy salesperson when my third baby is born in August.

I have mixed feeling about Portrait Innovations. Here’s my two cents, in case there are people haven’t used them before.

    Pros
    1. they take a lot of pictures
    2. if you stick to the $9.99 package, it is very inexpensive and you get A LOT of pictures
    3. the pictures always look nice and the prints are very high quality compared to other studios I have used
    4. You get the prints the same day
    5. They take nice photos without relying on a lot of cutesy props.
6 I personally don’t find them to be high pressure – they do definitely offer you a ridiculous package, but I usually just say what I am willing to spend and they don’t hassle me about it.

    Cons
    1. They take almost too many pictures – so hard to narrow it down when you have 100 to choose from – and it takes forever!
    2. They have required poses they have to do (black background profile shots). I asked for them not to do this since my toddler was starting to fuss, and they said they had to. I had no choice but to allow them since it was in the middle of the session. Toddler way very fussy by the time we got to the second outfit, which was really annoying.
    3. I almost always have to wait quite awhile, unless we get the very first appointment or go in the late afternoon which isn’t really convienent with really small children who usually nap at that time. (they are only open until 6). During the holidays, be prepared to wait a very long time.
    4. If you like a pose, you have to buy three sheets of it. I don’t like this – I might want just one 8×10 of one pose and then wallets of another.
    5. I almost always end up spending around $100, which gives me 4 poses plus the $9.99 package. You get all the pics on CD but they are very low resolution, so you can’t do much with them other than post online. The pictures are nice and you get lots — in theory this is a good deal, but you really end up with way more than most people would use.

I would suggest only taking about $25 cash with you – this will buy you the $9.99 package and one additional pose, and that way you won’t be tempted to overspend. And be sure to take someone with you to entertain your kids while you sit at the monitor and try to figure it all out.

      Well said! 🙂

We use them several times for family portraits and also for individual shots near my son’s birthday. One thing to note, they only let you do this promotion once per quarter. I especially like how if you aren’t happy with any of the pictures then you walk out paying nothing and you can even reschedule for another time. I have a two year old who likes to run, enough said. It’s a great price, so stick to your guns when it comes to picking out your pictures. We go in with a list of total # of what size we need. Most of the time we only get the package, otherwise you are only paying by the sheet for whatever else you need.

  13. marilyn

I really like Portrait Innovations and having been getting the 9.95 package deal for years. You just can’t beat the price anywhere! Also they can get kind of annoying trying to sell you their other packages so I told the guy I just want the 9.95 package and be done but he told me he is required to start at the highest price and work your way down. gets long esp with toddlers who can’t sit still but whatever! I want to go in the next week or so to have my son’s pics taken!

  14. Smile!

Crystal, you are right on! Everything you say I agree with! I too, have mixed feelings about this place. My new rule is to only go there for the 9.99 special….you have to have will power as the last time I went, I was sooooooooo tempted to get more but I do not need all that they sell!!! I just want a few pics to send to some relatives and then have some for her scrapbook!! It’s a good place and the best deal around IF you can stick to the 9.99. I will also say that if you can’t stick to the 9.99 then make it worth your while and GET THEM TO TAKE AS MANY PICS AS POSSIBLE – for my son’s 1st birthday I did the cake smash, several outfit changes, my daughter’s pictures…I would have thrown my husband and I in the pictures as well except that would have been way too much stress!! LOL!!

Portrait Innovations is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than Sears!! I went to Sears for Christmas pictures a year and a half ago and got terrible pictures at four times the price of Portrait Innovations. You get tons of pictures at Portrait Innovations and I don’t think they have taken a bad picture of my two boys! The only complaint is that the picture CD has low resolution images on it…you can request the high resolution if you do so in writing. Overall I think Portrait Innovations is one of the best portrait studios I have ever been to! The 9.95 special is always going on here too…it is awesome that you can combine it with any package–no other place lets you do that either!

  16. jessica

Does anyone know if you can do the $9.99 package for engagement photos?

    • JessicaB

Im pretty sure you can buy the 9.95 on any type of photos.

  17. JessicaB

This is their everyday deal. I have used them for the past 5 years, but now I notice they are super busy and rush you in and out even with an appointment. I loved them when I took my first son, but now they are so commercialized they lack customer service! I now hire a friend of mine to do photos, but if your looking for a quick cheap photo session they do offer some good pictures and quick.
